The 5th edition of the BPM series consisting of four podcasts will be made available all at once later this afternoon.  This has been a long and grueling summer and frankly I need a break.  Since I don’t have it in me to create my usual post, I’ve decided to only make this available to the Party Favorz Fan Page members.  So if you haven’t joined me yet on Facebook (or Podbean for that matter) and really want this latest edition, than I suggest you get on over there and join now.  I’ve included the tracklisting for each set below, so you have a pretty good idea what’s contained in each podcast.  I plan on taking most of August off, though I may pop in later in the month with the 2003 Chrome Edition or maybe just the Mariah Diva Series I had previously promised.  I can’t say for sure.  I’m starting to have some normalcy around the house as Rick’s condition has improved markedly.  A couple more weeks of dialysis and he should be back at work, right around the time I have my operation.  I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer mixes I’ve been putting out and you can expect more going into the fall, but with a more restrained release schedule.  I fully anticipate having the Fall Edition out sometime around Labor Day.  Atlanta has brought back Pearl Days at Six Flags (Think of it like Gay Days at Disney) which is on September 11th – 13th and should be a lot of fun, assuming I’ll be up and about at that time.  So make the best of the remaining weeks of summer and I’ll soon be back in the saddle whipping it out!

Banging out the third BPM styled Beach House, we’ve got some serious dance floor mayhem going on here!  Starting with “Gotta Get Through” by Paul Emanuel & Gav McCall featuring Katherine Ellis, it’s nice to see Kathy giving something fresh and new.  “New Season” by Starjackers featuring Nadia K, “Take Me” by Italian Sushi and one of last year’s Pride entries “Let Me Be Your Fantasy” by Carl Kennedy has been updated in electro-mode are all surefire winners.  Slamming it out of the ball park, Dave Aude works his magic on DJ Dan’s “That Phone Track” proving he’s more than just a top 40 schlockmeister (though that’s not necessarily a bad thing) -love ya Dave xoxoxo.  On the commercial tip, Booty Luv return with a new tune “Say It” which is shooting for the top of the charts as well as Ameerah’s “The Sound of Missing You’’.  Yeah I know, I’m a sucker for a sweet song, what can I say?

Moving along with volume 2 of the Beach House edition, I try to kick things up a notch.  Standouts include “Stuck With Each Other” by Shontelle (though I would have preferred a duet with maybe Ne-Yo or even Chris Brown over Akon any day), “Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer)” which needs no introduction, the 2009 update of Haddaway’s 90s classic “What Is Love” (for obvious reasons), the smoking HOT “New In Town” by Little Boots (which hasn’t reached our shores just yet), Ladyhawke’s “Back of the Van” who I’m beginning to appreciate more and more and “If You Want My Love” by Soul Avengerz and Max C an irresistible combination of electro-funk.  Frankly, there’s not a bad song here.  Just look at everything else as the super-glue that holds this mix together.

I’ve got more stuff coming down the pike the next couple of days, so I’ll do my best to get the third in this BPM series out by the weekend.  Next week, you can count on the Beach House edition going T-Dance to round out your summer fun.  The first three should be more than enough to fill up your holiday parties this 4th of July.

With the kickoff of the Beach House series, I’d have to say that the summer parties have begun!  After pouring through hundreds of promos, my ears started to bleed.  There is no shortage of girls or girl groups with thin voices disguised with the “vocal enhancer” technology that is so overused in today’s music.  Hell, even Mariah employed it on her latest lame-ass single “Obsessive”.  Frankly, these labels don’t even need talent anymore, just some hot chicks and wannabe rappers who are more than willing to pimp themselves out for their fifteen minutes and you got yourself a record.  The more you pump out, the more likely you’re going to stumble on a hit.  Such is the case with the Paradiso Girls’ “Patron Tequila”.  Don’t get me wrong, songs like that are a lot of fun, but realistically, it just doesn’t cost the labels that much to put something like this out.  So, after going though all the promos, I had to make decisions about what’s hot and what’s not.  Otherwise, you would end up with three mixes of songs that all pretty much sound the same.  Instead, I mixed in some harder electro and underground tunes that might otherwise not ever see the light of day.  I then sprinkled some progressive tunes that were lost due to the deletion of the System Edition, and what you end up with is something that’s fresh and funky and contains enough variety to keep you interested.  Hey, I’m not tooting my horn, but I knocked these three mixes out from 3:30 AM Saturday til 1:00 Sunday afternoon.  The end result is freaking smoking!

Personal favorites include the Noisettes’ “Don’t Upset the Rhythm”, DBN and Madita’s “Asteroids”, Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams”, EliZe’s “Can’t You Fee It”, Lal Meri’s “Bad Things”, The Kahile Project’s “Magic Carpet” no that’s not a remake of the 90s Bardeaux classic and Riva’s “For How Long”.

I’ve got two more to bring to you by Friday and I’ll follow up next week with the T-Dance version of Beach House.  Though hot, weather has been amazing since yesterday with clear blue skies, light breeze, cool mornings and most importantly…no smog!  I’m hoping it can sustain this through the Fourth of July weekend, but likely not.

Okay folks, we’re in the home stretch before I take a much needed weekend break.  Starting things off, we get an updated early 90s classic “Just Another Sleepless Night” by Mad8 vs. Shawn Christopher and what a smokin’ mix this is!  The original David Morales mix is a personal favorite while Out of Office deliver an updated electro take for today’s floors.  I’m also serving up the two other Amanda Wilson tracks I promised “Love Resurrection” and “Surrender”.  Though not quite as stellar as “Make It Real” these are still some nice additions to Miss Wilson’s growing repertoire.  For those of you that remember the massive Moto Blanco mix of “If You Love Me’” by Chanel last year, well she’s updated the song with a new electro mix by Disco Lips which retains all the characteristics of the previous with a bit of an edge.  This is kind of a no-brainer and should do very well.  Another song I’m really feeling at the moment is “When We’re Together” by Morjac and Fred Falke featuring Sarah Tyler.  This is a big electro tune that drops into this Stevie Winwood sound from his “Arc of a Diver” period during the chorus.  I don’t know, it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over…LOL.  Another no-brainer is the already massive “Body Rock” by Oceana.  I had previously used the Twisted Dee mix in my Spring Edition and I’ve got to say that Dave Audé’s take is equally as good.  This of course is followed by U2’s latest “Magnificent” which by all accounts is just that.  In fact, U2 even sent Dave a personal note thanking him for such an outstanding job.  What’s nice about this version is that it harkens back to the uplifting 80s sound that U2 are known for, just with an electro edge to it.  This is nothing short of brilliant and should take these guys back to the top of the club charts.  Speaking of the 80s, “Clothes Off” is an updated take on the 80’s hit “We Don’t Have to take Our Clothes Off” by Jermaine Stewart.  Already burning up the floors, the Soul Seekerz do an excellent job of bringing the song into the here and now while retaining the nice sing-a-long chorus that made this song famous in the first place.  Keeping with the 80s theme, “Too Hot” by Rick Restanques and Linda Lee Hopkins employs a phat synth groove throughout the song that is very reminiscent of the Pointer Sisters’ “Automatic.”  I have to say this works wonders for the song and should do very well this summer.  Finally I close things out with “Time 2 Wait” by Steelers and Naomi.  No doubt this is a surefire radio and club hit from the original to the Bellatrax mix represented here.  I expect big things for this song.
