I can honestly say that things are moving along quite nicely. Thanks to those of you who provided feedback, I have now completed the new re-design of the Party Favorz blog. You’ll notice I took everyone’s advice into consideration and changed the font and re-added color without it being to distracting from the actual posts. Honestly, I’m already seeing a lot of potential for tinkering during various holidays, so I think this will work out very well.
I’ll be spending the weekend getting as much as possible moved over to my new Pod-o-matic account. While nothing is guaranteed, I’m hoping that this switch will work out well. They seem to have a more thriving community of house music lovers which should bring even more attention to my work. I know, everyone would prefer to keeps this their own little secret, but at the end of the day it’s about growing and expanding my audience. It is possible that there may be some delay and/or lag time between my next post and iTunes, because the feed will need to be re-directed and I don’t know how long that will take after I contact iTunes about the switch. So a little patience on the part of the iTunes folks would be greatly appreciated. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
In the meantime, all current podcasts will remain active through the end of August. After that, more than 2/3 of them will no longer be available. So if you are new to the site and are just now exploring, I highly recommend you grab what you want now because I cannot guarantee their availability after this month.
In the interim, I will also be working and finalizing the next Chrome Edition for release next week and hopefully a BPM after that coupled with the Fall Edition by the end of the month. I finally had my appointment with the surgeon yesterday and am currently waiting for his office to contact me for a day and time to have my operation. They said they would try to get me in by the end of the month, so everything mentioned above IS tentative. Regardless, I’ll do my best to keep the flow going. Even with a few hiccups here and there, if everything goes as planned, I expect to be taking everything to the next level early in 2010.
I also want to give a shout out to our good friend Tom Pham who is currently in the process of moving from New York to San Jose, California. Tom, I wish you a safe trip and I hope everything works out for you in Cali. That’s about all the news I have for today. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. I’ll be back sometime next week with the Chrome Edition 2003.
Until then…enjoy!

What a day yesterday was. First Farrah, then Michael. I just want to set the record straight about some of the posts I made regarding Michael’s death. I don’t want everyone to think I’m some cold-hearted bitch (well, just a little anyway). As someone that was molested as a child, it’s hard to feel any type of sympathy for Michael. I understand his difficult upbringing and the challenges that I suppose all young children face when growing up in the limelight. I for one was a huge Michael Jackson fan from his early days with the Jackson 5 and the Saturday morning cartoon that spawned from their success to his breakout as a solo artist with Off the Wall. When Thriller came out and MTV began playing “Billie Jean” all bets were off. I remember being in Corpus Christi with my grandparents for Christmas or Thanksgiving, I’m not sure when, but the Thriller video came on MTV. I was completely blown away by the video. My uncle came in and saw it, then began screaming at my mother about how she could allow me to watch this evil shit. “Michael Jackson was the spawn of the devil” he shouted. This coming from the man that used to hide a bunch of Penthouse magazines in his closet and called me into the bathroom one time and pissed all over me. I digress.
I guess my point is that I prefer to remember Michael from parts 1 & 2 of his life. By the time Bad came out and his peculiarities began to surface, my admiration began to wane. Of course at the time I was really into alternative music so that probably had a lot to do with it. By the 90s, I didn’t even have a passive interest other than what was being reported in the news. So, I’m sorry if anyone is offended by my comments but just understand there is a Michael 24/7 news cycle coming to you throughout the summer and quite possibly through the end of the year. People’s fascination with him encourages the news outlets to continue to promote all the garbage that’s certainly bound to be spewed on a daily basis, not unlike Princess Diana.
While I can appreciate those of you who may have shed a tear or two after the official announcement of his death, it’s those people that allow this to ruin the next several weeks of their life until he’s laid to rest that I don’t get. So when I say “get a life” I really mean it. Either that or don’t be skipping your medication because I have little sympathy for your emotional drama (anon, that one’s for you).
With that behind me, I want to introduce you to the second installment of Catching Up with Freemasons. These guys are following up their awesome 2007 album Shakedown with Shakedown II.
While the new album, which is released on Tuesday of next week, contains many unreleased gems that were only available as promos and included in these two mixes, there’s a bevy of new material including some hot classic a capellas which are probably a good hint of what’s to come. While I haven’t heard it yet, the tracklisting suggests massive hits to be released over the coming year(s). Frankly, you can thank Freemasons for this blog. I had stopped mixing in 2005 and completely got out all together, instead focusing on work. It wasn’t until later that year when Rick left town for his nieces quincenieta that a friend dragged me to Blake’s for a couple of cocktails that I heard “Mesmerized” by Faith Evans. Needless to say, I was blown away and my faith in club music had been restored. The rest is history.
I also want to make note that if you haven’t already, you should go ahead and re-sign up for my updates via the RSS feed or email or however you get them. If you’re wondering why you haven’t been receiving them, it’s because I had to change my feed due to some issues over at GoDaddy.com. I apologize for the inconvenience, and won’t mention it again.
I’ll be back later this evening with a HUGE update of Pride mixes from a variety of sources that have been good friends with this blog. If you don’t want to wait, you can click on everyone’s links under “Friends of the Family” and see what all they have in store for you. I also plan on being back sometime next week (hopefully by July 3rd) with the first of the BPM Summer Editions. I hope everyone has a fabulous and frivolous time at all the Pride events going on in your cities this weekend. I’ll catch you all this next week.
Until then…enjoy and HAPPY PRIDE!

Following up with yesterday’s post, I’ve got the final installment of CUWDM. The majority of the songs in this mix are taken from 2005 to 2007. They also show a greater diversity that includes, house, deep house, soulful, gospel and a lot of Latin beats. There are a couple of more recent hits like last year’s amazing “Chanson Du Soleil” with Gavin Bradley and the more recent #1 Traxsource hits “Any Love” with Rachel Claudio and “Near the Ocean” with Robin S. I had told you yesterday that Mariah Carey’s “Butterfly” would not be included only to have one of our followers Peter P. from the UK deliver me a CD rip of the song. I guess I stand corrected, it must have been available at one point in time. Usually you can find these in Amazon’s used CD store, but there were none to be had. Nevertheless, for posterities sake, the song from 1998 has been included and is quite possibly one of DJ Meme’s earliest commercial mixes that I’ve seen. You also get a French take of the classic Carol Douglas disco hit “Doctor’s Orders” by the fabulous Hanna Hais and a slew of Brazillian language tunes which border on French and Spanish. Collectively, this is a solid mix which will lift your spirits and brighten your soul.
As stated previously, I have a special mix going up on Friday. This would not have been made had it not been for the numerous requests by fans of this international superstar who is often compared to Madonna. That’s the only hint you’ll get. This mix will be ONLY for my Facebook fans. So, if you know who I’m talking about and you want to make sure you have access to the mix, then I highly recommend you sign up a.s.a.p. Once the mix goes up, only those that have joined prior to the post will be receiving the information to download the mix.
I suspect everyone is looking forward to the weekend. I know there are many Pride celebrations that have already started, but the main ones don’t come for a couple of weeks. Never fear, I’ll start posting the Pride mixes next week. I’ll be back on Friday with your special update. Until then, enjoy!

I admire if not in fact worship several prominent DJs and their work, but none more than DJ Meme. From the Latin beats of his native Brazil to the uplifting disco-house romps that recall the now infamous Salsoul Orchestra, his productions always leave me in a state of amazement if not euphoria. Blending new technology with old school, he manages to create a warmth that is seriously missing in today’s electronic music. Taking those extra steps to add real strings and/or brass, things that synthesizers have long since replaced, he manages to capture the magic that was once isolated to the 70s. Maybe my fascination with his style is because it captures an era that I was not really apart of. I’m not really certain. What I do know, is that he isn’t finished yet. In fact, I’d say he’s just getting started. While it is not uncommon for many producers to reach back into their bag of goodies from the 70s and 80s, none do it with the care and precision that DJ Meme does. Clearly he has a passion for making quality house music; one listen and you’ll know why.
Now I know many of you were probably expecting his remix of “Butterfly” by Mariah Carey. Unfortunately, that was only available on vinyl as a DJ Promo and never made commercially available. The only one I was able to find was very poor quality; so much so that even my remastering skills could not salvage it. Nevertheless, these mixes are perfect for a poolside party, and I think are just what you need to get your summer started. I hope everyone can appreciate the effort and magic that are poured into each selection. I’ll be back Wednesday with part two. Until then…enjoy!

Hello Kristine, my name is Keith W. from the Party Favorz blog. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule for this interview. have compiled a list of questions that I would like to ask you and several more from your fans. So, let’s get this started.
PF: First, I’d like to know how it is that a former Miss Washington goes on to become the toast of Las Vegas and now the ultimate diva of dance and the darling of the gay community? In other words, at what point in your life did you decide this is really what you wanted to do?
KW: Hi Keith: I worked my tail off doing thousands of shows 6 nights a week on various stages in Vegas and around the globe to pay my rent .Opportunities came my way while I out there grinding it out show by show. It is very hard work . I have always known I wanted to be a working musician ,songwriter performer. I am the forth generation of performers in my family.
PF: In 1996, my ex and I were about to go on a much needed vacation to the Bahamas. Prior to leaving, I had just received my latest issue of OUT magazine. In it was a review of “Land of the Living” which praised your work but stopped short of calling you “the second coming”. With that kind of send up, I was definitely intrigued and decided to pursue it once we got back from the trip. Fortunately, when we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale a week later, we decided at the last minute to rent a car and drive down to Key West. It was there that I saw the video of “One More Try” in a local bar and about wet myself. The next morning, I woke up and found the nearest record store (remember those) and bought their last CD they had in stock of “Land of the Living”. Once we got back home, I played your album over and over and for every friend that came to visit. I think I must have converted about 20 or 30 people in six months. To this day, “Land of the Living” is my favorite dance album and in fact, is in my top ten favorite albums of all-time . After listening to it in the car the other day, I have to say it still holds up very well. I guess my question to you is, were you disappointed by the fact that it wasn’t as big a hit as your fans feel it should have been? Clearly, “One More Try” is an achingly beautiful song perfectly tailored for pop radio, so what gives? Frankly, I’m hoping that some American Idol diva wannabe performs it live one day. I really do believe there’s a hit there waiting to make you millions in royalties. Just think of Whitney doing Dolly.
KW: ” The Land Of the Living “is a wonderful work and “One More Try”opened the door for emotionally revealing songs like” I Miss U’ . Sometimes you release music that is way ahead of it’s time . People were not being exposed to songs with such personal content. I am not bummed out because music has many lives.
PF: Before I move on to the “Power of Music”, I would be remiss in my duties if I didn’t bring this question up. With the whole Miss California debacle and her response to the question of Marriage Equality, what are your personal feelings about this issue and equal rights for gays and lesbians.
KW: Why should only the straight people suffer!, LOL . I am not a big fan of marriage . I have 2 divorced older siblings . It’s a sore subject .
PF: It’s been thirteen years since the release of “Land of the Living” and you are now about to release your fourth album “The Power of Music”. You have been with a major recording label (RCA Records) for your first two albums and one of the largest independent record labels (Tommy Boy) for your third. Now, you are releasing your latest album on your own label ‘Fly Again Music’. Clearly, you have taken full control of your name, identity, music and career. What necessitated your change in direction and what kind of advice would you give anyone trying to make it on their own in this business?
KW: My advise would be :To do an independent project You have to be ready to work your butt off and surround yourself with smart people that are fearless . This is going to be the wave of the future and so many artists are jumping ship because they see a sinking business model.
PF: You have already racked up four #1 club hits (’Walk Away’, ‘The Boss’, ‘Never’ & Love Is the Look) from an album that hasn’t been released yet. Personally, I think this is a testimony to your resilience and tenacity. I also think you’ve struck the very same chord that popularized disco in the mid to late 70s. Certainly it was a time of unrest, high inflation, high unemployment and things looked pretty bleak. Just as disco did in its heyday, your music provides people with much needed escapism. Was that intentional and can we expect more of the same once the album is finally released in mid June?
KW: Yes , You can always expect music from myself that is uplifting but hopefully connects with you emotionally. My fans letters and conversations are very woven into my songs . ” See My Eyes ,They Carry Your Reflection”. That was my first line from my first album” Land Of the Living”. That statement is still how I feel about my fans . I am no good without their feedback.
PF: You originally announced the release of “The Power of Music” in late 2007 along with another album “Straight Up with a Twist”. What has taken so long to get these out to your fans and when can we expect the latter to drop? Also, how do you plan on touring behind both albums. Will your shows be a combination of the two or will they be separate based on the venue?
KW: They were both very expensive albums and since my shows and appearances have financed them both It has taken four years and many shows to get to this point. This is something I have never done so we are charting new territory together. I hope it works so other artists are encouraged to try it.
PF: Last year, you had the opportunity to tour with Barry Manilow. Did he have any influence or provide any help in the making of “Straight Up with a Twist”? Also, since he’s good friends with the fabulous Bette Midler, have you ever thought about doing a duet with her? I think you two together would be absolutely fierce and a guaranteed hit. If anything, you could approach her with the idea and donate the proceeds to your favorite charities. It’s just a thought.
KW: Barry Manilow is an amazing talent and a great human being . Just saw Bette’s show at Ceasars a week ago and it was great. I hope she organizes a concert to benefit her passions one them is the adopt a highway clean up campaign and she is also into restoring parks. I would be 1st in line to perform ,boy do we need support those 2 causes.
PF: I know these questions are long, but if you’ve ever read my blog or even met me, you’d know I type the way I talk…way too much, LOL. If you don’t mind, I have a few more questions submitted by your fans that I would like to ask.
Phillip wants to know if you will ever work with Rollo again and whether or not “Heaven Knows” will be released as a single?
KW: I love Rollo and we wrote” Into U” for the new album.
PF: Glenn from the U.K. wants to know if you’re ever going to perform there. He says you have an underground fan base that starts with him. He also wants to know if you’d consider recording the other half of ‘The Boss’, ‘No One Gets the Prize’ and what kind of music you listen to when you’re just hanging out. Since he asked the question about touring the U.K., I’ll go ahead and add Canada, Australia, Germany, France and Brazil to the list, since I have a lot of
followers from those countries as well.
KW: I am working with an agent Kevin Moss in the UK to make some dates over the pond happen. I am always open to recording cool covers and will check that song out.
PF: Christopher sent this from his iPhone: Love KW; I still regard ‘Land of the Living’ as the most amazing album of my time and I listen to it on a regular basis; even after ten years!! So while I don’t have a question I would like her to know that her talent is most welcomed and appreciated and that we look forward to hearing that amazing voice for years to come.
KW: To Christopher ” Thanks for the Love and i will see you at the summer shows. Go to my website
kristinew.com or my
MySpace/kristinew for all the tour schedule.
PF: Well that’s all I got for you. Kristine, it is my greatest pleasure being able to ask these questions. I just want you to know that I am a HUGE fan and am looking forward to seeing you in Atlanta where I can hopefully meet you in person and get “The Power of Music” autographed. Thank you for the love, hope and inspiration. I am in the ‘Land of the Living’ and loving it!
KW: Keith, I ‘m sending you a big hug and ” The Power Of Music” , KW
Follow Up: Phillip, Unfortunately, “Heaven Knows” did not make the cut for the new album, however there are other updated classics like “I’m Coming Out” and “Feel What You Want” that are included. You can view the complete track listing at Amazon.com and preview samples of the songs as well.

I decided I wanted the Party Favorz site to match the residence, so I went ahead and decorated on both fronts. Actually, Rick and I don’t put up decorations until the weekend of Thanksgiving. However, we both agreed we needed some Holiday cheer sooner rather than later. So, we pulled out all the lights and the wreaths and hung everything up with the precision and care of two old lady’s that have been collecting ornaments since their first husbands died…LOL. The most special item is our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree that we bought back in 2001, the first year we moved to Atlanta. We didn’t have a lot of money to burn, but we were at Michael’s (an arts and craft chain in the U.S.) and they had everything 50% off. We knew we couldn’t buy a real tree, and even if we did, my anal retentive self would have had to make all the decorations by hand; something I did flawlessly with my ex, who kept all of them…bitch! I digress. Anyway, that also costs money. So when I saw this little kinda ugly tree made out of dried branches and already decorated, I decided to find the money to rescue it. Obviously, I bought it and it’s been shining brightly every season ever since. Christmas trees are symbolic for the obvious reasons, but our little Charlie Brown tree symbolizes our first Christmas together and everything we did to get here. Due to its special nature, I just thought I would share that with you guys. Over the years we’ve added and removed stuff, always trying to keep it fresh; but at the end of the day it’s still our little Charlie tree. http://kjamproductions.googlepages.com/013_edited-2.jpg/013_edited-2-full;init:.jpg
As for the mix, I put this together off the cuff last year. King Street Sounds had put out an album called “Christmas in the House“ that was filled with some unmixed holiday deep house tunes. So, I bought it and mixed it up tacking on a couple of holiday dance classics at the end to round it out. This year, they have three more new tunes, but I couldn’t find the originals and wasn’t going to spend another $10 on something I previously owned. Since the blog was new anyway and I figured not that many people ever had the chance to download it, I decided to bring it back and share it again. The original upload was a 96 bitrate and this one is in 320 plus I added the Mariah Carey tune at the end, thus the ‘enhanced’ version. I know, usually an enhanced release contains more than one extra song plus a DVD, but I figured a higher quality version and one new song should suffice. Besides, I always wanted an enhanced version of my mixes…LOL. I’m not going to say this is for everyone, because it’s not. After all, it is true deep house. Nevertheless, if you’re a house head like me, I think you’ll appreciated the alternative to the traditional.
Anyway, this is my last diversion before we get back on track. When I mean on track, I mean full steam-a-rolling! I’ve got some big, big did I mention BIG updates that I’ll start rolling out sometime this coming weekend. So big, it should keep ya’ll swarming like a bunch of busy bees.
