Summer Throwback Dance Party returns with Volume 2 for 2026 on the eve of the United States’ 250th anniversary, and this one packs a serious punch. This latest edition features a couple more Michael Jackson throwback gems alongside an incredible mix of 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s mashups and reworks. Even the closing track, “Till The Lights Go Out,” is a modern mashup that incorporates “Talk To You” by ANOTR, bringing the journey full circle from yesterday’s classics to today’s dance music. Many of these selections remain timeless pop favorites, reworked and blended for today’s dancefloor while keeping everything that made them unforgettable in the first place.
Classic Throwbacks Meet Modern Mashups
Volume 2 of the Summer Throwback Dance Party series leans hard into the kind of songs that defined radio, clubs, skating rinks, house parties, and every other place where people came together to dance. These aren’t just random retro selections tossed into a mix. They’re familiar songs that still carry weight because they connect to specific moments in time.
That’s always been the power of a strong throwback set. A single hook can take you back to where you were, who you were with, and what life felt like before everything became so complicated. Whether it’s a 70s disco groove, an 80s pop anthem, a 90s house classic, or a 2000s club favorite, the music still works because the songs were built to last.
The newer mashups and reworks help freshen things up without stripping away the original charm. That balance matters. Some producers understand how to modernize a classic without burying it under too much production. Others go too far and leave very little of the original magic behind. Thankfully, this set focuses on the versions that keep the spirit intact while giving the dancefloor something new to grab onto.
AI Is Changing the Sound of Throwback Music
One trend that’s impossible to ignore is the growing role of artificial intelligence in music production. Several familiar classics now sound as though they’re being performed by entirely different artists when, in reality, they’re the original recordings with AI-altered vocals. Producers are changing keys, extending vocal ranges, adding harmonies, and reshaping performances while preserving the cadence and phrasing of the original track.
To my ears, this doesn’t necessarily diminish the songs. In some cases, it gives them a second life for newer audiences who may not have connected with the original version. At the same time, it also shows how many producers are leaning more heavily on technology than originality. Instead of creating something entirely fresh, they’re finding new ways to repackage songs people already know.
I’ve mentioned in previous editions of the Summer Throwback Dance Party series that many Funky House producers have been recycling tracks for years. Sometimes they make only minor changes before releasing them under completely different titles. At the height of that trend, there were simply too many releases to track every variation, which made occasional duplication almost impossible to avoid. Rather than fight it, we chose to embrace the music for what it was and let the mixes flow.
Why It’s Time to Wrap Up the Throwback Series
That brings us to an important announcement. We believe the Throwback Dance Party series has reached its natural conclusion, making these its final installments.
Later this year, Party Favorz will release a Best Of Throwback Dance Party collection featuring the biggest and most memorable tracks from the entire series. We’re also planning the same treatment for our Thank God It’s Disco series, which has likewise reached its creative peak. Expect two carefully assembled volumes for each collection featuring the very best dancefloor moments we’ve shared over the years.
It’s always difficult to close the door on a series that people have enjoyed, but sometimes the right move is to end it while the music still feels strong. These collections deserve a proper sendoff, and that’s exactly what we plan to give them.
America at 250: A Personal Reflection
As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary this Fourth of July weekend, I find myself feeling disconnected from what should be a historic celebration. America has achieved remarkable things over the past two and a half centuries, but it has also left behind deep scars that cannot be ignored. The displacement of Native Americans, slavery, and countless other injustices remain part of our shared history. Acknowledging those truths doesn’t diminish the nation’s achievements. It gives us a fuller picture of the country we’ve become.
For me personally, this anniversary carries a different meaning.
When Opportunity Isn't Equal
As a disabled American, I’ve spent much of my life watching opportunities disappear because employers couldn’t see beyond my disability. My resume consistently opened doors and earned interviews thanks to years of success in business management and marketing. But once I arrived in person, it often became painfully obvious that I wasn’t what they expected.
Ironically, one of the most successful chapters of my career came while working for my father’s struggling business. I completely restructured the company’s operations, modernized its marketing, streamlined its processes, and helped transform it into a multi-million-dollar success. Even my own mother once told me they wouldn’t have hired me if I hadn’t been their son. Hearing that from someone so close to me was painful, but it also confirmed what I already knew. Too many people saw my disability before they ever saw my abilities.
My father ultimately took credit for the turnaround and the changes that fueled the company’s success, even though I was the one who implemented them. That experience stayed with me because it wasn’t just about recognition. It was about being useful enough to fix the problem, but not visible enough to be credited for the solution.
Later, after being furloughed from AT&T as jobs were outsourced overseas, I found myself relying solely on my experience and accomplishments. Unfortunately, too many prospective employers saw my disability before they saw the qualifications. That’s a hard reality to sit with, especially in a country that celebrates opportunity as one of its founding promises.
That’s why, as America celebrates both Independence Day and its 250th anniversary, I can’t help but remember that the promises of opportunity and equality have not been experienced equally by everyone. For many Americans, including those living with disabilities, the pursuit of those ideals remains unfinished.
Thankfully, music has always been one place where everyone is welcome. On the dancefloor, backgrounds, politics, disabilities, and differences fade away. For a few hours, we’re simply united by great music, shared memories, and the joy of dancing together.
Happy 4th of July!
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Celebrate the Fourth With the Summer Throwback Dance Party
Now that we've put Gay Pride behind us, we're jumping straight into the Fourth of July with our latest Summer Throwback Dance Party mix to help make your holiday cookouts something worth celebrating. Sure, 2026 marks America's 250th birthday, but that's not exactly something I'm feeling particularly festive about. Instead, we're treating this Fourth of July like any other. That doesn't mean we should let everything happening around us — or the wannabe authoritarian currently occupying the White House — steal our joy. On the contrary, Party Favorz is here to make sure your holiday is filled with great music, good friends, and plenty of reasons to smile.
Michael Jackson Takes Center Stage
About a month ago, I received an email from a longtime follower suggesting I put together a Michael Jackson Legacy edition after the Michael movie reignited interest in his catalog. According to him, theaters were packed with audiences singing, dancing, and forgetting their worries for a couple of hours. While I ultimately decided not to produce a dedicated Legacy episode, I found the next best thing.
My DJ service recently added a wave of fresh remixes of Michael's biggest hits from the 1980s, and they were simply too good to ignore. That made him the perfect centerpiece for these first two volumes of the Throwback Dance Party series. Whatever your opinion of Michael Jackson's personal life, there's no denying his influence on pop music, dance culture, and generations of artists who followed. These updated remixes breathe new life into timeless classics while fitting seamlessly alongside the biggest party anthems spanning four decades of pop and dance music.
Leave Your Worries Behind
If ever there were a time to put the daily chaos aside and lose yourself in the music, this is it. That's always been what Party Favorz is about—bringing people together through great dance music. So fire up the grill, invite your friends and family over, crank this set up loud, grab a beer, margarita, or whatever your favorite beverage happens to be, and enjoy the holiday the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
Thank You for Your Support
A special thank-you goes out to Anthony for his generous donation to support Party Favorz. It's support like this that helps keep these mixes coming and reminds me why I've been doing this for nearly two decades.
We'll be back later this week with Volume 2 of the Summer Throwback Dance Party series. Until the next time...ENJOY!

Fall Throwback Dance Party Volume III: The Moment It All Clicked
Party Favorz is closing out the season with the third volume of our Fall Throwback Dance Party, and this one hits in a way the earlier entries didn’t quite manage. Volume III blends familiar classics from the ’70s and ’80s with ’90s House favorites and early-Millennium gems, but with a twist. These aren’t straight-up recreations. Instead, you get bold mashups, creative overlays, and unexpected pairings that turn well-known tracks into something entirely different.
Block & Crown and their extended circle continue to work their magic by stitching together instrumentals you know with vocals you may not expect. They frequently pull in Rap or Hip-Hop verses that weren’t part of the original songs, yet somehow elevate the energy. The result feels like two different worlds colliding on the dance floor—and it works far better than logic says it should. Their grasp of what drives a crowd is why these sets land so well. It really is a case of “it takes two to make a thing go right,” and these producers prove that point with every release.

Summer Throwback Dance Party 2025: Volume 1
To be blunt, I wasn’t feeling the first two volumes. Part of that was on me. I’ve been in and out of the hospital twice since late October dealing with sepsis, and even though the doctors helped me through it, the medications had me foggy. My focus was shot, my energy was low, and listening to music—something I normally love—felt like a chore.
I nearly shelved the entire Fall Throwback Dance Party run because the earlier mixes just weren’t clicking. On the drive home from the hospital, I revisited Volume II and felt a wave of annoyance settle in. Everything felt repetitive. The songs blurred together. Even though these producers often use templates in their workflow—which isn’t unusual for remix culture—it still didn’t land for me.
With nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and every type of specialist stopping by throughout the week, I didn’t have the mental space to sit down and give the music the attention it deserved. Everything was overwhelming, and Party Favorz took a back seat whether I wanted it to or not.
Thanksgiving Break: The Turning Point
Thanksgiving morning, I woke up around 2 AM with a rare pocket of quiet. I opened my folder for Volume III and realized the playlist was still unfinished. There weren’t enough tracks to shape it into a full mix. Because Block & Crown and the related Funky House crew release tons of material every week, I decided to check my DJ service to see what I had missed since my first pass in October.
This is where everything changed.A wave of strong releases had dropped—finally showcasing the punch, bounce, and grit that I expect from these producers. I downloaded everything that caught my ear and threw it straight into the playlist. Once I began mixing, the frustration I carried from the earlier volumes melted away. The grooves locked in. The energy felt right. For the first time in months, I felt like myself again behind the decks.
Tightening the Mix
The next night (again at 2 AM—apparently that’s my hour), I sat down to tighten the transitions. Many of these Funky House tracks have long outros that drag on. Beatport may categorize them as Funky House, but the arrangement leans heavily toward late ’90s and early-Millennium structure—long build-ups, long breakdowns, and long fade-outs. That style worked for club DJs back then, but modern listeners want momentum.
So I trimmed the fat.I cut down repetitive endings and kept the energy moving. Track-to-track flow is everything in a Fall Throwback Dance Party set, and these edits keep things from losing steam.
Why These Sets Aren’t Easy
People often assume these sets are simple because they rely on recognizable songs. The opposite is true. Most tracks in this space avoid traditional breakdowns. That means I can’t always use my standard approach to mixing. I pull out techniques I rarely rely on, adjust on the fly, and shape transitions that suit the odd structures these remixes use.
After producing so many Throwback sessions over the years, though, I’ve gotten fast at finding the sweet spot. What once took hours now comes together far more efficiently. That confidence helped Volume III come to life without the struggle that dragged down the earlier volumes.
Looking Ahead: Holiday Edition and Year-End Plans
Time is tight this year, so the Holiday Edition may or may not happen. Those mixes cost the most to produce, but recent donations have helped enough that it’s at least possible. If I go forward with it, the Top Dance Songs of the Year rollout will likely start in late December and wrap in early January 2026. I’ve done that before, and it’s the only realistic way to balance everything happening behind the scenes.
Either way, Volume III of the Fall Throwback Dance Party marks a return to form, and I hope that comes through when you listen.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Party Favorz Returns With Volume II
Party Favorz is back with Volume II of the Fall Throwback Dance Party mix for 2025 — and this one spanks. As promised, this set leans into familiarity with recognizable dubs woven through tracks from your past. Remixers have a real talent for pulling together different genres and decades, creating something new that still sparks instant memories. Some of these combinations hit so well they’ll have you out of your seat.
A Much-Needed Medical BreakthroughYesterday’s outpatient procedure to seal off the faulty veins in my leg was a turning point. For the first time in months, I woke up without that familiar throbbing rush the moment my feet hit the floor. That alone felt like a gift. Later this morning, I’ll be checking into Emory Hospital for a full debridement under anesthesia. Many of you saw the earlier photo I shared, so you already know how important this step is. Clearing all the necrotic tissue at once is far more effective than the four months of manual removals I endured earlier this year — a slow, brutally painful process even with medication.
Why Volume III Will Be Briefly DelayedBecause of this short hospital stay, the release of Volume III — the final chapter of the Fall Throwback Dance Party series — will be pushed back slightly. Even so, we’re still aligned with the rest of the year’s plans. Once I’m home and settled, the next Club Fusion installment, Jingle Electric, will be moving forward.
A Tough Call About the Holiday EditionI’m also making the difficult decision to skip this year’s Holiday Edition. It’s not just the time crunch — producing those mixes costs over sixty dollars each, and right now, that kind of expense isn’t realistic. On top of my medical bills, the avalanche of costs from my last hospital stay has been enormous. Between essential Amazon purchases and replacing a bricked phone, the financial hit has been hard to ignore. If you’ve checked the donation portal lately, you know the situation already speaks for itself.
Looking Toward Thanksgiving WeekendMy goal is to release Volume III the weekend after Thanksgiving. With the holiday slowing down the constant flow of nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, I should finally have the quiet time needed to wrap it up.
If You Want Party Favorz To ContinueIf these mixes have carried you through workouts, weekends, holidays, or late-night escapes — and you want them to keep coming — please consider supporting Party Favorz through the donation portal. Even small contributions help stabilize things during a year where medical demands have taken such a toll. Your support genuinely keeps this project alive.
I’ll be back next weekend, and until then…ENJOY!

Party Favorz is back in the saddle and kicking off the next round of the Fall Throwback Dance Party series. This first volume blends 70s, 80s, and 90s gems into a Funky House ride that hits all the right nerves. There’s a strong lean into 80s-style R&B dance grooves this time—plenty of deep cuts, and many so under-the-radar that even I had trouble tracing their origins. Still, the sound is unmistakably rooted in classic 80s R&B club culture, and these tracks hold up right alongside the songs you already know. Nothing here breaks the flow; it only adds to the flavor. Expect even more familiarity in the next two volumes of the Fall edition.
I knocked out this mix around two in the morning—insomnia is still running the show. Nighttime pain keeps me from getting more than a few hours of sleep, but I’m hoping that shifts soon. I’ve got outpatient surgery coming up to improve blood flow in my leg, which should speed the healing process. After that, I’m scheduled for another procedure to remove the necrotic tissue you may have seen in the not-so-pleasant photo I shared earlier. On top of that, I have a rotating team of nurses handling wound care several times a week, plus physical and occupational therapists helping me strengthen my lower extremities and learn how to maneuver the wheelchair safely inside my apartment. It’s a lot at once, but I’m adjusting to the chaos one day at a time.
All of this has thrown off my usual workflow for building these mixes. The hardest part is not being able to drive, which means I can’t preview the sets in the car—my old go-to for checking transitions, flow, and overall energy. Right now, I have to trust my instincts during the build phase instead of reviewing the mixes in full ahead of release. Thankfully, the instincts are still sharp, but if you catch any transitions that sound slightly off, let me know and I’ll patch them.
Meanwhile, the Party Favorz site is going through a few cosmetic changes. Nothing major—streaming and downloads are still running normally. Some of the visual updates hit a snag, and we’re working through them, so don’t panic if something looks a little odd for a moment. We’ve had offers to completely rebuild the website, but a full redesign just isn’t in the budget right now. So we’re polishing what we can, modernizing the look bit by bit, and keeping everything functional while we work through it.
Volume 2 of the Fall Throwback Dance Party is almost wrapped, and Volume 3 is already queued up next. Both should land in the coming week and bring us back to more familiar territory while keeping the vibe you expect from this series.
Before I close out, I do want to mention something important. Party Favorz has always been a labor of love, but keeping it running—especially now—comes with real costs. If you enjoy the mixes, the history, the artwork, the remasters, or the constant flow of sets year-round, consider tossing a little support our way. Even a small recurring contribution makes a meaningful difference and helps keep Party Favorz alive, especially as I’m managing medical challenges on top of production. No pressure, no hard sell—just an open invitation if you’re able and willing.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

In preparation for the release of the third and final volume, BackSpin [2011—2012] Volume 10 has been refreshed to include the Bodybangers remix of “Mr. Saxobeat” by Alexandra Stan. While the track only saw moderate success in the United States—peaking at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching #4 on the Dance Airplay chart—it became a massive hit across Europe, topping charts in multiple countries and solidifying Stan’s breakout moment.
As promised, Party Favorz is back with Volume 2 of our BackSpin series, featuring the biggest Electro House hits and dance anthems from 2011–2012.
If you’ve landed here because you were searching for 2010s EDM classics or simply feeling nostalgic for those nights when you were young, fearless, and living for the weekend, you’re in the right place. BackSpin is all about revisiting the most iconic club hits from any given year in the Millennium. We’ve been moving chronologically—starting from 1999—highlighting the tracks that owned the dancefloor and the DJs who made them global sensations.
While 2011 and 2012 might not seem that far back, life has changed for many of us. Careers, families, and unexpected twists have reshaped our worlds, but these dance music time capsules can transport you right back to your prime. Whether you were tearing it up in Ibiza, sweating it out at a packed festival, or dancing until sunrise at your favorite club, these songs hit like a rush of pure adrenaline.
This era marked the peak of the EDM boom. David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, and Tiësto weren’t just DJs (amongst countless others)—they were architects of the modern EDM sound. Listening to their early 2010s work in past BackSpin volumes reveals the transition from expansive, multi-drop anthems that built anticipation for minutes, to today’s shorter, high-impact remixes designed to hook listeners instantly. Streaming culture rewards the quick hit, but back then, it was all about the journey from the first beat to the final drop.
These tracks aren’t just songs—they’re snapshots of the 2011–2012 club scene. They capture the moment when Electro House ruled festivals, dominated radio, and blurred the lines between underground cool and mainstream fame. You’ll hear remixes that still hold up, hooks that still get stuck in your head, and beats that could still pack a dancefloor in seconds.
We could talk about this period—and the broader history of EDM and House Music—forever, but the best way to understand its magic is to listen . So, turn it up, get lost in the rhythm, and relive the energy of 2011 and 2012 all over again.
Expect Volumes 11 and 12 from this period to drop in early to mid-September, bringing even more EDM favorites and club classics from the era.
While the BackSpin series spotlights key two-year periods in dance music culture, it’s by no means the full story. For a deeper year-by-year look, check out our Top Dance Songs of the Year category, where we feature the biggest dance songs from 1996 to today. You’ll also find an extensive back catalog of genre-specific sets under our Dance Classics section, including ’70s & ’80s Disco Classics, ’80s Dance, ’90s House Music Classics, Trance Classics, Eurodance Classics, Gay Anthems, and more. It’s a complete journey through the beats that shaped the dancefloor across decades.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Party Favorz is back with the latest installment of our BackSpin series, spotlighting the Electro House and crossover dance hits that ignited 2011–2012. These two whirlwind years marked EDM’s jump from niche festival staple to mainstream juggernaut, thanks to headline makers like David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia. Their success opened the floodgates for pop stars who craved festival-sized drops—and fans who wanted club energy in their earbuds.
Guetta, SHM & the EDM Gold Rush
David Guetta’s hit-factory formula primed radio for four-on-the-floor beats, but it was Swedish House Mafia’s stadium-grade anthem “Don’t You Worry Child” that proved big-room hooks could rule the Hot 100. Released in September 2012, the track scaled charts on both sides of the Atlantic, cementing Electro House as a pop force and setting a template today’s producers still chase.
Rihanna & Calvin Harris: Lightning in a Bottle
When Rihanna paired with Calvin Harris on “We Found Love”, the song detonated—ten weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and endless DJ spins. Harris stayed in her orbit with “Where Have You Been,” keeping the singer on dance-floor rotation while boosting his own superstar status. Their combo of emotive vocals and festival-ready synths became EDM’s new blueprint for crossover success.
Katy Perry & Ke$ha: Pop Royalty Goes Electro
Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream era technically started in 2010, yet its remix packages stretched well into 2012. dancefloor makeovers of “Firework”, The One That Got Away, and “Last Friday Night” guaranteed Perry prime placement in every peak-hour set. Meanwhile, Ke$ha fed party animals with brat-pop bangers like “Blow” and 2012’s “Die Young,” each armed with remix bundles that slammed straight into the dance-charts.
Lady Gaga: An Enduring LGBTQ Anthem
With “Born This Way”, Gaga delivered a universal call-to-arms wrapped in Electro House armor. Remixers—from Chew Fu and Bimbo Jones to Manhattan Clique and Michael Woods—ensured every LGBTQ+ sub-scene had a tailored version. The result? A gay anthem that moved from Pride parades to prime-time radio without losing an ounce of edge, while becoming a staple in every subsequent Gay Pride celebration.
J.Lo Reinvents, Pitbull Dominates
Dropped by Epic, Jennifer Lopez landed at Island Def Jam and roared back with “On the Floor”—No. 1 in 30-plus countries. Follow-ups “I’m Into You” and “Papi” proved she wasn’t done. Even Epic tried to cash in on her newfound success, dusting off “Dance Again” from her vault, and yes, it’s still a gem.During the same stretch, Pitbull attached his Miami swagger to every chart contender. “Give Me Everything” with Ne-Yo defined 2011’s summer and turned Mr. 305 into Mr. Worldwide. Oversaturation risk? Sure. But Pitbull spun it into a multi-million-dollar empire.
Boy-Band Face-Off: The Wanted vs. One Direction
Scooter Braun-backed The Wanted cracked the U.S. with “Glad You Came,” snagging two Dance Club No. 1s and earning a rightful slot here for our overseas audience. Yet they soon found themselves outshone by One Direction. The newcomers’ bubble-gum hooks, polished by Electro-leaning remixes, sent them rocketing past their rivals—proof that teen-pop floor-fillers never go out of style.
Nicki Minaj Bridges Genres
Before every rapper flirted with EDM, Nicki Minaj jumped in headfirst. “Super Bass,” “Starships,” and “Pound the Alarm” blended day-glo synths with rapid-fire bars—catnip for DJs hunting fresh Electro House ammo. Minaj’s genre-hopping approach mirrored the Black Eyed Peas’ earlier success and showed hip-hop could thrive atop a four-on-the-floor backbone.
Big-Room Anthems & Indie Surprises
Fun.’s “We Are Young” tapped millennial angst and nostalgia, then Alvin Risk’s remix set emo hearts racing in every club line. Festival favorites like Avicii’s “Levels” and Porter Robinson’s “Language” gave progressive-house fans their own widescreen moments, rounding out a scene that felt limitless.
What’s Next for BackSpin
We’ve only scratched the surface. BackSpin Vol. 10 drops Sunday, with Vols. 11 and 12 landing in early to mid-September. After all, summer is still going strong so watch for Beach House 2025, Vol. 2 and Summer Heat 2025 Vol. 2 as August rolls toward Labor Day. More Electro House nostalgia, more dance hits, and more reasons to crank the volume are on deck.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Party Favorz returns—surprisingly quick—with Volume 3 of the Summer Throwback Dance Party 2025. This last blast stretches the feel-good journey even further, stacking fresh and funky gems from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s. Feeling extra nostalgic, we even tossed in a pair of ’60s sing-along classics every bar crowd has belted out at least once over the past five decades.
The result? A nonstop, pool-ready soundtrack built for cannonballs, cold drinks, and backyard barbeque. We’re worn out—but you know how Party Favorz rolls. There’s no time to lounge because the annual Beach Party set is already in the works. Expect a sun-kissed wave of Funky-Disco-House grooves designed to lift spirits and help everyone forget—if only briefly—how chaotic the country feels right now coming your way soon.
We’re not here to proselytize (well, not most of the time). We’re here to pour a little sonic sunshine into your long holiday weekend—and light up every corner of your next gathering.

WHOA NELLY! Party Favorz has been working overtime to wrap up as much as possible before the July 4th holiday—and we're dropping Volume 2 of the Summer Throwback Dance Party 2025 a day earlier than expected.
This second set is packed with fan favorites, whether they were originally crafted for the dancefloor or not. Each track has been given a remix refresh, making them fit right into your summer celebration. Even better—this volume is loaded with all-new remixes, so there shouldn't be any repeats (but we won't swear on it).
I’ve got a full day ahead—heading into Atlanta for a doctor’s appointment, grabbing groceries, and picking up some new fish for our aquarium we had ordered—so I’m keeping this brief.
Don’t worry, Volume 3 is still on the way and should drop in the next few days, right before we shift gears into our regular summer fare. Until then, crank up the speakers and have a safe, happy 4th of July!

It's that time again—just before the July 4th holiday—when Party Favorz serves up a sizzling summer throwback dance mix perfect for your backyard BBQ, pool party, or solo kitchen shuffle. And yes, we’re talking all-ages fun here.
If you’re new to this series, Summer Throwback Dance Party is where nostalgia meets the remix. These sets are loaded with classic Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, and Dance hits from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s—songs everyone knows and loves—reimagined for today's dance floor. Some tracks mash two iconic hits into a new experience. Others stay faithful to the original but are given a modern boost. Either way, this is a throwback dance mix with universal appeal that keeps the energy high and the vibes carefree.
Old Favorites, New Twists
With each release, I aim to bring something fresh—whether through updated remixes or clever mashups—but it’s not always easy to keep track. Block & Crown, GhostMasters, Ghoustbusterz, The Soul Gang, FlashDancers, Disco Gurls... they’ve all been incredibly prolific. Aside from Block & Crown, most of these names are aliases for the same core group of ghost producers who recycle tracks, change titles, and rebrand under different monikers. One week it’s a “new” release. The next, it’s a rehash of something they dropped six months ago under another name.
I do my best not to repeat tracks from past volumes, but when the remix is good and the groove is timeless, I say let it ride. At the end of the day, a great jam is still a great jam—especially when you’re trying to get the party started.
Volume 1 Is Just the Beginning
Since last year’s Fall Throwback Dance Party, the flood of new retro-inspired tracks has been nonstop. There’s been so much quality output that I had enough material for three volumes this go-around. Because of time constraints, I’m rolling out Volume 1 today and plan to drop Volume 2 by Friday. Volume 3? That one’s coming next week.
No worries though—between this release and what’s coming later in the week, there’s more than enough fuel to keep your holiday playlist spinning. Mix in previous sets, and you've got hours of nonstop throwback party energy. By the time Volume 3 lands, it’ll feel like it was always part of the plan.
One Nation, Under a Groove
Whether you’re reliving your high school dance floor days or introducing the younger crowd to some real classics, there’s something for everyone here. From the ’60s (yes, I slipped a few gems in) through the 2000s, this throwback dance party is built to unite generations. These are the songs that made us move then—and still get us hyped now.
So go ahead—fire up the grill, crack open a cold one, and dance like nobody's watching. Whether it’s 1999 or any other golden year of your past, this Summer Throwback mix was made for moments like these.
Volume 2 is dropping Friday. Until the next time...ENJOY!

Just when you thought we’d emptied the vault of bangers from this era, BackSpin Volume 7 comes stomping in with another round of club anthems that defined the dancefloors of 2009 and 2010. This was not a chill period in dance music—it was a full-throttle takeover. These weren’t just tracks you heard in the club; they were the soundtracks to pre-games, afterparties, breakups, hookups, and everything in between.
By this point, Electro House had become the default language of clubland. It didn’t matter if the artist was an underground favorite or a Disney Channel graduate—everyone wanted in on the energy. And with remixers like Dave Audé, Mike Rizzo, Jody den Broeder, and Jump Smokers consistently delivering top-shelf work, the line between pop and club music completely vanished.
Remix Culture Was King
Let’s be real—some of these tracks hit harder in their remixed versions than the originals ever could. Usher’s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” was already slick, but Jump Smokers cranked it up with a glammed-up club version that dominated summer playlists. Christina Aguilera’s “Not Myself Tonight” might’ve been polarizing on radio, but Jody den Broeder turned it into a pulsing floor-filler with an edge. Black Eyed Peas continued their chart domination with “Imma Be” and “Meet Me Halfway,” both of which got remixed within an inch of their lives—one dirty, one dreamy, and both undeniable.
And let’s talk about Lady Gaga, who basically lived on the dance charts during this period. You’ll find three of her biggest tracks here—“Bad Romance,” “Paparazzi,” and “Love Game”—all reworked by Dave Audé into high-energy triumphs that left no corner of the dancefloor untouched.
The Rise of Selena Gomez
One of the most fascinating shifts during this period was the arrival of Selena Gomez—best known at the time as a squeaky-clean Disney princess. But her early releases with The Scene were smart, polished pop that lent themselves surprisingly well to club remixes. “Round & Round” and “A Year Without Rain” became club favorites thanks to 7th Heaven and Dave Audé, respectively, who transformed them into soaring dance tracks without stripping away her youthful charm. Selena’s transition from Disney darling to legitimate pop artist began here, and the clubs were ready to embrace her.
Ke$ha’s Party Nation
Also bursting into the scene like a glitter bomb was Ke$ha, whose breakout hit “TiK ToK” became a global party anthem. Fred Falke’s remix gave it just enough disco-drenched sophistication while keeping its messy, rebellious spirit intact. Ke$ha’s arrival signaled a new wave of club pop—raucous, unfiltered, and entirely self-aware. She didn’t just want to party—she was the party.
European Imports & Global Crossovers
This volume also shines a light on the growing influence of European club culture on the American mainstream. Edward Maya’s “Stereo Love” with its infectious accordion hook brought Romanian house to global attention, while Alex Gaudino’s “I’m In Love (I Wanna Do It)” showcased the sleek, sexy appeal of Italian house with a Wideboys polish. And let’s not forget Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey,” which proved that a deep house groove could still cut through in a sea of EDM bangers—especially when remixed by Vandalism.
David Guetta: Architect of the Era
Guetta’s fingerprints are all over this era, and nowhere is that more obvious than his work on “Sexy Bitch” with Akon and his remix of Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow.” His production wasn’t just influential—it defined the electro-pop aesthetic of the time. His music lived at the intersection of hip-hop swagger, pop accessibility, and EDM power, helping turn club music into a true pop force.
The Bold, the Brash, and the Unfiltered
This volume doesn’t shy away from explicit energy, either. Lily Allen and CeeLo Green both show up here in their no-holds-barred form, each delivering sarcastic kiss-offs in “Fuck You,” made even bolder in club-ready remixes by Rich Morel and the Stonemasons. Tracks like “Sexy People” by Lolene and Paradiso Girls’ “Who’s My Bitch” pushed the envelope in both sound and attitude—flirty, fierce, and far from family-friendly.
From Ibiza to Main Street
Whether it’s Swedish House Mafia’s jet-setting anthem “Miami 2 Ibiza” or Shakira’s wild “Loca” reimagined by the Freemasons, this era was all about movement—geographically, musically, and emotionally. These weren’t just club hits; they were cultural markers that signaled how far EDM had come from its underground roots. Everyone was invited to the party, and no genre was off-limits.
BackSpin Volume 7 isn’t just a continuation—it’s a celebration of how deeply dance music had woven itself into every aspect of pop culture by the end of the decade. These tracks weren’t just playing at the club; they were playing everywhere. From bedroom iPods to high school dances to festival stages, this was the sound of a generation finding its rhythm in uncertain times.
Volume 8 will be dropping next, rounding out this pivotal era with more certified club gold. Until then, crank it loud, lose yourself in the beat, and remember just how good the chaos sounded.
Until the next time…ENJOY!

It’s time once again to rewind the clock and fire up your favorite dance memories with Volume 6 of our BackSpin series, spotlighting the electric surge of Electro House and other club-defining hits from the early millennium. This installment zeroes in on 2009–2010—two powerhouse years that marked a massive turning point for electronic dance music and the global club scene.
By this point, the shimmering dominance of the big room anthems helmed by remix legends like Thunderpuss, Hex Hector, and Victor Calderone had begun to fade. Their reign throughout the late '90s and early 2000s had set the standard for peak-hour energy, but by 2009, a new breed of producers began rewriting the rulebook.
The Electro House Revolution
This was the moment when Electro House officially took center stage. David Guetta broke into the U.S. mainstream and never looked back, while the Swedish House Mafia began building their empire brick by brick. Artists like Bimbo Jones, Jody den Broeder, Wideboys, Jump Smokers, Mike Rizzo, and Wawa steadily made names for themselves by turning pop into gold—remixing everything from the obvious club fodder to unexpected chart-toppers. Their influence was unmistakable. If their names were attached to a remix, you knew you were in for something massive.
What made this shift so monumental is that the remixers became just as famous—if not more so—than the original artists. Guetta and Swedish House Mafia didn’t just fill clubs; they packed stadiums and headlined the very festivals that were just beginning to explode in North America. Electronic music wasn’t just for the underground anymore—it was pop.
Commercial Kings of the Club Charts
Yet, while Guetta and SHM were scaling the highest heights, others carved out their own niche—less flashy but no less effective. Remix powerhouses like Cahill, Moto Blanco, and Dave Audé were hitting hard and consistently. Their mixes dominated Billboard's Dance Club charts and brought just the right balance of commercial accessibility and dancefloor credibility.
Moto Blanco leaned heavily into Disco House—reinventing the genre with crisp, soulful vocals over chugging basslines and glittery synths. Meanwhile, Cahill and Dave Audé turned pop tracks into pure club fuel, often elevating songs far beyond their original versions. These guys weren’t interested in the spotlight—they were all about the sound. And club DJs and promoters knew: if you needed a floor-filler, you grabbed a remix from one of them.
Pop Royalty Ascends
This stretch also marked a major shift in pop culture, with a new generation of women dominating both the charts and the dancefloor. Rihanna was rising like a phoenix, bouncing back stronger than ever after a public and painful incident with Chris Brown. Her music during this period—fueled by edgy production and fearless visuals—reflected both vulnerability and power. Tracks like "Rude Boy" and "Only Girl (In the World)" came armed with heavyweight remixes that ruled the clubs for months.
Lady Gaga, meanwhile, was in full throttle. With her outrageous fashion, theatrical videos, and back-to-back club smashes like "Bad Romance" and "Poker Face," she wasn’t just entering the scene—she was detonating it. At the time, it felt like she might actually steal Madonna’s crown, and to many, she did—at least for a while.
And let’s not forget Katy Perry. Her rise was meteoric, with hits like “California Gurls,” “Firework,” and later “Teenage Dream” becoming club essentials thanks to thunderous remixes by the very names featured in this series. Her playful, candy-coated persona masked some serious hit-making power, and remixers were quick to latch on, creating versions of her songs that lit up dancefloors worldwide. Katy cemented herself not just as a pop icon but as a club favorite in her own right.
Ke$ha also burst onto the scene like a glitter-drenched hurricane. With “TiK ToK,” she tapped into a post-recession party spirit—equal parts carefree and rebellious—that resonated with a generation eager to escape. Remixers pounced on her tracks, transforming them into late-night anthems that soundtracked everything from warehouse raves to sweaty club floors.
Meanwhile, the Black Eyed Peas went from critically acclaimed hip-hop outsiders to mainstream juggernauts, fully embracing the EDM explosion. Tracks like “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling” didn’t just dominate the radio—they took over nightlife culture. Much of their electronic pivot was shaped by David Guetta, whose collaboration on “I Gotta Feeling” launched a lasting creative partnership and helped blur the lines between pop, hip-hop, and house. Guetta’s touch was unmistakable—slick, high-energy, and made for massive crowds. That relationship not only reshaped the Peas' sound but also helped normalize EDM influences in Top 40 pop, paving the way for the genre’s commercial golden age.
By 2010, the remix wasn't just an accessory—it was the main event. Pop stars became club icons, and producers like Guetta were just as responsible for shaping the mainstream sound as the artists themselves.
More Than Nostalgia—It’s a Movement
This era wasn’t just exciting—it was relentless. So much quality dance music poured out of these two years that condensing it into a single volume would’ve been criminal. That’s why Party Favorz is rolling out this period across three volumes instead of two. There’s simply too much gold here to gloss over.
Volume 6 kicks things off strong, but Volumes 7 and 8 will follow shortly—bringing more of the same high-energy, club-thumping brilliance that defined a generation. Think of it as a time capsule from the days when the economy may have been in the toilet, but there was always a club, a party, or a DJ spinning something that made you forget your problems—at least for the night.
So go ahead—dust off those old iPods, or better yet, load up your streaming apps. Whether you were dancing your way through college, bartending on the weekends, or just living for the next Saturday night, this was the soundtrack of your life.
Get ready to relive it all.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Party Favorz is back with Volume 5 of our BackSpin series, spotlighting standout cuts from the golden age of Dance Club Songs. This edition focuses squarely on the biggest dance and club hits from 2007 to 2008—an era that bridged the raw energy of Electro House with the tail end of the millennium’s peak clubbing scene.
If you were anywhere near a dancefloor during this time, chances are you’ll recognize most—if not all—of the tracks included here. Each one dominated the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart and captured the diverse pulse of the scene. From euphoric anthems to deep, soulful grooves, this was a period where musical experimentation met mainstream success.
A Deep Cut That Still Resonates
One of the undeniable standouts in this set is The Cure & The Cause by Fish Go Deep featuring Tracey K. While the original release had multiple remixes, it was DJ Meme’s version that truly left its mark. Known for channeling the Salsoul era with real string sections and deep, disco-rooted energy, Meme’s remix paid tribute to the late ‘70s underground—offering something completely unique in a sea of Electro House and Big Room soundscapes. Its lush arrangement made it a refreshing outlier, a reminder of the artistry that once dominated dance floors way back in the day.
Extended Mixes That Kept Us Moving
Another thing that sets this era apart? The length of these tracks. Seriously—they were long. We’re talking 8 to 10-minute versions that DJs could ride for ages, keeping the energy high and the transitions smooth. The early Electro House movement embraced this approach, making sure partygoers stayed glued to the dancefloor for extended stretches.
While we aimed to preserve the integrity of the originals, we also made a few light edits for the sake of flow. For example, The Cure & The Cause originally clocked in at a full 10 minutes. A more accessible 6+ minute edit was released later, and that’s the version featured in this volume.
How Streaming Changed the Club Mix
As streaming platforms took off in the late 2000s, track lengths shrank. The push for more plays led to songs being chopped down to under three minutes—great for radio-style streaming, but awful for club DJs. This unfortunate trend carried over to remix culture. While we’ve bounced back a bit, with the average remix now hovering around five minutes, it’s still not quite where it used to be.
The reality is, shorter edits limit a DJ’s flexibility. When you’re forced to use effects or create unnatural transitions just to make a mix work, it can pull the listener out of the experience. Ideally, we’d find a sweet spot around seven minutes—long enough to build momentum, but short enough to stay focused on the music. Whether we’ll ever return to that balance remains to be seen.
What's Coming Next
We hope you’ve been enjoying these nostalgic trips back to clubland. Next up, we’ll be jumping into the 2009–2010 era in Volume 6, which should be dropping sometime in May. But before that, it’s almost time for our annual Spring Break Edition—you know, that over-the-top celebration of the hottest new Dance Club Songs leading into summer. Expect that one to drop in the next couple of weeks.
Until the next time...ENJOY!
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated toward my medical expenses. I didn’t post about my situation expecting anything—just wanted to share what I was going through. That said, your generosity means the world to me and will go a long way in easing the burden of ongoing medical debt. I’m truly grateful for each and every one of you.

Party Favorz is back with another round of our BackSpin series, this time moving into the transformative era of 2007 to 2008—an especially meaningful period as it marks the birth of this very podcast. These were the years that saw dance music shifting dramatically, with the big room circuit style starting to cool off just as Electro House began rising from the underground and taking over mainstream dance floors.
But the evolution wasn’t one-dimensional.
This era ushered in a diverse set of trends that helped shape the sound of modern dance. It was the rise of remix royalty like Freemasons, Moto Blanco, and Cahill. Each brought their own distinct flair to the genre. Freemasons blended traditional House with Electro influences, Moto Blanco leaned deep into shimmering Disco House, and Cahill straddled both worlds with a clean, pop-forward edge. Their remixes were everywhere—especially for big-name artists. Back then, the bigger the artist, the more labels were willing to shell out for high-profile remixers. That is, until budgets began shrinking and labels stopped cutting those massive checks.
Fast-forward 15 years, and platforms like SoundCloud changed the game again. Suddenly, bootleg remixes became marketing tools, not just club exclusives. DJs had to hustle to make a name for themselves—often remixing tracks for free in the hopes of being discovered or landing a record deal.
A Remix Renaissance
During this same stretch, a powerhouse of remixers emerged and defined the dancefloor. Bimbo Jones, Seamus Haji, Soul Seekerz, Wideboys, Dave Audé, Jody den Broeder, and a revitalized StoneBridge (whose roots go back to the ’90s) were dropping fire left and right.
Meanwhile, some of the biggest names from the big room era still held their ground. Chris Cox (post-Thunderpuss), Ralphi Rosario, Tony Moran, Johnny Vicious, and DJ Escape kept delivering heavy, floor-shaking anthems that balanced out the sleeker, more polished productions coming from the Electro and Disco House scenes. This blend of sounds made for one of the most diverse periods in dance music—something we haven’t quite seen repeated since.
A Pop Diva Takeover
The pop landscape at the time wasn’t sitting quietly either. Britney Spears was staging a massive comeback, Beyoncé and Rihanna were dominating charts globally, and Robyn was redefining what electro-pop could be. Their tracks became essential remix material and ruled dance floors from coast to coast. We've packed both volumes of this series with heavy doses of these queens because, frankly, they owned this era.
Now, if you’re looking for a broader reflection of each year's biggest dance anthems, don't miss our Top Dance Songs of the Year series. Those sets provide a deeper look into the biggest hits and underground standouts from each year.
A Personal Evolution
For me, this wasn’t just a turning point for music—it was a turning point for Party Favorz itself.
This was the moment we shifted from burning and distributing CDs in clubs and at festivals to launching the podcast. Suddenly, the reach was global, and the feedback was immediate. But beyond the growth in listenership, the music itself opened my ears—and my mind—to styles I hadn’t previously embraced. Until then, I had been locked into the big room circuit sound. But what was coming out during this time was just too good to ignore.
That realization led directly to the creation of the Funky House and Peak Hour series. There was simply too much top-tier music that didn’t fit the traditional mold, and it needed a platform. The podcast became the place to house it all. It allowed me to expand the universe of Party Favorz and bring listeners along for the ride.
This One's for the Party People!
If you lived through this period—or just want to experience the magic for the first time—these sets are dedicated to you. This was an electric, creative time when boundaries were pushed and styles blended in fresh, exciting ways.
Volume 5 drops tomorrow. You won’t want to miss it.
Until the next time...ENJOY!
