Winter Edition 2009 Volume 1

Ah yes, spring is almost upon us, the birds are already chirping and there is a distinct scent in the air folks, I do believe that's love.  Oh wait, I think Katherine's litter box needs changing.  Hang on a minute while I change it out and light a candle.  Ahh, much better. So I've been digging around for some of my favorite "pop culture" moments from movies and music and remembered this monologue by Bette from one of my all-time favorite movies, "The Rose".  Shortly after this, she launches into her rendition of the Percy Sledge classic "When a Man Loves a Woman" and injects the song with soul and meaning like no other.  If you've never seen this movie, it's worth the $1.50 to rent from Blockbuster. So what does this have to do with my "Winter Edition"?  Other than the fact that Valentines Day is Saturday, absolutely nothing.  C'mon, you know there had to be a tie-in somewhere.  Besides, I wanted to be kind to the songs that appear on the next three mixes because, with the exception of some brand spanking new excellent tunes that I thought would never show up, the rest is just okay.  Consequently, I didn't really have much to rave about so I decided to try a diversionary tact instead LOL! Actually, I've just been really busy lately and on some sort of Pet Shop Boys/Erasure kick that I haven't been able to shake off.  Don't worry, special attention was given to each and every mix for quality assurance.  Now, I can't guarantee that in every song, then again when have I?  I don't know, maybe I've just been a little disappointed with the pickings lately, so it's hard for me to get too excited.  Then again, maybe I'm just way off the mark and everything is much better than what I've conned myself into believing.  You be the judge.  Here is the first of three mixes I'll be putting up between now and Saturday.  I'll be back tomorrow with part 2.  Until then, ENJOY! Dive right in, baby, the water's fine!" Is that what you say, girls?! Or do you say, "Pack your bags! I'm putting on my little waitress cap and my fancy high heel shoes. I'm gonna go find me a real man, a good man, a true man, a man to love me for sure." Update: Actually, that was my position as of yesterday when I wrote this, and I'm feeling much better about it today.  Especially the next two mixes which have been fused with some new goodies that came through at the last minute.  Only one change was made to this mix early in the morning, but I'm feeling more partial than previously.  Carry on.
