Last Splash 2021 | T-Dance Edition

Well, f∩ck me twice on Sunday! Party Favorz (i.e. me, myself, I) has been in a pissy mood all week trying to get this CDN and caching plugin configured to my liking and it's turned into an obsession of defeat. I don't know what that means but it seems to fit the situation.
Since Last Splash was already in the bag and I had planned on taking a much-needed break afterward — I decided to go ahead and drop this Labor Day weekend party set 7 days early.
You'll notice a lot of Block & Crown remixes in this set as I've only recently gotten access to an entire catalog of their work through one of my DJ services. Many of these songs never see the light of day on Beatport or Traxsource but are DJ exclusives (likely because of licensing issues). There's not a lot known about this duo other than they appear to be filling the gap left behind by Almighty and 7th Heaven who have been staples in the gay dance arena for several decades.
While their brand isn't strictly geared towards gay audiences as you'll notice their work ends up on our Dance Club, Disco House, and Peak Hour series — they're remarkably agile and easily adapt to whatever they're working on. In the last couple of years, they started remixing other artists' tracks and have recently embarked on creating original songs for the ZYX Music label (another blast from the past that's still pumping out great dance music).
Other notable duos that have more recently entered this arena are Nacho Chapado & Ivan Gomez whose Guareber Recordings produced earworms with big tribal circuit beats and have now expanded into power disco house tracks and mashups much like Block & Crown are doing with great success. It's not clear if their Disco Gurls and Ghostmasters monikers are indeed themselves or ghost DJs working under the Guareber Recordings label but they've hit on something as there's lots of room and plenty of source material to sample and mashup from the 70s, 80s, 90s and the early millennium.
Then of course there's the Party Favorz favorite Purple Disco Machine, whose remixes and remakes of historical dance classics and current pop and Indie songs bring everything into his own little disco universe has exploded on the dance scene making him one of the most sought-after DJs right now.
Throw all this together with brand new dance gems and cheesy remakes of 80s love songs and you got yourself the most EPIC T-Dance set I've put out to date.
As mentioned earlier, I plan on taking a couple of weeks off from the podcast to recharge my batteries and hopefully get this g*ddamned caching plugin properly configured as well as the app for Party Favorz, which was all working great until it wasn't. The last one isn't on me but on the underlying structure supporting it — mainly Microsoft.
When I return, I plan on finishing off the Ultimate 90's House Classics series before launching the much-delayed Ultimate Trance Classics series. Until the next time...ENJOY!

Summer Farewell 2021 | The Chill Edition

As we near the end of the 2021 summer season, Party Favorz is cooling things down with our latest Chill Out session, Summer Farewell.
This set features a wide variety of laidback styles including Deep House, Electronica, Lounge, NuJazz, Minimal, and Progressive House to help you slow down and prepare for Fall. Granted, the summer weather seems to be lasting longer and longer these days.
In Georgia, we used to get a taste of Fall in late August but for the last several years, the cooling weather doesn't show up until late September or October before jumping right into winter weather. Fall has always been my favorite time of the year but it just keeps getting shorter and shorter.
Take note that I finally used the massive summer sleeper hit "Love Tonight" by Shouse. If you wonder why there are so many different versions of this track out there using the same refrain, it's because of this song — included here — in its original darker Indie groove form with the full vocals. The song itself has taken on a life of its own and will end up being in the Top 10 of the year's best Dance Club songs (likely the Robin Schulz version).
We have two tracks from newcomer Rosko who just happens to be my nephew. Other than he used to DJ parties in college, I'm not sure where this came from because his gig is a graphic design and advertising. I'm excited for him and look forward to hearing more about his work in the future. I might suggest he ad the album to Beatport, Traxsource, JunoDownload, and Amazon Music as well and select tracks on Kings of Spin for greater exposure. With Labor Day weekend around the corner, Summer Farewell will NOT be the final word of the season. I've already got the next T-Dance — the Sunday afternoon pleasure of our gay boys — set in the can that will drop next week. Madonna Dance Music Tribute 2021: Celebrate!

As well all know, Monday the 16th is the queen's birthday, and to help launch the various festivities and celebrations that this woman elicits from her millions of fans all over the world — Party Favorz is dropping "Madonna Dance Music Tribute 2021: Celebrate!" featuring another round of fabulous bootlegs of her biggest hits and fan favorites from her 40 years as one of the world's biggest stars.
I realize I had promised the 'Ultimate Madonna Series' this year but decided to flesh out all these bootlegs that have either never appeared on previous releases in this celebratory series and with over two thousand tracks in my collection — there was a lot to choose from. One of these may be official but I can't say for certain with the way remixes are released these days. In addition to these bootlegs, several others were recently released and I wanted to ensure those get the attention they deserve as well.
Since 2022 will be Party Favorz 15 year anniversary, I promise to release comprehensive sets of the official remixes plus the best of the best in bootlegs. I'll just have to get a head start months in advance because these compilations take considerable time and I don't like to rush them.
In the interim, you can go to the official Madonna page on Party Favorz and download past efforts that take on the official remixes and various bootlegs that are not included here. There's more than enough here to fulfill even the hardest of the hardcore fan that you won't find all in one place anywhere else.
I'm near burnt out since running a marathon of releases since the end of May but still have two more offerings for you folks through Labor Day. After that, I'll be taking a much-needed break.
I also want to mention that I had a falling out with Cloudflare who was delivering edge service for Party Favorz to ensure the fastest possible speeds abroad. I've since dropped them and have found another company to pick up the slack but it hasn't been implemented yet. I may do it this weekend or next week so if you experience any wonky behavior from the site, please be patient and just keep checking back because these things usually get fixed within 24 hours or less.

Summer Melt 2021 | The Ultimate Summer Dance Party!

Party Favorz is back with the ultimate summer dance party to fuel the remaining days of the season and boy oh boy the Summer Melt 2021 is lit!
When I sat down to compile this set list, it was coming up short and frankly a bit homogenous. There haven't been any late summer bombs released and the majority of it was already covered in the two-volume Catch-Up 2021 series, which dropped at the end of June.
I had started building my set list for future Disco House and Peak Hour releases but after listening to the newer songs in there, I threw them all in with the Dance Club folder and just let the spirit move me. With over 200 tracks to choose from, I did this all on the fly and chose songs that just flowed making for one of the most diverse sets Party Favorz has released since maybe the annual Blow Your Own Horn series.
There's a bit of Future House, EDM, NuDisco, House, Progressive House, and Tech House all fused perfectly in one seamless 4+ hour set leaving you with surprises at every turn. I made sure to include the latest bootlegs, mashups, and updated throwbacks for some familiarity. In short, this is the defacto dance party to close out the summer.
As we all know, August is Madonna's birthday month. Though we skipped last year's entries, we're on track to release a four-volume set for you diehard fans this year. They won't all drop in time for her birthday but since the entire month belongs to Madame X, they'll be released accordingly.
The plan is to hue closely to the original remixes (with a few bootlegs thrown in for good measure) that reflect her long career atop the dance music charts. We'll start with the 80s and then move forward through the various iterations of her ever-evolving styles up to the current day. These will be the most comprehensive sets released by far featuring our favorite diva.

Thank God It’s Funky Friday | Beach House 2021

Party Favorz decided to jumpstart your weekend with the annual Beach House Edition 2021 style!
Because of an uptick in music selections, Beach House 2021 is one of the more diverse Disco House sets we've done in a while. Beach House 2021 has everything including NuDisco, Classic House, Jackin House, Soulful, and even some Gospel and Reggae thrown in for good measure — with everything sitting on the funky tip. This is one ball of sunshine that should make kicking back around the pool even more carefree.
There are some classic Disco samples sprinkled throughout as well as some updated originals. In most cases, the DJs don't use the original titles (for unknown reasons but I can surmise) a few of which will be reprised a bit later with the original titles for the fourth installment of Thank God It's Disco.

Lose CTRL | Summer Peak Hour Party

After a long gay slog through June where our Gay Pride dance podcasts are currently residing in the top two spots (again) of the Top 10 — Party Favorz is ready to get your summer party started with a brand new Peak Hour set that's going to burn a hole through your earbuds.
We've picked an additional DJ service to add to our arsenal, which gives us a broader selection of the latest floor scorchers. The result is Lose CTRL, which has been on repeat for the past week because it's that good!
Diplo performed his magic on the massive "Marea (We've Lost Dancing" by The Blessed Madonna taking the track to new levels.
Bright Lights takes Britney's "Trouble For Me" and turns it into a progressive burner that's worth the price of entry. Since the original is from 2012, we're hoping Britney will unshackle herself from her father and his merry bandit of grifters and leechers who've been bleeding her dry. There are some hot Hot HOT crossover tracks out at the moment: Goodboys' "Bongo Cha Cha Cha" adds some Latin summer flavor while Marshmello and Nitti Gritti team up with Megan Thee Stallion who delivers the epic battle of sexes takedown with "Bad Bitches."

Other winners included are "Free" by Vintage Culture, Fancy Inc & Roland Clark, "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" with Deeper Purpose doing the remix honors for Piero Pirupa's chart-topping ode to the Rozalla classic, and "Emergency" by Tommy Trash & Yolanda Be Cool, which has the 80s kinda feel that beckons us to the dance floor.
With the recent success of "Slim Is Alive" by Richard Grey and Lissat, Eminem and Dr. Dre have had a bit of a resurgence lately but on the dance floor. This set includes "Forget About Dre" and Em's "Without Me," which begs the question why his music hadn't been remixed sooner. All of these songs give a whole new vibe and feel fresh for those who didn't grow up in the early millennium when Emenim struck gold.
We also have a valiant stab at the 2Pac (featuring Dr. Dre) classic "California Love," which makes heavy use of the original while tacking on a deep progressive groove on both ends of the song.
80s mega rock stars Dire Straits (a personal favorite) have also enjoyed a comeback in the unlikely venue of House Music. In the spring Block & Crown and Lissat released "Swingin' Sultan," which is a housed-up version of "Sultans Of Swing." It was in every DJs top 10 for months but we never included it in any of our sets because as good as it is, it just seemed to drag the set. Maybe that was a misstep on our part but that leads to "Money For Nothing."
Dave Delly Umberto Balzanelli created an outstanding remix of the 1985 track, which was included in our Catch-Up 2021 pt. 1 as an easter egg. Now, Ben Phillips has dropped a mashup with the song and MK's "17," which is equally as good. Sometimes I'm floored at people's creativity and the shit they manage to pull together.

Catch-Up 2021 Volume 2 | The Year’s BIGGEST Dance Club hits so far!

As promised, Party Favorz is delivering a second slice of the year's biggest dance club songs with a smattering of new releases, bootlegs, and newer club hits that are going to be fueling your summer dance parties. Let's get started.
Anyone with a sense of musical history knows that disco has been all the rage lately but another sound people are missing out on is the resurgence of 80s Dance. Ahh yes, the soundtrack to my life has made its way into your life because...why not.
Calvin Harris has been sidestepping his normal house music pop in search of a new sound. By Your Side (with Tom Grennan) reaches back into the annals of 80s pop with "By Your Side." While I have mixed feelings about this song it is making a lot of top-ten playlists on Spotify so it could be a grower.
A more catchy 80's throwback with a lot of help from the 90's Punk/Pop supergroup Smash Mouth is from Timmy Trumpet. "Camelot" is another track making inroads and while the use of Smash Mouth might be questionable to some, the song does offer a catchy summer pop hook.
Of course, Miley Cyrus has been all about the 80s this year and "Midnight Sky" is one of the year's best along with her duet on "Prisoner" with Dua Lipa (the queen of disco revitalization).
The German record producer and DJ Boys Noize (Alexander Ridha) has been around for a while and has produced some big names in music. His latest release with the help of Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), is a definite 80's throwback complete with low-grade synths from the early part of the decade when New Wave was a thing. However, it's the Purple Disco Machine remix that takes "All I Want" to a whole new level. PDM delivers a sleazy disco groove with his Donna Summer (Love To Love You Baby) meets Barry White delivery making the song a sex-fueled dance floor pleaser that deserves a wider audience.

Another surprise is from the fantastic Dirty Disco who seem to have taken on a new direction in their remixes. From circuit to t-dance and now pop productions — the boys from Houston have taken the Olivio Rodrigo send-off to an ex "Deja Vu," which thematically resembles Alanis Morrissette's "You Oughta Know" in its sentiment. They take the song and flip it with a happy pop dancefloor production taking the song to a whole new level. If I were on Rodrigo's team, I'd remix the original in this style and re-release it for another guaranteed #1 because it just works.
Finally, you're going to hear two new tracks with very familiar samples that you won't be able to put your finger on. First up is Jax Jones' "Feels" which sample the verse of the early 90s #1 pop/R&B hit "Can't Stop" by After 7. Jones adds a deep underlying bass house rhythm and slightly alters the vocals delivering a fun house stomper that's bound to pack floors.
The other track is "Light Up My Life" by Jack Wins and Joe Stone. This also samples another famous track but it was driving me nuts until I finally figured it was Madonna's "Who's That Girl." The sample is very small but employed over and over creating a whole new song from what was likely a throwaway track from her "True Blue" session and later released as the lead single for the soundtrack to the epically bad movie of the same title. Even though the original went to #1, the album ended up in the cutout bends pretty quickly. Bravo to Wins and Stone for dusting it off and making something entirely original out of it.
These two sets should pretty much complete your summer dance club parties but I'll likely drop another sometime in August to finish the season off with late entries. Catch-Up 2021 Volume 1 | The BIGGEST Dance Club Songs of the year so far!

Just in time for your 4th of July holiday parties, Party Favorz is dropping not only one of the most anticipated sets of the year but the only party soundtrack you'll need for the rest of summer.
That's not to say that some mid or late-July releases won't explode that haven't been introduced to the world yet because they always do and most certainly will. However, Catch-Up 2021 gives you the biggest dance club songs of the year that are still riding high on most people's Spotify playlists as well as newcomers that Party Favorz has handpicked to click with house music fans.
As usual, we throw in some bootlegs and mashups to keep the party interesting and you won't find anywhere else but everything required for your summer recovery is included in these two sets.
Did I say two sets? The musical landscape was so plentiful and diverse that it grew to an unmanageable size requiring us to split this year's entry into two volumes, which are 3+ hours of summer fun spread across both sets. Pride Edition 2021 | Celebrating 14 Years of GAY PRIDE!

It's been one hell of a year but we're finally beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel due to this long national nightmare. Party Favorz has been here through it all delivering the finest in club music to help you maintain a sense of normalcy. With most major artists holding back remixes and out-of-work DJs transitioning to fee for remixes — it's been tricky if not expensive delivering the goods month after month but somehow, we managed.
Pride Edition 2021 is the most expensive set ever put together clocking in at over $150. We do it to support the DJs and the work they usually give away for free to support their live shows. Out of all these DJs there is one who deserves our biggest gratitude. That DJ is Brazil's Dario Xavier who has been a virtual remix factory of all the latest hits and gay anthems. Like India, Brazil has been one of the hardest hit countries by COVID-19 and the work he puts into his remixes that make up a healthy portion of this set is phenomenal. Climbing on my soapbox
I want to call attention to what's going on in the United States at the state level. Many states like my home state of GA have passed Jim Crow-style style laws that are designed to suppress the vote. Not just the votes of Black and Brown people but young people (think college-age) and persons with disabilities. These groups typically vote democratic and these laws have been written in such a manner that they surgically carve out policies to make it more difficult for these groups to vote.
While many people are up in arms about not being able to hand out food and water for voters waiting in long lines to exercise their Constitutional right (typically in areas that are heavily populated by — you guessed it — Black and Brown voters because Republicans in those states have shut down the majority of polling stations, there is so much more to these new laws that are going unnoticed.
Issues like this are a red herring designed to distract from the true anti-democratic parts of these bills. Indeed, the one thing they all have in common is that they give the state legislatures or some appointed body by the legislature to remove the head of elections and the entire election board in heavily democratic counties and appoint their people giving them the right to overturn the will of the people in those counties for virtually any semblance of fraud, which has been proven in the last election to not only be rare but by the hands of Republicans. You literally can't make this shit up.
By doing this, and the heavy Gerrymandering that's about to take place throughout these states after the last census, Republicans are all but assuring themselves total control of government at the state and federal levels. In other words, minority rule. Instead of developing policies that appeal to a broad base of Americans, the only way for them to win is by rigging the system in their favor to maintain complete control of all levers of government.
So what does this have to do with Gay Pride? Currently, these same states are targeting our brothers and sisters in the transgender community with laws that ban them from sports and/or public bathrooms of their choice. They've already enacted stringent "heartbeat" bills in hopes that the rigged SCOTUS will overturn Roe v. Wade, which could very well happen. Rest assured, they won't stop there and will be going after marriage equality, workplace discrimination, and a whole host of other areas that directly affect our lives. Don't think it can't happen? It already is.
There's a lot at stake for the future of the gay community and all I'm asking is that you stay vigilant to the laws that are being enacted in your state because they do directly affect you and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole. I beg you to call your Senators and demand they vote for the H.
