Meltdown 2020 | The HOTTEST Dance Club Songs of the Summer!
Saturday Jul 25, 2020
Saturday Jul 25, 2020
Party Favorz is back with Meltdown 2020 containing the hottest dance club songs of the summer. If you've been searching for the one true party mix to light your fire — then you've arrived at your destination.
The resurrection of a goddess — Tina Turner
After having massive success with the resurrection of the buried gem "Higher Love" by Whitney Houston — Kygo is back again and sweetened the pot. He's reinvigorated the Tina Turner mid-80s monster classic "What's Love Got To Do With It" and turned it into a reggaeton summer monster. It's not clear if Tina (at 80 years old) was involved in this project but it seems likely. There are some runs in this version that were not part of the original release unless they were part of the original acapella in the masters vault. It doesn't really matter because he dusts this track off and gives it a modern-day spin that would put it in contention for song of the summer.

The newest and hottest dance club songs
Surf Mesa and Emilee have heated up the Electronic Dance Charts with Ily (I Love You Baby), which is a rework of the original Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons hit, which was turned into a #1 disco hit by Boys Town Gang, a #1 Dance Club song by Pet Shop Boys and a soothing hip hop twist by Lauryn Hill among many others. Here, Topic turns their laid-back version into a dance-floor-ready house number.
Other personal treats here for your summer listening pleasure are Sammy Porter's "Evissa, You & Me," HOSH, 1979 and Jalja's "Midnight (The Hanging Tree)," Vize and Tom Gregory's "Never Let Me Down," Purple Disco with Sophie and the Giants "Hypnotized," Alesso and Liam Payne's "Midnight," and the return of Toni Braxton with the help of Dave Audé on her funky "Dance."
[youtube v="VbQqV8_Ykow"]
As predicted, Gorgon City and Soffi Tukker's "House Arrest" is topping just about every DJ list out there, while Gorgon City isn't letting up and just dropped "Nobody" with the indie group Drama. This is going to be another massive song but more so for the dub version included here, which takes the original and gives it that deep house mystique GC is known for. Wait until you hear the Sam Girling Tech House mix, which is slated for the next Peak Hour set and takes the song to a whole new level.
[youtube v="tK_HwUAVZrY"]
Perhaps the one that's really got me sucked in is Kenzie and Sia's "Exhale." The Hook n Sling remix on this is pure perfection and will certainly raise the temperature on any dance floor already boiling over. As of this writing — there's only a radio version but no extended nor remixes of this fantastic song but it's HOT and gonna be BIG!
[youtube v="2xFE-aAlqXI"]
Bootlegs and mashups that keep it interesting
As part of our continuing expansion to diversify and keep these sets firmly grounded in the party realm — There are a number of bootlegs, mashups and classic reworks contained in Meltdown.
Weiss and Harry Romero take on Alan Parson's Project with "Where Do We Go" using the catchy refrain from their "Games People Play," Block & Crown take on Madonna with a sizzling house floor rework of "Like a Prayer" with their "Pray For More" update, Robin Schulz updates the massive Bob Marley classic "Sun Is Shining" for a summertime blockbuster, Kideko and Armand Van Helen take Gwen Guthrie's disco classic "Keep the Fire Burning," speed up the vocals to give us a modern-era twist with "The Fire," and perhaps the most puzzling of all...Nora En Pure and Lika More update the Phil Collins monster classic "In The Air Tonight."
The attempt here was something Zhu would've have done with the song but at a slower tempo to retain the darker elements of the original. I understand the reasoning for bumping up the BPM by Croatia Squad and it took me awhile to fully appreciate it but the song itself is so pertinent to what's going on on the streets of America that this version is a welcome addition to this set.

Demi Lovato | The Diva Series
Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
Demetria Devonne Lovato (born August 20, 1992) — better known as Demi Lovato — is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality. Like many other Diva Hall of Fame recipients, she is a product of the Disney juggernaut and rose to fame starring in Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam where she teamed up with Joe Jonas for a duet on the Billboard top ten hit "This Is Me."
Like many Disney child stars, she got a record deal and released albums with songs that skewed toward a younger audience. As her audience matured — so did her music. Demi Lovato managed to achieve several top-ten pop hits all going gold or platinum.
2015 growth and maturity as an artist and singer
By 2015, Lovato had finally arrived with her biggest album to date "Confident." The bi-curious lead single "Cool For the Summer," which was frequently criticized for mimicking if not sounding much like Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" (both produced by the powerhouse Max Martin), went on to become the song of the summer that year and was in most year-end top ten lists. The song is also was also embraced by the LGBTQ+ community and is considered a modern-era gay anthem.
2 years later, "Tell Me You Love Me" was released and the lead single "Sorry Not Sorry" was her biggest hit to date selling over a million copies and reaching #6 on the Billboard Top 100.
While putting together this tribute set to Demi Lovato — one of the most gifted singers in pop music at the moment — you will hear elements of Kelly Clarkson (one of her idols) Katy Perry and others. This isn't intended to detract from her output but does showcase where musical styles were at as she rose to fame.
Her most recent non-album singles "Sober," "Anyone," and "I Love Me" are her most personal to date and frankly would be massive hits if they were released just ten years ago. The first two are re-framed in Dubstep, while the third was given a Future House rework. These stellar songs are so relatable on a multitude of levels that they reflect what many people have experienced at one point or another in their life struggles.

Continued evolution with a promising future
Clearly, the woman has continued to evolve and has partnered with other artists (Clean Bandit, Jax Jones, Cheat Codes, Fall Out Boy, Sam Smith, and even Brad Paisley) stretching her credentials that only further solidify her achievements as a true artist.
Of course, the focus of all the entries into the Diva Hall of Fame is their contributions to the dance floor. Demi Lovato has embraced much of the EDM and House Music scene so she would be a natural fit for our newest induction. Party Favorz looks forward to what Demi Lovato's artistry will bring in the future as her music continues to evolve while remaining relevant to the here and now.
It is with great pleasure and high accolades that Party Favorz inducts Demi Lovato into the Diva Hall of Fame. ENJOY!

Miley Cyrus | The Diva Series
Sunday Jul 19, 2020
Sunday Jul 19, 2020
Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus; November 23, 1992) is an American singer-songwriter, actress, and television judge. Her music spans a range of styles, from pop and country pop to hip-hop. Cyrus' personal life, public image, and performances have often sparked controversy and received widespread media coverage.
Most folks know through her highly successful turn on Disney's "Hannah Montana" series and subsequent movies. Not unlike previous Disney prodigies (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Demi Lovato) — Miley grew up in front of the public view and slowly began to move away from the good-girl image that was created for her and it showed in controversial live performances and her music.
Controversy and pearl-clutching moms
Truth be told, her audience was growing up with her, and the subsequent lashing out by "moms" was more about them than their children who related to her antics. Often these antics came across as awkward and frankly — not as overly sexualized as the pearl-clutching mothers would have you believe. That mantle still belongs to Christina Aguilera who by her second album shed all pretenses when she dropped the video for her first single off her second album entitled "Dirrty."
While Cyrus came out swinging with several hit singles from her first two albums — after reprising her role as Hannah Montana for the movie, later that year she dropped "The Time of Our Lives" featuring the smash hit "Party In the U.S.A." By the time "Can't Be Tamed" she was breaking free from her ties to the wholesome character she portrayed for so long.
Grown-ass woman makes good on her promise as an artist
After taking several years off — she returned in 2013 with the massively successful "Bangerz" featuring some of her best work to date including the hit singles the Trap influenced "We Can't Stop" and beautiful "Wrecking Ball." Miley had finally arrived on her terms.
With a diverse catalog of musical styles and her embrace of dance music and being a powerful ally to the LGBTQ+ community — Miley was an obvious choice for inclusion into our Diva Series.
Frankly, I wasn't certain how this set would work but it just fell together with ease and is something I've had on repeat for over a week. It is my greatest pleasure and fawning admiration that Party Favorz officially inducts Miley Cyrus into the Diva Hall of Fame. ENJOY!

Ellie Goulding | The Diva Series
Saturday Jul 18, 2020
Saturday Jul 18, 2020
Elena Jane Goulding better known as Ellie Goulding (born 30 December 1986) is an English singer and songwriter. In 2009, she met a couple of record producers picked up a manager, and was signed to Polydor records. She released an "extended play" that same year (I'm guessing an EP) and the full-length debut album "Lights" the following year and the rest is history.
Goulding had a fairly normal upbringing and frankly, there is nothing remarkable about her early beginnings other than she started writing her songs in high school at age 15 and likely led a normal life. She does suffer from anxiety and panic attacks but let's face it — who doesn't these days?
With so little written about her to the point that most of her story feels like filler — she has had remarkable success as an artist and quickly made that leap from Indie darling to commercial success on a massive scale in virtually a nanosecond.
Nothing but praise
Don't think I'm dissing Ellie because I adore this woman and her music. It's just that it's rare these days to just kinda fall into a career everyone would dream of without any type of struggle or at least going on some reality singing competition, which seems to be the norm these days. That is unless it's "The Voice" because nobody ever becomes famous off that long-running show.
Goulding first came to America's attention with the single "Lights" which reached #2 on the Billboard Top 100. What's odd is that so many of her hits like "Burn," "Love Me Like You Do," "On My Mind," "First Time," and "Close To Me" is so memorable on the dancefloor — it's a wonder they weren't even bigger hits at radio because these songs are permanently etched into my musical memory.
New album and the road ahead
Other favorites like "Army" is just so perfect that it appears she's already being pushed into the "old singers" category like so many other millennials. "Slow Grenade" (with Lauv) is her latest single from the forthcoming album "Brightest Blue" and a current personal favorite.
[youtube v="Lt7EtplY2Zs"]
I could see her just doing her own thing by keeping everything on the Indie level and forget chasing after the "youth" market. Many artists of her caliber are still releasing great music but everything is ranked by Spotify, YouTube, and single sales — the latter of which are rapidly going out of favor. That leaves the first two to easily manipulate the charts with armies of young fans no matter what Billboard says. She's a talented woman and I'll let her sort it out.
For now — Party Favorz is honoring Ms. Goulding with her induction into the Diva Hall of Fame for her massive contributions to the dance floor. She embraced EDM and House Music early in her career, which likely gave a massive boost to the success of her releases. If you haven't dug into her catalog — this is a good place to start and then follow her on Spotify. ENJOY!

Come Together | Peak Hour Tech House for Party People
Saturday Jul 11, 2020
Saturday Jul 11, 2020
Party Favorz is back with our latest Peak Hour mix that's bound to have many of you salivating. This set continually evolved until the right mix of tracks were released to meet the high standards this podcast strives for.
For the most part, Come Together leans heavily into Tech House with a generous side portion of dark House Music. We threw in a couple of dreamy Breaks tracks (Franky Wah's "Come Together" and Sub Focus & Wilkinson's "Just Hold On") to open and close the set and added only one techno and progressive house song.
A LOT OF CLASSIC SONGS BEING SAMPLED
There are a litany of classic Disco, 90's House and even pop songs that are sampled in this set. So many, that it would take forever to point them all out to you. Some, you'll pick up straight away, while others will sound familiar but you can't quite put your finger on them. No matter — it's all good.
THE REMAKE OF A CLASSIC TRACK
Perhaps the biggest song of at the moment is the PAX remake of the Rui Da Silva (featuring Cassandra) early millennium classic "Touch Me." It took awhile for me to really appreciate it as the vocals kept throwing me off. Cassandra had this distinctive rasp in her voice that really gave the original its deep, dark, and sexy appeal. In fact, the original was so well done that it would fit nicely in any set today and no one would none the wiser that its 20 years old.
However, the version on YouTube that has over 31 million views is considerably faster than the original, which ruins the whole song. So, I'll show the PAX version since it's still stellar and what's included here:
[youtube v="HgDFmwLXeV4"]
In short, I kept this set tight and mashed-up a lot of the transitions to keep the flow moving. That's not really your concern but just know that this is one set that should keep the party moving until the next release.
DIVA HALL OF FAME COMING SOON
Speaking of which, I think it's time for some new Diva Hall of Fame inductees. There are a ton of new leading ladies that are making a name for themselves and some that should have been inducted awhile ago. Not sure how many I'll get to and in what order but I've got some special ones y'all are gonna really like. Until the next time...ENJOY!

Be Free | Summer Chill 2020
Friday Jul 03, 2020
Friday Jul 03, 2020
Party Favorz had re-added the Chill Out category a couple of months ago and has finally gotten around to putting out our first in hopefully what will be a long succession of Lounge/Chill/Indie sets that fit one of your many moods.
Be Free is a culmination of some of the finest in Lounge music at the moment with a tad bit of low-key House (see the fantastic "Thing Can Only Get Better" by Peyton) and others.
[youtube v="Dxnwwa51Y5Y"]
This set has Jazz, experimental, melodic, Indie and just a good solid mixture of mood music when you just want to sit back, unwind with your favorite beverage or smoke a fat one. I'll let you decide. It is a fantastic escape from the realities of all the bullshit we as a nation are currently going through.
THINGS ARE DIRE — PLEASE WEAR A MASK WHEN OUT IN PUBLIC
I was recently criticized by one of our longtime followers from France about my recent comments for everyone to wear a mask. I think my unique American perspective got lost on him because if you lived here — you would see all these idiots throwing a hissy fit at Costco and other places for being denied entry or service for not wearing a mask as if it's some right ingrained in our Constitution (it's not). These are private businesses who set the terms for service any way they want. After all — no one bitches about "no shoes, no shirt, no service."
No doubt these same idiots claimed that forcing people to wear their seat belts violated some imaginary Constitutional right they dreamed up and that it's some conspiracy cooked up by their favorite boogieman the "Deep State" (whatever that is) but I digress. I'll just say this is not unique to America but we do seem to have an overly-abundant amount of these nut jobs compared to other countries.
Back to the music: This set came out way better than I could have hoped for and it's my hope you folks will enjoy it as much as I did putting it together. I have no clue what I'm cooking up next but whatever it is — rest assured it will be fabulous! Until then...ENJOY!
I almost forgot...HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

Beach House 2020 | Get Down To the Funky Sounds of Disco House!
Sunday Jun 28, 2020
Sunday Jun 28, 2020
Just in time for the 4th of July, Party Favorz is laying down a surprise drop. The annual Beach House edition (sometimes called Pool Party) is a culmination of some of the finest funky disco house floating around the interwebs at the moment.
This set stays true to the format but hits a little harder than previous efforts. There seems to be a glut of Soulful House out at the moment, which is fine but honestly, nobody wants to drown in sad, melancholy, praise Jesus house music at the moment. It's just not what the doctor prescribed during this tumultuous time in our lives.
The one thing that stands out in this particular set is the magical genius of the Netherlands' Block & Crown. The duo has been churning out commercial and underground floor scorchers since 2010 while mashing, sampling, editing, and blending a vast catalog of classics into their own modern-era party tracks. Their output is like an assembly line of new party classics that will pump up any dancefloor or pool party. While they've created some remixes for other artists, they really shine when they're working with material that already has a proven track record from the past — no matter how obscure.
Look no further than yet another sample of Loleatta Holloway's "Love Sensation" — the most sampled song of all time. The song is mashed-up with the David Morales classic "Needin' U" creating the kind of summertime fun we've all come to expect from this dynamic duo, while simultaneously lifting the originals to new heights.
[youtube v="_UB10VPirms"]
I finished this eipisode last week and have had it on heavy rotation at home and in my car and I have to say there is something about this particular set that really grabs me and frankly just works. So, If you've got the isolation blues, here is your cure. ENJOY!

Catch-Up 2020 | The BIGGEST Dance Club Songs Of the Year…So Far!
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
Party Favorz is back with a mid-week dump that's bound to fuel your parties through summer. The annual Catch-Up series features the biggest Dance Club songs from December through June. Either the tracks topped most DJ charts or are personal picks that racked up millions of views on YouTube. Even with Billboard Dance Club charts on current hiatus — the method they use to rank their songs is seriously flawed because it all depends on what type of venue the DJs report from that determines their popularity. That's where our expertise in picking the hits comes in.
Dua Lipa leads the pack for best dance club songs of the year
I say this only because there were several really dark and not exactly overwhelming songs that topped that chart earlier this year. Most are included save one. Party Favorz pulled from Beatport charts, YouTube tallies, and personal picks, which puts Dua Lipa ahead of the pack. Her "Don't Start Now" reached #2 on the Top 100 and #1 on the Dance Club charts and has been hovering in the Top 100 for over 33 weeks making it not only a contender for one of the biggest songs of the year but for the summer.
Due to the pandemic and her inability to tour and promote her new and highly underrated album "Future Nostalgia," the label has been furiously releasing track after track and commissioning remixes for them to see what sticks. "Physical" and "Break My Heart" (currently climbing the charts) are pure pop pleasures and the remixes that have accompanied them are stellar.
Purple Disco Machine leads the pack for best DJ of the year
Another DJ that shows up a lot here is Purple Disco Machine. There's no doubt that his brand of throwback Disco House is striking a nerve among dance enthusiasts making him one of the most in-demand DJs in the business. Party Favorz would like to think we had a hand in his success when we released "Catching Up with Purple Disco Machine" back in 2018 realizing that this guy was the one to watch. As usual - we were right.
Songs of the summer
All the contenders for "song of the summer" are contained here including Doja Cat's irresistible "Say So" (which we picked back in March to hit big), DaBaby and Roddy Rich's "Rockstar," Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage," The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights," Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande's "Rain On Me," Drake's "Tootise Slide," Justin Bieber and Quavo's "Intentions," Roddy Ricch's "The Box," Post Malone's "Circles," Harry Styles "Adore You," SAINT JHN's "Roses," and many more.
All your favorite club bangers from the past 6 months are here and we dropped the personal favorite "Good Time Girl" by Sofi Tukker mainly because it was released last year and was given new life as the opening theme song for "The New Pope" in favor of the brand-spanking new track "House Arrest" with Gorgon City. This song has shot to the top of every DJ playlist and rightfully so. It's a Deep House thumper with a catchy rhythm backed by Sophie Hawley-Weld's hypnotic vocals. This song is truly a delight in the current minefield of mediocre releases.

If it seems I've been pushing the latest from Alex Newell "Boy, You Can Keep It" — it's because the Tracy Young remix is simply a delightful summer cocktail of fun coupled with the perfect vocal styling of Mr. Newell. This song would undoubtedly be sitting at the top of Billboard's Dance Club charts if this covid shit hadn't messed everything up.
Just know that there's plenty of Disco House in this set to offset the darker moments from earlier in the year. If you're into commercial dance music this is the set you're gonna wanna grab because it's got it all.
I've got the annual Beach House set for release late next week just in time for 4th of July. While it hasn't been started yet — expect something a little different this time around. Until then...ENJOY!

Celebration of Gay Pride With BIG Circuit Anthems!
Saturday Jun 20, 2020
Saturday Jun 20, 2020
As the air fills with love, acceptance, and the compelling beats of circuit anthems, we can't help but surrender to the sheer force of PRIDE EDITION 2020 Volume 2. This collection is a salute to both Gay Pride and the unyielding spirit of the LGBTQ community. These tracks are an electrifying assembly of potent remixes and tribal rhythms that create an atmosphere of unrestrained celebration.
Standout Remixes
Kynt's "We Can Work This Out (Cesar Vilo The Big Drama 2020 Remix)" serves as a sensational opening act. It captures the essence of overcoming adversity with its exuberant beats and transcendent vocals. Then there's Dirty Disco vs. Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight," which comes re-imagined as a high-octane mainroom remix. It strikes a perfect balance between vintage soulfulness and modern-day energy.
Another highlight has to be Dua Lipa's "Love Again" in the form of the Dirty Disco Eagle Houston Remix. This track manages to marry hopefulness with rhythmic agility, elevating the original to anthemic proportions. Not to forget Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande's "Rain On Me" — the Toy Armada & DJ GRIND Pride Anthem remix is sheer sonic gold, echoing the resilience and vitality so intrinsic to Pride celebrations.
The Emotional Heavy Hitters
Toni Braxton's "Un-break My Heart" makes a reappearance in a revitalized form thanks to the Dario Xavier Remix. This track is as intense as it is liberating. While on the subject of emotional richness, Sia's "Elastic Heart," reimagined by Toy Armada & DJ GRIND, captures a similar texture. It's an affecting sonic journey that ends in triumph, just like the narrative of many LGBTQ lives.
The fresh take on Selena Gomez's "Lose You To Love Me" by Mor Avrahami truly is a revelation. It is neither maudlin nor overly joyful; it simply hits the right notes of self-discovery and acceptance. The sheer musicality of these tracks solidifies this playlist as a Celebration of both Pride and the art of remixing.
The Timeless Anthems
Finally, who can resist Judy Garland's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" in a heart-tugging Joel Dickinson Mix? This classic takes us back to the roots of the Pride movement, reminding us that sometimes, looking back can provide the motivation to move forward. The journey is made even more celebratory with the inclusion of iconic artists like Whitney Houston and the Jonas Brothers, each contributing their distinct flavors to this rich, musical tapestry.
To sum it up, PRIDE EDITION 2020 Volume 2 serves as a vibrant tapestry of emotions, beats, and Celebration—everything you'd want to experience during a Pride fest. Until the next time...ENJOY!

In the face of unprecedented upheaval, the LGBTQ+ community needs to embrace unity now more than ever. As we navigate a transformative period in history, this year's Gay Pride Celebration takes on a nuanced, urgent tone. The battle for equal rights is far from over, even as society makes strides forward. Our struggle is deeply interconnected with the fight for racial justice, epitomized by the strong solidarity we should all be showing toward our Black brothers and sisters, irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Contrary to popular belief, recent legal victories are not the finish line; they're more like mile markers. Take the Supreme Court ruling against workplace discrimination aimed at the LGBTQ+ community, for example. While momentous, this ruling isn't a carte blanche guarantee of societal acceptance. It's worrisome that even in the phrasing of this progressive decision, there's room left for religious liberty to potentially supersede these protections. This opens up avenues for discrimination in vital areas of life—be it healthcare or housing—under the guise of religious freedom. This essentially means that our Gay Pride Celebration can't just be about revelry; it also has to be about vigilance.
Let's also not overlook the ongoing erosion of democracy and safety standards by current political leadership. The undermining of essential regulations, coupled with the denial of scientific facts—especially as it pertains to the COVID-19 pandemic—is an affront to the very ethos of what the Gay Pride Celebration stands for: freedom, equality, and human dignity. While public health concerns may limit traditional pride parades or events, the ethos of Gay Pride Celebration is uncontainable. Digital platforms like Zoom and Twitch are hosting celebrations, proving that the spirit of pride is innovative and indomitable.
Here at Party Favorz, we've been amplifying the sounds of pride for over a decade. Even as we adapt to this year's unique circumstances, we remain committed to filling your homes with uplifting circuit anthems and pulsating beats. With the promise of releasing a compilation of the year's biggest dance club hits next week, we're ensuring that your at-home pride celebrations remain as spirited and jubilant as ever.
In summary, this isn't the time to rest on our laurels or grow complacent. We should use the Gay Pride Celebration as a reflective lens, focusing on both the milestones we've crossed and the many roads yet to be traveled. So go ahead, celebrate your identity and freedoms, but remember that the real party happens when equality is no longer selective but universal.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Gay Anthems For A New Generation 2020 | Modern-day Gay Pride Anthems
Thursday Jun 11, 2020
Thursday Jun 11, 2020
Every year during Gay Pride, the question "what constitutes a gay anthem" has been asked and answered in countless posts about the subject — even on this site. Party Favorz wants to break it down so "others" can have a better understanding as to why certain songs attract gay folk like flies to honey.
By quoting the 2002 book "Queer," Wikipedia gets it mostly right but goes off the rails in other areas:
The lyrics of gay anthems are often marked by themes of perseverance, inner strength, acceptance, pride, and unity. Ten elements were identified by the editors of the 2002 book Queer, which they claim describe themes common to many gay anthems: "big-voiced divas; themes of overcoming hardship in love; "you are not alone;" themes of throwing your cares away (to party); hard-won self-esteem; unashamed sexuality; the search for acceptance; torch songs for the world-weary; the theme of love conquers all; and of making no apologies for who you are." -Gay anthem from Wikipedia
They go on to list a variety of songs that they think are written down in the gay annals of history with many of them being so off the mark that it leaves us scratching our heads in bewilderment. Party Favorz even gets a mention (without mentioning us) when they list "Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", and Ariana Grande's "Break Free" (both of which are included here) considered gay anthems for the new generation. Sound familiar? That's only a tacit acknowledgment of Party Favorz's contribution to the LGBTQ+ community but we'll take it.
THEMES OF A GAY ANTHEM
The book "Queer" provides the definitive list of the types of songs that meet the criteria for a gay anthem:
First and foremost "Big-voiced divas" are a given. The women with massive vocal pipes are typically the first ones inducted into our big gay tent (see Whitney Houston, Ariana Grande, Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Sia, and P!nk). Even then, they may just be a persona, an image, or a style that reflects our personal choices but may not necessarily have the best vocals (see Madonna, Britney Spears, and Kylie Minogue) Other times they may be a combination of both (see Cher and Lady Gaga).
Overcoming hardship and love
You are not alone
Throw your cares away
Hard-won self-esteem
Celebrating unashamed sexuality
Search for acceptance
Torch song for the world weary
Love conquers all
No apologies
As you can see — the qualifications are endless but never without reason.
All these themes are explored one way or another in this 5-hour set, which features modern-day gay anthems as well as past anthems reworked for today's dance floors. While by no means complete — I dare you to find anything remotely comprehensive than what's contained here.
THE MAKING OF A GREAT GAY ANTHEM
There is one underlying theme that should immediately appear apparent when you browse the tracklist. That is the inclusion of an overly abundant remixes DJ Barry Harris. Aside from his record-breaking work with Chris Cox as part of the Thunderpuss duo from the late 90s to the early Millennium — Barry has expanded his reach to gay and straight dance floors across the globe with his keen sense of taking songs and literally transforming them into monster anthems like no one else currently in the business. Just look at what he did with "Rise Up" by Andra Day, which is not only pertinent to the Black Lives Matter protests currently overwhelming the globe but to the everyday struggles of the LGBTQ+ community. The man is a living icon and his contributions to the dance floor and our lives deserving of recognition.
FINALLY
Given the uncertainty of the future of Party Favorz — we've gone back and reworked or expanded our most popular editions that will hopefully leave a lasting impression with listeners for decades to come. We hope that you enjoy this ultimate guide to gay anthems for the modern era and continue to support our efforts until we can longer carry the torch.

Living In A Disco: Let It Play On X On
Saturday May 23, 2020
Saturday May 23, 2020
After experiencing some technical difficulties, Party Favorz is back with some funky disco house for your Memorial Day weekend fun. Living In A Disco is a culmination of a wide swath of genres from House, Jackin' House, NuDisco, Soulful House to Funk and straight up Disco.
There's more than enough here to keep the party going while flipping burgers, kicking back some brew while trying to make your own party with close friends and family while social distancing.
As everyone knows, Party Favorz is a HUGE fan of Disco and has been predicting its resurgence since the beginning of this podcast in 2007. While Disco never went away (as per this very own section of entries from day one) — it's finally gone mainstream.
Dua Lipa had a worldwide smash with "Don't Start Now," which was quickly followed by Doja Cat's #1 "Say So," and now Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande just dropped the funky "Rain On Me." It's like I'm living the dream even though I'm quarantined.

With that being said, my go to track at the moment is by the fabulous Alex Newell. The Tracy Young remix is not only unexpected but should have been the original release as it's pure disco house perfection and is included in this set. I have no doubt that is Billboard's Dance Club charts were active this track would already be sitting at the top of it. Check it out below.

As the United States heads towards 100,000 dead from the virus please remember those that have sacrificed their lives just so you can do something as simple as listen to this podcast. Now, those same people (many who actually lived through the Spanish Flu of 1918) and through World War II are being forced to sacrifice again so that billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Trump's already wealthy buddies can get even richer at the lives and livelihood of tax payers. I'm not going to get all preachy but this shit is really fucked up. Sorry, but it really pisses the fuck out of me.
On a lighter note, I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend. I've already been pulling the latest Circuit tracks for our annual Pride Edition, which you can expect to drop within the next two weeks. I'm just waiting on advanced promos to come my way so I can include them. Until the next time...ENJOY!
