EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

Nice People Dancing To Good Techno Music
Sunday Mar 25, 2018
Sunday Mar 25, 2018
Welcome to another installment of Peak Hour, where we have a hot playlist of Techno and Tech House tunes that will keep you grooving all night long. This set is packed with gems, whether you're into the pulsating beats of Techno or the deeper grooves of Tech House. So let's dive right into some standout tracks.
First up, Helmut & Roy's "He Chilled Out" is a true Techno marvel, artfully blending hypnotic rhythms with atmospheric synth layers. It's a song that evokes the origins of Techno while seamlessly incorporating modern elements, making it a must-listen for any Techno aficionado.
On the Tech House front, we've got Chris Hartwig’s “The Nice Guy.” This track doesn't just serve up a catchy beat; it takes you on a sonic journey. The fluctuating tempos and captivating bass lines are signature Tech House elements, making this track a dance floor favorite.
Speaking of Tech House, don't miss out on Detlef and Dajae's “Deep Dip.” This is Tech House with soul, featuring Dajae's emotive vocals over a backdrop of intricate beats and complex instrumentation. It's one of those songs that captures the essence of the genre while taking it to new heights.
Now, let’s switch gears a bit with Fatboy Slim's classic, “Right Here, Right Now,” reimagined by Camelphat. Camelphat's Remix blends elements of both Techno and Tech House, creating a riveting auditory experience. It’s a respectful nod to the original while bringing something entirely new to the table.
Before we wrap up, I’d like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has sent their condolences over the recent passing of my father. The loss has been several years in the making, but it doesn’t make saying goodbye any easier. My dad was a unique blend of gruffness and warmth—grumpy in his later years but undeniably caring throughout his life. I'll forever cherish memories like him getting up in the middle of the night to soothe my childhood earaches. Your comforting words during this time mean more than I can express, so thank you.
Until the next time... ENJOY!

Spring Break 2018 | Top Dance Club Hits March
Saturday Mar 24, 2018
Saturday Mar 24, 2018
I'm dropping the Spring Break 2018 set a week early due to familial issues back in Texas, which I'll get to in just a moment. This set is compiled of the current top dance club hits or those that will soon be. As usual, Party Favorz is way ahead of the curb in the latest dance hits before they come onto your radar.
I've caught on to a trend that's been consistent for a long while now. The Circuit Tribal House and EDM Dance Club set I put out generates a lot of heat on its initial release. This is from what I call the early adopters. Three months later, these very same sets explode even more as folks become more familiar with the songs. A good example is the Holiday Edition 2017 had been riding high for the past couple of weeks. That was released in December. I wade through hundreds of submissions from labels, DJs, and charts for each compilation every month. I then research and compile the tracks I think will click with users. I throw in a few things I know won't but I'm digging as the DJ's pick. I'm not always right but overall I have a pretty damn good track record [pat on the back]. Don't be surprised to see this set ride up the "Popular" list and then quickly drop down and then reemerge in June again at the top. It happens all the time.
Since I'm going to be out of the loop for a while, I want to send out a friendly reminder that I'm trying to raise $183 for the website hosting that renews on April 12th. Currently, we are now at $96.00 with only $86 more to go. The way I see it is that the average number of downloads per episode over the past 12 months is approximately 1,000 users. Some are more than others but that's the average. If just a quarter of you donated $1.00 towards my efforts for providing you with downtime pleasure I could easily make this up without the hassle of begging. I would clear about .80 cents after PayPal gets their cut. I know we can do this. Once again, I'd to thank Ludovic D. (who has been more than generous this year) and Ignacio G. for their contributions. Please consider donating here.
In other news, my father is currently in in-house hospice care. He's not expected to make it through the weekend. My mother has already made arrangements to move from Houston to the Dallas suburbs to be closer to my sister at the end of April. There will be two services for my father and I'm hoping to attend the second in Dallas so I can see my nephews and niece at that time. My mother wants to have his ashes sent from Houston to Dallas so they can bury him there. My father is my best friend and I've already missed our Sunday conversations as he spews his FOX news talking points and I counter with my liberal positions. This is a hard one for me, and I'm unsure how to handle it. Sometimes, I just dig into my work to provide a distraction.
I've already compiled the tracks for the next Underground House set and may just work on it shortly to have it ready as a stop-gap later in April. I just know I have to walk away for a while but I will be back so don't freak out.
A lot is going on this weekend with the March for Our Lives in DC headed by some very aggressively smart kids. If you live in the area, please get out and support them if you can. It's time to take back our country. This is going to be followed up by a "60 Minutes" interview with Stormy Daniels on Sunday. I won't go into the lurid details as this has been all over the news recently unless you watch FOX, in which case they don't report the news only propaganda to satisfy those who choose live in their non-reality-based bubble.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and enjoys their Spring Break whether it's this weekend or next. Living close to South Padre Island, I always had a great time during Spring Break, though I won't go into my escapades as I was a wild child unleashed. The stories I could tell. I'll be back soon enough. Until then...ENJOY!

Spring Edition 2018
Friday Mar 23, 2018
Friday Mar 23, 2018
Welcome to the annual Spring Edition 2018 featuring the hottest circuit anthems for your workouts and festivities! No sooner than the first day of spring did a noreaster blow into town. We were spared the snow but got the brunt of heavy winds and freezing temperatures. Thankfully, it's already warming up. That being said, we've got a lot of ground to cover so let's get started.
This set features all of the upcoming circuit hits you'll be hearing in the next few months at events, festivals and your local club including some that are fresh out of the oven and exclusive to Party Favorz.
Pay close attention to San Francisco's DJ Pumpkin Spice, a new and rising star in music production and mixing. Not only is this guy pumping out some outstanding remixes but is a hottie to boot! He's featured here with his remix of "Tribal E Coisa Boa" by Danil Botelho and a rework of the 80's one-hit wonder track "I Eat Cannibals" by Toto Coelo, a song that I could never stomach, even today. However, out of all the 2018 remixes commissioned for this song, his remix along with Bugie takes it to another level, is outright fun and catchy as hell. Frankly, I'm also impressed with DJ Bugie who is someone I just started following on SoundCloud and think you should follow both of these guys as well.
In other news, I've re-started my YouTube channel if anyone is interested. For now, I've only got select mixes up there to demonstrate the diversity of my output but will be posting all new material going forward (unless they take it down due to copyright issues). In most cases, the rights owners usually just monetize it for their own benefit which is fine. In the end, YouTube is not my main focus and more like a loss-lead to bring awareness to the Party Favorz brand.
I divided everything up into playlists on YouTube and recently added one of the most popular sections, Gay Pride. I woke up this morning to have three identical comments on three of the episodes by some closeted Christian jackass who apparently trolls YouTube for anything gay-related and goes off about sodomites. I left his comments in place for now but issued my own response. If anyone wants to join in, feel free to do so.
Speaking of new platforms, no sooner than I finally land on Spotify, the feed goes down. My page is still there but it shows an error when you try to access it. Many podcasts are searchable and playable but that's not ideal. This error has not affected Apple Music, Google Play, Tunein, Podbean, nor Stitcher so the issue is totally on Spotify's end.
Unfortunately, podcasts are new for Spotify and there is no support currently being offered. I tried to reach via their forum but it looks like I can no longer post or something is going on. I can't say for certain. I'll let everyone know if and when it comes back online.
Finally, I had recently posted that I was trying to raise money to cover the costs of the website hosting, which is about to renew on April 12th. So far, I've raised $70 so we still have a way to go before the deadline. I want to give a HUGE shout out to Glenn A., Billy G., Paul B., and Ludovic D. for their donations. Folks, I really need your help to cover these costs. With a goal of $183, it shouldn't be that difficult to manage. Anything you can do to help out would be greatly appreciated! You can safely and securely donate here.
That's all I got for today. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. I just finished the final mixdown for the Spring Break Edition 2018 for all the EDM Dance-Club fans out there. Expect that to drop next week. Until then...ENJOY!

Debbie Harry + Blondie | The Diva Series
Saturday Mar 17, 2018
Saturday Mar 17, 2018
Blondie is an American New Wave and Punk band formed in the late 70s by frontwoman Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. While their first two albums performed well in the UK and Australia, they were largely considered an underground band in the US. It wasn't until the release of "Parallel Lines" in 1978 and several single releases that varied in the US and UK that the group struck gold with the massively successful disco-infused "Heart Of Glass."
Shortly after, everyone's focus was on the lead singer Debbie Harry who soon became a fixture at Studio 54 and one of several muses for Andy Warhol. In performances, she could easily glide between sexy and sensual to outright punk and don't give a fuck. For a queer boy like me, she was the main fixture next to Chrissie Hynde hung up on my bedroom wall as I entered high school. She was one of my idols. In fact, "Eat To the Beat" is one of my all-time favorite albums that I'd play religiously until I wore it out and had to purchase a new copy.
[metaslider id=45763]
This tribute to Debbie Harry and Blondie focuses on the group's career as well as Ms. Harry's solo work. I've taken the best of the remixes from various official collections released over the years and disregarded the worst. Then I pulled in more recent releases along with a few bootlegs to paint a complete picture of her and the band's work, as it pertains to the dancefloor.
Love her or hate her, Debbie Harry is the consummate DIVA who paved the way for many female artists. It is with complete love and devotion that Party Favorz recognizes those achievements and inducts the one and only Debbie Harry into the Diva Hall of Fame.

Shirley Manson + Garbage | The Diva Series
Thursday Mar 15, 2018
Thursday Mar 15, 2018
If you were into alternative rock in the 90s (and who wasn't) or were bouncing off the walls at raves popping up all over the globe, then you were likely a big fan of Garbage. The group formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1993 and featured Scottish-born Shirley Manson and Americans Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig. They have sold over 17 million albums worldwide.¹
While every member was instrumental in the composition and creation of all their songs, it was the charismatic and outspoken Shirley Manson who was not only the lead vocalist but the focal point behind these veteran players. Often sought out for interviews, Manson was not demure in her opinions on a variety of subjects in frank language.
Manson likely is indebted to women like Debbie Harry (Blondie), Chrissie Hynde (Pretenders), and to a certain extent Wendy O. Williams (Plasmatics). Much like these leading ladies, they controlled the narrative, led all-male bands, and embodied female empowerment.
Shirley Manson is the defacto Diva's DIVA of a different stripe. The remixes of the group's biggest tracks (save a couple) are fairly dark and embody the changing musical landscape in the '90s when a variety of sub-genres of house music were springing up.
While hindsight is 20/20, listening to the blistering drum and bass of Crystal Method's remix of "I Think I'm Paranoid" and Felix Da Housecat's remix of "Androgyny" it sounds like the focus was more on the remixer than the actual songs themselves. Then again, if you were all hopped up on X at the time, you likely didn't care.
Collectively, I've covered the period when Garbage was at its peak. These remixes paved the way for many of the styles we hear today and frankly could fit easily into any modern-day set.
Being one of my all-time favorite groups (along with the influencers mentioned above), Party Favorz is thrilled to induct Shirley Manson and Garbage into the Diva Hall of Fame. Enjoy!

Kelly Rowland | The Diva Series
Tuesday Mar 13, 2018
Tuesday Mar 13, 2018
Party Favorz has inducted Beyoncé and Destiny's Child into the Diva Hall of Fame. However, this doesn't paint the full picture of the continued success of DC's members. Kelly Rowland was an original member of Destiny's Child but also had a great deal of success on her own.
In between albums, she released her debut "Simply Deep" which included the massively successful duet with Nelly titled "Dilemma." The album went on to sell 2.5 million copies. After the members of Destiny's Child disbanded in 2006, she released her second album "Ms. Kelly" which spun out the hits "Like This" and "Work."
It wasn't until she collaborated with David Guetta on the massive worldwide hit "When Love Takes Over" that she began to dabble in the EDM scene. Her third album "Here I Am" spawned the worldwide hit "Commander" as well as the R&B/Hip-Hop #1 "Motivation."
Soon after, she collaborated with multiple producers in the dance music scene generating additional international club hits. While Kelly continues to work and/or make appearances on television, we hope that she continues her long successful streak in the dance music scene. Her vocal abilities are second to none and with the expanding sub-genres in house music, there is more than enough to fit her style.
It is with great pleasure that Party Favorz inducts Ms. Kelly Rowland into the Diva Hall of Fame. Enjoy!

Painting a picture of Destiny's Child dance history would not be complete without the soulful renditions of their tracks. This is where Maurice Joshua comes into the picture. Much like his contemporaries Frankie Knuckles, Todd Terry, Louie Vega, Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez, and Eric Kupper to name a few, Joshua had been producing and remixing tracks since the 80s.
In addition to his work with Destiny's Child, he was the favored remixer for another Diva Hall of Fame inductee Kim English. His relationship with Beyoncé was often compared to that of Mariah Carey and David Morales in that she would often re-sing her parts to accompany his garage-house remixes. This is readily apparent on his remix for Bills, Bills, Bills recorded live where Beyoncé adlibs many of the vocals not included in the original track, much like Mariah did in her earlier work with Morales.
Several of the more popular remixes attributed to Digital Black-N-Groove is an alias Joshua used to produce more club-ready remixes that were the flip-opposite of the Nu Soul style he was known for.
To cover all facets of the DC era, Party Favorz is proud to present to you Destiny Child's House Sessions. Enjoy!

Destiny’s Child | The Diva Series
Saturday Mar 10, 2018
Saturday Mar 10, 2018
If you've been paying attention, you would have realized that Destiny's Child would be the next inductee into the Diva Hall of Fame. DC was originally an all-female quartet called Girl's Tyme, which was formed in 1990. With minor success, they eventually signed with Columbia and became known as Destiny's Child. Managed by Mathew Knowles (father to Beyoncé), much tension was generated within the group due to the emphasis on his daughter and another member Kelly Rowland making for a revolving door that eventually whittled down to a trio and the most successful lineup of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams.
The group garnered a top 10 hit after a remix of their first single "No, No, No" by Wyclef Jean which put them on the map. The release of their second album "The Writings on the Wall" generated the number-one singles "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Say My Name" firmly solidifying their move from minor players to superstardom.
Since Beyoncé has already been inducted multiple times into the Diva Hall of Fame, it's only fitting to acknowledge that from where she first achieved success. Destiny's Child has sold over 60 million albums worldwide and is ranked as one of the most successful trios of all time. Billboard also has them ranked as the 90th most successful dance club artists of all time; all the more reason for their induction.
This tribute set focuses on heavier club anthems we all know and love while a second set will feature the housed-up versions of their popular hits. Without further ado, please give a rousing applause for the long overdue induction of Destiny's Child into the Diva Hall of Fame.

TLC which consisted of Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas and was formed in Atlanta, Georgia (what up ATL) in 1990, is the ultimate all-girl group from the '90s that was only 2nd to the Spice Girls in worldwide popularity and hit singles. They beat them in the latter. which consisted of Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas and were formed in Atlanta, Georgia (what up ATL) in 1990.
With massive hits like "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg," "Baby-Baby-Baby," "What About Your Friends," "Creep," "Waterfalls," "No Scrubs," and "Unpretty" these ladies were near unstoppable during the '90s. They amassed 9 top-10 hits with four of them going to number one. They've sold 65 million records worldwide (only second to Spice Girls) and wracked up 4 Grammy Awards, 5 MTV Video Music Awards, and 4 Soul Train Awards. They are also ranked as the 7th most successful act of the 1990s and still perform as a duo today after the death of Lisa Lopes.
The Ben Liebrand remix of "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" is one of my all-time favorite party house tracks from the '90s and featured some of the best lyrics barring Salt "N' Pepa and Missy Elliot ever laid down.
Yo if I need it in the morning or the middle of the night
I ain't 2 proud 2 beg (no)
If the lovin' is strong then he got it goin' on and
I ain't 2 proud 2 beg (no)
2 inches or a yard rock hard or if it's saggin'
I ain't 2 proud 2 beg (no)
So it ain't like I'm braggin' just join the paddywagon cause
I ain't 2 proud 2 beg, I ain't 2 proud 2 beg

After the wildly successful dance-pop debut by Expose in the late 80s, commercial music began taking a detour right when Hip Hop started to mainstream to a wider audience. In 1990, En Vogue released their debut album "Born To Sing" which yielded the #2 hit "Hold On." As talented as these ladies (Terry Ellis, Dawn Robinson, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones) were, it wasn't clear if they had staying power.
Two years later that question was answered with the release of "Funky Divas" which yielded three top 10 hits "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)", "Giving Him Something He Can Feel", and "Free Your Mind." There was no doubt, these ladies dominated. With expectations running high, they finally released their third album "EV3" in 1996 which generated the top ten smash "Don't Let Go (Love)" but then dropped off shortly after.
It's possible that the long lapses between releases had a lot to do with their decline in popularity. I truly believe that the Clive Davis philosophy played a big role as well. That is to remix their hits for the dance floor to extend their presence in all facets of popular music. We'll see the same with another superstar all-girl Hip Hop group in a couple of days. The remixes were and still are a vital marketing tool for artists to reach as many fans as possible. It's not they didn't have any, but remixes appeared to be commissioned for non-hits off their albums.
Regardless, En Vogue has sold 20 million records worldwide and ranked as the 2nd most successful female groups of the 1990s with "Don't Let Go (Love)" and "Hold On" ranking as the #12 and #23 most successful girl group songs of all-time. ¹
In 2017, En Vogue (now consisting of Terry Ellis, Rhona Bennett, and Cindy Herron) released "Electric Cafe" and is still touring in support of their current and previous work. You can keep up with their latest at envoguemusic.com.
Party Favorz is proud to induct these talented ladies into the Diva Hall of Fame.

Party Favorz has covered every major DIVA recording artist that has topped Billboards Dance Club Charts over the past 30 years, the majority of which are included in its Greatest of All Time Top Dance Club Artists chart where Madonna reigns supreme.
I've also completed tributes to other artists whose music wasn't necessarily intended for the dance floor but was remixed by devoted fans because of their affection and stature as gay icons and their alliance with our community.
One such artist is the amazing Dolly Parton. The woman is a tour de force and needs no introduction. She's a country singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actress, author, businesswoman, and philanthropist who has won multiple American Country Music Awards, Grammy's, Emmy's, American Music Awards, and Academy nominations to name a few.
She's often imitated but never duplicated and rivals another diva inducted into the hall of fame for her business acumen and longevity. It is with much admiration, love, and respect that Party Favorz honors the one and only Ms. Dolly Parton into the Diva Hall of Fame. Enjoy!
