Top Dance Songs of 2016 Volume 3
Thursday Dec 22, 2016
Thursday Dec 22, 2016
In the ever-changing landscape of music, 2016 marked a significant year electronic dance music, as displayed in the Top Dance Songs of 2016. The year saw remarkable output from artists like Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and The Chainsmokers, each contributing distinctively to the dance music sphere.
Rihanna's 'Anti' album was a resounding success, spawning several Top 10 tracks. The standout 'This Is What You Came For', a collaboration with Calvin Harris and co-written by Taylor Swift, is a dance floor hit and undoubtedly one of the Top Dance Songs of 2016.
Justin Bieber, riding the wave of success from his 2015 'Purpose' album, solidified his presence in 2016's dance music scene. His collaborations with Major Lazer on 'Cold Water' and DJ Snake on 'Let Me Love You' not only topped charts but also contributed significantly to the list of Top Dance Songs of 2016. Despite his controversial image, Bieber's talent is undeniable, particularly when combined with industry-leading producers.
However, the true dance music titans of 2016 were The Chainsmokers. Following their 2014 hit '#Selfie' and their debut album 'Bouquet' in 2015, their track 'Closer' with Halsey confirmed their status as EDM trendsetters with an attractive pop edge.
As we move closer to the end of our countdown of 2016's biggest dance hits, I'd like to extend thanks to Gary B. for his generous donation. Also, a note to our Firefox users experiencing issues with our donation plugin; we're working on a fix, but for now, Chrome, Explorer, or Safari may provide a smoother experience.
Stay tuned for the final installment of the Top Dance Songs of 2016. Until then...ENJOY!

Top Dance Songs of 2016 Volume 2

In the dynamic world of dance music, 2016 marked a notable shift towards our musical roots. The year's dance hits - the Top Dance Songs of 2016 - saw a resurgence of '70s disco vibes, significantly shaped by the legendary Nile Rodgers. Aside from leading the celebrated '70s disco band Chic, Rodgers also shaped the '80s music scene by producing chart-topping hits for icons such as Madonna, Diana Ross, David Bowie, and Duran Duran. His current influence demonstrates that the sounds of yesteryears still resonate on today's dancefloors, proving the timeless adage that 'what's old becomes new again'.
A definitive game-changer in 2015 was 'Lean On Me' by Major Lazer & DJ Snake. This sensational summer anthem, with its laid-back Reggaeton beat, carved a path for many of the chart-topping hits of 2016. As a result, the traditional 128 bpm dance track has made way for a slower average of 120 bpm, favoring radio-friendly beats over traditional dance floor rhythms. This shift necessitates adaptability from music creators who want to stay relevant.
This trend is clearly mirrored in the four-part series of the Top Dance Songs of 2016, showcasing a transition towards slower, sultrier beats that harken back to the '70s Disco and '80s Dance eras. While commercialized Deep House remains a strong presence, the focus is on the downbeat, showcasing the cyclical nature of music trends. Undoubtedly, '90s-era house music will eventually make a comeback, but for now, it's all about the languid beats.
Stay tuned for the third part of our journey through the Top Dance Songs of 2016, arriving tomorrow. Until then...ENJOY!

Party Favorz is proud to present our annual collection of the Top Dance Songs of 2016. These are the biggest dance tracks that have defined the year for us. While music is inherently subjective, and everyone has their personal favourites, our focus has always been to highlight the most commercial, most popular dance tracks of the year.
You may have noticed that we're gradually moving away from the EDM label and embracing the broader 'dance' genre. We understand that all music we feature here can be classified as 'electronic dance music', and we feel that the 'dance' genre is more representative of the wide variety of styles we share. The music world may constantly redefine genres to stay on trend, but at the end of the day, good club music transcends labels.
We have made it easy for iTunes users to subscribe and stay updated with their preferred categories. We provide separate feeds for each category on the site, so you can subscribe to only those you like. This helps to keep your playlist organised and allows you to quickly find the music that suits your mood. Non-iTunes users can copy the address for each category and submit it to their preferred RSS reader on any device.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our supporters who have helped Party Favorz continue in our mission to be the best dance music podcast. We would like to give a special shout-out to recent contributors, Gary B., Eric W., Alberto M., Anthony B., and Luis B. Your generous donations have been instrumental in our transition to a new service and have ensured our ability to continue bringing you the Top Dance Songs of 2016.
Stay tuned for part 2 of the Top Dance Songs of 2016 coming out tomorrow. Until then...ENJOY!

Holiday Edition 2016 Volume 2
Sunday Dec 11, 2016
Sunday Dec 11, 2016
Updated version includes "Enough Is Enough (Offer Nissim Total Meltdown Mix)" by Donna Summer & Barbara Streisand.
We're back with the 2nd installment of the 2016 Holiday Edition more tribalicious treats to kick those holiday blues to the curb.
Britney is back with her latest "Slumber Party" (think pillow fights and hair braiding but on an adult level) with Brazil's Felipe Angel doing the remix honors. He drops in again with his take on Sia's "The Greatest".
Ricky Rebel teases with Boys & Sometimes Girls, while DJ VMC (another Brazilian DJ on the rise) re-energizes Shannon's early 80's dancefloor classic "Let the Music Play".
Houston's Dirty Disco score two really huge winners with their mega-remix of the Jessica Folker classic "To Be Able to Love" by George Figares & DJ Blacklow featuring Brenda Reed which would make Jonathan Peters proud and really gets sleazy on Tyler Glenn's confessional single "Shameless". These two songs represent two factions of the gay community and couldn't possibly have anymore contrast in style and substance than say Kim Kardashian and Lena Dunham. Dirty Disco taps into the core of these floor-scorchers and delivers their productions like two heaping slabs of hedonistic lust on a gold platter.
Barry Harris takes Dua Lipa's massive "Blow Your Mind" and pairs it with Twenty One Pilots "Heathens" creating a fun bouncy mashup bound to make your head spin.
Perhaps the biggest surprise resurgence of the year goes to Air Supply. The early 80's guilty pleasure duo who supplied the Top 40 with one adult contemporary sappy love song after another jumps back into the spotlight. With re-recorded vocals, "All Out of Love" has new life breathed into it for the dancefloor and is currently (once again) riding high on the charts. Joe Gauthreaux & Leanh turn the drama-laden milker into a giant circuit tear-jerker.
We finally close this set out with the re-affirming former number one, "Say Yes" by the amazingly talented Jason Walker. True to style, Moto Blanco captures the essences of the original allowing Jason's glorious vocals to soar above the production.
Party Favorz is in the final stretch of 2016 as we work hard to deliver the Year's Best in Dance. We still got a lot heading your way so make sure you stay tuned and as always ...ENJOY!

On the 14th day of Christmas, Party Favorz is giving you what you want, what you really, REALLY want.
After combing through about 200+ of the latest tribal offerings from some of the hottest DJs on the globe, I managed to narrow-down this year's offerings to the biggest and the best.
You're going to notice what appears to be my new BF pop-up throughout these two sets, but he's really an old flame that appears to have really come into his own recently. I'm talking about the UK's Dan Thomas. The man is on fire and his mixes burn brightly like a star leading you to the promised land.
Houston's men about town Mark D. and JD Arnold (aka. Dirty Disco) are literally blowing the roof off with their mixes. They make their holiday appearance on pt. 2 of this series. They just seem to have that midas touch when it comes to their productions. More on them tomorrow.
Between these guys, Barry Harris and the good folks at Swishcraft (Matt Consola), King of Spins (Eddie Gordon) and all the fantastic talent they've managed to rope in, it looks like 2017 could be the year of a major circuit renaissance.
For now, check out our biggest circuit set(s) of the year. From hot Santa's, uplifting anthems, dirty nasty beats to sugar plums and fairy tales [clear throat]... it's ALL here!
I'll be back tomorrow with part 2. Until then...ENJOY!

Jingle Electric 2016 Volume 2
Wednesday Dec 07, 2016
Wednesday Dec 07, 2016
One thing you'll notice on the two Jingle Electric sets is that the songs are getting shorter and shorter. So much so, they're pretty much radio edits. This is a trend that started several years ago with Jump Smokers and their shelved remix album for Mariah. This is likely at the behest of the major labels for whatever their reasons.
It does make mixing a challenge, but it's something I've had to contend with previously, just not on this grand of a scale.
Basically, I'm relying on my skills of editing the mixes together much like I did back in the day on two Nakamichi tape decks. I had gotten so damn good at it, folks thought the sets were one continuous mix; a testament to my skills.
Nevertheless, I may be a bit rusty but overall, I think these sets turned out quite nicely considering the vast BPM range of the songs I was dealing with.
So pop on this current set of the Jingle Electric and be sure to let me know what you think!
I'll be back next week with the HOT Santa's and circuit beats for the boys! Until then...ENJOY!

I managed to get a free month from Blubrry, my new home for delivering the finest dance music podcast on the planet! That does not mean I still don't need the help, because I'm always in need of financial assitance for Party Favorz.

X-mas Dance 2K16 | Christmas Dance Megamix
Thursday Dec 01, 2016
Thursday Dec 01, 2016
HO! HO! HO! I wasn't sure how to pull this off but somehow I managed. I had several dance tunes leftover from X-mas Dance 2010 and 2K14 that I wasn't sure how to incorporate into a cohesive set. With a few new entries showing up and help from our good friend Marshall B., I was able to string together an all new set that includes some of our favorite tunes from season's past.
X-mas Dance 2K16 is one BIG fat continuous holiday dance mix that hits all the right notes and includes remixes from several decades starting from the 70's [gulp]. Many of the perennial favorites are here. With Party Favorz coming up on our 10 year anniversary in 2017, this will undoubtedly be our final mix in the X-mas Dance category but likely a favorite of yours for years to come.
I want to give a HUGE shoutout to our followers who have contributed to the ongoing operations of Party Favorz. These awesome folks are: Anthony S. $100; Glenn A. $20; Keith M. $100; Casper Y. $200; Doug B. $50; Ignacio G $10; David J. $25; Martti T. $50; djsr46 $100
These donations have been a major source of relief but more (of course) is always welcome and in fact needed. If you would like to contribute to making this the best damn dance podcast on the planet, you can do so at https://partyfavorz.com/donations/18024/.
I'll finally be rolling out the Jingle Electric and Holiday Edition over the course of the next two weeks before bringing out the year's top guns for the Year in Dance.
I hope everybody has a fantastic weekend. Until the next time...ENJOY!

DJ Barry Harris Dance Tribute Mix Volume 2
Saturday Nov 26, 2016
Saturday Nov 26, 2016
From being one-half of the legendary remix duo Thunderpuss to forging a successful solo career, DJ Barry Harris has an undeniable impact on the dance music scene that spans decades. As we dive into Volume 2 of our tribute to this music maestro, we explore a series of sensational remixes that showcase his enduring creativity and skill.
Starting off with Calvin Harris and Rihanna's "This Is What You Came For," we're instantly reminded of Barry Harris's ability to transform a mainstream hit into a pulsating dance-floor magnet. He injects the track with vibrant rhythms and grooves that elevate it from a radio-friendly tune to a club anthem. The same mastery is apparent in Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop The Feeling." Barry Harris amplifies the song's upbeat tempo, adding an electrifying depth that makes you want to dance with unabashed joy.
Next, we have another Calvin Harris collaboration, this time featuring Ellie Goulding, titled "Outside." What's notable about this particular remix is how he retains the emotive essence of the original while infusing it with a higher BPM and mesmerizing loops. It's a seamless blend of Harris meeting Harris, if you will.
Now, let's shift the spotlight to a legend of pop music — Madonna. Barry Harris has applied his golden touch to her songs "Ghosttown (Barry Harris Club Remix)" and "Deeper & Deeper 2K14 (Barry Harris 2k14 Remix)." His version of "Ghosttown" is a hauntingly beautiful rendition that captivates from the first note. For "Deeper & Deeper," he introduces contemporary beats without sacrificing the original's iconic vibe, demonstrating how he brings classic tracks into the modern age.
Andra Day's inspirational hit "Rise Up" is another stunning example of his ability to adapt and contribute to diverse musical genres. The mix adds a rhythmic pulse to the powerful lyrics, encouraging you to both reflect and dance. And who could overlook Beyoncé's "Freedom (Barry Harris Dirty Bootleg Mix)?" Barry Harris takes the song's strong thematic elements and amplifies them with percussive layers and energetic beats, making it an empowering dance floor declaration.
What sets Barry Harris apart is his inimitable style; he doesn't just remix a song, he revives it. He takes each track and embeds his own unique musical DNA into it, which is why Party Favorz is honored to spotlight his work yet again.
In summary, DJ Barry Harris is not just a remixer; he's a musical storyteller, constantly weaving past and present into an intoxicating blend that stands the test of time. His consistent output suggests a longevity that is still unfolding, leaving us eager for the next chapter. Here's to many more years of Barry Harris filling our lives with the soundtrack to unforgettable nights.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

DJ Barry Harris Dance Tribute Mix Volume 1
Saturday Nov 26, 2016
Saturday Nov 26, 2016
Since parting ways with Thunderpuss in 2003, a powerhouse DJ duo he co-founded with Cris Cox, DJ Barry Harris took a hiatus from the commercial remix and production scene for nearly a decade. But the industry legend made a grand comeback in 2014, methodically re-establishing his prominence with an array of original remixes, nostalgic reimaginings, and contemporary mashups.
His renewed career kicked off with original mixes like "Party 'Round the World" featuring Jason Dottley and Debbie Holiday. He also revisited classic hits, offering his take on Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and even revitalized Thunderpuss-era favorites like Tamia's "Stranger in My House." But Barry Harris didn't stop at revisiting the past; he also proved his relevance with bootleg mashups of current chart-toppers, blending Justin Bieber's "Sorry" with Madonna's track of the same name, and fusing Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" with Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love."

Soon enough, major labels took notice. They not only gave their blessing to his bootleg remixes but also started commissioning him for official mixes for contemporary artists like Sia, Calvin Harris, and Ellie Goulding. His remix of Adele's epic hit "Hello" further cemented his status as a go-to remixer for a new wave of club aficionados, setting a standard for how remixing should be done today.

Here at Party Favorz, we've consistently spotlighted DJ Barry Harris's work, recognizing him as one of our preferred DJs of the current moment—a moment that has impressively extended, thanks to his prolific output. What sets him apart from other high-volume remixers like Almighty, 7th Heaven, and Tiësto, is his authenticity: Barry Harris is his own "ghost remixer," personally crafting every project that bears his name.
Barry Harris's gift for reinvigorating his past triumphs while deftly adapting to contemporary musical landscapes is nothing short of awe-inspiring. His steady stream of new work signals not just a revival, but a career that promises to influence dance music for years to come.
In celebration of his enduring impact and continual evolution, Party Favorz is proud to honor DJ Barry Harris with this deserving tribute set. We look forward to grooving to his beats in 2017 and beyond.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Welcome to the final installment of the Trash Disco series. 'Good Times' had been put on hold due to the remaining songs not being cohesive enough to stitch together.
With some recent releases I picked up at JunoDownload, I was able to put the last nail in the genre-defying category that is DISCO. By no means is this even close to complete but the eight sets that make up this series are a damn good start to sink your teeth into and make for one helluva throwback party.
I pulled in the remaining Chic classics, ensuring that Nile Rodgers and company were well represented throughout. This last set also leans heavily on its sister decade the 80's. The catchy and sophisticated 'Saturday Love' by Cherrelle, Dr. Packer's updated Gwen Guthrie classic 'Ain't Nothing Going On but the Rent' and the down and dirty funk of Lakeside's epic 'Fantastic Voyage' stitch the seams of this bulging set of disco gems from the 70's.
In an effort to control bots and certain elements of society from draining my server and bandwidth, I've implemented a registration and login requirement for Party Favorz. I'm good at digging into the numbers and have zoned in on certain individuals and countries that are like vampires. If this doesn't slow them down, I'll roll out full blocks by next month.
I've also updated the site icon and logo that leaves behind the grunge rendering that was so three years ago, in favor of a cleaner and modernized look. I know it's hard to get too excited about, but I spent several days designing and putting this together. Let me know what you think.
Finally, I've set up ALL of the categories (DANCE, Circuit, Funky House, etc.) as their own separate entity in iTunes. For instance, if you only come here for Classic House and Divas you can subscribe to just those and they'll download into their own individual folder. If you love everything but want to keep it all separate so you can easily visit it based on your mood; subscribing to each category individually will create an individual folder for each.
Then again, some folks like the element of surprise, in which case subscribing to the main feed is fine. You can find and subscribe to all the categories in iTunes at Podcasts By Party Favorz. How cool is that? [brushes off dust from shoulder, hmmph.]
As we edge into the Thanksgiving holiday, I want everyone to be thankful for at least one thing and putting Party Favorz at the top of that list would be an excellent suggestion [grin].
I'll be back soon with a Black Friday 2 for 1 special. Until then ...ENJOY!

Into the Deep [vol. 3]
Saturday Nov 19, 2016

As promised, I'm back and digging in deeper and darker with 'Into the Deep [vol. 3]'.
This set kicks off with the deceptively delicious 'Things We Might Have Said' by Cari Golden feat. Reinier Zonneveld. The track is a slow-burner with it's light pulsating synth that builds with the anticipation of release only to resume a steady low-key beat. Climax never arrives, rendering the listener with a serious case of blue-balls.
We quickly move into the 90's prog-classic 'Plastic Dreams' by Jaydee that was the forerunner for the alt-progressive house movement. Coupled with Groove Armada's 'Superstylin', which echos another 90's era classic 'Born Slippy' by Underworld, the two songs compliment each other perfectly but don't lay out the direction of the overall set.
To keep you rooted in the here and now, the set transitions into several house tunes (on dark tip) that add illumination and prevent listeners from sliding into the abyss.
By the end, 'Into the Deep' begins to transition back to where it began before closing the set out on a very uplifting positive note with 'White Keys' by Redondo & Deepme making the overall journey worth the trip.
I have a very special Tribute set dropping later this week and am trying to see if I have enough time to squeak out a BackSpin request from long ago. No promises on that one.
Expect the long-delayed EDM now DANCE set, which will be this year's 'Jingle Electric' followed by the annual 'Holiday Edition' the week after. I am a man of many talents; so walking and chewing gum at the same time is second nature to me. It's not uncommon for me to be working on multiple sets simultaneously.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. Until the next time...ENJOY!
