Gloria Estefan | The Diva Series

I can't think of no better way to offset a nu-school Diva induction with an old-school induction that frankly, is long overdue.
Gloria Estefan is a multi-Grammy winner with several top ten hits including Conga (her-trademark song performed with Miami Sound Machine), Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, 1-2-3, Get On Your Feet, Anything For You, Here We Are, Coming Out of the Dark, Oye! and Party Time to name a few. She's won an MTV Video Music Award, a couple of ACE awards, an American Music Award, and multiple Billboard awards. She was inducted into the BMI  Songwriters Hall of Fame and is listed as one of VH1's top 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. With a resume like that, it's no wonder she has garnered a great deal of respect as a mover and shaker within the recording industry.
I'm not here to pile on more accolades, or maybe I am. What I will say is that her "salsa es muy caliente."

Spring Edition 2016 | The Hottest Circuit Beats for Your Spring Workout

I've got the Spring Edition on tap for you folks. I know you boys have been waiting for something new to jazz up your workouts. Well, it's finally here.
It starts out sounding like the Barry Harris hour before giving away to other DJs. Let's face it; Barry's got an ear for this stuff and frankly puts a lot of the current crop of circuit DJs to shame. That being said, I was able to be very particular about what else went into this set; so, I'd definitely say it's the best of the rest that made the cut, making for a solid superset.
I've been keeping an eye on DJ Ranny's work for a while and frankly, he's been no stranger to Party Favorz but I got to say this guy is at the top of his game. Nowhere is this better reflected than his EPIC remix of Florence + the Machine's Queen of Peace. This is so OMFG momentous that it makes me feel proud to witness how Ranny has evolved over the years from a local DJ in Boston to an international powerhouse. Give the girl a standing O, please.
At the current rate, Party Favorz' doors should be wide open by the end of this next week. As I write this, Party Favorz doors are officially open.
There is a brand-spanking new junior D-I-V-A induction into the Hall of Fame I'll be posting tomorrow morning. The only hint I'll give is that she's about to embark on the US leg of her already successful tour in a week or so and that the gay boys adore her.

Spring Break 2016 | The Biggest Dance Hits to Get You to Summer!

Here is the final version of Spring Break 2016 that frankly should have been released a month ago. Maybe it's because of the amount of time I had to go back and tweak a few things here and there or maybe I'm just a genius (NOT), whatever the reason, this is some of the best work I've done in a long while.
Things start out House smooth before quickly building up into an all-out EDM party assault.  Just when your balls are sweating through your boxers, I slowing turn the notch down and slowly lower the needle with some of today's hottest house hits.
It appears the EDM scene is in a transition and making the necessary adjustments in an over-saturated "same-sound" market, which is a good thing. My job is to dive in and pick the best elements of the current crop of tunes while trying to identify what I think the future is going to sound like. Elements can be found here and you'll no doubt be hearing more of those transitions throughout the year. That is, until we get bored and start all over again.

Disco Hits Remixed & Re-imagined Volume 2 | Trash Disco Megamix

After dicking-around with my logo all morning, I'm finally getting around to posting the second installment of Trash Disco
Personally, I'm shocked at the overwhelmingly positive response the first set received. I really wasn't expecting that kind of reaction. I am pleased to tell you, this set was actually supposed to be part 1 but I swapped it at the last moment because I thought this was the stronger of the two sets and was going to use it to kick-off the subscription service. In fact, this set is so groove-a-licious, it can lift the laziest of you off the sofa to shake your ass.
Since I don't have everything in place yet, this one is on the house (pun intended), so get your roller-skates on because it's time to get down and B-O-O-G-I-E.
I finally have a weekend without any obligations and I plan on using this time to get everything up and running. The goal is to make the service fully automated without subscribers waiting up to 24 hours for me to email them back with a code. Everything needs to be self-sufficient so that my time is only spent between work (the kind that pays the bills) and doing what I do best, which is serving up sizzling hot platters of house music.
I may take some time off, so it might be at least two weeks before posting resumes. I know everyone is eager for me to get back to my normal pace of releases, so please give me some time to get everything tidy around here and then I'm on it.

Disco Hits Remixed & Re-imagined Volume 1 | Trash Disco Megamix

Happy Saturday everybody! Well, well, well...I bet nobody saw this one coming. I've had a massive disco hard-on for some time now that's left me with shiny disco blue balls and I just needed to get some relief.
Over the years, I've snuck in these little disco re-make gems into my house sets and decided it was time to start compiling them and put them all together. Because many are re-named other than what they actually are (likely due to copyright agreements), it's hard tracking these all down in my massive collection of dance music. I went back and picked up a few more and laid down the first of two sets in this new series. If you're looking to own any of these, most can be found by the track name listed here at junodownload.com.
I wasn't sure what category to file this under so I went with BackSpin. I can see this expanding into 80's music as well, so the list of possibilities with this new series is endless. I hope ya'll enjoy this as much as I did putting it together because if you don't, I still have another one on tap for next week.  We'll get back to normal operations soon enough but trust me when I say, you ain't missing much at the moment.
I want to thank Benjamin W. for his thoughtful donation he just sent my way. That's going to go a long way towards covering my costs for this month.

The Mixtape Sessions | Winter ^16

It's been almost a year since the last Mixtape release; far too long if you ask me.  I thought I could forego this series and just drop a few songs into my House sets to satisfy that itch but it just left me wanting more. Frankly, there's just too much damn good music coming out these days for me to leave them on the cutting-room floor.
I took a few personal favorites (All My Friends, I Took a Pill in Ibiza) from earlier House sets and mixed them in with newer go-to favorites of the moment, to make a soul-satisfying, mind-altering, mood enhancing cocktail-blend that goes down smooth with no aftertaste.
While every song included in this one and a half hour+ set is fantastic, I'm obligated to point out certain tracks that standout and/or strike a serious chord with me. Sandy Rivera's awesome "Longtime Coming" revives the Sam Cooke classic "A Change Is Gonna Come" and wraps it into a deep and funky house tune that befits the original.  In an election year with an angry electorate, this song accurately reflects the mood of the country.
Just when you thought it wasn't possible to milk a dead cow any longer, the forever fabulous Loleatta Holloway is sampled (yet again) to create "Shelter" by Syncrosonic.  "Love Vibration" is quite possibly the most sampled song in history. Every phrase, verbiage, exaggeration and iteration of Lola's disco classic has been dissected in whole or in itsy bitsy parts to create entirely new songs for a new generation of house music lovers.  "Shelter" represents one of the most effective uses of sampling that creates an overwhelming sense of warmth not heard in house music in a very longtime.
Other standout tracks include the devious and delectable indie track "BTFU (Mommy Issues)" by Mark Johns and an un-credited vocalist, "Wasted on You" by Louis Futon & ROZES (who is quickly becoming the darling of the indie dance world) and the deep house bomb "I Love It When You" by Sam Callahan.

EVDM | Electronic Valentine Dance Music

As I get back into the swing of things, I'll be rolling out the tunes one by one.  I've got more back catalog sitting on my computer at the moment that's burning a hole in my hard drive trying to break free.
Right out of the gate, I'm serving up a massive EDM set that swings from some serious HEAVY HOUSE hitters to POWER ELECTRO-HOUSE anthems with a touch of URBAN JAM in-between.
Originally, I thought I might break this up into two sets but decided to eliminate a few songs and stitch it together for one wild ride.  The break comes between Sol Brothers Turn Me Out and Birdy's fantastic Keeping Your Head Up. The two competing styles don't exactly make for a perfect transition but it is good enough when playing in party mode. When you get past that, the overall set list reads like the hottest ticket in danceland at the moment or soon will be.

We Love To Boogie!

As promised, I'm back with the second installment of my funkyhousediscoshit.  Just like Boogie Nights, this set features a wide assortment of genres but this time they range from Deep House and Disco to Urban House, Tech House and good ole fashion Soulful House.
We Love to Boogie starts off really cool and then begins to slowly heat up.  About two-thirds of the way in, all bets are off and I pretty much burn down the house.  Shortly after, I drop the temperature a few notches and keep up the pace from there.
I closed the set with an unexpected gem by the Beatles.  I can honestly say that Taxman is one of my least favorite songs from the Fab Four's vast catalog and an unlikely candidate to get a 21st century EDM remix.  LA's Mot & Krid deliver a surprisingly fantastic production that would fit perfectly in an Austin Powers soundtrack (go-go boots, miniskirts and all).  While not particularly the typical "house" song I would include in my funky sets, it's just too much damn fun to leave on the cutting room floor.
Some of you have sent emails about the site being down or not being able to download the podcasts.  Everything appears to be in working order at the moment.  As for the site issues, I've noticed many problems with Bluehost ever since I switched to them last year and am looking forward to going back to Siteground by the summer.
The actual podcasts have been hosted over at House-Mixes, a fairly decent site that's a one-man operation, much like Party Favorz.  Considering the magnitude and complexity of putting together a site like that by a single individual, I have to say that Paul really does a great job.  Nevertheless, the frequent outages and lack of control over what I post is beginning to become a bit of a headache.
With the recent passage of TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) I am predicting some major changes in the podcasting industry within a year or less, none of which looks promising much less fair.  In the next few weeks, I'll be looking at my options for hosting all the music myself, without having to rely on a third-party who will no doubt be heavily scrutinized (which they already are) by the music industry.  It's a shame, but with the explosion of streaming and the way we access our music/entertainment, the long-standing tradition of podcasting is likely going to get caught-up in the crossfire.
Keep in mind, Party Favorz has always maintained a low profile and has a limited scope and while I don't mind picking up new followers (this past week about 20 more signed up), I'm not looking to expand into some big money-making venture nor profit off of other folks intellectual property.  I do this for the love of all things house music and enjoy sharing that love with folks (like yourselves) who appreciate my passion.
I haven't determined the time and costs to get everything switched over but I'm at the point where I'm ready to dive in and take more control.  As a result, expect some delays in posting until I can get everything moved over.  How long that will take is unclear, so please be patient.

Boogie Nights

Party Favorz is kicking 2016 off with a couple of fresh sets featuring some of the HOTTEST FunkyDiscoHouseShit circulating the scene at the moment. This first set showcases a wide variety of sub-genres in house music that seamlessly blend one style to the next while keeping your toes tapping and ass shaking. Each hand-picked track is AAA rated and contains absolutely 0% filler.
I want to give a HUGE shout out to the gracious Sanny X, who not only recently graced us with the awesome tribute set to one of my all-time favorite artists (David Bowie) but has just dropped a spectacular re-work of the disco classic Dance Little Lady Dance by Tina Charles.  As an ardent lover of all things disco, I've never given a whole lot of consideration to this song as anything more than a major label (Columbia/Sony) trying to capitalize on a trend. However, Sanny X strips all of the instrumentation from the original and lays down a really deep Nile Rogers inspired groove behind the track, which truly makes the original shine while showcasing Tina's amazing vocals and presenting the song in a whole new light.
