EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

DJ Barry Harris Dance Tribute Mix Volume 1
Saturday Nov 26, 2016
Saturday Nov 26, 2016
Since parting ways with Thunderpuss in 2003, a powerhouse DJ duo he co-founded with Cris Cox, DJ Barry Harris took a hiatus from the commercial remix and production scene for nearly a decade. But the industry legend made a grand comeback in 2014, methodically re-establishing his prominence with an array of original remixes, nostalgic reimaginings, and contemporary mashups.
His renewed career kicked off with original mixes like "Party 'Round the World" featuring Jason Dottley and Debbie Holiday. He also revisited classic hits, offering his take on Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and even revitalized Thunderpuss-era favorites like Tamia's "Stranger in My House." But Barry Harris didn't stop at revisiting the past; he also proved his relevance with bootleg mashups of current chart-toppers, blending Justin Bieber's "Sorry" with Madonna's track of the same name, and fusing Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" with Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSle92KKMyQ
Soon enough, major labels took notice. They not only gave their blessing to his bootleg remixes but also started commissioning him for official mixes for contemporary artists like Sia, Calvin Harris, and Ellie Goulding. His remix of Adele's epic hit "Hello" further cemented his status as a go-to remixer for a new wave of club aficionados, setting a standard for how remixing should be done today.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PDrzaXWvRk
Here at Party Favorz, we've consistently spotlighted DJ Barry Harris's work, recognizing him as one of our preferred DJs of the current moment—a moment that has impressively extended, thanks to his prolific output. What sets him apart from other high-volume remixers like Almighty, 7th Heaven, and Tiësto, is his authenticity: Barry Harris is his own "ghost remixer," personally crafting every project that bears his name.
Barry Harris's gift for reinvigorating his past triumphs while deftly adapting to contemporary musical landscapes is nothing short of awe-inspiring. His steady stream of new work signals not just a revival, but a career that promises to influence dance music for years to come.
In celebration of his enduring impact and continual evolution, Party Favorz is proud to honor DJ Barry Harris with this deserving tribute set. We look forward to grooving to his beats in 2017 and beyond.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Good Times | Trash Disco Megamix
Wednesday Nov 23, 2016
Wednesday Nov 23, 2016
Welcome to the final installment of the Trash Disco series. 'Good Times' had been put on hold due to the remaining songs not being cohesive enough to stitch together.
With some recent releases I picked up at JunoDownload, I was able to put the last nail in the genre-defying category that is DISCO. By no means is this even close to complete but the eight sets that make up this series are a damn good start to sink your teeth into and make for one helluva throwback party.
I pulled in the remaining Chic classics, ensuring that Nile Rodgers and company were well represented throughout. This last set also leans heavily on its sister decade the 80's. The catchy and sophisticated 'Saturday Love' by Cherrelle, Dr. Packer's updated Gwen Guthrie classic 'Ain't Nothing Going On but the Rent' and the down and dirty funk of Lakeside's epic 'Fantastic Voyage' stitch the seams of this bulging set of disco gems from the 70's.
In an effort to control bots and certain elements of society from draining my server and bandwidth, I've implemented a registration and login requirement for Party Favorz. I'm good at digging into the numbers and have zoned in on certain individuals and countries that are like vampires. If this doesn't slow them down, I'll roll out full blocks by next month.
I've also updated the site icon and logo that leaves behind the grunge rendering that was so three years ago, in favor of a cleaner and modernized look. I know it's hard to get too excited about, but I spent several days designing and putting this together. Let me know what you think.
Finally, I've set up ALL of the categories (DANCE, Circuit, Funky House, etc.) as their own separate entity in iTunes. For instance, if you only come here for Classic House and Divas you can subscribe to just those and they'll download into their own individual folder. If you love everything but want to keep it all separate so you can easily visit it based on your mood; subscribing to each category individually will create an individual folder for each.
Then again, some folks like the element of surprise, in which case subscribing to the main feed is fine. You can find and subscribe to all the categories in iTunes at Podcasts By Party Favorz. How cool is that? [brushes off dust from shoulder, hmmph.]
As we edge into the Thanksgiving holiday, I want everyone to be thankful for at least one thing and putting Party Favorz at the top of that list would be an excellent suggestion [grin].
I'll be back soon with a Black Friday 2 for 1 special. Until then ...ENJOY!

Into the Deep [vol. 3]
Saturday Nov 19, 2016
Saturday Nov 19, 2016
As promised, I'm back and digging in deeper and darker with 'Into the Deep [vol. 3]'.
This set kicks off with the deceptively delicious 'Things We Might Have Said' by Cari Golden feat. Reinier Zonneveld. The track is a slow-burner with it's light pulsating synth that builds with the anticipation of release only to resume a steady low-key beat. Climax never arrives, rendering the listener with a serious case of blue-balls.
We quickly move into the 90's prog-classic 'Plastic Dreams' by Jaydee that was the forerunner for the alt-progressive house movement. Coupled with Groove Armada's 'Superstylin', which echos another 90's era classic 'Born Slippy' by Underworld, the two songs compliment each other perfectly but don't lay out the direction of the overall set.
To keep you rooted in the here and now, the set transitions into several house tunes (on dark tip) that add illumination and prevent listeners from sliding into the abyss.
By the end, 'Into the Deep' begins to transition back to where it began before closing the set out on a very uplifting positive note with 'White Keys' by Redondo & Deepme making the overall journey worth the trip.
I have a very special Tribute set dropping later this week and am trying to see if I have enough time to squeak out a BackSpin request from long ago. No promises on that one.
Expect the long-delayed EDM now DANCE set, which will be this year's 'Jingle Electric' followed by the annual 'Holiday Edition' the week after. I am a man of many talents; so walking and chewing gum at the same time is second nature to me. It's not uncommon for me to be working on multiple sets simultaneously.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. Until the next time...ENJOY!

Friday Nov 18, 2016
OMFG, Party Favorz is back and on a mission!
On a mission to bring you the finest Dance, Circuit and Funky House that you never knew you wanted until you heard it. We've got a lot in store between now and the end of the year, so pay very close attention to this space.
Kicking off our return from the abyss is Open All Night, which is a culmination of the finest soulful, funky and disco house beats circulating in clubland at the moment.
The set starts off with a clip from the Netflix series 'Narcos'. It quickly launches into a Jimmy 'Bo' Horne Spanking groove of 'Bring The Funk' by Fabio Montana & Freiboitar that will have you shaking your ass right out of the gate. Georgie Porgie delivers the follow-up with a sweet if not uncharacteristically groovy sax house number with the sorely M.I.A. Suzanne Palmer delivering a sweltering scat throughout on 'Blow Your Sax'.
The set transitions into some soulful disco house before launching back into its disco roots with the Sylvester inspired 'Make and Feel'. From there it alternates between disco, house, and funk with James Brown closing things out in Babert's 'Sex Machine'. All the elements are in place for your late night grooving pleasure.
Tomorrow, I'll be diving into the deep end of the pool to cap off your weekend. Until then, ENJOY!

Crystal Waters | The Diva Series
Thursday Nov 17, 2016
Thursday Nov 17, 2016
It was the summer of 1991 when my ex, Eddie, and I traveled to New York. This was my first trip to the Big Apple, though he had been many times. It was the era of Mayor Dinkins and Times Square was a shell of its current glory or, pretty much a shit hole laced with drugs, prostitutes, and porn theaters.
One of the most memorable moments when we landed was "Gypsy Woman' blaring out the speakers in our cab heading to Manhattan. I had never heard it as it didn't sound like typical Top 40 fare. Its catchy house beat, and organ grinder riff with the artist singing "la da dee, la dee da" made it one of those songs that just stuck in my head as Eddie and I romped around the city waiting for our friend Margie to get off work. The artist was newcomer Crystal Waters.
The following evening, Eddie and I were on our own, and in a sign of poor judgment (or naiveté about New York at night during this period), we hopped on a train at midnight and headed toward the Village to go to a club called Monster that had been recommended to us earlier in the day. Eddie had to pee, so we got off in Times Square only to find the restrooms closed at that time of night. So he had to do a quicky behind some pillars. The subway station was dark, dank, and very eery. A stranger was walking towards us while I hurried him along to finish his business. The next train shows up and we were out of there!
Once we got to the Monster we walked in at street level and were introduced to a massive piano bar with folks singing along to old Olivia Newton-John songs. We went through the doors in the back and down a narrow stairwell that opens up into a basement club full of gay men dancing to the latest house music. Once 'Gypsy Woman' started playing from the speakers, I grabbed Eddie's hand and we ran onto the dance floor and didn't leave most of the night (except to grab the occasional drink).
Margie later chastised us for wandering off and even worse stopping in Times Square after midnight without accompaniment. Okay, yelled.
Gypsy Woman is packed with so many memories from our trip it that is one of the most memorable highlights of my life.
Gypsy Woman was originally written for Ultra Nate (another Diva Hall of Fame inductee held in very high esteem around here). Crystal's original demo never made it into her hands and in true DIVA form, she kept it for herself. To be fair, her demo was so good that it won her a recording contract with Mercury Records. The song itself reached #8 on the Top 40 and #1 on the club charts.
Crystal went on to land another Top 40 hit with '100% Pure Love' which peaked at #11 and stayed on the Hot 100 charts for a record-breaking 45 weeks. It also landed at the top of the Billboard Dance/Club charts along with 'Makin' Happy' 'Come on Down' 'My Time' 'Oh Mama Hey' and most very recently 'Believe.'
Crystal Waters is HOUSE MUSIC and more than deserving to be included in the Diva Hall of Fame with contemporaries like Barbara Tucker, Ultra Nate, and Martha Wash.
It is for these reasons and others too numerous to mention, that Crystal Waters officially be inducted into the Diva Hall of Fame.
With much love and respect, Party Favorz honors Crystal with our highest level of excellence. Thank you for the memories.
Donate and keep the party going!

Halloween Edition 2K16 Volume 2
Saturday Oct 22, 2016
Saturday Oct 22, 2016
I'm back with part two of the Halloween Edition and yada, yada, yada. One thing I do want you folks to pay attention to is Manuel Riva & Eneli - Mhm Mhm (Silver Bluff Remix). This is my go to song of the moment. I'm torn between two versions for the upcoming EDM set of the Halloween Edition and not doubt a more stripped down laid-back version will make it onto my next Mixtape in November. That's how freaking good this song is and is worth your time to hunt down the original and give these guys some big-ass support by streaming or purchasing their song. I want to see this shit ride up the iTunes and Billboard charts, even if it's a sleeper.
To be honest, because of the more late night aspect of this set, it really doesn't fit in but I'm too drained to remove it and I really do like it that much. Everything else, speaks for itself and is what you come to expect from my circuit sets.
Now that I've calmed down a bit...I'll be pulling a Michael Jackson (not that I already haven't been) working day and night (reference from his debut album if you don't get it) to get the EDM set out to you folks in-time for Halloween. I still haven't even gone through and sorted nor tagged all the songs to be used. So, I've got my work cut out for me.
I'll be back before Friday this next week, I promise. Until then ...ENJOY!

Halloween Edition 2K16 Volume 1
Wednesday Oct 19, 2016
Wednesday Oct 19, 2016
If you're as sick and disgusted with this election campaign as I am, I've got the cure to take your mind off of this fucked-up hot mess.
The 2K16 Halloween Edition is fraught with big tribal beats that get to the heart of your upcoming escapism on the 31st. Ah yes; Halloween the time we all let our hair down and just be whatever our little-perverted minds can conjure up. Folks, it's just fantasy so have some fun with it.
I had so many great songs, I went ahead and split this puppy up into two sets. The first starts off strong but definitely early evening when the boys are just filtering into the club and getting their groove on. You'll notice it really starts moving towards peak hour by the end, setting up the peak-hour set to follow tomorrow.
I've been cleaning out a lot of clutter on the back-end of the site, so you may notice some images missing from posts. It's just that I had 20,000+ images in a whole variety of useless sizes generated from years of varying themes. This has been a time-consuming process but well worth it as the site already feels much lighter and moves much more smoothly.
I've also gathered up your requests for navigation and improvements and have implemented every request to make access easier on your mobile phone or tablet. Now, it's all going to be about speed. So if you notice a little lagging over the weekend, just realize it's me working in the background to get this site the best it can be.
I've also made changes to the subscription plans but never fear; as long as you maintain the one you have; you're grandfathered in. However, if you drop it and come back later, it will no longer be available to you.

Spice Girls | The Diva Series
Tuesday Oct 18, 2016
Tuesday Oct 18, 2016
Over the decades, there have been plenty of girl groups that wrangled the public's attention. The Supremes or Diana Ross & the Supremes as they were known in the waning years of the 60s were the reigning queens out of a multitude of girl groups. The 70s were a decade of obsolescence for the girls, while the 80s began the uptick with Bananarama, Expose, the Go-Gos, and the Bangles.
Once the 90s rolled around, girl groups were all the fashion with massively successful SWV, En Vogue, TLC, and Salt 'n' Pepa taking up the girl group rap mantle.
However, the most successful girl group of that decade was the Spice Girls. The original lineup consisted of Melanie Brown/Mel B."Scary Spice," Melanie Chisholm/Melanie C."Sporty Spice," Emma Bunton "Baby Spice," Geri Halliwell "Ginger Spice," and Victoria Beckham "Posh Spice." The marketing of individual personalities in the form of spice, with each reflecting a different type of woman, was pure marketing genius.
In 1996, the brand (yes, it was a brand) became a global phenomenon with their debut single Wannabe, which reached number one in 37 countries. The Spice Girls went on to sell 80 million records worldwide and had a global franchise worth $500-800 million between 1996-1998.
In May 1998, Geri Halliwell announced her departure from the group citing "differences" not necessarily artistic or personality differences, just "differences." By the end of 2000, the Spice Girls announced they would be going on indefinite status, effectively breaking up.
In 2008, all five Spice Girls reunited for a greatest hits album and tour.
Spice Girls are the most successful girl group of all time and have even recently announced a reunion that includes Mel B, Baby Spice, and Geri Halliwell. With two of the original ingredients missing, this reunion feels a little flat.
The Diva Series honors all five ladies' best work including Geri Halliwell and, Melanie C's solo singles; arguably the most successful members as solo artists.
Let's give it up for the ladies as Party Favorz lovingly inducts them into the Diva Hall of Fame.

Patti LaBelle | The Diva Series
Friday Sep 23, 2016
Friday Sep 23, 2016
Miss Patti LaBelle was the moving force behind the 70s Soul group LaBelle and their signature song Lady Marmalade made them international superstars. Patti's powerful vocals made her a standout in the group (though they subsequently reformed in the 90s) as she eventually went solo with a sustained and successful career that has lasted decades.
From Gospel and Ballads (The Best Is Yet to Come, On My Own) and Disco (Music Is My Way of Life) to 80's pop (New Attitude, Stir It Up) and 90s R&B/House (Turn It Out, Shoe on the Other Foot, When You Talk about Love) the woman is a force to be reckoned with.
I'm sorry that I cannot spend more time providing accolades to Miss Patti, but I just literally escaped a two-day nightmare from Emory (world-renowned hospital) with my IV still embedded yesterday and just saw my PCP who has now gotten me a bed at a neighboring hospital which he is affiliated. Long story, but I'm not in the best of shape these days.
I just wanted to make sure I got this out since it's been complete for a couple of weeks now and let's face it, WHO DOESN'T LOVE PATTI? I'll slap you down if you say you don't because you haven't listened to this magnificent representation (albeit limited) of her contributions to house music.
Without further ado, Party Favorz is thrilled to induct Miss Patti LaBelle into the Diva Hall of Fame.

Bette Midler | Divine Miss M | The Diva Series
Saturday Sep 17, 2016

Bette Midler has been on my shortlist of inductions into the Diva Hall of Fame for a very long time and for a good reason. I've been hoping and praying she might release an album of all-new material, which would generate new remixes for inclusion in a comprehensive set featuring the Divine Miss M.
While no such album has materialized, she still records and tours. Lately, much of her focus has been on classics, which frankly showcase her amazing vocal elasticity. From the aforementioned classics (50's, 60's, you name it) to rock, house, ballads, and yes even disco (I've got a rare remastered recording you're going to be tickled pink over included), there ain't nothing this woman can't tackle.
Bette is a Grammy, Emmy, Golden Globe winner, and Oscar nominee for best actress in one of my all-time favorite movies The Rose (she was robbed of the Oscar IMHO), and is a well-known NYC green/environmental activist. Then there is Beaches, a movie we gay folk hold near and dear to our hearts. If you've never seen it, you can keep your gay card as long as you do but also keep a box of Kleenex by your side because you're gonna need it.
From Broadway and bathhouses to sold-out comedy tours and concerts, there isn't anything the woman hasn't accomplished in life. Well, maybe one. Girlfriend, you and Cher need to hook up and do a duet, movie, or something. You both complement each other perfectly, so we'll just throw that on our bucket list and bow down to the DIVA goddess' and hope they answer our prayers (fingers crossed).
This set was fairly easy to put together and after a request from one of my longtime followers, I decided now was the time. Marshall, this one's for you. ENJOY!

EDM Sessions | Fall 2016
Saturday Sep 10, 2016
Saturday Sep 10, 2016
As you may be able to tell from the Party Favorz release schedule this week, I'm trying get everybody in the Fall mood by putting out early releases of the three core genres (House, Circuit and EDM) from the site.
The Fall 2016 EDM Sessions completes that trifecta ensuring you have more than enough to fuel the next couple weeks of your leisure time. That being said, let's get right into it.
We kick things off with a couple of new remixes for earlier hits. Flume's Never Be Like You was a slow burner through the summer but most of that was due to very poor official remixes on its initial release. Once the bootleggers got on board, great remixes began to appear. I've been all over Ariana's Into You since its release, though I don't think this did as well at radio as it probably should have but I love it just the same.
Lady GaGa's Perfect Illusion is what held up the post this morning. To be honest, I don't think this song is a strong candidate for an initial release off of her forthcoming album. I just can't get into the original version as there's nothing there to reel me in. The early mixes fare better and at least provide some muscle behind the track. Regardless, I think this song will struggle to make it into the Billboard Top 10 and will likely sink fast if it's that lucky. I am not a GaGa hater but I'm keeping the faith that her album will be far better than this initial release.
Barry Harris who is regularly featured in my Circuit sets has been doing some equally stellar remixes that perform better under the EDM genre. They are catchy, upbeat with the same pop sensibility he uses in all of his mixes but without that whole tribalistic feel. For that reason, I'll start including some of his stuff here instead of the Circuit sets. In this case, his take on the massive Closer by Chainsmokers and his brilliant upbeat version of This Girl by Kings vs. Cookin' on 3 Burners really shine within the confines of this set. Personally, I think it's time the major labels start giving him a serious look because he's setting the gold standard for what electro-pop-dance should be.
JES is back and in a BIG way. One of the queens of Trance and very well respected DJ in her own right, teams up with Tom Fall in what is certain to be her next number one Billboard club hit. Come Back could be considered exactly that. It's been several years since her number one remake of the Cure's Love Song, so we welcome her back into the clubs.
I don't really follow artists and their ups and downs or disappearances, but it's apparent Craig David has been M.I.A. for some time now. Well folks, he's back with the Sigala produced Ain't Giving Up and his vocals are as pure as ever, while the song is pure catchy-house bliss. If this fails at radio and in the clubs then there is something seriously wrong with programmers.
I'll finally be taking the two weeks off that I was denied in late August due to circumstances beyond my control. No worries because if subscribers have an issue, be sure to reach out to me through the contact section of the site so I can help resolve any problems you may be experiencing.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and as always ...ENJOY!

Fall Edition 2016

The mornings may be getting a bit cooler but the days are still sweltering up in the 90's. After another summer that beat record-breaking temperatures from 2015, don't tell me there isn't global warming.
The good news from this hot mess, is that the circuit beats keep getting equally as hot as Party Favorz presents the 2016 Fall Edition.
We kick things off with the Danny Verde progressive remix of Boys Like You by Who Is Fancy, who with some big names behind him (Scooter Braun and Dr. Luke) managed to rope in Meghan Trainor & Ariana Grande for additional vocal duties. The end result is a fun romp through camp that only WIF could pull off. Expect to be hearing this A LOT in clubs and circuit events this fall.
The heat quickly builds up into a massive mashup with the infamous Lula in the mix before moving into the head-turning remix of Alicia Keys latest In Common. Barry Harris totally flips the script on this slow burner making it a cross between big-time Ibiza vs. tribal while throwing in a bit of George Kranz (Din Daa Daa) into the mix. I was totally blown away the minute I heard this; that is until we get to one of Barry's original mashups below.
I am such a HUGE fan of Betty Who's remake of I Love You Always Forever, I was pleased to find out Toy Armada & DJ Grind remixed the song. With their big room sweeping sound, it just fits so perfectly it should have the boys singing along in unity.
Currently, we have competing remakes of the Lovestation classic Teardrops running up the Billboard club charts by Cole Plante and Dawn Tallman. Both are equally good but Dawn gets the edge in that it's well... Dawn. We don't have a big room circuit-styled remix from her yet but I predict we will.
In the meantime, Cole does an outstanding job with remixes by Chris Cox and Toy Armada & DJ Grind. He plays with the lyrics a bit to make them more suitable for a male singer, but there is no mistaking the classic seeds of the original.
Skylar Stecker delivers a worthy remake of the Eurythmics' classic Sweet Dreams (#1 Billboard Club Dance a week ago) and Bent Collective (a.k.a. Steve Redant and Danny Verde) churn out a release for Swishcraft Get Up Stand Up. While I prefer the original, for the sake of cohesiveness I went with the more progressive mix by Louis Lennon, which scales back the vocals much to my dismay.
Now, we get to one of Barry Harris' shiniest moments in circuit history. I guess a little musical education may be in order for those of you not old enough to appreciate the songs used in his mashup; so here it goes:
Musique was a last minute throw-together by Bob Blank of four women (Jocelyn Brown, Angela Howell, Gina Tharps and Christine Wiltshire) of which Jocelyn Brown went on to greater things and became an artist in her own right. The four-song EP they released in 1978 was titled Keep on Jumpin'. The lead single, In the Bush (which is utilized extensively through Push) stalled on the top 40 due to it's uhh, rather sexual nature but still reached number one on the Billboard Disco Charts. In fact, the second single Keep on Jumpin' also reached number one on the disco charts and again in the 90's when Todd Terry enlisted Jocelyn Brown and Martha Wash to perform a new house version of the song.
Are you ready? Are you ready for this?
Do you like it? Do you like it like this?
Push, push in the bush.
I used to keep up with all the pop songs and remember this one being played at local radio. In sixth grade, I was sexually naive (except for masturbating) and had written the lyrics down and passed them to a girlfriend in one of my classes. That note, was intercepted by Sister Phyllis (I attended parochial school) and was chastised after class for writing such garbage. I was embarrassed but didn't know exactly what for. Sister Phyllis was a large burly woman known for beating the crap out of her students when they misbehaved but I skirted that by attempting to explain what it was I had written.
