Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.

Thursday Jul 23, 2015
We've come to the grand finale, the closing chapter in our monumental tribute to dance music legend Hex Hector. Curating this sprawling 8-volume series was a Herculean task, not just because of the sheer volume of Hector's work, but because of the collaborative genius that often powered it. One collaborator who can't be ignored is Mac Quayle.
Mac Quayle, a Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist and now a prolific Hollywood score composer, has been an invaluable creative partner to Hex Hector. They've churned out some unforgettable mixes together, shaping the very fabric of the dance floor anthems we adore. From Gloria Estefan's "Don't Let This Moment End" to Toni Braxton's "Hit The Freeway," their collaborative essence can be felt. Kudos, Mac Quayle, your contribution is immeasurable.
Even as we reach the pinnacle of this series with volume 8, it's crucial to note that what you've heard barely scratches the surface of Hex Hector's prolific career. This set features everything from Billboard chart-toppers to lesser-known gems like the Whigfield classic Saturday Night a collaboration with Darrin Friedman or Wake Up by legendary gospel singer Dawn Tallman.
As we approach the end, brace yourselves for two mega-hits that have left an indelible mark on the dance music landscape: Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" and Celine Dion's "I Drove All Night." These tracks aren't just colossal; they're era-defining, testaments to Hector's undeniable impact on the industry.
If you've followed along and still feel something's missing—well, consider that an invitation. Dive into Hex Hector's extensive discography and craft your own tribute mix. With a catalog as expansive as Hector's during his peak, trust us, there's plenty to discover.

Stevie Nicks | The Diva Series
Wednesday Jul 22, 2015
Wednesday Jul 22, 2015
Party Favorz is switching gears to DIVA mode with a new induction into the Diva Hall of Fame for the one (trust) and only Stevie Nicks. Stevie rose to fame in the 1970s as part of the group Fleetwood Mac. The group had been together since the late 60s but it wasn't until Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie were brought into the fold (around 1975) that they began to have their biggest success. Stevie penned tunes like Landslide, Rihannon, Dreams, Sara, and Gypsy were some of the most magical moments for the band.
There was always this allure or mystery about Stevie, which became further instilled in her personality once she went solo and released her first album, Bella Donna. That album spurred multiple top ten hits like Stop Draggin' My Heart Around (with Tom Petty), Edge of Seventeen, and Leather and Lace (with Don Henley) and solidified Stevie's reputation as a singer/songwriter that could hold her own without the backup.
With each subsequent album release, her mystique became more central to her identity and we grew more and more entranced by her allure. I know I'm not the only one that has fixated on her because I know a lot of folks that are just flat-out in love with her and her music.
While Stevie doesn't necessarily fit into the "dance diva" mode, some of her music has been remixed for her fans. Some of it is official, while others are not. I took the best of the bootlegs and intertwined them with the official releases. Though not very long, I'm confident that her fans will love what I've managed to put together in honor of this enigmatic Sister of the Moon.
Party Favorz recognizes the substantial work of Stevie Nicks and honors her with an official induction into the Diva Hall of Fame.

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 7
Wednesday Jul 22, 2015
Wednesday Jul 22, 2015
As we near the grand finale of our Hex Hector tribute series, Volume 7 is designed to satisfy the die-hard fans of this remix maestro. This installment presents a diverse array of Hex Hector's work, from chart-dominating hits to those hidden gems that truly deserved more time in the limelight.
Starting off with Everything But The Girl's "Temperamental," remixed in collaboration with Mac Quayle, the set instantly sets a mood. This track has a special place for me, prompting those rare moments of introspective reflection. Hex and Quayle's treatment of the song offers a nuanced depth, letting you tap into your inner musings while you dance.
Diana Ross's classic "I Will Survive" makes an appearance in this set, proving that Hex's magic touch can elevate even the most iconic of tracks. It's a bold move to tackle a song of such stature, but Hex pulls it off, reimagining it while honoring its essence.
For those who like a dash of nostalgia, Mandy Moore's "Candy" is transformed into a dance floor must-play. The innocence and youthful vibe of the original find new layers under Hex Hector's creative direction, making it a compelling experience.
Mikaila's "So In Love With Two" is another intriguing inclusion. Not a track that everyone may be familiar with, but it showcases Hex's ability to dig deep and turn any song into a dance hit.
While these mixes include some of his well-known classics, the set also delves into lesser-known tracks like the ultra-rare "Relax" by Mika. Some of these tracks may have been minor club hits, but that doesn't make them any less worthy of a spot in this playlist. A couple of them even soared to the top of the Billboard Dance Club charts, proving that Hex's influence isn't just felt in the most popular of hits, but also in the deeper cuts that only true enthusiasts might know.
So, as we gear up for the final installment of this Hex Hector Mixology series, Volume 7 serves as a special gift to his most devoted fans. If your favorite track hasn't shown up yet, don't worry. There's still one more chance for it to make an appearance.

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 6
Tuesday Jul 21, 2015
Tuesday Jul 21, 2015
In the dynamic world of dance music, some names are simply unforgettable, and Hex Hector stands among them. As we roll out Volume 6 in our tribute series to this remixing legend, we've handpicked another playlist filled with his top hits, showcasing his incredible talent for redefining classics and igniting dance floors.
Hex Hector’s skills were initially honed in the club scenes of New York, with legendary stints at iconic venues like the Tunnel and the Limelight. His craftsmanship eventually propelled him to win the Grammy for Remixer of the Year in 2001. And speaking of Grammys, let's not forget paradigm-shifting remix of Whitney Houston's "I Learned From The Best," by HQ2 a masterstroke in balancing emotive vocals with danceable beats. Houston’s emotive intensity gets a whole new canvas to shine on in this high energy remix, and the result is nothing short of transformative.
But the Grammy-recognized talents don't end there. Hector gave us a riveting version of Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart," a remix (with Soul Solution) that redefined the emotional ballad into an upbeat, heart-pounding anthem. It's like he took Braxton’s heartache and converted it into raw dance energy.
Hex also has a penchant for unveiling hidden gems in songs lesser-known to the masses. Just look at his twist on "Girl From the Gutter" by Kina. Hector manages to up the ante on the song's original intensity, proving once again that his remixes are not just mere reinterpretations but are, more often than not, upgrades.
While perusing my music collection, I stumbled upon "I've Had Enough" by Regina Belle—truthfully, a track I wasn't even familiar with. But it's Hex Hector; how could I not give it a listen? Trust me, it's a reminder that even in the less-charted territories of your playlist, Hex's remixes serve as musical gems worth discovering.
And let's not overlook his remix of "Stranger In My House" by Tamia. The song serves as another testament to Hector’s genius, as he magically turns Tamia's vocal curiosity into an absolute club banger.
There are few artists who can not only survive but thrive in the evolving world of dance music, maintaining both relevance and reverence. Hex Hector is undeniably one of them. His work, laden with nostalgia yet tinged with fresh beats, shows us exactly why he's an industry titan.
We've got two more captivating volumes coming up in this Hex Hector series, so if your go-to mix hasn't appeared yet, stay tuned. There’s much more still to come.

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 5
Monday Jul 20, 2015
Monday Jul 20, 2015
The fifth chapter in our Hex Hector tribute series is an absolute treasure trove of dance anthems. Trust me, picking favorites here feels almost sacrilegious when the list is stacked with wall-to-wall classics.
From Jennifer Lopez's "Waiting for Tonight" — which Hex won a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for his transformative take on the track — to Whitney Houston's soulful collaboration "Heartbreak Hotel" featuring Faith Evans & Kelly Price, it's evident Hex Hector's talents know no bounds.
Let's not forget other gems in this fifth volume. Deborah Cox's "Absolutely Not" and Donna Summer's "I Will Go With You (Con Te Partiró)" capture the very essence of Hex Hector's knack for crafting infectious, foot-stomping beats. Anastacia's "I'm Outta Love" and Aubrey's "Stand Still" are more examples of Hector's deft touch, taking already great tracks and turning them into club anthems.

Stars on 54 (Ultra Naté, Amber, and Jocelyn Enriquez) also make an appearance with "If You Could Read My Mind," a tune many will remember from the movie and soundtrack "54" or the Viola Willis Disco version from 1980 or maybe even the original singer songwriter Gordon Lightfoot version that hit #5 on the pop charts in 1971. It just shows that no matter the genre, a good song is a good song.

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 4
Saturday Jul 18, 2015
Saturday Jul 18, 2015
For our fourth installment celebrating the ingenious work of Hex Hector, it would be remiss not to highlight the significant contributions of his frequent collaborator, Mac Quayle. The partnership between these two icons was nothing short of transformative for the dance music scene. Often released under the label HQ2, their collaborations brought a unique fusion of sounds that were as emotionally resonant as they were irresistibly danceable.
What set the Hex Hector and Mac Quayle partnership apart was a shared vision for reimagining the emotional core of a song. Take, for instance, Madonna's "Music." The original version was already an anthem in its own right, but under the deft hands of HQ2, it morphed into something extraordinary—keeping the dance floor packed while adding another layer of interpretative depth to the already iconic track.
Similarly, their take on Donna Summer's "Love On & On" pays homage to the Queen of Disco's enduring legacy. Hex and Mac captured the eternal vibrance of Summer's vocals while infusing the track with contemporary electronic elements. It was a testament to the duo's ability to honor the original artist's intent while incorporating a fresh, uplifting vibe, which explains why their remixes often stood the test of time.
Mac Quayle's prowess isn't limited to dance anthems; he's expanded his talents into scoring TV shows and movies. Emmy-award-winning projects like "Mr. Robot" bear testament to his range and ability to set the mood through music. His success in Hollywood doesn't diminish his legacy in dance music; rather, it enriches it, showing how versatile and multitalented he is as a musician.
One more exceptional tune in this Hex Hector tribute mix is Angie Stone's "Wish I Didn't Miss You." Though many of their collaborations foresaked the HQ2 moniker in favor of their names, this track exemplifies the same kind of emotional storytelling through music that Hector and Quayle championed. It serves as a powerful reminder that whether alone or as part of a dynamic duo, Hex Hector's influence looms large in the world of dance music.
So, as we continue to relish in the Hex Hector Tribute Mix, let's also give a nod to the incredible artists and collaborators like Mac Quayle who have made this journey through the world of remixes so enthralling.

Ah, the evocative power of music—especially when we're talking about the sonic wizardry of Hex Hector. For those of you following along, I trust you're just as enthralled by this tribute as I am. Hex Hector has been the alchemist behind so many unforgettable tracks that it's easy to lose count. But today, I want to zone in on some personal gems that have stood out in this remarkable set.
First, let's talk about Reina's "Find Another Woman" and Lisa Stansfield's "I'm Leavin'." Both songs, under the masterful touch of Hex Hector, evolve into pulsating dance anthems that possess the power to revive even the dreariest of dance floors. Hex Hector has this innate ability to infuse an unparalleled level of energy into tracks, elevating them to such heights that they often outshine the originals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTHGA8Ewl1g
But it's not just the well-known tracks that deserve attention. Hidden among these gems are surprise mixes that had slipped my memory but are just as enjoyable. Case in point: Sherrie Lea's "Anyway," Purple Kitty featuring Latanza Waters' "Bang On," and Joy Enriquez's "Shake Up the Party." While these tracks may not have been ingrained in our collective consciousness, they hit different when given the Hex Hector treatment. It's akin to discovering a hidden treasure chest; you may not have been actively searching for it, but once found, it brings immeasurable joy.
What makes Hex Hector truly stand out as a remixer is his incredible versatility. His work transcends genre boundaries, effortlessly navigating between house, trance, and even pop, while always retaining a unique touch that can only be described as 'Hex Hector-esque.' His musical prowess is felt not just in the mega hits, but also in the lesser-known tracks that benefit from his transformative powers.
So, if you're already captivated by this Hex Hector extravaganza, take heart—this isn't the end. There's still one more awe-inspiring sets to come, which promises to be as exhilarating as the ones we've already experienced. As we all know, Hex Hector is an artist who consistently delivers, and it's this consistency that makes each revelation from his repertoire a joyous occasion.

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 2
Tuesday Jul 14, 2015
Tuesday Jul 14, 2015
From the pulsating underground clubs of New York to the glamorous international stage, Hex Hector has been a transformative force in dance music. If you're wondering where the king of club anthems has been, let me tell you: after electrifying crowds throughout the early '90s, Hex took a detour into the studio. For a decade, he was like a master alchemist, converting tracks into gold hits with that deep, sexy, underground sound that became his signature.
New York's iconic nightclubs like the Paradise Garage, the Roxy, and the Funhouse served as Hex's musical playgrounds, where he honed his craft. Inspired by radio legends like KISS-FM's Shep Pettibone, Hex quickly ascended the ranks. At the apex of his influence, he was a mainstay at famed venues such as the Tunnel, Limelight, Palladium, Sound Factory Bar, Nell’s, Club USA, and Danceteria. It was around this time that he crossed paths with Jennifer Lopez, a meeting that would later inspire his Grammy-winning remix of "Waiting for Tonight." *
Now, let's talk about some of the iconic tracks that have been graced by Hex's Midas touch. Songs like "Everyday" by Kim English and Toni Braxton's "Spanish Guitar" have taken on a new life with his unique remixes. Lara Fabian's "I Will Love Again," a timeless anthem for anyone navigating the aftermath of a short-term breakup, shines even brighter under Hex Hector's creative lens.
In our second installment celebrating Hex Hector's transformative influence on dance music, we've got a selection that encapsulates his genre-defining sound. For example, Shannon's "Give Me Tonight" adds that nostalgic flair to the set, making us long for those classic New York club nights. However, not all tracks are equally iconic. Case in point: O-Town's "Liquid Dreams." While it might not share the same acclaim as hits from the Backstreet Boys or N'Sync, Hex's remix gives it a fun, whimsical vibe that's irresistibly danceable.
It's clear that Hex Hector is not just a DJ or a remixer; he's a musical renaissance man. Despite all his accomplishments, which include a Grammy for Remixer of the Year in 2001, Hex maintains a relaxed and confident demeanor that makes his illustrious career appear almost effortless. It's like he's saying to the world, "Nice guys can, indeed, finish first."
So as we wrap up today's journey through Hex Hector's illustrious musical realm, remember that this is just part two. We'll be back on Thursday to dive deeper into his discography, celebrating the man who's been a beacon of innovation for dance music.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Amy Grant | The Diva Series
Tuesday Jul 14, 2015
Tuesday Jul 14, 2015
Earlier this year, the Grammy-winning C-Pop artist Amy Grant, released her first remix album of some of her biggest hits. For those of you not familiar with Amy, she was a massive Christian pop star in the 80s and in 1991 released her first crossover album Heart In Motion, which yielded five top 20 singles, two of which went to number one.
While I was never a particular fan of Amy until that album came out, I had a friend back in the day (the nicest guy you'll ever meet), who was a hard-core Christian and a massive fan. I can honestly say that's how I even knew who she was until HIM was released.
Without a doubt, her fan base has a huge gay following, and just by looking at the DJs that remixed her hits, it appears she covered almost all the bases with a list of who's who in the DJ community. Heck, she even got Hex Hector on board for one of the songs, which is rare these days.
Party Favorz would like to welcome Amy Grant to the DIVA HALL of FAME as a welcome addition to an already crowded field of diversity.

A journey through the dynamic scene of dance remixes is incomplete without encountering the legend that is Hex Hector. Starting with humble beginnings, the New York-based DJ and remixer rose to prominence by shaping the contours of the dance music scene for more than a decade. One of the most pivotal moments of his illustrious career was an early rejection that became a blessing in disguise.
Picture this: a young Hex Hector presents a remix of Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart" to music mogul Clive Davis, only to be met with skepticism. Clive suggests he work with Soul Solution instead. Unbeknownst to Hex at the time, this move would propel the remix into a massive gay anthem, setting the tone for a new era of progressive and tribal house music.
Fast forward two years later, and Davis approached Hector to work his magic on Deborah Cox's lead single off her sophomore album "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here." This turned out to be a pivotal moment that further solidified Hex Hector's standing in the realm of elite production remix DJs. Although he didn't receive top billing—his name was subtly tucked away in the liner credits—the impact of his work was anything but footnote material. The remix was a smash hit, serving as a testament to Hector's prowess in reimagining songs in a way that captured the audience's imagination while filling dance floors across the globe.
The monumental success of "Un-Break My Heart" and "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" coincided with a new generation of DJs that were taking dance floors to new heights providing fresh new sounds never heard before. Club 69's Peter Rauhofer, Victor Calderone, Thunderpuss, Junior Vasquez, and Jonathan Peters followed in Hex Hector's footsteps, incorporating a fresh, new progressive big room style into their remixes.
Now, let's delve into the Tribute to Hex Hector we've all been buzzing about. We scoured the expansive catalog of Hex's creations, paying meticulous attention to your favorite mixes while curating the ultimate dance experience. Contrary to Jason's belief (sorry, buddy), the absence of certain tracks doesn't detract from the overall quality of the setlist. While Hex's Wikipedia page does provide an exhaustive list, its reliability can sometimes be sketchy. If you want to verify the legitimacy of a particular remix, Discogs is your go-to resource.
Rather than truncate these gems, I let most of the tracks breathe, running their full course with only minor edits to their intros and outros. For fans of the divas like Deborah Cox, Toni Braxton and Whitney Houston, some of my mixshow edits can also be found in their respective Diva Series collections.
Each set in this tribute series is a pure distillation of Hex Hector's creative brilliance, but like you, I have my personal favorites. Melanie C's "I Turn To You," Ricky Martin's "She Bangs," and Sarah Brightman's haunting "Harem (Cançao do Mar)" resonate for myriad reasons. Solu Music's "Fade" featuring Kimblee is also a stand-out, blending perfectly into the Hex Hector mosaic we've pieced together.
The musical odyssey doesn't end here. We have a whopping seven more installments coming your way, ready to keep your feet moving and your soul grooving. So whether you're burning these sets to CDs or streaming them on your favorite platform, prepare for an exhilarating dance music experience that's the epitome of Hex Hector's enduring legacy.
Until the next time...ENJOY!
