EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 5
Monday Jul 20, 2015
Monday Jul 20, 2015
The fifth chapter in our Hex Hector tribute series is an absolute treasure trove of dance anthems. Trust me, picking favorites here feels almost sacrilegious when the list is stacked with wall-to-wall classics.
From Jennifer Lopez's "Waiting for Tonight" — which Hex won a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for his transformative take on the track — to Whitney Houston's soulful collaboration "Heartbreak Hotel" featuring Faith Evans & Kelly Price, it's evident Hex Hector's talents know no bounds.
Let's not forget other gems in this fifth volume. Deborah Cox's "Absolutely Not" and Donna Summer's "I Will Go With You (Con Te Partiró)" capture the very essence of Hex Hector's knack for crafting infectious, foot-stomping beats. Anastacia's "I'm Outta Love" and Aubrey's "Stand Still" are more examples of Hector's deft touch, taking already great tracks and turning them into club anthems.

Stars on 54 (Ultra Naté, Amber, and Jocelyn Enriquez) also make an appearance with "If You Could Read My Mind," a tune many will remember from the movie and soundtrack "54" or the Viola Willis Disco version from 1980 or maybe even the original singer songwriter Gordon Lightfoot version that hit #5 on the pop charts in 1971. It just shows that no matter the genre, a good song is a good song.

So as we gear up for the sixth installment tomorrow, let's savor Volume 5 and all the rich, energetic, and soulful mixes it has to offer. Until the next time...ENJOY!

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 4
Saturday Jul 18, 2015
Saturday Jul 18, 2015
For our fourth installment celebrating the ingenious work of Hex Hector, it would be remiss not to highlight the significant contributions of his frequent collaborator, Mac Quayle. The partnership between these two icons was nothing short of transformative for the dance music scene. Often released under the label HQ2, their collaborations brought a unique fusion of sounds that were as emotionally resonant as they were irresistibly danceable.
What set the Hex Hector and Mac Quayle partnership apart was a shared vision for reimagining the emotional core of a song. Take, for instance, Madonna's "Music." The original version was already an anthem in its own right, but under the deft hands of HQ2, it morphed into something extraordinary—keeping the dance floor packed while adding another layer of interpretative depth to the already iconic track.
Similarly, their take on Donna Summer's "Love On & On" pays homage to the Queen of Disco's enduring legacy. Hex and Mac captured the eternal vibrance of Summer's vocals while infusing the track with contemporary electronic elements. It was a testament to the duo's ability to honor the original artist's intent while incorporating a fresh, uplifting vibe, which explains why their remixes often stood the test of time.
Mac Quayle's prowess isn't limited to dance anthems; he's expanded his talents into scoring TV shows and movies. Emmy-award-winning projects like "Mr. Robot" bear testament to his range and ability to set the mood through music. His success in Hollywood doesn't diminish his legacy in dance music; rather, it enriches it, showing how versatile and multitalented he is as a musician.
One more exceptional tune in this Hex Hector tribute mix is Angie Stone's "Wish I Didn't Miss You." Though many of their collaborations foresaked the HQ2 moniker in favor of their names, this track exemplifies the same kind of emotional storytelling through music that Hector and Quayle championed. It serves as a powerful reminder that whether alone or as part of a dynamic duo, Hex Hector's influence looms large in the world of dance music.
So, as we continue to relish in the Hex Hector Tribute Mix, let's also give a nod to the incredible artists and collaborators like Mac Quayle who have made this journey through the world of remixes so enthralling.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 3

Ah, the evocative power of music—especially when we're talking about the sonic wizardry of Hex Hector. For those of you following along, I trust you're just as enthralled by this tribute as I am. Hex Hector has been the alchemist behind so many unforgettable tracks that it's easy to lose count. But today, I want to zone in on some personal gems that have stood out in this remarkable set.
First, let's talk about Reina's "Find Another Woman" and Lisa Stansfield's "I'm Leavin'." Both songs, under the masterful touch of Hex Hector, evolve into pulsating dance anthems that possess the power to revive even the dreariest of dance floors. Hex Hector has this innate ability to infuse an unparalleled level of energy into tracks, elevating them to such heights that they often outshine the originals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTHGA8Ewl1g
But it's not just the well-known tracks that deserve attention. Hidden among these gems are surprise mixes that had slipped my memory but are just as enjoyable. Case in point: Sherrie Lea's "Anyway," Purple Kitty featuring Latanza Waters' "Bang On," and Joy Enriquez's "Shake Up the Party." While these tracks may not have been ingrained in our collective consciousness, they hit different when given the Hex Hector treatment. It's akin to discovering a hidden treasure chest; you may not have been actively searching for it, but once found, it brings immeasurable joy.
What makes Hex Hector truly stand out as a remixer is his incredible versatility. His work transcends genre boundaries, effortlessly navigating between house, trance, and even pop, while always retaining a unique touch that can only be described as 'Hex Hector-esque.' His musical prowess is felt not just in the mega hits, but also in the lesser-known tracks that benefit from his transformative powers.
So, if you're already captivated by this Hex Hector extravaganza, take heart—this isn't the end. There's still one more awe-inspiring sets to come, which promises to be as exhilarating as the ones we've already experienced. As we all know, Hex Hector is an artist who consistently delivers, and it's this consistency that makes each revelation from his repertoire a joyous occasion.

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 2
Tuesday Jul 14, 2015
Tuesday Jul 14, 2015
From the pulsating underground clubs of New York to the glamorous international stage, Hex Hector has been a transformative force in dance music. If you're wondering where the king of club anthems has been, let me tell you: after electrifying crowds throughout the early '90s, Hex took a detour into the studio. For a decade, he was like a master alchemist, converting tracks into gold hits with that deep, sexy, underground sound that became his signature.
New York's iconic nightclubs like the Paradise Garage, the Roxy, and the Funhouse served as Hex's musical playgrounds, where he honed his craft. Inspired by radio legends like KISS-FM's Shep Pettibone, Hex quickly ascended the ranks. At the apex of his influence, he was a mainstay at famed venues such as the Tunnel, Limelight, Palladium, Sound Factory Bar, Nell’s, Club USA, and Danceteria. It was around this time that he crossed paths with Jennifer Lopez, a meeting that would later inspire his Grammy-winning remix of "Waiting for Tonight." *
Now, let's talk about some of the iconic tracks that have been graced by Hex's Midas touch. Songs like "Everyday" by Kim English and Toni Braxton's "Spanish Guitar" have taken on a new life with his unique remixes. Lara Fabian's "I Will Love Again," a timeless anthem for anyone navigating the aftermath of a short-term breakup, shines even brighter under Hex Hector's creative lens.
In our second installment celebrating Hex Hector's transformative influence on dance music, we've got a selection that encapsulates his genre-defining sound. For example, Shannon's "Give Me Tonight" adds that nostalgic flair to the set, making us long for those classic New York club nights. However, not all tracks are equally iconic. Case in point: O-Town's "Liquid Dreams." While it might not share the same acclaim as hits from the Backstreet Boys or N'Sync, Hex's remix gives it a fun, whimsical vibe that's irresistibly danceable.
It's clear that Hex Hector is not just a DJ or a remixer; he's a musical renaissance man. Despite all his accomplishments, which include a Grammy for Remixer of the Year in 2001, Hex maintains a relaxed and confident demeanor that makes his illustrious career appear almost effortless. It's like he's saying to the world, "Nice guys can, indeed, finish first."
So as we wrap up today's journey through Hex Hector's illustrious musical realm, remember that this is just part two. We'll be back on Thursday to dive deeper into his discography, celebrating the man who's been a beacon of innovation for dance music.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Amy Grant | The Diva Series
Tuesday Jul 14, 2015
Tuesday Jul 14, 2015
Earlier this year, the Grammy-winning C-Pop artist Amy Grant, released her first remix album of some of her biggest hits. For those of you not familiar with Amy, she was a massive Christian pop star in the 80s and in 1991 released her first crossover album Heart In Motion, which yielded five top 20 singles, two of which went to number one.
While I was never a particular fan of Amy until that album came out, I had a friend back in the day (the nicest guy you'll ever meet), who was a hard-core Christian and a massive fan. I can honestly say that's how I even knew who she was until HIM was released.
Without a doubt, her fan base has a huge gay following, and just by looking at the DJs that remixed her hits, it appears she covered almost all the bases with a list of who's who in the DJ community. Heck, she even got Hex Hector on board for one of the songs, which is rare these days.
Party Favorz would like to welcome Amy Grant to the DIVA HALL of FAME as a welcome addition to an already crowded field of diversity.

Hex Hector Unleashed: The Ultimate Remix Collection Volume 1
Saturday Jul 11, 2015
Saturday Jul 11, 2015
A journey through the dynamic scene of dance remixes is incomplete without encountering the legend that is Hex Hector. Starting with humble beginnings, the New York-based DJ and remixer rose to prominence by shaping the contours of the dance music scene for more than a decade. One of the most pivotal moments of his illustrious career was an early rejection that became a blessing in disguise.
Picture this: a young Hex Hector presents a remix of Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart" to music mogul Clive Davis, only to be met with skepticism. Clive suggests he work with Soul Solution instead. Unbeknownst to Hex at the time, this move would propel the remix into a massive gay anthem, setting the tone for a new era of progressive and tribal house music.
Fast forward two years later, and Davis approached Hector to work his magic on Deborah Cox's lead single off her sophomore album "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here." This turned out to be a pivotal moment that further solidified Hex Hector's standing in the realm of elite production remix DJs. Although he didn't receive top billing—his name was subtly tucked away in the liner credits—the impact of his work was anything but footnote material. The remix was a smash hit, serving as a testament to Hector's prowess in reimagining songs in a way that captured the audience's imagination while filling dance floors across the globe.
The monumental success of "Un-Break My Heart" and "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" coincided with a new generation of DJs that were taking dance floors to new heights providing fresh new sounds never heard before. Club 69's Peter Rauhofer, Victor Calderone, Thunderpuss, Junior Vasquez, and Jonathan Peters followed in Hex Hector's footsteps, incorporating a fresh, new progressive big room style into their remixes.
Now, let's delve into the Tribute to Hex Hector we've all been buzzing about. We scoured the expansive catalog of Hex's creations, paying meticulous attention to your favorite mixes while curating the ultimate dance experience. Contrary to Jason's belief (sorry, buddy), the absence of certain tracks doesn't detract from the overall quality of the setlist. While Hex's Wikipedia page does provide an exhaustive list, its reliability can sometimes be sketchy. If you want to verify the legitimacy of a particular remix, Discogs is your go-to resource.
Rather than truncate these gems, I let most of the tracks breathe, running their full course with only minor edits to their intros and outros. For fans of the divas like Deborah Cox, Toni Braxton and Whitney Houston, some of my mixshow edits can also be found in their respective Diva Series collections.
Each set in this tribute series is a pure distillation of Hex Hector's creative brilliance, but like you, I have my personal favorites. Melanie C's "I Turn To You," Ricky Martin's "She Bangs," and Sarah Brightman's haunting "Harem (Cançao do Mar)" resonate for myriad reasons. Solu Music's "Fade" featuring Kimblee is also a stand-out, blending perfectly into the Hex Hector mosaic we've pieced together.
The musical odyssey doesn't end here. We have a whopping seven more installments coming your way, ready to keep your feet moving and your soul grooving. So whether you're burning these sets to CDs or streaming them on your favorite platform, prepare for an exhilarating dance music experience that's the epitome of Hex Hector's enduring legacy.

Summer Sweat | Even More BIG-ASS Circuit Beats
Friday Jul 03, 2015
Friday Jul 03, 2015
Happy 4th of July! Hope your holiday isn't as rain-soaked as it has been here in Georgia. I just got back from a morning run to Dicky Doo's Diner, an awesome place for a great southern breakfast that's not processed, frozen, and then reheated. It's the real deal. Sadly, I was dripping wet as another storm came through and it was pouring. But hey, don't allow my misery get in the way of holiday fun.
I'm kinda surprised nobody has picked up on the cover art for these two sets. I decided to have a little fun this go-around. The hot guys were picked up from some Brazilian model website (yes, I like my Latin men) and then I decided to give these a magazine layout feel. If any of you are familiar with the Men's Health magazines, I pretty much copied their layout format and just filled in the headlines with my own fun-filled titles. Oh well, I thought they came out fantastic but no big deal.
As for this set, it's what you would come to expect. BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER ...STRONGER!
Hope ya'll have a fantabulous holiday! I'll be back next week with the next installment of Beach Party featuring summer's must-have EDM hits.
Until then ...ENJOY!

Summer Heat | HOT Circuit Beats!
Thursday Jul 02, 2015
Thursday Jul 02, 2015
What an amazing week this has been for progressives! First, the SCOTUS upholds the legitimacy of the Affordable Care Act, which would have caused millions of people to lose their health insurance had they ruled against it; followed by their ruling which legalizes same-sex marriage in all 50 states.
Another ruling that was equally important but received less attention came from Arizona, where voters petitioned and passed a referendum that took the drawing up of districts out of state congressional hands and assigned it to a bi-partisan group consisting of two Republicans, two Democrats, and one independent. If you've ever seen how these districts are drawn up on a map, you would have a better understanding as to why the Republicans have a stranglehold on Congress. They are designed to cheat the system ensuring like-minded individuals (i.e. right-wing nutjobs) are the overwhelming majority in each district.
When you have competitive districts composed of mixed ideology, progressives will usually win and re-thugs couldn't have that; so they challenged it and lost. Now the momentum is on "we the people's" side to have gerrymandering relegated to the dustbins of history throughout the US. Bring it on bitches!
Granted, we've also been grappling with the deaths of nine black folks in a South Carolina church by yet another right-wing nut job, which has been ensconced in a debate over the Confederate flag and whether or not state capitals should be flying the core symbol of slavery. Sadly, you have to take the good with the bad. Nevertheless, this symbol of bigotry and hatred may be seeing its final days up on a pole in most southern states. Walmart and Amazon have already yanked them from their shelves. No doubt, all the racists will be waving the flag touting their support for their history, which frankly they know very little of.
For now, it's ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC! I promised a little something-something for your 4th of July holiday and boy am I delivering! I've got not one but TWO massive circuit sets going up (the second will be tomorrow) for your holiday enjoyment. "Heat" and "sweat" are the two recurring themes in these sets, so make sure to drink plenty of water LOL.
I'll be back tomorrow with part deuce. Until then ...ENJOY!

If you're feeling nostalgic for the time when dance floors pulsated with the kinetic energy of early 00s Dance Classics, Party Favorz has your fix. Continuing the soul-stirring journey through our Backspin series, we've curated the "Addicted to Bass," a spiritual successor to our earlier set.
Dive into the abyss of hypnotic beats and reverberating basslines that shaped the turn of the millennium. The tracks we've handpicked for this installment are timeless, remaining as invigorating today as they were at the peak of their popularity.
Let's delve into some of the gems this episode has to offer. Puretone's "Addicted To Bass," is a track that cascaded through speakers with an almost hypnotic allure, here spiced up by Differentgear's unmistakable flair. Then you've got Celeda's "The Underground," an edgy staple of the early 00s, retouched by none other than Peter Rauhofer. This one's a primal call to the dance floor if there ever was one. If you're seeking more cerebral thrills, Kosheen's "All In My Head" gives you that introspective vibe, enhanced by Planet Funk's creative reimagining.
Of course, who can forget Fragma's "Toca's Miracle"? No Backspin collection would be complete without this pulsating anthem. This extended mix requires no tweaking—it's a masterpiece in its own right. Then you have the sensual "Dove (I'll Be Loving You)" by Moony, given an exotic layer by Stephane K. & John Creamer, and Rui Da Silva's "Touch Me," featuring Cassandra, which is amplified by Double 99's touch.
Cassius's "The Sound Of Violence" takes an invigorating turn with Narcotic Thrust's intense club mix. And if you're in the mood for a twist, you'll appreciate Daniel Bedingfield's "Gotta Get Thru This," spruced up by Passengerz.
Don't think we're done with surprises. Ever heard rock blended with dance? Check out Coldplay's "Clocks," which Heaven & Earth Division remix into a dance floor revelation. Then there's the whimsical yet poignant "They Say Vision" by Res, given a suave revamp by Robbie Rivera.
These early 00s Dance Classics offer a snapshot into an era where genres blended and musical norms were subverted. Whether it was the influence of DJs, who often took these tracks and turned them into transcendental experiences, or the original pulsating beats that made them classics, each tune in this Backspin episode speaks to a time of musical exploration and freedom.
So there it is, another enriching trip down the musical avenues of the past, serving both as a reflection of where we've been and an enduring testament to the staying power of quality dance music.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

The Allure of Early Millennial Dance Classics: Feels So Good

Hey dance enthusiasts, we've cooked up something you won't want to miss—a new set of BackSpins infused with early Millennial Dance Classics that still resonate today. Originally hailing from the zenith of dance music between 1999 and 2003, these tracks offer a cocktail of nostalgia with a dash of contemporary flair.
Initially, the plan was to package this sonic experience as a single set. But let's be honest, when you're dealing with early Millennial Dance Classics that exude both melodic depth and rhythmic complexity, it's hard to limit yourself. So, we decided to let the beat breathe and split it into two incredible sets. Whether you were grooving to these beats back in the day or are a newcomer to the genre, these selections offer a timeless journey worth embarking upon.
Now, let's dig into the essence of this set—its remixes and re-works. Take, for example, the version of "Breathe" by Telepopmusik. The mix we've featured here isn't your typical extended cut; it's a deftly crafted re-work by Sarlotte. This iteration preserves the essence of the original while enhancing it with a novel intro and outro. For those who seek both familiarity and a fresh spin, this one's a keeper.
But the set doesn't stop there. Goldtrix and Andrea Brown's "It's Love (Trippin')" receives the Original EPTN Mix treatment, adding a robust layer to an already captivating track. Or take the case of Chicane's "Saltwater" featuring Maire Brennan; the Tomski vs. Disco Citizens Remix takes the listener on a euphoric expedition across sonic landscapes.
Moreover, the enduring "Get It Together" by Seal takes on new heights courtesy of the Bill Hamel Vocal Mix. Here, Seal's soulful vocals are further amplified, making the track a noteworthy inclusion in the pantheon of early Millennial Dance Classics. And speaking of vocals, Frou Frou's "Breathe In" is enriched by the Watkins Vocal Mix, offering a textured ambiance that both captivates and intrigues.
Other gems in the mix include Beginerz's "Reckless Girl", Simply Red's "Sunrise" remixed into an ATFC, and Layo & Bushwacka!’s “Love Story” accentuated by Tim Deluxe Remix. A special nod goes to the Narcotic Thrust with Yvonne John Lewis's "Safe From Harm," with the K-Klass Off Limits remix adding an extra layer of intrigue.
So, what's the verdict? These early Millennial Dance Classics prove that well-crafted dance music ages like fine wine. Whether it's the upbeat vibe of Dido's "White Flag" given an edge by the Scumfrog Extended Mix or the haunting allure of Sono's "Keep Control" under the Terry Lee Brown Jr's Vocal Mix, each track offers something unique while echoing the zeitgeist of a bygone era.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow for part two of this dance floor odyssey.
