EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

Break-up Dance Classics: Crying on the Dancefloor
Friday May 08, 2015
Friday May 08, 2015
Life throws curveballs, and relationships are no exception. After a 14-year journey with Rick, we've decided to part ways. It's a challenging moment, yes, but it's led to something emotionally raw yet cathartic: a compilation of early break-up dance classics. Party Favorz offers this unique set to accompany the myriad feelings a break-up evokes—be it sadness, anger, regret, or even empowerment.
Given the life transitions, including a move away from Atlanta, pardon the somewhat less polished mix set this time around. Despite this, I'm convinced that the collection will resonate with many of you, perhaps even offering a semblance of solace. This one's filed under our beloved Backspin category.
Now, let's delve into this stirring collection of songs that capture the complexities of ending a relationship. The Groovefunkel New Disco remix of Gloria Gaynor's seminal "I Will Survive" transforms this gay anthem of empowerment into a dance-floor-ready battle cry. Another standout is Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together," presented here in the Atlantic Soul Vocal Remix. This version adds a danceable twist to Mariah's poignant lyrics about love and loss.
Toni Braxton's soul-wrenching "Un-Break My Heart" finds a new context in the Franktidrama Mix, while Amy Winehouse's "Tears Dry On Their Own" offers a fresh perspective via the Alix Alvarez Sole Channel Mix. Celine Dion's "All By Myself," remixed by Tracy Young, and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" in the Hex Hector remix, add layers of emotional depth to these early break-up dance classics.
For a modern touch, Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" receives the Ralphi & Craig remix, weaving a tale of assertiveness amidst sorrow. Further, Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" is transformed into a house epic by the Downtown London remix, adding sonic dimensions to the grief and anger the original so perfectly encapsulates.
Alice Deejay’s “Better Off Alone,” Rihanna’s “Love The Way You Lie” remixed by the Italian Dandies, and Pink’s “Please Don’t Leave Me” in the Digital Dog remix also find their way into this cathartic dance set. Each track serves as a pillar of solace, standing strong amidst the chaos of human emotions.
As I embark on a new chapter in my life, it's uncertain how soon Party Favorz will be back in full swing. However, rest assured that our mission to bring rhythm and beats to life's ups and downs remains steadfast. Until the next time...ENJOY!
Rick and I moved back in together at the beginning of 2016 starting a new chapters in our lives. It's now 2023 and we're still together and plan on marrying soon. Thanks to all the Party Favorz followers for your well-wishes. You are the lifeblood that keeps this podcast running.

Go Deep
Saturday Mar 21, 2015
Saturday Mar 21, 2015
About two weeks ago, I had started on what would be a two-set funky-house-music series for April. I had gotten through the elimination process and just threw the songs together to see what worked and what didn't. That was about as far as I got.
So yesterday, while backing up and clearing out my hard drive, I left the house music folder for last. I combined the two sets and dumped it on my phone to check out later. That evening, I decided to get drunk and play Monopoly (yes, it's nice and slow and I don't have to think) while listening to this rough mix.
Overall, the music is solid but the mixing could use some work and some songs likely would have been cut. Since I know I won't be able to finish these sets, I left them as one and decided to share it with everyone. Keep in mind, this IS NOT finished product but is definitely good enough for your listening enjoyment.
This is the last thing on my hard drive and I don't have anything else that was in the works. For what it's worth ...ENJOY!
Final Thoughts: The Party Favorz Vault has been suspended and will not be accepting any new subscribers. Current subscribers will continue to have access, though if you have a recurring plan, I'd suggest you go ahead and cancel it; you'll still have access afterward.
Also, if you live in the ATL area and know someone who has a guest house for rent, reach out to me on Facebook or Google. I literally have no place to go when our lease is up on the 13th. I've got a ton of really nice furniture and appliances that I may just have to give away, since I know I can't take most of this stuff and Rick isn't getting any of it.
Any suggestions, LMK.

Spring Break 2015 | EDM Party Mix
Thursday Mar 19, 2015
Thursday Mar 19, 2015
HOT OFF THE PRESS! The 2015 Spring Break EDM edition has made its way to the Party Favorz front page much sooner than anticipated. The fact it made it at all is a miracle of sorts since it wasn't coming together for me as early as this past weekend. After scrapping the whole mix and walking away for 24 hours, I came back with a fresh take, and BOOM this sucker fell right into place.
Keep in mind, this is intended to be a party mix so there is a good mixture of deep house, commercial, BIG electro-progressive, and even hip-hop represented here. I was getting tripped up on a couple of Trap songs I wanted to include but ultimately threw one out and picked up a bootleg of the other, which got me where I needed to go.
On a more sober note ...
Not to be the bearer of bad news, but this is going to be my last post for a very long time. After 14 years, Rick and I are splitting up and I have no clue where I'm going to live or what my next move will be.
I'll keep the streaming option open for another 30 days and will retain the rights to the partyfavorz.com name. After all, this is a franchise I built and I have no intention of letting it go to some cheesy wholesale party goods store out of China. My site hosting is another matter entirely. I won't be able to afford it once it comes up in May so you may get a message around that time about the site not being available. I'll likely just hang a sign on the front door letting everyone know the status.
As for the vault access, that is completely separate from the site and is tied to my Google account; so that will continue to be accessible for subscribers. In other words, there is no need to rush and start downloading a bunch of stuff to get you caught up. It'll still be there when you get around to it.
Though I take every aspect of this site seriously, ultimately Party Favorz was just for fun and a way for me to express myself creatively. While I won't say never, ever again, I have to be honest because things are looking pretty bleak at the moment. Nevertheless, things can always change on a dime, so don't count me out even if you haven't heard from me in several months. I'll do my best to pull something together, but I can't make any promises.
I'd thank everyone that's supported my efforts and all the friends I've made throughout the years, but that would sound final ...SO I WON'T [grin]. I hope everyone is finally thawing out and gearing up for a great weekend. Until the next time... ENJOY!

Party Favorz is currently in a wrap-up mode. Meaning, I'm trying to get out as much finished product as possible because of upcoming interruptions in my daily life. To be certain, it's complicated but I've got a lot on my plate and may be displaced in about a month or so.
For you folks, that's good news because your thirst gets quenched much sooner before it runs dry.
So for now, I'm sending up the Spring Edition 2015, which is a slamming set featuring some of the biggest beats hot off the circuit! This is a monster, so be sure to consume slowly or you might overheat.
I'm going to go ahead and deliver the Jody Watley [Soul Sessions] tomorrow and will try to deliver the next EDM set by the end of the next week if I can work it out.
Until then ...ENJOY!

Jody Watley | The Diva Series | The Soul Sessions
Saturday Mar 14, 2015
Saturday Mar 14, 2015
After the success of her second album Larger Than Life, Jody Watley began to dig deeper and became more introspective in her music. For the most part, she was in tune with the changing musical landscape as house music began to move into the mainstream, while other elements of the genre (in particular Soulful House) were rapidly gaining notoriety within the underground dance scene.
Her newer albums (Affairs of the Heart, Intimacy, and Affection) would reflect an artist who had not only matured but become socially aware. Lyrically, all of the elements of floor-burners like Looking For a New Love and Don't You Want Me were there but were presented in a way that many of her earlier fans didn't get. It's a shame because some of Jody's best work was coming out of these albums as well as subsequent releases.
Vocally, Jody was never going to be a Martha Wash nor Loleatta Holloway but she could sure stand on her own next to Barbara Tucker and/or Ultra Nate (other soulful house goddesses at the time). Jody's voice is so distinctive that when she sings backup on someone else's song, you don't have to ask who it is, you just know. There's a funky addictive nu-disco number she performed with French Horn Rebellion called Cold Enough that came out late last year and without having not known who it was the minute the female voice kicks in I knew immediately and was like OMG ...that's Jody!
"I'm gonna get my hair done, nails done, I'm gonna get my drag on, I'm gonna party tonight" -Nightlife
In addition to the work Jody has been doing with others, she also released a quite excellent 8-song album titled Paradise in July of last year off of her Avitone Recording imprint. That album contains the red-hot Nightlife and Tonight's the Night (with Mark De Clive-Lowe) and I'm hoping that Dancer and The Dawn also get the remix treatments in the near future. The album may be short, but it's sheer nu-disco/house perfection!
In support of Jody's ongoing efforts and to spotlight the essence of her fabulosity, I've gone ahead and added a second induction into the Diva Hall of Fame, with the inclusion of the Soul Sessions. Let yourself get swept away in this lush set of 90s Soulful House Music. ENJOY!

Jody Watley | The Diva Series | 90s Club Hits
Thursday Mar 12, 2015
Thursday Mar 12, 2015
From Fly Girl to backup dancer for Janet ...oh wait! I'm getting my DIVAS mixed up. Let's try this again ...
From Soul Train dancer to member of the 70s and 80s disco/R&B group Shalamar, to fashion icon and actress to dance floor D-I-V-A, Jody Watley truly is the shit!
After leaving Shalamar in the early 80s, Jody took off for the UK and worked on a variety of projects. 2-1/2 years later, she returned to the states, signed a record deal with MCA, and just exploded all over the charts with mega-hits Looking For a New Love, Don't You Want Me, and Some Kind of Lover. She continued her successful streak into the early 90s with hits like Real Love, Friends, and Everything.
Over the next few albums, Jody began experimenting with her sound to include Jazz, Soul, and House. It's during the period throughout the 90s that she transformed herself into a soulful chanteuse. Despite critical acclaim, many of these releases failed to break into the upper reaches of the Billboard charts. For Jody, it's not always about "the charts" but being true to herself and her art. While that may not always pay the bills, it certainly kept our attention throughout the years.
So how do you go about honoring someone who has three stages of her musical career? First, pick yourself up a copy of You Wanna Dance With Me? and you've got your 80's dance diva output covered. Then, you pick up a copy of this set which focuses on her more commercial output (club hits) from the 90s to the present day. There are a lot of rarities in this set and frankly, I worked the shit out of it as if Jody were standing over me with a big stick.
Next week, I'm going to treat everybody to the third side of Jody many of you probably never knew about; that's her soulful side. I can assure you that it is pure bliss and well worth the listen.
For now, please give a standing ovation for MISS JODY WATLEY! Gurrrrl, you are now officially entered into the very prestigious DIVA HALL OF FAME!

The Mixtape Sessions Spring 2015 Volume 2
Thursday Mar 12, 2015
Thursday Mar 12, 2015
Following up on v1 of the Spring Mixtape Sessions, I've got some sweet tunes that have been on heavy rotation in my phone for the past several weeks.
From classic re-works of Janet Jackson and Funkstar De Luxe (Bob Marley) to the classic remakes Better Off Alone (originally by Alice Deejay) and Show Me Love (originally by Robin S), this set represents the anti-top 40 with brilliant tunes on the chill tip.
Show Me Love is a magnificent re-interpretation of the early 90s house classic that defies all logic on paper until you hear it. Sam Feldt's soulful delivery shines bright with a sharp focus on the lyrics that were otherwise overlooked in the original. Nothing short of brilliant!
These songs are sandwiched between a hefty dose of originals that I won't pick apart individually other than to say they are some of the finest tunes you won't hear on the radio at the moment.
As usual, I close things out with something uplifting and Dance fits the bill quite nicely. Gina Carey's vocals and spiritual reading channel an early 80s Stephanie Mills on this excellent slice of soulful house.
Make sure to check back later today and tomorrow because I've decided to go ahead and post the next Diva Series and the 2015 Spring Edition for the circuit boys is going up tomorrow. So DON'T MISS OUT!

Taylor Dayne | The Diva Series
Friday Mar 06, 2015
Friday Mar 06, 2015
With the release of her first single Tell It To My Heart in 1987, Taylor Dayne was propelled into Pop-Diva-Icon status. The Ric Wake produced track, was an instant worldwide smash at radio and on the dance charts, which paved the way for three more Top 10 hits Prove Your Love, I'll Always Love You, and Don't Rush Me from her self-titled multi-platinum debut album.
Some may remember her debut album having two different album covers. One featured Taylor with big hair and extensions (typical of the late 80s and the second cover, which came out later in 1988 sported a softer look without the big hair. Wikipedia states that her new-found success at adult contemporary radio for her ballad I'll Always Love You was the reason for the switch-up in album covers around the time her fourth single Don't Rush Me was released.
If I remember correctly Taylor was nominated for two Grammy's; one for best pop vocal performance (Tell It to My Heart) and the other for best R&B vocal performance (I'll Always Love You). The rumor at the time was that after losing both categories, Taylor went into D-I-V-A mode backstage and ripped out her extensions. Upset that she had not won either category and not happy with the image Arista (her label) had created for her, this was the real reason for the second album cover. This may or may not be true, but I'm inclined to believe the latter since it fits in nicely with our perception of a TRUE DIVA. After all, this wouldn't be the first time Arista records pigeon-holed one of their artists into an image that didn't reflect their artistry (see P!nk).
By 1990, Taylor shed the perm and released her next album Can't Fight Fate. That album took her sound in a more pop-rock direction and served up two Top 10 singles With Every Beat of My Heart and I'll Be Your Shelter plus the number one hit Love Will Lead You Back (the latter two penned by Diane Warren).
Taylor's third album Soul Dancing, returned her to her dance roots with additional production from Shep Pettibone. Despite a strong presence and muscular vocals on the remake of the Barry White classic Can't Get Enough of Your Love (the album's lead single) the album failed to perform well and put her at odds with Arista head, Clive Davis. Once again, rumors prevailed that he did not want the song to be the first single because it did not reflect what was going on at radio at the time. In addition, another one of Clive's divas (Lisa Stansfield) was releasing her third studio album and leading off with another Barry White cover Never, Never Gone Give You Up, which also failed to chart well. Lisa ended up losing her US distribution on Arista and Taylor ended up with a greatest hits album after and was cut from the roster.
Taylor has since gone on to put out independent releases and has reached the top of the Billboard Club charts multiple times (Naked Without You, Planet Love) and remains one of the most highly regarded vocalists of her generation and is adored by her loyal fans.
Ladies and gentlemen, please give a standing ovation for our newest induction into the Diva Hall of Fame, Miss Taylor Dayne!

The Mixtape Sessions Spring 2015 Volume 1
Thursday Mar 05, 2015
Thursday Mar 05, 2015
Welcome to the first Mixtape Sessions of 2015. Unlike the last few, I was aiming for a happier vibe with the next two offerings; something that would reflect better days to come. It still gets a little moody in spots, but nothing that would make you want to put a noose around your neck LOL.
One thing I can say for certain, this is the only place you're gonna find The Jackson 5, Simon & Garfunkel right next to Diplo and Iggy Azalea LOL. I guess I'll just have to let the set speak for itself.
Though I have two of these on tap for you folks, I've decided to break things up and post a new Diva set tomorrow and then the second Mixtape next week followed by another Diva set. It's all good; so don't freak out if I don't follow the natural order.
I'll be back tomorrow with Taylor Dayne's official induction into the Diva Hall of Fame. Until then ...ENJOY!

EDM Sessions 2.15

Happy Friday Everybody! I've been in a little bit of a rush this morning but didn't want to leave you folks withering on a limb. After all, I missed my post-deadline last week due to technical issues with my host's servers and then some other technicalities involving Google. All of this has been resolved, and if Google doesn't wanna play nice no more, then so be it. I've done all I can to meet their expectations and guidelines.
That being said, I'm serving up the EDM Sessions 2.15, better known as the February edition. This is an unapologetic commercial set but I am thinking about going a bit deeper and heavier for the next one, just to kind of shake things up a bit.
So what's in store for March? Glad you asked. I've got two brand spanking new Mixtape sets in the can and set for next week. I'm working on the next Diva Series induction (who could it be?) a possible Tribute set (hmmm) then the Spring Break Edition of EDM and of course the next Spring Edition for the circuit boys. In short, March Madness breaks loose starting next week so I got a BIG month on tap for you folks.
I hope ya'll have a great weekend. Until the next time ...ENJOY!

So is anybody as sick and tired of the rain, ice, snow and ungodly freezing-cold temperatures as I am? If you answered yes, you're a reasonable and sane person. If you answered no, give us your address so everyone that answered yes can go there and kick your ass LOL.
Granted, I live in Atlanta so the worst we've had was about 15 degrees for a couple of days and many in the 20s. This morning it was 32 and we even had a little snow-dust yesterday but nothing near as bad as those folks above our latitude; my heart bleeds for you.
I'm a southern boy who is used to warmer, sunny days and when it isn't; I feel about as happy as Box Boy on the cover art of this set.
That being said, I'm here to inject warmth into these gloomy days with some funky, disco, house shit that will have you thinking about sipping margaritas on the beach.
Hang in there folks, spring is almost here. ENJOY!

Oh, honey! Hold onto your sequins because the disco ball is spinning, and it's all about Kylie Minogue, our newest sensation in the Diva Hall of Fame! I've been chomping at the bit to unveil this high-voltage induction. Trust me, it's been a labor of love, as I've meticulously fine-tuned every single detail—right from the scintillating cover art to the most captivating remixes that define Kylie's dancefloor reign.
Now, before you go getting all bent out of shape, let's clear the air. Not every remix you adore made the list. I had to make some hard calls, but hey, that's showbiz for you. Treat this induction as my musical Valentine's bouquet to all you dance aficionados and Kylie devotees out there. Though, "Your Disco Needs You" is a major oversight and will be corrected in a future update.
Can't Get You Out of My Head (Mike Rizzo Remix)
"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" in the Mike Rizzo Global Mixshow Edit is pure dancefloor dynamite. It's the kind of track that hooks you from the first beat and refuses to let go. Trust me, no one's complaining! Kylie and Mike Rizzo create a synergy that's as vibrant as a disco ball. This version elevates the iconic song into a liberating anthem that especially resonates with Kylie's devoted gay fans. In essence, it's not just a tune; it's an emotion, a collective sigh of bliss every time it hits the speakers.
Love At First Sight (Wayne G Anthem Mix)
Next up, "Love At First Sight," uplifted by the Wayne G Anthem Mix. I mean, come on, this mix can literally stir up love at first listen. It's romantic, it's uplifting, and let me just say, it's an open invitation for couples to find each other amid disco lights and sweaty palms.
The One (Freemasons Vocal Club Remix)
Don't even get me started on "The One" with the Freemasons performing remix duties. This track? This track is like a burst of fireworks in an open sky, mesmerizing yet substantial—just what you need to elevate your clubbing experience.
All The Lovers (WaWa & MMB Anthem Mix)
Lastly, let's talk about "All The Lovers," revamped by WaWa & MMB Anthem Mix. Here's where Kylie truly celebrates her enduring relationship with her LGBTQ+ fans. The tune practically begs you to let loose, lock lips, or simply live your best life on the dancefloor.
Kylie's enchanting remixes and timeless tracks have solidified her iconic status, especially in the LGBTQ+ community. Whether it's her radiant persona or her innate ability to turn any tune into a dance anthem, Ms. Minogue is a queen we all bow down to.
So, grab your glitter, don your most fabulous attire, and get ready to groove because Kylie Minogue has officially been crowned in our Diva Hall of Fame. It's not just a title; it's an accolade she's earned through years of keeping us twirling, shimmying, and feeling unapologetically ourselves on that pulsating dancefloor.
Until the next time...ENJOY!
Donate and keep the party going!
