EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

Jody Watley | The Diva Series | 90s Club Hits
Thursday Mar 12, 2015
Thursday Mar 12, 2015
From Fly Girl to backup dancer for Janet ...oh wait! I'm getting my DIVAS mixed up. Let's try this again ...
From Soul Train dancer to member of the 70s and 80s disco/R&B group Shalamar, to fashion icon and actress to dance floor D-I-V-A, Jody Watley truly is the shit!
After leaving Shalamar in the early 80s, Jody took off for the UK and worked on a variety of projects. 2-1/2 years later, she returned to the states, signed a record deal with MCA, and just exploded all over the charts with mega-hits Looking For a New Love, Don't You Want Me, and Some Kind of Lover. She continued her successful streak into the early 90s with hits like Real Love, Friends, and Everything.
Over the next few albums, Jody began experimenting with her sound to include Jazz, Soul, and House. It's during the period throughout the 90s that she transformed herself into a soulful chanteuse. Despite critical acclaim, many of these releases failed to break into the upper reaches of the Billboard charts. For Jody, it's not always about "the charts" but being true to herself and her art. While that may not always pay the bills, it certainly kept our attention throughout the years.
So how do you go about honoring someone who has three stages of her musical career? First, pick yourself up a copy of You Wanna Dance With Me? and you've got your 80's dance diva output covered. Then, you pick up a copy of this set which focuses on her more commercial output (club hits) from the 90s to the present day. There are a lot of rarities in this set and frankly, I worked the shit out of it as if Jody were standing over me with a big stick.
Next week, I'm going to treat everybody to the third side of Jody many of you probably never knew about; that's her soulful side. I can assure you that it is pure bliss and well worth the listen.
For now, please give a standing ovation for MISS JODY WATLEY! Gurrrrl, you are now officially entered into the very prestigious DIVA HALL OF FAME!

The Mixtape Sessions Spring 2015 Volume 2
Thursday Mar 12, 2015
Thursday Mar 12, 2015
Following up on v1 of the Spring Mixtape Sessions, I've got some sweet tunes that have been on heavy rotation in my phone for the past several weeks.
From classic re-works of Janet Jackson and Funkstar De Luxe (Bob Marley) to the classic remakes Better Off Alone (originally by Alice Deejay) and Show Me Love (originally by Robin S), this set represents the anti-top 40 with brilliant tunes on the chill tip.
Show Me Love is a magnificent re-interpretation of the early 90s house classic that defies all logic on paper until you hear it. Sam Feldt's soulful delivery shines bright with a sharp focus on the lyrics that were otherwise overlooked in the original. Nothing short of brilliant!
These songs are sandwiched between a hefty dose of originals that I won't pick apart individually other than to say they are some of the finest tunes you won't hear on the radio at the moment.
As usual, I close things out with something uplifting and Dance fits the bill quite nicely. Gina Carey's vocals and spiritual reading channel an early 80s Stephanie Mills on this excellent slice of soulful house.
Make sure to check back later today and tomorrow because I've decided to go ahead and post the next Diva Series and the 2015 Spring Edition for the circuit boys is going up tomorrow. So DON'T MISS OUT!

Taylor Dayne | The Diva Series
Friday Mar 06, 2015
Friday Mar 06, 2015
With the release of her first single Tell It To My Heart in 1987, Taylor Dayne was propelled into Pop-Diva-Icon status. The Ric Wake produced track, was an instant worldwide smash at radio and on the dance charts, which paved the way for three more Top 10 hits Prove Your Love, I'll Always Love You, and Don't Rush Me from her self-titled multi-platinum debut album.
Some may remember her debut album having two different album covers. One featured Taylor with big hair and extensions (typical of the late 80s and the second cover, which came out later in 1988 sported a softer look without the big hair. Wikipedia states that her new-found success at adult contemporary radio for her ballad I'll Always Love You was the reason for the switch-up in album covers around the time her fourth single Don't Rush Me was released.
If I remember correctly Taylor was nominated for two Grammy's; one for best pop vocal performance (Tell It to My Heart) and the other for best R&B vocal performance (I'll Always Love You). The rumor at the time was that after losing both categories, Taylor went into D-I-V-A mode backstage and ripped out her extensions. Upset that she had not won either category and not happy with the image Arista (her label) had created for her, this was the real reason for the second album cover. This may or may not be true, but I'm inclined to believe the latter since it fits in nicely with our perception of a TRUE DIVA. After all, this wouldn't be the first time Arista records pigeon-holed one of their artists into an image that didn't reflect their artistry (see P!nk).
By 1990, Taylor shed the perm and released her next album Can't Fight Fate. That album took her sound in a more pop-rock direction and served up two Top 10 singles With Every Beat of My Heart and I'll Be Your Shelter plus the number one hit Love Will Lead You Back (the latter two penned by Diane Warren).
Taylor's third album Soul Dancing, returned her to her dance roots with additional production from Shep Pettibone. Despite a strong presence and muscular vocals on the remake of the Barry White classic Can't Get Enough of Your Love (the album's lead single) the album failed to perform well and put her at odds with Arista head, Clive Davis. Once again, rumors prevailed that he did not want the song to be the first single because it did not reflect what was going on at radio at the time. In addition, another one of Clive's divas (Lisa Stansfield) was releasing her third studio album and leading off with another Barry White cover Never, Never Gone Give You Up, which also failed to chart well. Lisa ended up losing her US distribution on Arista and Taylor ended up with a greatest hits album after and was cut from the roster.
Taylor has since gone on to put out independent releases and has reached the top of the Billboard Club charts multiple times (Naked Without You, Planet Love) and remains one of the most highly regarded vocalists of her generation and is adored by her loyal fans.
Ladies and gentlemen, please give a standing ovation for our newest induction into the Diva Hall of Fame, Miss Taylor Dayne!

The Mixtape Sessions Spring 2015 Volume 1
Thursday Mar 05, 2015
Thursday Mar 05, 2015
Welcome to the first Mixtape Sessions of 2015. Unlike the last few, I was aiming for a happier vibe with the next two offerings; something that would reflect better days to come. It still gets a little moody in spots, but nothing that would make you want to put a noose around your neck LOL.
One thing I can say for certain, this is the only place you're gonna find The Jackson 5, Simon & Garfunkel right next to Diplo and Iggy Azalea LOL. I guess I'll just have to let the set speak for itself.
Though I have two of these on tap for you folks, I've decided to break things up and post a new Diva set tomorrow and then the second Mixtape next week followed by another Diva set. It's all good; so don't freak out if I don't follow the natural order.
I'll be back tomorrow with Taylor Dayne's official induction into the Diva Hall of Fame. Until then ...ENJOY!

Friday Feb 27, 2015
Happy Friday Everybody! I've been in a little bit of a rush this morning but didn't want to leave you folks withering on a limb. After all, I missed my post-deadline last week due to technical issues with my host's servers and then some other technicalities involving Google. All of this has been resolved, and if Google doesn't wanna play nice no more, then so be it. I've done all I can to meet their expectations and guidelines.
That being said, I'm serving up the EDM Sessions 2.15, better known as the February edition. This is an unapologetic commercial set but I am thinking about going a bit deeper and heavier for the next one, just to kind of shake things up a bit.
So what's in store for March? Glad you asked. I've got two brand spanking new Mixtape sets in the can and set for next week. I'm working on the next Diva Series induction (who could it be?) a possible Tribute set (hmmm) then the Spring Break Edition of EDM and of course the next Spring Edition for the circuit boys. In short, March Madness breaks loose starting next week so I got a BIG month on tap for you folks.
I hope ya'll have a great weekend. Until the next time ...ENJOY!

So is anybody as sick and tired of the rain, ice, snow and ungodly freezing-cold temperatures as I am? If you answered yes, you're a reasonable and sane person. If you answered no, give us your address so everyone that answered yes can go there and kick your ass LOL.
Granted, I live in Atlanta so the worst we've had was about 15 degrees for a couple of days and many in the 20s. This morning it was 32 and we even had a little snow-dust yesterday but nothing near as bad as those folks above our latitude; my heart bleeds for you.
I'm a southern boy who is used to warmer, sunny days and when it isn't; I feel about as happy as Box Boy on the cover art of this set.
That being said, I'm here to inject warmth into these gloomy days with some funky, disco, house shit that will have you thinking about sipping margaritas on the beach.
Hang in there folks, spring is almost here. ENJOY!

Kylie Minogue [2015] | The Diva Series
Friday Feb 13, 2015
Friday Feb 13, 2015
Oh, honey! Hold onto your sequins because the disco ball is spinning, and it's all about Kylie Minogue, our newest sensation in the Diva Hall of Fame! I've been chomping at the bit to unveil this high-voltage induction. Trust me, it's been a labor of love, as I've meticulously fine-tuned every single detail—right from the scintillating cover art to the most captivating remixes that define Kylie's dancefloor reign.
Now, before you go getting all bent out of shape, let's clear the air. Not every remix you adore made the list. I had to make some hard calls, but hey, that's showbiz for you. Treat this induction as my musical Valentine's bouquet to all you dance aficionados and Kylie devotees out there. Though, "Your Disco Needs You" is a major oversight and will be corrected in a future update.
Can't Get You Out of My Head (Mike Rizzo Remix)
"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" in the Mike Rizzo Global Mixshow Edit is pure dancefloor dynamite. It's the kind of track that hooks you from the first beat and refuses to let go. Trust me, no one's complaining! Kylie and Mike Rizzo create a synergy that's as vibrant as a disco ball. This version elevates the iconic song into a liberating anthem that especially resonates with Kylie's devoted gay fans. In essence, it's not just a tune; it's an emotion, a collective sigh of bliss every time it hits the speakers.
Love At First Sight (Wayne G Anthem Mix)
Next up, "Love At First Sight," uplifted by the Wayne G Anthem Mix. I mean, come on, this mix can literally stir up love at first listen. It's romantic, it's uplifting, and let me just say, it's an open invitation for couples to find each other amid disco lights and sweaty palms.
The One (Freemasons Vocal Club Remix)
Don't even get me started on "The One" with the Freemasons performing remix duties. This track? This track is like a burst of fireworks in an open sky, mesmerizing yet substantial—just what you need to elevate your clubbing experience.
All The Lovers (WaWa & MMB Anthem Mix)
Lastly, let's talk about "All The Lovers," revamped by WaWa & MMB Anthem Mix. Here's where Kylie truly celebrates her enduring relationship with her LGBTQ+ fans. The tune practically begs you to let loose, lock lips, or simply live your best life on the dancefloor.
Kylie's enchanting remixes and timeless tracks have solidified her iconic status, especially in the LGBTQ+ community. Whether it's her radiant persona or her innate ability to turn any tune into a dance anthem, Ms. Minogue is a queen we all bow down to.
So, grab your glitter, don your most fabulous attire, and get ready to groove because Kylie Minogue has officially been crowned in our Diva Hall of Fame. It's not just a title; it's an accolade she's earned through years of keeping us twirling, shimmying, and feeling unapologetically ourselves on that pulsating dancefloor.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Friday Feb 06, 2015
Friday Feb 06, 2015
After waking up to mid-20s this morning, the sun has come out and it looks to be a gorgeous day. So it hasn't exactly been a devastating winter here in the south and I for one am not about to complain.
Despite this, I'm in a bit of a pissy mood at the moment. I'm dealing with some dickhead named Tim from the leasing office who has been nothing but a straight-up cunt since he came to work here last summer. Let's just say, SHIT is about to hit the fan since I'm not one to take it lying down. Uh, let me rephrase that, take it from a drug-addled queen with a holier than thou attitude; otherwise sure I'll be more than happy to take it laying down, sideways, doggie style ...I digress [grin].
Anyway, I'm dropping the annual Winter Edition for all the circuit-gay-boys who may have already worn out the Holiday Edition(s) I put up in December. These big tribal beats are for YOU! Enjoy!

Katy Perry [2015] | The Diva Series
Saturday Jan 31, 2015
Saturday Jan 31, 2015
When I headed out for some breakfast yesterday, I was listening to the news in my car and found out that Katy Perry was performing at half-time during the Super Bowl tomorrow. I'm sure this was not news to everyone but me; yet somehow, someway that bit of information surpassed the little storage bins in my brain.
That also explained why I was getting a run-up on Katy's initial induction into the Diva Hall of Fame in 2013. I couldn't figure out why that set consistently landed in the top 5 streams/downloads for the past couple of weeks. Now I know why.
To be honest, Katy was already at the top of my list for a re-induction in March but I decided to go ahead and expedite the process.
I threw the cover art together in about an hour and I think it kicks ass. Then I left for the day to take care of personal business and when I got back, I sat down and whipped this set out in just over an hour. Usually, sets will have the first take and then I preview them to see what I like and what I don't, then I go back and make any necessary changes in tracks or versions and correct any issues with beat-matching (a process that can take up to a week with an hour here and an hour there a day).
Ultimately, I think this is a fitting tribute to Katy and her prime-time performance tomorrow. Party Favorz welcomes Katy Perry's continued stay in the Diva Hall of Fame and looks forward to future inductions. For those folks wanting to have a pre-Super Bowl Katy party, you're all set ...ENJOY!

EDM Sessions | Winter 2K15
Friday Jan 16, 2015
Friday Jan 16, 2015
It's time to kick things into gear with the first EDM post of 2015. Party Favorz is back in the driver's seat and gearing up for what's bound to be an exciting year in dance music.
The 2K15 Winter EDM Sessions starts off with the electro-power-pop hit "World" by Gia currently riding up the club charts. This is shaping up to be Gia's first number one on the charts likely propelled by a bucketload of remixes by Dave Aude, Funk Generation, Lenny B, StoneBridge, Eric Morillo, Mike Cruz, DJ Ranny, Dirty Pop and several more.
This quickly leads to newcomer JimiJames "Drop Dat Bitch." The Dirty Pop remix hits hard on this WOW Jones produced track. Look for it to be lighting up floors at 1 am around the globe.
We keep up the peak hour with Gwen Stefani's latest "Spark the Fire" and then begin descending into some AWESOME house, which bounces back and forth between current electro-p0p faves.
Special attention should be given to two Terri B tracks. First is the current number one club hit in the country "Big Fun." This D.O.N.S. produced track was originally released in 2007 on Hed Kandi records but has been re-packaged with new mixes. Big Fun is a remake of the Inner City classic from 1989 and holds a very special place in my heart landing in my Top 10 all-time house favorites. It takes some big shoes to fill the space with a remake, but Terri delivers the goods.
The second track featuring Terri's vocals and currently moving up the club charts (possible second #1 in a year?) is the Cazzette produced "Blind Heart." The original is a heavenly slice of deep house tracking a new direction for the Swedish duo. Terri's vocals add a soulfulness, which sets it way apart from the standard white-girl-with-a-thin-vocal-range currently berating the EDM scene. 2015 is shaping up to be a BIG year for this veteran chanteuse.
3LAU & Nom De Strip with Estelle doing vocal duties drop a remake of the 1995 Eurodance classic "Rhythm of the Night," simply titled "The Night." Over the years, there have been a plethora of remixes and covers of this song but these folks hit it out of the park!
Finally, the UK's Ella Henderson single "Yours" closes out the set. She hasn't completely taken off in the states yet, but "Ghost" (original or remixed) was an excellent debut and Yours further solidifies her potential for mass stardom. Instead of attempting a big room electrifier, the Wideboys fallback on a more familiar housed-up remix and deliver some soothing ear-candy, while allowing Ella's vocals to shine.
That's about all I got for your weekend. Hoping everyone's year has gotten off to a good start.
Have a great weekend and as always ...ENJOY!

Donna Summer [The Casablanca Years] | Disco Classics Mix

The first time I heard the derogatory term "fag" was from my own mother. I was engrossed in an Elton John concert on television—the iconic one where he donned a Donald Duck outfit while passionately playing the piano. Oddly, despite owning all his 8-tracks, my mom had taken a sudden disliking to him. Her utterance of that slur bewildered me, as I didn’t quite grasp its connotation. I only knew it wasn't something one wanted to be called. Tragically, the term resurfaced throughout my life, especially before my brother's passing from AIDS in 1986. These days, my mom has toned it down to saying, "that looks gay."
Fast-forward a few years, and I found myself working at Soundcenter, a local record and stereo equipment store. It was a sanctuary for audiophiles, offering everything from high-end stereo systems to albums, 12-inch singles, and more. My responsibilities included overseeing reorders and displays. One fateful June morning in 1980, a news segment on Stonewall aired. My co-worker Ray pointed at the TV and grimly informed me that I, too, would face the same fate as those being arrested. Once again, I was jarred by the term, more so since it was directly aimed at me this time.
While grappling with my own identity—let's just say an Andy Gibb cover provided some clues—I initially had misconceptions about what being gay entailed. For instance, I assumed it involved a certain affinity for leather and kinks not unlike gay stereotyped Village People at the time, which didn't resonate with me. Music, particularly the works of the incomparable Donna Summer, was my refuge from these complex feelings and societal norms.
As a musically obsessed teen, I’d often sneak my confiscated Zenith stereo from my parents’ closet to spin records while they were at work after they took it away due to failing grades. Even though I mostly bought 45s for their cost-effectiveness, purchasing Donna Summer’s “Bad Girls” album was a defining moment. That album felt like an indulgence, an experience enhanced by the tactile joy of sliding out fresh vinyl. I played it obsessively, memorizing every lyric. The songs from "Bad Girls," along with other Donna Summer classics like “I Feel Love” and “Last Dance,” became the soundtrack to my soul-searching years.

At Soundcenter, I had a unique opportunity to express my love for Donna Summer. When promotional posters for her “On the Radio: Greatest Hits” came in, you can bet one found its way to my bedroom wall. Yet, as my musical taste evolved, influenced by my older sister and shifting cultural trends, Donna had to make room for Debbie Harry Prestenders and others.
Even as I navigated the complexities of high school and the fear of being labeled "gay," my love for Donna Summer never waned. These days, if I need a mood lift, her music remains my go-to therapy. This final set is a heartfelt homage to the Queen of Disco, and my first true love, Donna Summer.
As for Ray, he took his own life about a year after making those derogatory remarks. It was a dark realization about how those who are most vehemently anti-gay might be wrestling with their own closeted identity. While I can't say I mourned his loss, I can at least comprehend his inner turmoil.
To Donna Summer, the true Queen of Disco, you'll forever occupy a cherished place in my heart and my musical journey. Until the next time...ENJOY!

HOLY COW ...I got it done! Party Favorz has been deep in the trenches since November delivering non-stop TOP QUALITY sets for all of your P-A-R-T-Y needs. When it came time to start on the final MEGA-PARTY mix of the year, I didn't know if I had it in me. My mom was a distraction as I spent 3 days reinstalling and updating her computer after Dell screwed her over to the tune of $400 (the cost of a new computer), which I promptly had them refund or risk my ire with the recorded conversation that was set to go up on YouTube. If you wonder why it took so long, that's because she lives in Texas and I'm in Georgia. I do everything for her remotely.
Once I got all of her issues resolved, it was time to get to work and I'll be damned if this set didn't just fall together quite nicely. I purposely used alternate mixes from the Time Capsule 2K15 and threw in several late-year hits to round it out. The end result is one solid party-ass-fun set for your New Year's festivities. In fact, there's no point in looking anywhere else because I got ya covered [self-importance-promotion] with a grin.
The only thing you need to do at this point (besides downloading, which BTW IS FREE TO EVERYONE) is PLAY THIS SHIT LOUD!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!! -K
