EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

Best Classic Circuit Anthems Megamix — New York City Boy
Saturday Jun 07, 2014
Saturday Jun 07, 2014
As I revisited each of the best classic circuit anthems, I noticed that a majority of the songs had a certain grandeur about them. DJs seemed to revel in this opulence, sometimes seemingly without reason. Back in the golden era of dance music, extravagance was the norm. However, upon reflection, I now believe that some of these tracks could do with a bit of creative editing but the longer the better was the rule of thumb back in the day.
Tracks like Thunderpuss' remix of New York City Boy by the Pet Shop Boys or DJ Skribble and Anthony Acid’s version of I’m Not in Love, originally lasted a staggering 14 minutes, certainly needed a touch of moderation. Mindfully, I refined these larger-than-life tunes, preserving the authentic feel, but eliminating any superfluous sections. More of this editing can be seen in the fourth volume of the best classic circuit anthems series. Rest assured, these minimal adjustments won't rob you of your cherished dance floor memories.
The Thunderpuss remix of hit classic circuit anthem, New York City Boy, remains true to the tradition of stirring passions on the dance floor while our sweaty gay brothers raised their hands to the chorus screaming "VODKA, VODKA" at the top of our lungs. And just like the previous entries in this collection of the best classic circuit anthems — these songs were EPIC party anthems!
As we move into next week, get ready for the official Party Favorz Gay Pride 2014 line-up, and potentially the final two sets of this series or the 2014 Catch-Up, featuring the year's biggest dance songs so far. I'm racing against the clock to get the latter done, so its release depends on my progress. Either way, both these collections will hit your playlists by the end of the month. Plus, there's a fresh Beach House set scheduled for early July to bring all your summer dance floor dreams to life!
I’ll be back next week, around Thursday or Friday at the latest, with your official 2014 Pride edition, guaranteed to keep the party going. Until then, enjoy the best classic circuit anthems and keep dancing!

Classic Circuit & Anthems Megamix — Ooh La La
Friday Jun 06, 2014
Friday Jun 06, 2014
Experience the thrill of classic circuit anthems as Party Favorz takes you on an unforgettable musical ride. After much anticipation, we have carefully curated a collection of four epic non-stop music sets that embody the true essence of this genre. Brace yourself for Ooh La la, the first installment in our series, and get ready for an EPIC experience!
During the late 90s and the first eight years of the new millennium, DJs unleashed a wave of massive, drama-filled remixes onto the dance floor. This trend had its origins in the mid-90s, with early works by renowned DJ Tony Moran and Junior Vasquez. The only challenge they faced was how to handle the drop.
Often, these remixes would reach a pause about two-thirds of the way through, leaving dancers wondering where the track was headed. Skilled live DJs would skillfully mix out of the song at this moment, only for it to reload with the final chorus. However, in 1999, Hex Hector revolutionized the game with his groundbreaking remix of Jennifer Lopez's "Waiting For Tonight." This track, with its slow builds leading to a monumental peak, followed by a breathtaking drop and another gradual ascent to the "ultimate climax," was a game-changer. It was like reaching the edge of ecstasy, holding back, and then slowly building up again before an explosive release. This was no ordinary song—it kept the dance floor sizzling with anticipation until its heart-pounding, sweaty conclusion. It was pure HOT SEX on the dance floor.
Our upcoming sets encapsulate the magic created by some of the most influential DJs of the early millennium. From the drama-filled tracks to the hands-in-the-air happy anthems, these sets represent the monumental works of DJs like Hex Hector, Thunderpuss, Jonathan Peters, Victor Calderone, and Peter Rauhofer (amongst others) who were at the forefront of this dancefloor movement. Although this collection is far from exhaustive, it serves as a fantastic starting point. Party Favorz pays tribute to their historic contributions by bringing them together for your present and future enjoyment.
Let's take a step back to the not-so-distant past and relive the exhilarating moments we had dancing to these monumental anthems. Prepare to be enthralled and immerse yourself in the infectious beats of Classic Circuit Anthems. Get ready to ENJOY!

The EDM Sessions | June 2014
Sunday Jun 01, 2014
Sunday Jun 01, 2014
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYBODY! Okay, okay … this set was scheduled for Friday morning delivery but due to space limitations on my new host, I had to wait until today when it resets. Better late than never, cause this shit SLAMS!
Party Favorz is a one-man operation that never rests! I work hard to bring you the biggest, best and most promising dance music so you don’t have to. Given all the work that went on and will continue for the next few months pulling everything together on the new site, I had been a little lax in my posting. last week, I dropped Gay Days for the circuit boys and this week I’m dropping a brand-spanking new EDM set full of delicious big room beats and lots of drops.
This set starts off a little slow but quickly picks up steam about halfway through. Lots of great new stuff in here and my personal fav of the moment is Matthew Koma’s “Wasted.” Think of it as a modern twist on the Pet Shop Boys “You Only Love Me When You’re Drunk.” Of course, I’ve been all over the Fedde Le Grande remix of Michael Jackson’s “Love Never Felt So Good,” ever since it was announced. Despite what Lance Bass and his side-kick Giggles, Wiggles, Tickles or whatever her name is said a couple of weeks ago on Dirty Pop, Ariana Grande & Iggy Azalea’s “Problem” is a massive thumper, not the two thumbs down they gave it. Frankly, if they’re going to be hosting a show about pop culture, they need to get with the program and understand what the fuck they’re talking about. In the same show, they gave these three rather mediocre or flat-out lame songs the thumbs up. I was practically screaming like a wild man in my car when I heard this blasphemy.
Out of all the tunes included here, Daft Punk’s “Derezzed” is quite possibly the most uninspired work they could possibly conjure up, including Avicii’s tame remix of the song. Step in Chris Cox to punch it up and save it from drowning in its own blandness. Of course, we got Katy’s latest and a new one from Ellie Goulding, who I personally think can do no wrong. I’m not sure why, but I just adore this woman even though I don’t keep up with all the latest happenings in the lives of artists, stars or otherwise. I just seem to consistently feel her work whenever it comes across my conscious.
You may very well want to stay close to the site and make sure to follow me in any which way you choose. There is no shortage of options to get your Party Favorz delivered in a manner that’s convenient to your lifestyle. For those that have been asking for it, Party Favorz is now listed by category in iTunes. The only two missing are the Diva Hall of Fame, which will never be listed and Gay Pride, which will be fixed and listed by the end of the week. June is going to be a VERY busy month around here and I don’t want anybody missing out on all the goodness heading your way.
I hope everybody has a fabulous weekend and I’ll be back with some more crazy-good love next week. Until then …ENJOY!

It Gets Better | Gay Pride Classics Megamix
Saturday May 24, 2014
Saturday May 24, 2014
We are in the final stretch of Pride month and I decided to take a bit of a U-turn. I had been working on a t-dance set for the final mix, but it just wasn’t coming together for me. I’ll likely take many of those songs and incorporate them into the summer Beach House mix for later in July.
Frankly, it’s gone from hectic last week to stressful this week. As I was perusing my collection of gay anthems, it dawned on me that I had made a set of five Pride classics mixes last year at this time. I don’t remember what I said in that post but it was likely that I wanted to put a final nail in the coffin of these mixes.
Over the years, I’ve done quite a few and while they’re always fun to make, it does start to get a bit old. Since the old site is no longer active, I decided to re-post those mixes for the newbies among you. I promise that this will be the final time I post “classic” anthems so your best downloading and storing these for good measure.
So here’s the deal…I’m sending two of them up today, another two tomorrow and the final one on Friday. Folks, there will be more than enough here for you to throw your own Pride party all weekend long.
Those of you celebrating Pride this weekend (the ATL doesn’t have it until early October) grab these and get yourself in the mood for some serious P-ARTY-ING!
I’ll be back tomorrow with another two. Until then, ENJOY

Gay Days 2014
Friday May 23, 2014
Friday May 23, 2014
Oh, HAPPY GAY DAYS are here again! It’s the Memorial Day Holiday weekend, the last Monday of May and the official kick-off to June Pride Month! There are a whole host of gay happenings this weekend throughout the U.S. most notably in Pensacola, the one place to be if you're on the east coast. The official Gay Days in Orlando kicks-off on June 3rd and it appears this year they are expanding the brand to include Ft. Lauderdale and Las Vegas (the latter increasingly becoming a very gay destination for us gay folk).
In an effort to ensure you have everything you need this weekend, Party Favorz is putting out a set of tribal-lust that’s certain to get you all pumped up for whatever your plans are this weekend.
The adorable Jason Walker kicks the set off with his remake of the Taylor Dayne classic Tell It To My Heart, a song that is so steeped in 80s dance it would be hard to imagine anyone tackling this song and making it fresh but leave it to Jason to pull it off. Toy Armada and DJ Grind who have been spitting out a dizzying whirl of fresh productions take the prize with their big room circuit rendition of the song. Though, I have to give major props to DJ Yiannis who delivers an 80s revival with a millennial twist in his production.
Andy Bell, one half of Erasure puts out a fresh original with Dave Aude at the helm that’s destined for big things on the dance floor this summer season. Ralphi Rosario gives the song his signature electro-tribe feel but watch out for Australia’s duo Denzal Park who pack in a massive EDM production, which is going to appear on our set coming out next weekend.
Danny Verde is still keeping things strong with two fresh mash-ups; one from Queen Madonna’s Vogue and the other with the CeCe Peniston house classic Finally. Our good friend Joel Dickinson also put out his own Pride mix of Finally, which is equally good and may very well find it’s way onto an upcoming Pride Classic set coming your way very soon.
Matt Consola who is all over the place these days brings us no less than three burners, which washes down like an ice-cold beer on a hot summer day. One of my biggest delights and surprise finds is Division 4 (formerly Red Tape) who works with Matt on a couple of songs but more importantly, has a HUGE library of amazing 80s and 90s reworks on his SoundCloud page. It’s a wonder how he’s been kept a secret for so long. These mixes are parked right next to his excellent productions of current hits so you can trust when I say you’ll be seeing more of his work on this site in future sets.
For those that may have missed my Gay Pride Classics sets over the past couple of years, they are officially getting re-posted later today. I went back and made some minor changes to two of them and some major changes to one of them that I can pretty much guarantee that those who already have them, won’t want to miss out on.
That’s enough babble for the moment. I hope everyone has a fresh and fun-filled weekend. I personally have to work Saturday and Sunday but will try to make up for that on Sunday evening as I’m off on Monday hehehe. Until we meet again …ENJOY!

Beyoncé 2.0 | The Diva Series
Friday May 16, 2014
Friday May 16, 2014
Kicking off your weekend with a BANG with the second induction into the Diva Hall of Fame featuring the super-fab Mrs. Carter, otherwise known as Beyoncé or just plain ole Bey if you're nasty. Oh wait, that was another diva, never mind.
With all the brouhaha over her baby sister Solange going mental on Jay-Z, this set will be a nice little distraction from what frankly ain’t none of your damn business. Speculate all you want as to what was going on in the elevator, but B played the proper diva and stood there composed (likely because she knows Big Brother is watching). Welcome to the world we live in, where everybody is up in your shit with cameras, smartphones, Google Earth, and Google glass.
This set covers a wide swath of genres, which is NOT the easiest thing in the world to do. It’s been a work in progress all year long and with the release of some solid remixes from her self-titled release (trust me, those were hard to come by), I was finally able to put this together and make it WORK! Two snaps and a twirl for me.
Not unlike Madonna or Mariah, Beyonce has become a veritable industry in and of herself. From marketing to imagery and everything that bears her name in between, the woman is working her assets off!
No doubt some good folks got stepped on along the way (see my write-up on Diana) but when you don’t want IT enough, you’re bound to get shoved to the side. Just sayin'.
I realize you folks are about Diva-ed out and I’m in the process of moving download links over to the new site along with streaming players. So expect something new next week, just in time for your Memorial Day weekend celebrations and beyond.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

The Loleatta Holloway Dance Music Tribute: Celebrating an Icon
Friday May 16, 2014
Friday May 16, 2014
Dominant. Revered. RESPECTED. When you talk about Loleatta Holloway, these are some of the adjectives used when people discuss her legacy. Never duplicated but often imitated and ad nauseam. Considered the Queen of Salsoul in the mid-70s and early 80s, Loleatta Holloway has had more DJs sample her music than any other artist in modern history.
Well known for her ad-lib prowess during recording sessions, Miss Holloway would get on a roll during the drop and just keep going and going. It was fitting that Gold Mine (a subsidiary of Salsoul Records) included the full eleven-minute version of Hit and Run on her third album, where at the end you hear the producer say “okay, now let’s do the album version.”
By themselves, Love Sensation and Dreamin' are classic songs permanently etched into the annals of disco history. Picked apart, these songs have provided some of the most memorable recreations of entirely new dance floor mayhem from the 90s through today. Love Sensation has gone on to be the most sampled song in the last 30 years, further proving its singular importance to the genre which propelled it to the top of the charts.
In 1991, producer Dan Hartman (Relight My Fire; Love Sensation) and Loleatta sued UK act Black Box for using her vocals without permission on their worldwide hit Ride On Time. They ultimately settled for an undisclosed amount and Miss Holloway was given full credit on subsequent pressings of the album.
Despite considering herself a ballad singer (Cry To Me; Worn Out Broken Heart) there is no doubt about the important role Miss Holloway played in the disco genre, which ultimately bled into 90s house music. For a thorough recount of Loleatta Holloway's life history, avoid the rather lame Wikipedia entry about her life and jump on over to the excellent biography from the UK’s Guardian newspaper.
Borrowing from the saying “there is more than one way to skin a cat,” there is no doubt Miss Holloway will continue to pop up in deliciously new dance floor incarnations from time to time. This is a true testament to her Diva stature. We here at Party Favorz not only worships this woman but honor her memory.

Nadia Ali | The Diva Series

Saturday May 10, 2014
In 2001, Nadia Ali was the frontwoman and principal songwriter for the duo Iio (pronounced “eye-oh”), who took the world by storm with their international smash Rapture. They released a series of singles culminating in the release of a full album titled Poetica, in 2005. That same year, Nadia left the group to pursue a solo career.
Nadia is notable for her distinct vocals with a middle-eastern tinge despite growing up in Brooklyn. Her first album saw four singles released with the second Love Story topping the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart.
Since that time, Nadia has collaborated with some of the biggest DJs in the world and has virtually ensured her position as the Queen of Electronica.
While some of the company she’ll be holding ground with may make an exception to the title of “Queen of Anything,” (watch your back with Miss Ross), there is no denying her status as the Diva of Electronica.
Party Favorz would like to honor Miss Ali by inducting her into the Diva Hall of Fame. Nadia is currently working on a second album titled Phoenix and in all likelihood be inducted again at a future date.
Attention, if you have no clue who she is, download this puppy, hit play, and turn it LOUD! I promise you’ll quickly become a convert.
Until the next time...ENJOY!
Donate and keep the party going!
