EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

It’s now the circuit boys turn to bat. Overly hyped but seldom maligned, I’m bringing you the Summer Edition 2013.
I managed to birth this puppy pretty quick as everything just fell together quite nicely. Heck, I even managed to keep it under 80 minutes for the CD burners that still exist among us.
Just browse the tracklist and you're certain to get a woody once you see who made the cut LOL.
I’ve gotta get ready for work so I’m keeping this one short.
Any self-respecting Madonna fan knows that next Friday is her birthday. In honor of the 4-time inductee into the Diva Hall of Fame, I’ve declared this next week starting on Sunday Madonna Week. That’s right! In keeping with the spirit of this newly created illegitimate HOLIDAY, Party Favorz will be posting some very rare sets that haven’t seen the light of day since 2009, followed by a brand spanking new set by weeks end.
So strap on your crucifix and lace panties on because it’s time to CELEBRATE!

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’M BACK! Let’s just call the last three week the Great Computer Meltdown of 2013. This was a first for me based on the last three computer builds. Apparently, the stock Intel heatsinks that come with the i7 processor (can’t speak to the others) is faulty and didn’t connect squarely with the processor to keep it cool. I won’t bother with the remaining details because it really just pisses me off to no end.
This set was pretty much sealed prior to (see above) but once I got back online (yesterday) I picked up some new promos and decided a few in the mix were already old. Yup, in my world of EDM, one day you're in and the next you’re out.
Why bother going into what a kick-ass set this is because it’s Party Favorz and you know it’s gonna SMOKE!
Stay close to the updates either by email, RSS, Facebook or any of the other myriad of ways to follow me cause I got a lot to get off my chest between now and the end of next week. More on that as I continue to post.
Hope everyone’s summer is going swell and I’ll be checking back in very soon with another set. Until then …ENJOY!

A Blend of Disco House and Funky House Grooves — Get Lucky
Wednesday Jul 03, 2013
Wednesday Jul 03, 2013
In the spirit of changing fortunes and finding those elusive moments of serendipity, welcome to "Get Lucky," a sonic journey that promises an eclectic fusion of Disco House, Funky House, and NuDisco. The set, which originally served as an alternative to my annual Beach House series, comes at a peculiar yet perfect time. As we navigate a summer of contrasting experiences—fiery heat for some and relentless rain for others—this mix becomes an oasis, setting a mood that can transcend any weather.
So, why the switch from Beach House to more flexible naming conventions? Simply put, it keeps things fresh, allowing for more variety when crafting the cover art. Think of it as a small twist that adds a new layer of excitement, similar to the mix itself.
Speaking of the mix, it showcases a distinct blend of genres. For instance, Prok & Fitch's "Here Comes The Noise" provides a robust Disco House influence. The unmistakable groove of Funky House shines through in Horny United's "You Drive Me Crazy," while Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" offers a taste of NuDisco that's hard to resist. This mix is crafted not just to be heard but felt, making it a versatile companion whether you're beating the heat or dancing in the rain.

The coming week is somewhat of a mystery as I step back to evaluate what's next. One thing's for sure—an EDM set and the ever-popular Summer Edition are likely to appear soon. Until then, this collection serves as a unique, mood-enhancing experience that resonates regardless of your location or the weather outside.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Celebrating the Freemasons: A Dance Tribute to Ignite Your Summer of Pride
Friday Jun 28, 2013
Friday Jun 28, 2013
As Loleatta once sang, "I'm Ride On Time." With that timeless nod to diva legend, it's clear we're about to step into something fabulous. In the spirit of Pride and all things dance-worthy, we're diving into a tribute mix dedicated to the Freemasons, the masterminds behind some of our all-time favorite gay anthems.
The Freemasons are not just any production team; they're sonic alchemists. They take classics and retrofit them with 21st-century sheen so impeccably, you'd think they were always meant to be heard that way. For anyone familiar with their work, they turn the dance floor into a revivalist altar, where divas—past and present—bask in a whole new kind of limelight.
Freemasons have a knack for crafting tracks that feel both contemporary and timeless. Take their remix of George Michael's sultry "I Want Your Sex" for instance. What was once a taboo-smashing tune in the late 80s gets a euphoric update, making it as relevant as ever.
Then there's the song that catapulted Freemasons into the spotlight: "Love On My Mind," featuring the compelling vocals of Amanda Wilson, isn't just a Freemasons original. Oh no, it's a masterful nod to the disco era, sampling the infectious beats of Jackie Moore's Disco classic, "This Time Baby." In one track, Freemasons give us the best of both worlds: the allure of a bygone era and the fresh energy of modern dance music.
Let's talk about their reworking of Faith Evans' "Mesmerized." The original was soulful and gritty, but in the hands of Freemasons, it became a soaring anthem of desire. And if that's not enough to prove their versatility, let's not forget their classic "When You Touch Me," featuring Katherine Ellis. This track is more than just a banger; it's a masterclass in building and releasing tension, all with the backing of Miss Ellis' powerful voice.
Speaking of powerful voices, "Turn Me On" by Dirty Old Ann features the powerhouse vocals of Kathy Brown, and while the original was a floor scorcher in the 90s, the Freemasons remix is where the track truly comes alive. The Freemasons didn't just tweak a few things; they revolutionized the song, injecting an electric pulse that makes it impossible not to dance. This isn't just a remix—it's a complete transformation that arguably eclipses the original. It perfectly showcases the Freemasons' knack for taking a song and elevating it into an unforgettable experience.
And then there's Beyoncé's "Green Light." Queen Bey already brings a lot of firepower on her own, but add in Freemasons, and you've got an inferno. The Freemasons remix adds an irresistible beat and a dash of groove that wasn't there before, making it an instant hit on the dance floor. It’s like a green light for your dancing feet—go, go, go!
Last but certainly not least, let's chat about "Love Sensation '06" by Loleatta Holloway. Talk about coming full circle! This track is an update to Holloway’s original disco classic from 1980, which, as we know, was heavily sampled by Black Box for "Ride On Time." But in this 2006 version, it's like Loleatta takes back her crown, especially with Freemasons at the helm. They bring that modern electro-house vibe, essentially reclaiming the essence of the original and giving it a fresh 2000s twist.
It's no exaggeration to say that these tracks become not just songs but anthems when the Freemasons lay their hands on them. And that's what makes this tribute mix such a gem: it's a celebration of dance music, both classic and contemporary, elevated by the Freemasons' genius.
Now, if you're new around these Party Favorz parts and wondering where to dig into this duo's brilliant work, worry not. For a deeper experience, dive into our "Catching Up with Freemasons" volumes 1 & 2 to appreciate the depth of their genius. Trust me, this is the best introduction into their world.
So, as we celebrate Pride, or just the joy of being fabulous any time of the year, let's do it with the sort of music that helps us be FREE,...

7th Heaven: An Unstoppable Force Behind Iconic Gay Anthems [A Tribute Mix]
Thursday Jun 27, 2013
Thursday Jun 27, 2013
In the realm of remixing and production, few names command the dance floor like 7th Heaven Remix and Productions. If you were grooving to any club anthems, especially gay anthems around 2013, you'd likely have come across their work. Known for their extraordinary skill in modernizing Hi-NRG tunes, 7th Heaven has etched their signature into the heartbeats of dance floors worldwide. Their influence transcends stereotypes and caters to an audience that's as diverse as the LGBTQ+ community itself.
Let's delve a bit into 7th Heaven's history, shall we? Originally from the UK, 7th Heaven has been a trendsetter in the remix and production circuit. They have a knack for taking already catchy tunes and elevating them to new heights—making them not just danceable but downright irresistible.
Consider Scarlette Fever's "Cheating Man." In the hands of 7th Heaven, what was already a stirring track gets a pulsating beat and anthemic feel that makes it a staple in any self-respecting DJ's playlist. Then there's the brilliant rework of "Hey (Nah Nah Nah)" by Milk & Sugar vs. Vaya Con Dios. It takes an ear for genius to turn this song into a dance floor magnet, and 7th Heaven nails it.
A big shout-out should go to their remix of "Let The Sunshine In" by the 49ers featuring Ann-Marie Smith. The original was good, but 7th Heaven transformed it into a dazzling, uplifting anthem that feels like the musical equivalent of a Pride flag unfurling. Speaking of classics, who could forget their 2007 version of Eartha Kitt's "Where Is My Man"? That remix was nothing short of a masterclass in how to rejuvenate a classic without losing its original charm.
The list doesn't end there. Their work on "A Higher Place" by Peyton is another glowing example of how well 7th Heaven understands the ebb and flow of a dance track, filling it with soaring synths that perfectly complement Peyton's vocals. And let's not overlook their take on Rozalla's "Everybody's Free" under the project name Kortezman. The remix balances nostalgia and modernity in a way that only 7th Heaven can.
Now, given the depth and breadth of their portfolio, what you're reading here is but a condensed tribute to 7th Heaven's expansive impact. Rest assured, a more exhaustive tribute to this iconic production company is in the pipeline because they deserve nothing less. Their contributions to the dance music scene, particularly gay anthems, deserve more than just a nod; they warrant a full-blown celebration.
As we relish these timeless remixes, let's do it with the understanding that 7th Heaven is not just a part of the playlist but a defining element of a culture that allows us all to be a little more free, a little more expressive, and a lot more united on the dance floor.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Almighty Records: The Definitive Dance Anthems Tribute
Wednesday Jun 26, 2013
Wednesday Jun 26, 2013
As Katherine Jenkins once belted out in her operatic splendor, "Who Wants To Live Forever?" Well, when it comes to the legacy of Almighty Records, the answer is clear: their remixes and productions are designed to stand the test of time, especially in the LGBTQ+ community. It's not every day that a label can boast a catalog so imbued with enduring gay anthems and pulsating beats that lift us onto the dance floor.
Founded in the late 1980s, Almighty Records has crafted a legacy that resonates powerfully within dance music culture. They've been uniquely adept at straddling eras, blending classics from yesteryear with modern Hi-NRG vibes. This sonic time-travel is not just an art; it's a homage to the soundtracks of our lives. And it's why Almighty Records deserves a sprawling tribute—which we promise, is in the pipeline.
To kick off this miniature celebration, let's delve into some songs that truly encapsulate what Almighty Records is all about. Take The Dream Girls' "When Will I See You Again," for instance. It's a remake of the Three Degrees' soul classic from the early '70s. The track has been rejuvenated with buoyant beats that amplify its nostalgic charm without erasing its soulful roots.
Then there's Kimberly Locke's rendition of "Band of Gold," originally s Soul hit by Freda Payne in 1970. This version retains the original's emotive narrative while injecting it with a vivacious energy tailored for modern dance floors.
You've also got the undeniable Hi-NRG '80s classic "So Many Men, So Little Time" by Miquel Brown. The song retains its essence, but Almighty's treatment elevates it into a frenetic anthem that can still send a ripple of excitement through a crowded room of sweaty gay men.
The label's versatility shines through in their update of Diana Ross's "The Boss" and their original remix of Kylie Minogue's "Your Disco Needs You"—two numbers that don't just get the party started; they define it. Whether you're a Diana devotee or part of Kylie's Krew, these remixes serve as rallying cries for everyone to hit the dance floor.
Almighty Records even extends its magic touch to icons like the Pet Shop Boys with "New York City Boy," magnifying the song's narrative of youthful exploration and urban enchantment with an inescapable beat.
Speaking of inescapable, who could forget Martha Wash's "It's Raining Men"? While we miss the late Izora Armstead her partner in the Weather Girls, this reimagined Disco classic captures the original's effervescence, giving us all permission to dance like no one's watching.
And let's not forget Jennifer Holliday's iconic "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going," with freshly resung vocals. Almighty Records takes us on a voyage back to the days of "Dreamgirls" while reminding us that some divas, and some anthems, are simply irreplaceable.
Last but not least, Cher's "Believe," receives the Almighty treatment, retaining all the magic that made it one of the most significant gay anthems ever. In essence, it’s a track that doesn’t just make you believe in life after love, but also in the timeless power of dance music.
In the end, this condensed tribute is just a primer. Almighty Records has decades of history that have shaped the soundtracks of many a Pride event and club night. Keep your eyes peeled for a more proper tribute to this musical powerhouse. Because, like the anthems they've immortalized, Almighty Records isn't going anywhere.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Gay PRIDE 2013 Volume 2 | EDM
Monday Jun 17, 2013
Monday Jun 17, 2013
Playing catchup this morning, I’m finally serving up the second set of Pride 2013 EDM.
For those that haven’t quite figured it out yet, this and it’s companion set Pride 2013 v1 are comprised of some of the best in electronic dance so far this year coupled with brand-spanking numbers hand-picked by your humble host as surefire winners this summer season.
I closed it out with two of my current favorite songs, which by all accounts are laid-back and breezy. I had posted the video for Chris Malinchak’s So Good To Me several weeks ago and decided to drop in the slightly punchier Steve Smart & Westfunk Mix and then tapped it off with Easy by Mat Zo & Porter Robinson. If the latter name sounds familiar, it should. Porter’s Language was my pick for one of the best songs from 2012. Here, he and Mat deliver a carefree song that will win over even the staunchest anti-EDM detractor.
They do need to give credit where it’s due; the song relies very heavily on a familiar synth rip that if you’re a song history buff like me strikes a very similar chord to Steve Winwood’s While You See a Chance (one of my all-time favorite tracks), which is probably why I was so drawn to it. However, I don’t judge; a good riff is a good riff when used to create your own song.
Next up, I’ll be serving up a set geared towards my circuit boyz and that one is a MONSTER! I previously posted on Facebook that I wanted to break something after my first take and after previewing the end result, I was dead-on (though managed to restrain myself breaking anything LOL).
At the end of the week, I’ve got a delightful throwback to Hi NRG classics and anthems for the true diehard Pride enthusiast amongst us.
That’s it for now and until my next post …ENJOY!

Gay PRIDE 2013 Volume 1 | EDM
Wednesday Jun 12, 2013
Wednesday Jun 12, 2013
As we wait for historic rulings to be handed down by the SCOTUS, this year’s Pride could potentially be one of the most significant in its 40-year history. While nobody expects them to wave a magic wand and make marriage equality the law of the land, most (including your humble host) are anticipating very narrow rulings in the three cases they are deciding that will have a significant impact on the unconstitutional laws against same-sex marriage that have been embedded in many state constitutions as well as federal law.
Some key factors to look at are whether the California Prop 8 proponents (let’s just call them homophobic bigots) have standing to challenge that states reversal of the discriminatory law, which allowed the majority to vote on the rights of a minority. Without getting bogged down in the minutia, if they throw it back to Cali thus upholding marriage equality in that state, you can bet there will be multiple challenges in other states discriminatory laws.
The other two cases deal more with the withholding of federal benefits, taxes, health care etc. for same-sex partners that our straight counterparts enjoy. While they aren’t likely to flat out invalidate DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) they could find that denying a subset of the population these benefits is unconstitutional, thus paving way for a repeal of the law or further challenges that would ultimately do away with it once and for all.
I am not a legal scholar nor do I pretend to be. I’m just trying to relay what’s going on in the best way that I understand it and hopefully in a way my followers can as well. All eyes will be on their ruling(s) in the coming weeks and I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enough said! Now let’s get down to the business of the music. Plenty more where this came from so I’ll just let it go from here and everybody else just sit back and as always …ENJOY!

Rihanna | The Diva Series
Wednesday Jun 05, 2013
Wednesday Jun 05, 2013
It’s time for one final induction into the Diva Hall of Fame and Party Favorz is more than pleased to finally honor the one and only Rihanna.
Having moved from Barbados to the United States at the age of 16, RiRi began recording demos until her introduction to Jay-z, then head of Def Jam Recordings who ultimately signed her.
The first single Pon de Replay taken from her debut album was a top ten hit followed by her second album with the #1 hit SOS. When her third album Good Girl Gone Bad came out all bets were off. Def Jam put a hefty amount of support and promotion behind that album including a dance remix album accompanied by its initial release. Umbrella was a certified smash, which solidified RiRi’s stature as an international superstar. She can thank Mary J. Blige for passing on that song when it was first offered to her. That track was followed up by other hit singles Take A Bow, Disturbia and, Don’t Stop the Music, which sampled Michael Jackson’s Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, and further solidified her popularity.
I don’t see any point in re-hashing her relationship with Chris Brown as she’s a grown woman and can make her own decisions (even if a good majority of folks disagree). You can hit the gossip sites for that crap. Equally, not much point in listing all of her accomplishments and hit singles. While not completely comprehensive, this set is damn near close. For cohesive reasons, a few songs were left off though Tony Moran and Chris Cox's popular mixes would likely resurface on a future RiRi set.
While this may be RiRi’s first induction, it certainly won’t be her last. It’s likely time for her to release a greatest hits comp with a couple of new singles by the end of the year and then follow that up with a massive world tour, but who am I to say? Whatever she does, it will no doubt be a massive success. At this point, I would like to welcome Rihanna into the Diva Hall of Fame, where she is amongst good friends and serious heavyweights.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Britney Spears 2013 | The Diva Series
Thursday May 30, 2013
Thursday May 30, 2013
IT’S BRITNEY BITCH! The former Musketeer who burst onto the scene donning a pedophile’s wet dream schoolgirl outfit and now a mother of two is on top of the world these days. No doubt it has been on a roller coaster ride for Britney Spears ever since her meltdown three albums ago. These days, the diva is focused and has become a tour de force in the music industry.
With a new album on the way (produced by her S&S partner Will.I.Am) and a long-running stint in Las Vegas to follow, her star has never shown so bright.
This is the second induction into the Diva Hall of Fame for Miss B. and is well deserved. Britney has put out a massive catalog of hits that have kept us nodding our heads and shaking our asses for well over a decade now. Love her or hate her, there is no denying her worldwide success.
Originally when I first sat down to go over my Britney catalog of dance music, I was pretty certain I would take it into the EDM direction her music has evolved over the past several years. Once I got started, it was clear I had other thoughts about what would work. Ultimately, the final product is a circuit lover's dream. For the most part, the electrosugarpop tracks are ensconced by big tribal bangers that support the whole set like a tight belt holding up a pair of baggy jeans.
Party Favorz welcomes Britney Spears back into the Diva Hall of Fame and looks forward to her future endeavors as she has set herself up to have the long-running career that Madonna and Kylie Minogue have maintained now for decades. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome …Britney!

Christina Aguilera | The Diva Series
Monday May 27, 2013
Monday May 27, 2013
To kick things off, the one and only Christina Aguilera is being re-inducted to the Diva Hall of Fame and by all accounts, she fits the true definition of a DIVA. The attitude, the voice, and the looks were all on full display during her three-year run as a coach on The Voice. You can credit that stent on the show for putting her back into the spotlight.
Since the release of Bionic and its subsequent pan by critics (whether justified or not … I think not) and a star turn in the mega-flop Burlesque (alongside three-time Diva Hall of Fame inductee Cher), her star power started to rapidly fade. Coupling that with some seriously added poundage, led folks to believe she just wasn't all that into it anymore, or worse, experiencing serious depression.
Her follow-up album Lotus didn't fare much better and despite a loyal following, people began to scratch their heads and wonder what the hell was going on. Fortunately, high-profile collaborations with Maroon 5 and Pitbull have kept her on the charts not to mention a return to The Voice this fall should maintain that momentum.
Far be it for me to make any suggestions about her music career but I’m gonna anyway. If she wants to be relevant, she will have to adapt to the current scene on the radio. I’d suggest working with William Orbit, Benny Benassi, or Calvin Harris (actually all of them) on her next project. She can still be Christina but these producers know their shit and could easily shape a new sound and image for Miss X. Take it for what it’s worth, but putting out another dated formulaic album will be the final nail in her coffin.
WOW! I didn’t mean for this induction to come off so harsh we absolutely adore Xtina. So that being said, Party Favorz honors the woman, the voice, the TRUE DIVA, and all that she has contributed to our lives. Without further ado, please welcome Xtina a.k.a. Christina Aguilera! XOXOXO
