EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.

7th Heaven: An Unstoppable Force Behind Iconic Gay Anthems [A Tribute Mix]
Thursday Jun 27, 2013
Thursday Jun 27, 2013
In the realm of remixing and production, few names command the dance floor like 7th Heaven Remix and Productions. If you were grooving to any club anthems, especially gay anthems around 2013, you'd likely have come across their work. Known for their extraordinary skill in modernizing Hi-NRG tunes, 7th Heaven has etched their signature into the heartbeats of dance floors worldwide. Their influence transcends stereotypes and caters to an audience that's as diverse as the LGBTQ+ community itself.
Let's delve a bit into 7th Heaven's history, shall we? Originally from the UK, 7th Heaven has been a trendsetter in the remix and production circuit. They have a knack for taking already catchy tunes and elevating them to new heights—making them not just danceable but downright irresistible.
Consider Scarlette Fever's "Cheating Man." In the hands of 7th Heaven, what was already a stirring track gets a pulsating beat and anthemic feel that makes it a staple in any self-respecting DJ's playlist. Then there's the brilliant rework of "Hey (Nah Nah Nah)" by Milk & Sugar vs. Vaya Con Dios. It takes an ear for genius to turn this song into a dance floor magnet, and 7th Heaven nails it.
A big shout-out should go to their remix of "Let The Sunshine In" by the 49ers featuring Ann-Marie Smith. The original was good, but 7th Heaven transformed it into a dazzling, uplifting anthem that feels like the musical equivalent of a Pride flag unfurling. Speaking of classics, who could forget their 2007 version of Eartha Kitt's "Where Is My Man"? That remix was nothing short of a masterclass in how to rejuvenate a classic without losing its original charm.
The list doesn't end there. Their work on "A Higher Place" by Peyton is another glowing example of how well 7th Heaven understands the ebb and flow of a dance track, filling it with soaring synths that perfectly complement Peyton's vocals. And let's not overlook their take on Rozalla's "Everybody's Free" under the project name Kortezman. The remix balances nostalgia and modernity in a way that only 7th Heaven can.
Now, given the depth and breadth of their portfolio, what you're reading here is but a condensed tribute to 7th Heaven's expansive impact. Rest assured, a more exhaustive tribute to this iconic production company is in the pipeline because they deserve nothing less. Their contributions to the dance music scene, particularly gay anthems, deserve more than just a nod; they warrant a full-blown celebration.
As we relish these timeless remixes, let's do it with the understanding that 7th Heaven is not just a part of the playlist but a defining element of a culture that allows us all to be a little more free, a little more expressive, and a lot more united on the dance floor.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Almighty Records: The Definitive Dance Anthems Tribute
Wednesday Jun 26, 2013
Wednesday Jun 26, 2013
As Katherine Jenkins once belted out in her operatic splendor, "Who Wants To Live Forever?" Well, when it comes to the legacy of Almighty Records, the answer is clear: their remixes and productions are designed to stand the test of time, especially in the LGBTQ+ community. It's not every day that a label can boast a catalog so imbued with enduring gay anthems and pulsating beats that lift us onto the dance floor.
Founded in the late 1980s, Almighty Records has crafted a legacy that resonates powerfully within dance music culture. They've been uniquely adept at straddling eras, blending classics from yesteryear with modern Hi-NRG vibes. This sonic time-travel is not just an art; it's a homage to the soundtracks of our lives. And it's why Almighty Records deserves a sprawling tribute—which we promise, is in the pipeline.
To kick off this miniature celebration, let's delve into some songs that truly encapsulate what Almighty Records is all about. Take The Dream Girls' "When Will I See You Again," for instance. It's a remake of the Three Degrees' soul classic from the early '70s. The track has been rejuvenated with buoyant beats that amplify its nostalgic charm without erasing its soulful roots.
Then there's Kimberly Locke's rendition of "Band of Gold," originally s Soul hit by Freda Payne in 1970. This version retains the original's emotive narrative while injecting it with a vivacious energy tailored for modern dance floors.
You've also got the undeniable Hi-NRG '80s classic "So Many Men, So Little Time" by Miquel Brown. The song retains its essence, but Almighty's treatment elevates it into a frenetic anthem that can still send a ripple of excitement through a crowded room of sweaty gay men.
The label's versatility shines through in their update of Diana Ross's "The Boss" and their original remix of Kylie Minogue's "Your Disco Needs You"—two numbers that don't just get the party started; they define it. Whether you're a Diana devotee or part of Kylie's Krew, these remixes serve as rallying cries for everyone to hit the dance floor.
Almighty Records even extends its magic touch to icons like the Pet Shop Boys with "New York City Boy," magnifying the song's narrative of youthful exploration and urban enchantment with an inescapable beat.
Speaking of inescapable, who could forget Martha Wash's "It's Raining Men"? While we miss the late Izora Armstead her partner in the Weather Girls, this reimagined Disco classic captures the original's effervescence, giving us all permission to dance like no one's watching.
And let's not forget Jennifer Holliday's iconic "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going," with freshly resung vocals. Almighty Records takes us on a voyage back to the days of "Dreamgirls" while reminding us that some divas, and some anthems, are simply irreplaceable.
Last but not least, Cher's "Believe," receives the Almighty treatment, retaining all the magic that made it one of the most significant gay anthems ever. In essence, it’s a track that doesn’t just make you believe in life after love, but also in the timeless power of dance music.
In the end, this condensed tribute is just a primer. Almighty Records has decades of history that have shaped the soundtracks of many a Pride event and club night. Keep your eyes peeled for a more proper tribute to this musical powerhouse. Because, like the anthems they've immortalized, Almighty Records isn't going anywhere.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Gay PRIDE 2013 Volume 2 | EDM
Monday Jun 17, 2013
Monday Jun 17, 2013
Playing catchup this morning, I’m finally serving up the second set of Pride 2013 EDM.
For those that haven’t quite figured it out yet, this and it’s companion set Pride 2013 v1 are comprised of some of the best in electronic dance so far this year coupled with brand-spanking numbers hand-picked by your humble host as surefire winners this summer season.
I closed it out with two of my current favorite songs, which by all accounts are laid-back and breezy. I had posted the video for Chris Malinchak’s So Good To Me several weeks ago and decided to drop in the slightly punchier Steve Smart & Westfunk Mix and then tapped it off with Easy by Mat Zo & Porter Robinson. If the latter name sounds familiar, it should. Porter’s Language was my pick for one of the best songs from 2012. Here, he and Mat deliver a carefree song that will win over even the staunchest anti-EDM detractor.
They do need to give credit where it’s due; the song relies very heavily on a familiar synth rip that if you’re a song history buff like me strikes a very similar chord to Steve Winwood’s While You See a Chance (one of my all-time favorite tracks), which is probably why I was so drawn to it. However, I don’t judge; a good riff is a good riff when used to create your own song.
Next up, I’ll be serving up a set geared towards my circuit boyz and that one is a MONSTER! I previously posted on Facebook that I wanted to break something after my first take and after previewing the end result, I was dead-on (though managed to restrain myself breaking anything LOL).
At the end of the week, I’ve got a delightful throwback to Hi NRG classics and anthems for the true diehard Pride enthusiast amongst us.
That’s it for now and until my next post …ENJOY!

Gay PRIDE 2013 Volume 1 | EDM
Wednesday Jun 12, 2013
Wednesday Jun 12, 2013
As we wait for historic rulings to be handed down by the SCOTUS, this year’s Pride could potentially be one of the most significant in its 40-year history. While nobody expects them to wave a magic wand and make marriage equality the law of the land, most (including your humble host) are anticipating very narrow rulings in the three cases they are deciding that will have a significant impact on the unconstitutional laws against same-sex marriage that have been embedded in many state constitutions as well as federal law.
Some key factors to look at are whether the California Prop 8 proponents (let’s just call them homophobic bigots) have standing to challenge that states reversal of the discriminatory law, which allowed the majority to vote on the rights of a minority. Without getting bogged down in the minutia, if they throw it back to Cali thus upholding marriage equality in that state, you can bet there will be multiple challenges in other states discriminatory laws.
The other two cases deal more with the withholding of federal benefits, taxes, health care etc. for same-sex partners that our straight counterparts enjoy. While they aren’t likely to flat out invalidate DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) they could find that denying a subset of the population these benefits is unconstitutional, thus paving way for a repeal of the law or further challenges that would ultimately do away with it once and for all.
I am not a legal scholar nor do I pretend to be. I’m just trying to relay what’s going on in the best way that I understand it and hopefully in a way my followers can as well. All eyes will be on their ruling(s) in the coming weeks and I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enough said! Now let’s get down to the business of the music. Plenty more where this came from so I’ll just let it go from here and everybody else just sit back and as always …ENJOY!

Rihanna | The Diva Series
Wednesday Jun 05, 2013
Wednesday Jun 05, 2013
It’s time for one final induction into the Diva Hall of Fame and Party Favorz is more than pleased to finally honor the one and only Rihanna.
Having moved from Barbados to the United States at the age of 16, RiRi began recording demos until her introduction to Jay-z, then head of Def Jam Recordings who ultimately signed her.
The first single Pon de Replay taken from her debut album was a top ten hit followed by her second album with the #1 hit SOS. When her third album Good Girl Gone Bad came out all bets were off. Def Jam put a hefty amount of support and promotion behind that album including a dance remix album accompanied by its initial release. Umbrella was a certified smash, which solidified RiRi’s stature as an international superstar. She can thank Mary J. Blige for passing on that song when it was first offered to her. That track was followed up by other hit singles Take A Bow, Disturbia and, Don’t Stop the Music, which sampled Michael Jackson’s Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, and further solidified her popularity.
I don’t see any point in re-hashing her relationship with Chris Brown as she’s a grown woman and can make her own decisions (even if a good majority of folks disagree). You can hit the gossip sites for that crap. Equally, not much point in listing all of her accomplishments and hit singles. While not completely comprehensive, this set is damn near close. For cohesive reasons, a few songs were left off though Tony Moran and Chris Cox's popular mixes would likely resurface on a future RiRi set.
While this may be RiRi’s first induction, it certainly won’t be her last. It’s likely time for her to release a greatest hits comp with a couple of new singles by the end of the year and then follow that up with a massive world tour, but who am I to say? Whatever she does, it will no doubt be a massive success. At this point, I would like to welcome Rihanna into the Diva Hall of Fame, where she is amongst good friends and serious heavyweights.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Britney Spears 2013 | The Diva Series
Thursday May 30, 2013
Thursday May 30, 2013
IT’S BRITNEY BITCH! The former Musketeer who burst onto the scene donning a pedophile’s wet dream schoolgirl outfit and now a mother of two is on top of the world these days. No doubt it has been on a roller coaster ride for Britney Spears ever since her meltdown three albums ago. These days, the diva is focused and has become a tour de force in the music industry.
With a new album on the way (produced by her S&S partner Will.I.Am) and a long-running stint in Las Vegas to follow, her star has never shown so bright.
This is the second induction into the Diva Hall of Fame for Miss B. and is well deserved. Britney has put out a massive catalog of hits that have kept us nodding our heads and shaking our asses for well over a decade now. Love her or hate her, there is no denying her worldwide success.
Originally when I first sat down to go over my Britney catalog of dance music, I was pretty certain I would take it into the EDM direction her music has evolved over the past several years. Once I got started, it was clear I had other thoughts about what would work. Ultimately, the final product is a circuit lover's dream. For the most part, the electrosugarpop tracks are ensconced by big tribal bangers that support the whole set like a tight belt holding up a pair of baggy jeans.
Party Favorz welcomes Britney Spears back into the Diva Hall of Fame and looks forward to her future endeavors as she has set herself up to have the long-running career that Madonna and Kylie Minogue have maintained now for decades. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome …Britney!

Christina Aguilera | The Diva Series
Monday May 27, 2013
Monday May 27, 2013
To kick things off, the one and only Christina Aguilera is being re-inducted to the Diva Hall of Fame and by all accounts, she fits the true definition of a DIVA. The attitude, the voice, and the looks were all on full display during her three-year run as a coach on The Voice. You can credit that stent on the show for putting her back into the spotlight.
Since the release of Bionic and its subsequent pan by critics (whether justified or not … I think not) and a star turn in the mega-flop Burlesque (alongside three-time Diva Hall of Fame inductee Cher), her star power started to rapidly fade. Coupling that with some seriously added poundage, led folks to believe she just wasn't all that into it anymore, or worse, experiencing serious depression.
Her follow-up album Lotus didn't fare much better and despite a loyal following, people began to scratch their heads and wonder what the hell was going on. Fortunately, high-profile collaborations with Maroon 5 and Pitbull have kept her on the charts not to mention a return to The Voice this fall should maintain that momentum.
Far be it for me to make any suggestions about her music career but I’m gonna anyway. If she wants to be relevant, she will have to adapt to the current scene on the radio. I’d suggest working with William Orbit, Benny Benassi, or Calvin Harris (actually all of them) on her next project. She can still be Christina but these producers know their shit and could easily shape a new sound and image for Miss X. Take it for what it’s worth, but putting out another dated formulaic album will be the final nail in her coffin.
WOW! I didn’t mean for this induction to come off so harsh we absolutely adore Xtina. So that being said, Party Favorz honors the woman, the voice, the TRUE DIVA, and all that she has contributed to our lives. Without further ado, please welcome Xtina a.k.a. Christina Aguilera! XOXOXO

Peter Rauhofer Dance Music Tribute Volume 2
Sunday May 12, 2013
Sunday May 12, 2013
The indelible footprint of Peter Rauhofer in the dance music landscape is not something easily overlooked. His rise to prominence began with Club 69, a project that made waves in the 90s and solidified his status as a groundbreaking producer. Songs like Suzanne Palmer's "Muscles" were iconic Club 69 offerings that took the dance music world by storm. They created a unique sound that merged with Rauhofer's vision, making it a hypnotic, club-thumping experience.
But Club 69 was just the launching pad for Peter. He took a decisive step to embark on a solo career, a decision that would lead him to work with the crème de la crème of the music industry. Among the first to get the Rauhofer treatment was Goldfrapp's "Ooh La La." His remix breathed a new life into the track, enhancing its electro-pop core with rhythmic subtleties and sonic textures that made you want to move.
When Cher released "Believe," it was a pivotal moment in dance-pop history. The Club 69 remix transformed it into a transcendent dance-floor anthem. His masterful layering of beats and loops amped up the original, giving it an invincible energy that still resonates in clubs today.
But Peter's versatility didn't end there; he showcased his range with the soulful "Looking For Love" by Karen Ramirez. This remix was a departure from his usual high-energy adaptations but proved that he was not confined to one style. It was a beautifully nuanced version that blended Ramirez's emotive vocals with a danceable beat.
Let's not forget the time Club 69 revamped Kevin Aviance's "Din Da Da." This remix exemplified his knack for taking songs and turning them into epic dance anthems, compelling everyone to groove. The same can be said about his treatment of "Some Lovin'" by Murk vs. Kristine W, where he infused an infectious rhythm that gripped you right from the first beat.
Peter also had the privilege of collaborating with some industry legends. His work with The Pet Shop Boys in "Break 4 Love" stands as a testament to his capability to align his style with that of other musical giants. This collaboration, aptly named Peter Rauhofer + The Pet Shop Boys = The Collaboration, was an electrifying venture that struck a chord with fans of both artists.
One of the crowning jewels of his career was becoming one of Madonna's go-to remixers. Their synergy was electric, and his remixes often became as legendary as the original songs. He knew precisely how to amplify the Queen of Pop's vocals, adding layers of sound that made each track a monumental event.
Peter Rauhofer left an indelible mark on the dance music culture. His catalog is a who's who of dance divas and pop music royalty, solidifying his status as an ultimate dance music icon. Peter may no longer be with us, but his legacy will continue to reverberate on dance floors around the globe.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Peter Rauhofer Dance Music Tribute Volume 1
Friday May 10, 2013
Friday May 10, 2013
In the wake of Peter Rauhofer's untimely departure, what better way to immortalize his indelible imprint on the dance music world than to celebrate his remarkable contributions? You might wonder, "Why include him in The Diva Series?" Make no mistake, Peter was a diva in his own right—highly talented, fiercely independent, and unafraid to stir the pot. From his well-documented disagreement with Offer Nissim (Peter was spot-on) to his estrangement with the White Party organizers (a misstep, perhaps), Rauhofer never shied away from standing his ground.
Let's set aside judgments for a moment. After all, any individual who ascends to the pinnacle of their career is bound to have critics. As the saying goes, "Talk to the hand, 'cause the head ain't listening."
When it comes to the incredible range of artists Peter Rauhofer has either produced or remixed, the roster is nothing short of staggering. We're talking about the crème de la crème of divas who have dominated gay dance floors globally—Madonna, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Cher, Donna Summer, Loleatta Holloway, Suzanne Palmer, Annie Lennox and the list goes on. His collaborations read like an all-star lineup, making him an undisputed legend in the realm of dance music.
Peter Rauhofer wasn't just a remixer or producer; he was a visionary whose impact will be felt and studied for decades to come. In his own words, encapsulated in song number 10 of this tribute set, "This is the REAL THING, BITCH!" Instead of wallowing in sorrow, Party Favorz proudly honors Peter Rauhofer's illustrious legacy by honoring him in this first of a two-volume series.
To Peter, wherever you are, your creative genius remains alive in every beat and rhythm you've left us. You've had an unforgettable journey, and your legacy continues to resonate. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Lady Gaga | The Diva Series

I thought it would be apropos to bookend Katy Perry with Lady Gaga, since they both crashed onto the scene at relatively the same time. Like Katy, I had mixed feelings about Lady G. I didn’t quite get the hysteria over her. Yes, I liked Just Dance and Poker Face but just wasn’t overwhelmed by her. It wasn’t until Love Game and Paparazzi came out that I began to have a better appreciation of her skills, not just as a writer or singer but as a performer. By the time Bad Romance dropped, all bets were off and I was solidly in her corner.
No doubt, the comparisons between Lady Gaga and Madonna were inevitable (if not overblown) and started a ridiculous flame war between both camps and their followers. While working on the various Diva Series the past several weeks, something became apparent to me. THEY ALL BORROW FROM THE PAST!
Just look at all the pictures and photo spreads from Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and on down the line. Madonna was the obvious person to imitate because they likely grew up with her. But even Madge has borrowed significantly from the past to create her persona and if you ask me THEY ALL SHOULD BE BOWING DOWN AT THE ALTER OF GRACE JONES who’s in your face sexual androgyny was raising eyebrows and ire well before some of these latter-day divas were even born.
That being said, the notion that Born This Way is a direct rip-off of Express Yourself should be put to rest. If it was, Madonna would have every reason to sue for copyright infringement but at the end of the day, it’s nothing more than fantastical bullshit conjured up by some blogger who wanted to start a flame war between the two groups of fans. THEY SOUND NOTHING ALIKE!
If I had any criticism at all of Lady Gaga. it would be that she has a responsibility as a hugely admired public figure with a very devoted and loyal following to tamper any death threats or otherwise directed towards others who seek to criticize her. With fame comes responsibility and while I applaud her for using that fame as a positive force in others' lives, she should equally use it to help tamper down and squelch any comments from her “little monsters” that could lead to consequential actions.
At the end of the day, Lady Gaga is the shit and I can’t wait to see how she evolves as an artist in the future. I have no doubt she will continue to be a force and standard-bearer in her own right over the coming years. It is with great pleasure that Party Favorz inducts Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta a.k.a. Lady Gaga into the Diva Hall of Fame.

Katy Perry [2013] | The Diva Series

Tuesday Apr 30, 2013
Largely dismissed as a one-off with her minor hit “Ur So Gay” which raised the ire of the LGBT community, Katy Perry came back swinging hard with “I Kissed a Girl” a song that struck a nerve with right-wing social conservatives and blew up massively at radio and in the clubs. There’s nothing like pissing off large swaths of the public that brings the kind of attention most new artists can only dream of.
There was something about Katy Perry who had previously been writing songs for other pop artists that just sparkles. Her debut album set off other top ten hits like “Hot n Cold” and “Waking Up in Vegas,” setting the stage for what was to come.
By the time her follow-up album “Teenage Dream” came out, Katy Perry was already a household name which only became further ingrained into the public conscience with no less the five #1 hits beating out Michael Jackson’s previously held record. At this point, it was clear that Katy Perry was a global star.
With a great sense of humor and the ability to make fun of herself all the while writing catchy pop songs that struck at the core of her teenage fans, Katy Perry has become an epic player in the industry. As one of the new crop of radio darlings, it’s only fitting that she be inducted into the Party Favorz Diva Hall of Fame. We welcome our newest diva and look forward to more fun and frills from her soon enough. Welcome aboard, your star has landed!
