Jewel | The Diva Series

Over the course of the next week, Party Favorz is gonna be all about the D I V A! I got several brand new sets and inductees into the Diva Hall of Fame and thought I’d kick it off with the fabulous Jewel.
Consider her the reluctant diva.
Bursting onto the pop music scene in the late 90s, Jewel quickly became a staple at radio with #1 hits like Who Will Save Your Soul, You Were Meant for Me and Foolish Games.
Typically, you wouldn't think she fits the definition of a diva but she does meet a few of the criteria. She’s attractive, she can really sing and …well that’s about it. She’s so sweet that this cover is about as diva-esque that I could find.
Nevertheless, we gays love Jewel and her willingness to have her folk-pop tunes turned into massive floor fillers.

With a recent greatest hit package and tour she just put out a remix album with brand-spanking-new mixes of Standing Still and Foolish Games along with a new song Two Hearts.
I couldn't think of a better way to honor the woman we have endeared to our hearts than to welcome her into the fold. Congratulations to Jewel — you've been inducted into the Diva Hall of Fame. Your disciples thank you for this gift.

EDM Sessions April 2013 | ☻ ☮ ♠ ♛ ✪

I thought I’d sneak a surprise this Sunday and drop the next EDM set way before scheduled. I started working on it after work yesterday and got up early this morning and finished. This thing has been road-tested already so I thought, “why not post it?”
No doubt this thing is a monster which contains a good balance of commercial and big room bangers.  There is so much goodness baked into this set, you’ll likely be hearing many of these songs all summer long.
As all the PF heads know, June is a big month around here.  Dedicated to Pride, you can expect at least a set every week. I’ve got some ideas for this year in an attempt to keep things fresh but it’s gonna take a while to pull it all together. So, I don’t want to make any promises between now and the end of May. That’s not to say I won’t be posting but I’m not committing to anything specific. You’ll know when it drops so make sure you’re signed up for updates cause you never know what may happen in the next few weeks.  I’ve been known to pull things out of my ass at the last moment ☺

Spring Edition 2013

It’s that time of year again when outdoor temperatures become more moderate and we begin to shed unnecessary layers of clothing that were used to shield us from the harsh elements of a cold winter. It’s a time when mother nature blankets the earth with her afterbirth in the form of a neon green powder, which wreaks havoc on our respiratory system. Yes, folks, it’s time for the Spring Edition.
With all the belly-aching I had over trying to pull this set together, it appears it was much ado about nothing. Once I sat down and focused, it was clear my problem was “too many” songs and trying to make everything work. So I went back, pulled out a few and then everything seemingly fell into its rightful place.
This is one solid set that rocks it from start to finish. No need to go on and on about the songs contained herein because I am promising a surefire-pleasing trip down circuit land.
I’m already putting together the next EDM set, which will likely be followed by another funky house and they may just take some time off to start on what will be a HUGE Gay Pride series schedule for the month of June. Be sure to pay close attention because we’re just getting warmed up!

Back Spin Volume 1 | Electro House Classics Megamix

After sorting through all the recent promos and moving them to their respective folder based on genre (most to the recycle bin) I have to say I was unimpressed.  So much so, there was no way I was going to eek out a decent Spring Edition so quick. So I decided to do something I never do; that is, go back and listen to some old sets for inspiration.
From 2007 – 2009 I created a series called Deep Edition, which later evolved into System Edition. These sets were compiled of songs that I really liked but at the time didn’t quite fit into what I was doing. So, I’d throw them all together and create these eclectic mixes of house, progressive, tech, deep house, trance, you name it. To say the least, they were interesting if not downright strange in some cases.
I focused on six sets of the System Edition from 2009 and start listening to them over several days and was blown away by many of the songs. Sadly, I did not keep the tracklist for each set so I had to Google lyrics to determine the original artist and title. Once found, I’d search my library to pull them out. There were well over a hundred songs on these sets, so this was tedious and time-consuming but ultimately well worth the effort.
I pulled about 25 of the songs I wanted to use and then cut it down to nineteen based on what worked.  A couple of the songs were actually big hits while the rest were relegated to the underground scene, which makes this all the more interesting. I like this set so much, Back Spin could end up being the basis for a new series that focuses on past EDM hits and misses.

I’ll go back sometime this weekend and re-listen to the songs I’ve already set aside for the Spring Edition plus some other new stuff that recently shuffled in. Hopefully, this little side step will give me a new perspective on a new circuit set so I can get that out to you soon.

Dirrty Electro Pop

Clearly, I’ve fallen behind in my posts. I’d apologize but shit happens. Rick has been dealing with life’s shit and what affects him affects me. So, posts may be staggered between now and the end of May or until “life” resumes it’s normal operating functions.
As for the Circuit Classics, I had previously promised, those sets were lost during a transfer to a new computer build and will be pushed out at a future date.
Once I realized what had happened, I didn’t have it in me to go back and recreate them. So for now, they’ll be on the back burner.
This set was scheduled for Miami Music Week but was delayed (see paragraph one).  Better late than never I suppose.  Regardless, this IS one slamming set that’s easy to digest, while maintaining it’s AAA status for the club floor.

Disco Is the Shit!

I realize that I had promised some circuit classics this week but I’ve been really sick and delirious lately.
So I called the doctor on the telephone and said doctor, doctor, please I got this feeling rockin' and a'reelin' tell me, what can it be,is it some new disease? He said no son, you’ve got a case of the boogie fever, it’s been goin’ around.
That pretty much explains the problems I was having this past week. I just had to let it work itself out of my system.
The end result of my delirium is a lip-smacking, booty shaking, roof-raising disco meltdown. I tried cooling it down in the middle but the temps shot right back up again into a hedonistic frenzy before finally yielding its mesmeric sway over my body.  ENJOY!
I had a total of 18 tracks in this set. When I went back to split them up for the cue file, there were only 17. One song “Read My Lips” by Crazibiza had mysteriously disappeared from the mix and from my hard drive. The fever from the devil’s grip was worse than I thought LOL!

Winter Edition 2013

I finally managed to get a set out to you folks before the weekend LOL! Putting this set together is likely one of the easiest I’ve done in a very long time. From track list to transition, everything just fell into place quite nicely.  One noticeable difference is the overall length.  Typically, I like to keep these circuit sets tight with heavy editing.  This go-around, I left all the songs as is for longer transitions and breaks.  For some reason, it just felt right to prolong the ecstasy.
The Winter Edition is jam-packed with some big-room floor fillers and features some of the greatest tribal and progressive to come out in a long while. From the blistering opener, Beat Don’t Stop to the massive prog treatments Peter Rauhofer has been laying thick on his un-authorized bootlegs to the MASSIVE re-work of the Barry Harris classic Dive In the Pool there’s nothing not to like here.
You’ve got your unnecessarily vulgar dick songs NSFW (Have You Ever Seen; Big Banana) and your adolescent misspent youth diatribes (I Get Up, I Love It, Trespassing), which serve up the fierce attitude we gays come to expect on the dance floor.
I want to give a shout out to the fabulous Wayne G! Sometimes I don’t know what we would do if he were never born. Seriously! What would life be like without his keen sense of electroprogpop that he injects into his work? Frankly, I’m thinking it may be time to induct that gurl into the Diva Hall of Fame.
Typical of my style, I allow you to shower off all the dirt and sweat from this long workout with Ennoir (On My Way) by up and coming Dutch producer D-Velro. Once all cleaned up, you’ll be ready to jump back into the cesspool once again. ENJOY!

EDM Unleashed: Feel the Pulse of Electrifying Beats

Get ready for an electrifying journey through the world of EDM! Trust me, compiling this set was no walk in the park. Some incredible tracks didn't make the cut this time—though they may resurface in future mixes.
Let's chat about a few gems in this EDM adventure. Take "My Heart Is Refusing Me" by Loreen, for instance, which was given an electrifying spin by Benny Benassi. Then there's the dynamic "Something to Believe In" by Norman Doray & Nervo, which found new life with Hard Rock Sofa's Vocal Remix. Can't overlook Zedd's "Clarity," featuring Foxes, getting a New Year's Eve treatment from Starkillers. Jennifer Lopez | The Diva Series 2013

By 2005, Jennifer Lopez' star began to fade with a series of albums that failed to get much Top 40 traction (though generating #1 dance hits) a marriage to Mark Anthony and twins about to hit the shelves, Jenninfer was not getting the kind of attention she had previously enjoyed (barring the twins she had been carrying).
After parting ways with Epic Records, her label since the start of her music career, she signed with Island. She accepted the role as a judge on American Idol, which was said to be worth $20 million, and staged a comeback, and boy did she.
Still owing Epic one more album, her three #1 singles On the Floor, I’m Into You and Dance Again were all included on the greatest hits package released by Epic to fulfill her contract.
With the release of a couple more perfumes, a reality series similar to Idol produced for Univision and her first-ever Dance Again world tour coupled with starring turns in various movies, Jennifer’s star is back in alignment and shining brighter than ever. Party Favorz welcomes Jennifer Lopez a.k.a. J-Lo back as a two-time inductee into the Diva Hall of Fame where no doubt she will reign for years to come.

Kelly Clarkson | The Diva Series

It’s time to re-launch the infamous and wildly popular Diva Series. I could think of no better way to do that than by honoring the always fabulous and vocally gifted Miss Kelly Clarkson. Winner of the very first American Idol, Kelly has been one of the most successful artists to come off that show.
Kelly always played by her own rules and didn’t allow the industry to mold her into something she isn’t.  Unlike many of her contemporaries, her life is NOT tabloid fodder nor has she been arrested, had a meltdown, gotten publicly intoxicated, or even made a sex video.
She sings of heartbreak, independence, and self-empowerment; all themes that are easily relatable making her music not only catchy and fun but accessible.
After her stunning performance of My Country Tis of Thee at President Obama’s second inauguration, where she performed live (as in no lip-synced pre-recording) there is no mistaking her talent. For these reasons and more, Party Favorz honors Miss Kelly Clarkson by inducting her into the Diva Hall of Fame.

Don’t Stop! 2013

From a technical standpoint to song selection, I think Don't Stop! is one of the best sets I’ve ever laid down.
It’s a new year with a new look and I can’t think of a better way to kick it off than with a fierce banger!  I started out with some leftovers from 2012 and then began dropping some newer tunes that started to slowly roll out. From a technical standpoint to song selection, I think Don't Stop! is one of the best sets I’ve ever laid down. Then again, that could be my swollen head thinking LOL.
As for the site re-design, those that have followed me through the years know I like to design and create on a regular basis. No doubt Party Favorz has gone through some major overhauls over the years from the industrial to the shiny happy to the grunge feel of late. I was thinking about doing something shiny and plastic this go ‘round but I’m still into that industrial grunge thingy so I decided to stick with it and just simplify things a bit.
Many of you have asked me to go back and start posting some of my older sets and I’ve decided to do just that. My Podomatic site has severe limitations so when I start posting those older sets they will be easier to track down as I have set up labels or categories if you will for the different genres on my official site at https://partyfavorz.com. I’ll start rolling those out over the course of the next month.
In the interim, enjoy this kick-off to 2013! I’m starting to culminate the tracks for the Winter Edition, which is next up on my list and possibly a couple of new Diva Series and maybe something for Valentine's Day. Top Dance Songs of 2012 Volume 4

As we dive into the "Top Dance Songs of 2012", let's acknowledge the fluidity of deadlines and celebrate the vibrant sounds that finally made our annual list of the best in dance music for the year 2012. Better late than never, as they say.
The "Top Dance Songs of 2012" series concludes with a lineup of some of the most memorable EDM tracks. Topping off this list is PSY's "Gangnam Style", a global sensation propelled to unprecedented heights by YouTube.
This final installment of the "Top Dance Songs of 2012" is a sonic celebration of the year's most influential and catchy tracks. One Direction's "Live While We're Young" (Dave Aude Mixshow), Fun's "We Are Young" feat. Janelle Monáe (Alvin Risk Remix), Maroon 5's "Payphone" (Cosmic Dawn Club Mix), and a duo of remixes from Nicki Minaj – "Starships" (Justin Sane Remix) and "Pound The Alarm" (Nicole Chen Remix) – all contribute to the electric atmosphere. On a lighter note, do remember to take my deadlines with a grain of salt. As much as the intent is there, the unexpected can happen. As we look forward to future projects and potential reposts, we also plan a brief pause for a fresh redesign of the platform.
As we step into a new year, it's essential to maintain a balanced outlook – not overly optimistic, yet not pessimistic. Indifferent, perhaps. A short break is on the horizon, but rest assured, we'll return soon with more exciting content.
