EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

T-Dance Edition 2010 Volume 3 | Take 1
Wednesday May 12, 2010
Wednesday May 12, 2010
Surprise! Surprise! Going Forward, the Millennium Edition will be rolled into the Chrome Edition. By doing this, I won’t have to limit myself to a decade and will be able to grab whatever I’m feeling at any given moment. As such, I’ve decided to delay the release of the next couple of volumes until next week and replace this weeks post with T-Dance. I don’t think most if any of you will mind.
In other news, there are even bigger things coming to Party Favorz in the near future. Mainly, I’ve decided to give the BPM Edition its own platform. The numbers for that series are quite high and I believe that it can sustain its own site. Think of it as one of your favorite characters from a sitcom that leaves the show for a spin-off of that same character. BPM is still going to be around, it’s just going to have its own home.
For the premium subscribers that have been with me since February and even those that recently signed up, I’ll be sending each of you an email in the near future with an added bonus for your support. When you get something from me, I highly suggest you read it and not delete it. I won’t be fielding questions regarding the change after it goes into effect.
I don’t want to get too bogged down in this post as I fear many of you have ADD and will just skip to the bottom anyway LOL. I can’t blame you, I have a tendency to ramble in my posts, so I just wanted to stay on point and keep everyone abreast of the new changes coming soon.
I’ll be back on Friday or Saturday with part 2. Until then, enjoy!

Ultra Naté: The Unstoppable Diva Who Redefined House Music
Wednesday May 05, 2010
Wednesday May 05, 2010
In the closing chapter of our Diva Series, we pay tribute to Ultra Naté, a true pioneer in the house music realm. Beginning her journey in the early '90s with Warner Brothers, Ultra Naté initially had modest success on the dance charts. Despite her critically acclaimed albums "Blue Notes in the Basement" and "One Woman’s Insanity," she couldn't quite match the mainstream success of contemporaries like Crystal Waters and Robin S. It was her strategic move to the dance music powerhouse label, Strictly Rhythm, that catapulted her to fame.
Her third album, "Situation Critical," was a game-changer. The lead single "Free" not only earned a gold certification in the UK but also became a massive hit worldwide. More importantly, it solidified its anthem status within the LGBTQ+ community. By the time her second single, "Found a Cure," was released, Ultra Naté had ascended to true diva status, captivating a diverse and adoring fanbase.
In 1998, Ultra Naté joined forces with DJ Hex Hector and emerging artists Amber and Jocelyn Enriquez to rework the Gordon Lightfoot classic, "If You Could Read My Mind." This modern take on a disco classic (originally a hit Viola Willis in 1980) for captivated audiences and even became a soundtrack staple for the movie "54," further elevating her diva credentials.
The turn of the millennium saw the release of her album "Stranger Than Fiction," featuring powerful singles like "Desire" and "Get It Up (The Feeling)." As the dance industry transitioned to a new era, dominated by superstar producers like Thunderpuss and Peter Rauhofer, Ultra Naté remained ahead of the curve. Her adaptability to changing trends became evident in her 2007 album, "Grime, Silk & Thunder," which spawned multiple chart-toppers such as "Automatic" and "Give It All You Got."
Fast forward to 2010, and Ultra Naté shows no signs of slowing down. New remixes of "Free" have been released by Strictly Rhythm, and she has collaborated with artists like Nicola Fasano and Quentin Harris. Her persistent evolution and enduring contributions to the dance community earn her nothing but respect and admiration.
Ultra Naté has left an indelible mark on the dance music landscape with her powerful voice and relentless tenacity. Her expansive body of work continues to move us, on and off the dance floor. For these reasons, Party Favorz is delighted to induct Ultra Naté into the Diva Hall of Fame. Be sure to check out her iconic video for "Automatic" after the jump.

Jennifer Lopez 2010 | The Diva Series
Sunday May 02, 2010
Sunday May 02, 2010
From her days as a fly-girl in In Living Color and a backup dancer for Janet Jackson, to significant roles in movies like "Out of Sight" and "Selena," Jennifer Lopez has indeed worked her way up. She successfully transitioned between different facets of her career. With an estimated net worth of $100 million, our Jenny from the block has come a long way, and her induction into the Diva Hall of Fame is both timely and well-deserved.
As part of the Latin wave of artists like Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias and future husband Marc Anthongy who dominated the pop charts, Jennifer Lopez made her musical debut with "If You Had My Love." The song got a danceable facelift courtesy of Pablo Flores, whose big-room mix with heavy Latin percussion elements turned it into a club banger.
Her song "Waiting For Tonight," particularly the Hex Hector Remix, set the dance floors on fire. The remix featured a meticulously crafted drop that built to a peak before bursting back into the chorus, setting new standards for dance mixes at the time.

"Love Don't Cost A Thing" got a Hi-NRG makeover from Hex Hector and Mac Quayle, turning it into a chart-topping anthem. Another stand-out was the Thunderpuss Club Mix of "Alive," a lesser-known, slower tempo J-Lo song that became an empowering and uplifting anthem thanks to the remix.
Equally impactful were "Hold It Don't Drop It" and "Do It Well," both impeccably remixed by Moto Blanco. Riding off their success of remixing Mary J. Blige's "Be Without You," Moto Blanco's energetic House Music formula turned these tracks into undeniable floor-fillers.
Jennifer Lopez's first induction into the Diva Hall of Fame celebrates a career filled with hits, some of which have been transformed into legendary dance anthems, thanks to the skillful touch of renowned DJs and producers.

T-Dance Edition 2010 Volume 2 | Take 3
Friday Apr 23, 2010
Friday Apr 23, 2010
Happy Friday everybody! First off, I have some good news and some bad news. Which one would you like first? Since I can’t hear you, I’ll go with the obvious and deliver the good news first.
The good news is that I’m delivering the third installment of T-Dance 2010 v2 and due to circumstances beyond my control, it’s OTH. That’s right! All you freeloaders out there get a pass this go around. It’s fresh, it’s funky and all I can say is burn, baby BURN! You’ll get it once you hear the opening track.
Now on to the bad news. The hosting service for my podcasts (Podbean) has yet to respond to my request to have my feeds reinstated. Over the years, there have been so many issues with this company to numerous to enumerate, that I’ll just stick with the current problem. I’ve been trying to set up a single feed for RSS and email subscribers. Great, all done. However, I also wanted to use the same feed for premium and standard podcast for my iTunes folks (and there are a lot of you). I have isolated the problem to Feedburner (who I use to burn my feed). For some reason, it’s creating enclosures for the cue files on the premium podcasts and showing it as a podcast in the feed. As a result, iTunes is not picking up those podcasts. I have gone back and changed the option in Feedburner to only create enclosures for audio files and then I re-synched my feed. Even though I posted a question to this problem in their help forum, seldom if ever do you get a helpful response from anyone, so I’ll have to wait about 24 hours to see if this will work.
So what happens if this works? Glad you asked. Podbean currently masks the URL for the premium podcasts making it impossible for me to copy the link and paste it into my posts. But you’ve always been able to do that before, right? Yes, because when my site was hosted with Podbean, I could copy the URL from their site, after I had already published it. The problem is that I changed the feed URL in Podbean to reflect the new Feedburner feed, which achieved one thing positive; It took my Podbean site out of view and people clicking on the link within Podbean would be directed to my current site with Blogger. The problem now is that I don’t have the original URL for the premium podcasts to paste into my posts. Catch22, I know.
At this point, I’m trying to get my original Podbean feeds restored. I have emailed them multiple times to no avail. Frankly, they’re probably sick and tired of my questions and I can’t fault them for that. Then again, they always like to refer you to their FAQ section, which is poorly written and incomplete. When I changed the feed, the option to change it back completely disappeared. Sounds like a bug in their system and there is absolutely nothing written about this in their FAQ section, so I’m at their mercy.
I guess the next question is “why don’t I go with another service?” For several reasons. 1) I have too much time and money invested with Podbean 2) I get 3gb a month for $40 and the next closest of their competitors offers 550mb for $80 a month 3) It would be too time-consuming and costly to move all of my existing podcasts over. Blubrry wants $10 every gigabyte just to do that and at approximately 150gb, that’s just not an option.
So, David or Daphne (Podbean customer support), if you’re reading this please help me out so I can get back to business. Please help out the wonderful followers who have supported my work so they can start downloading the podcasts via iTunes. If anything, do it for the love of life, liberty, and your fellow man. Better yet, do it for me, the loveable podcaster who has been with you since 2008. I beseech you.
On a final note, I’ve already wrapped up next week’s three installments of the BPM Edition v4 and will be rolling those out throughout next week. Hopefully, all of this mess will be resolved by that time. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and please remember to always ENJOY!

STRESS, STRESS and more STRESS! If I’d stop screwing around with things maybe I wouldn’t have so much of the aforementioned. I’m in the process of consolidating into a single feed for the site. I don’t want to announce the actual feed that will be used for iTunes or subscribing to Friday’s post because I still need to test it. It should finish processing by tomorrow. I just need to ensure that both standard and premium podcast will show up in iTunes. I apologize for all the missteps, but trial and error is the only way I ever figure things out. As it stands, it’s cost me in a big way. I’ve lost 99% of my traffic and/or followers. Nevertheless, I’m hopeful that everyone will begin filtering back over the course of the next month (fingers crossed).
Right now, it’s not about me, it’s not about this site, it’s about the music and thanks to the disco gods from above that we have that! I’m serving up some freshly sliced funky house music with a side of roof-raising, hands clapping, hallelujah gospel. Can I get an AMEN!?!!
I think I need to take a chill pill, shower and move about this gorgeous day. Staying inside and looking at my computer, hoping for something to happen ain’t helping any. If I don’t hang myself first, I’ll be back on Friday with the third installment

T-Dance Edition 2010 Volume 2 | Take 1
Sunday Apr 18, 2010
Sunday Apr 18, 2010
When I started combing through the songs that would be used in this next edition, the Disco Fairy paid me a visit and hit me with her disco stick. Shortly after, I had the overwhelming urge to get down, shake, shake, shake my booty and boogie oogie oogie. Even though I had a strong group of tunes for this set, I was in a state of trance and found myself over at Juno combing through their NuDisco section and adding things to my cart like I had just won the lottery. I was feverishly consumed with boogie fever. Soon, I had a bill that had swelled to $50. Regardless, like a first timer in a club full of hot men, I just couldn’t put on the brakes; I literally had to have it ALL!
After downloading all of my newly purchased tracks, I went right to work on this mix. A lot of these songs are not really suited for mixing or beat matching in the true sense of the word. Back in the day, I taught myself to create these amazing mixes by splicing together songs at various intervals using two Nakamichi decks. By the early 90s, I was doing it on a single minidisc player. Relying on that same method, that’s pretty much how most of this set was put together. While there is some beatmatching going on, most of this set was sliced and diced, giving the perception of a masterful mix. The beats were anywhere from 112 to 128 BPM. In order to keep a solid flow without speeding up and slowing things down, I averaged all the beats to 124 BPM which provides for a much smoother ride.
I’m not going to say this is for everyone, because it’s not. I do believe that the true believers amongst us will eat this up; while others will be asking yourselves “where’s the beef?” No need to worry, I’ll be starting on the companion sets later today and you can expect those to drop later this week. In the meantime, I’m serving up a disco lovers dream fantasy come true. If anyone has an opinion on this mix, good or bad, let me know. I’d really like to hear what you think. I’ll be back by the middle part of next week with the alternate takes, which will be more in the vein of what you would normally expect. Until then, enjoy!

BPM Edition 2010 Volume 3 | Take 2
Sunday Mar 28, 2010
Sunday Mar 28, 2010
We’re down to the bottom of the barrel and I’m sending up the final chapter of Party Favorz 3.0. I have been working diligently on version 4.0 and already have a snapshot of what’s coming next that you can check out here.
As promised, I will be taking a sabbatical from the site for about 30 days. Depending on how fast I can get everything moved over, will determine when I make it back. On one hand, I definitely need the break for my own personal selfish reasons and on the other, not having to think about mixes and cover art for awhile will allow me to finish up the new site quicker. Frankly, I think you guys have more than enough to hold you over until I come back. If for any reason you start to go into convulsions, scroll down to “Delicate Discrimination” on the right-hand side and check out some of the fabulous mixes from some of the Party Favorz’ circle of friends.
As for canceling your premium account, that’s entirely up to you. I will be gone no longer than 30 days, probably less since I too will go into convulsions if I don’t mix something LOL. However, I will state without equivocation, that the premium service will continue. I don’t think it’s really reasonable for some to have to pay for everyone else, even though I will continue to put out sets OTH. However, after tallying up my receipts since February, I determined that I had already spent well over $500 on music, artwork and hosting making the need to continue the service imperative. Rest assured, you won’t be seeing any freebies during Pride month and possibly July when the Beach House Edition comes out; I’m just sayin’.
Without further ado, I bring you BPM 2010 v3, take 2. Much in the mainstream category of its predecessor, this is a combination of electro-pop, progressive and funky house music. I’m totally all about Chicane’s latest “Come Back,” which took me awhile to figure out where they lifted the chorus from. In case you’re wondering, it’s from Paul Young’s 1983 hit by the same name. This is one of those situations where I can’t eat, sleep or drink until I figure it out. This was a tough one because that song only reached #22 on Billboards charts that year. Nevertheless, I am (or was) a chart whore for much of my life, so it was not only imperative, but my sworn duty to figure it out LOL.
That’s all I got for today. I hope everyone has a fabulous week ahead of them and I promise to be back in business soon enough. I will be posting some updates from the aforementioned “circle of friends” in the next few days, so as to provide assurance I haven’t driven off a cliff.
Until then, enjoy!
P.S. Once again, this one’s OTH. However, I wouldn’t get too used to it.

Saturday Mar 27, 2010
Saturday Mar 27, 2010
I’m serving up the next installment of the BPM Edition and boy oh boy is it a monster! Not wanting to leave too much on the floor after I failed to put together the T-Dance Edition, I took some of the more commercial elements and mixed them in. Frankly, I think it worked quite well. Things start pretty smoothly, but about 1/3 of the way through, this set transitions into full-blown, head-banging party fun! Things will start sliding into more happy house as you get to the end.
Speaking of commercial, this set and the accompanying part two slated for tomorrow are quite possibly the most mainstream mixes I’ve done in a while. I thought the solid mix of producers kept it from getting stale and/or redundant so I was able to keep my happy ass away from Beatport, where I usually dig around for some underground house to shake things up. Needless to say, I am quite pleased with this mix as I am certain, so you will as well.
Looks like Saturday is shaping up to be a very nice day, so I don’t want to spend too much time blah, blah, blah [grin]. I’ll be back tomorrow with part two and I’ll discuss my upcoming sabbatical.
Until then, enjoy!

Spring Edition 2010 Volume 2

WARNING! This post may not be suitable for anyone under 18 years of age. However, if mom and dad aren’t around, have at it.
Okay folks, just now getting around to posting the second set. It’s been a long ass day with more shit thrown at me than I care to think about. In a recent Facebook post, one of you guys stated there was a medical bill sitting on your desk and you were trying to wish it away. Well, I’m trying to wish this day and all the people involved in it away (except Rick of course). Sadly, they just won’t fucking disappear. No blinking of my eyes or wiggling of my nose is going to make it happen. So, I’ll just have to tolerate their bullshit unless I’m forced to use the nuclear option. Most people that know me, know that I’m a really nice guy who will bend over backward to help others. That is, until you fuck with me, in which case I can be a real nasty, vicious bitch. Right now it just feels like I’m a magnet drowning in a bowl of iron-clad cornflakes; as soon as I pull one off, another gets stuck to me.
[This is the part where I rip a nasty, tired old queen apart. However, being the consummate professional that I am, I have decided to bite my tongue and withhold my remarks.]
If I sound fucking pissed, it’s because I am. Truth is, it’s my own fucking fault. I know all too well what to expect when I’m dealing with DIVAS, QUEENS, and FAKE TIARAS and should always demand payment upfront. Nevertheless, I know this isn’t anyone’s problem and something I’ll just have to deal with privately. Oops, I guess it’s too late for that, my bad. At this point, I will politely digress and move on to other news.
The T-Dance Edition I promised has been scrapped. Sorry, but it wasn’t coming together the way I’d hoped. Unlike other big name DJs who throw anything together without any skill, much less thought and think their fans will lap it up regardless; I don’t put out shit and I certainly wouldn’t sell it to you for $16.99 if I thought it was shit. Hopefully, the next T-Dance will make an appearance sometime in May. The good news is, the next BPM Edition is finished and just needs to be remastered. I’ll have the first one out for everyone on Saturday.
As for Party Favorz, I’m not going anywhere, so there’s no need to freak out. I just need to take some time off and recharge my batteries. I’ll go into more detail in the final BPM post. Until then, take care, good night, have a fabulous weekend and all that funky-fierce stuff. -K
P.S. This one’s OTH…enjoy!
