EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

Yet another gorgeous day here in the ATL and all I can say is life is good. Today I am serving up some more fresh and funky house music. This set and Take 3 to be released tomorrow border on a more mainstream house with a little underground and Nu Disco thrown in for good measure.
From Kaylah Marin’s massive hit “On the Floor (Oh Baby Please)” and Inaya Day’s “All I’m Sayin’ (Just Hold On)” to Boris Werner’s “Let’s Boogie” (which samples Stars on 45: Medley; I unapologetically admit to owning the original 12” from back in the day) and the absolutely beautiful “Keep On Loving Me” by Dion Mavath, there’s something here to make you think, feel and jump out of your seat!
I don’t want to spend too much time babbling as I want to get out and enjoy this day sent from the gods. I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend. I’ll be back tomorrow with the third and final installment.
Until then, ENJOY!
UPDATE!! Anyone that subscribed after the release of the BPM Edition 2010 v1 should now be able to download those podcasts with your username and password. Sorry for the inconvenience.

What exactly is soulful, funky and Nu Disco have to do with each other? IT’S TIME FOR SOME T-DANCE BABY! Sorry, I didn’t mean to scream at everyone, but I’ve been listening to these mixes for over a week and just can’t get enough. They put the sunshine back in my life when there wasn’t any, and I mean that literally. Thankfully, the ATL has been sporting that bright fiery ball in the sky for the past several days. So if where you live ain’t quite there yet, this should help you get through the rest of winter. Trust me, better weather is just around the corner.
I’ve got three sets out of these mixes and for those that like to burn them to disc, all of them fall just under the 80-minute threshold. This first one is on the house (pun intended) and the rest will be part of the premium content. I’m not going to sit here and tell everyone this little experiment is working fabulously because it’s not and I didn’t expect that it would. What I will say is that it is working well enough to at least cover about 2/3 of my expenses and that alone makes it worth continuing without breaking my piggy bank (what little I have). So for now, I’ll keep on keeping on with the site and continue tracking its performance over the next couple of months.
Be request, I’ve got a very special Diva Series on tap for next week followed by the next installment of the BPM Edition and then the first two sets of the Chrome Edition: Best of the Millennium | The First 10 Years. Obviously, I’ve got my plate full and I’ll do my best to keep up. Judging by some of the promos that have been coming out and with WMC just around the corner, it looks like it’s going to be a very HOT spring and summer; just the way I like it!
I’ll do my best to get part 2 out tomorrow, followed by the third installment on Sunday. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and as always, ENJOY!

Winter Edition 2010 Volume 2
Saturday Feb 13, 2010
Saturday Feb 13, 2010
The sun is out and yesterday’s snow is melting away. I got up early and headed out to Waffle House (they’ve got the best coffee in the world, hands down) and was driving down Cheshire Bridge Road admiring all the beauty that had accumulated all around me. It was fun to watch it all melt right off the powerlines with ice falling everywhere. Sadly, Rick left work early yesterday and it took him over three hours to get home. Consequently, he was in a pissy mood once he got here and wasn’t up for making a snowman. Maybe next time.
Yesterday, I was moving into a discussion about Valentines Day. Now I’m sorry, this is nothing more than another corporate bullshit holiday, designed to part consumers with their money. Now, if you’re honey is all tweaked because you didn’t get them anything, then they really don’t love you. Frankly, love and appreciation should be given to those you care most about all year long. You don’t need any specific day where society dictates how you should show your appreciation for another. For me, sometimes I would show up with flowers for no reason; sometimes I would make reservations at a nice restaurant and spring it on Rick, even though there was no occasion to celebrate; sometimes I would pick him up a nice shirt or shoes when I was at the mall, not because he needed them, but because I thought he would like them; while other times I’ll give it up even when I wasn’t in the mood [grin]. Rick is also a voracious reader and once the dust settles on the competing technologies, I plan on springing an e-reader on him later this year for no other reason than I want to. No need to worry, he doesn’t read my blog.
Nevertheless, this day of love has been so ingrained into our brains since childhood (remember the stupid VD cards you used to buy a box of and give them out to your teachers, friends and that someone special who put a twinkle in your eye), that it’s hard to ignore. So in keeping with that tradition, I created the perfect cover art for all those who have been affected by cupid’s arrow. Yes, I am a marketing genius and know full well, how to play the game. In fact, I think the Winter Edition would be a perfect gift for the one you love. [grin]
Now that I’ve probably sapped all the love in your heart(s), let me inject some passion back into you. This second set picks up where the first left off. In fact, I originally made it as one long set when I didn’t think there would be enough for two. A couple brand spanking new tunes came in this week that was so worthwhile, I extended the mix and then broke it into two pieces. Using the synth line from Olive’s classic “You’re Not Alone,” Major Laser and Nina Sky’s “Keep It Goin Louder” has been on heavy rotation in my brain for several weeks now. The Superchumbo mix kicks it up several notches making it peak-time ready for those late night floors. Kim Sozzi is back with the ultra-hot “Secret Love,” which also has an amazing Wendel Kos mix that will make its debut on the next BPM Edition.
PFF (Party Favorz Favorite) Inaya Day is back with the smoking “All I’m Sayin’” that delivers some hard-hitting progressive beats while pulling a positive vibe. Equally, Georgia Brown’s “Love 4 Real” is as solid as they come with DJ Fist really working this one out. Currently, these two songs are in Masterbeat’s Top two must have list.
Probably the biggest (and I mean BIGGEST) song here is Kristine W’s “The Power of Music.” With her trademark power vocals and Tony Moran’s massive production, you can expect to be hearing this song in all of its incarnations throughout the spring. With remixes by Tony, Groove Police, Wideboys, Joe Gauthreaux and more, there’s something here for everyone. Looks like she’s well on her way to another #1 off of her amazing album by the same title. Check out the ultra HOT video below.
It’s turned out to be a gorgeous day here in the ATL, but I’m not going to be able to experience it. I’ve signed on for a couple more projects,

Winter Edition 2010 Volume 1
Friday Feb 12, 2010
Friday Feb 12, 2010
As I sit here waiting for the 2 inches of snow that was predicted to fall, I can’t help but wonder about all those folks on the east coast or even in the UK that have been buried underneath the stuff for much of the year. To someone like me in the south, it’s pretty and fun. Sure it can wreak havoc on the roads, as us backward folks don’t know how to drive in it. For me, I can appreciate the wonderment of it, but I wouldn’t want to live, much less be stranded in it for any period of time. Then again, it will last a day and the sun will be out tomorrow and melt it and all of its beauty away. That being said, it is with great pleasure that I bring you the 2010 Winter Edition.
Not unlike an episode of “Project Runway” where one day you’re in and the next day you’re out, the Winter Edition will give way to the Spring Edition and we know what that means, right? Gay Days is right around the corner! I, like much of you, am always ready to move on to the next thing. Dance music is typically fleeting with several memorable moments caught on the dancefloor or even in the gym throughout the year. But let’s face it, it lasts about as long as a one night stand. You get up and look over at the drudge you’ll pull out of the club the night before and think to yourself, “NEXT!” Now I could lead into this useless holiday that’s right around the corner, but I think I’ll save it for tomorrow’s post. Hey, a girl doesn’t just give it up all at once, even if she is on a roll!
In the meantime, I’m serving up a heaping platter of Party Favorz! While I don’t want anyone to get too full, because we still have desert tomorrow, there are definitely some choice selections on today’s menu. Starting with the always fabulous Miss Mary, “I Am” proves her place in dance music heaven is rightfully reserved. Granted, Geffen didn’t put out any official mixes for the single, but Nick Harvey swooped in a delivered a massive uplifting bag of joy with his production. This is followed by a surefire floor filler “Party Around the World.” With Jason Dottley’s snarky phrasing backed by Debbie Holiday’s massive vocals, this Barry Harris production hits all the right notes with its island party grooves.
Our girl Andrea Carnell is back with a classic 90s remake that has already been burning up dancefloors around the globe with “Don’t Stop Movin.” With HUGE vocals that could give Kristine W a run for her money and a powerhouse production by Klubjumpers, this one’s heading to the top! Speaking of massive vocals, Kimberly Davis really delivers the goods on “Get Up.” Ladies, we’re talking ANTHEM!
And what would this set be without the already massive comeback single “Louis Vuitton's” oops, I meant “Louboutins” by J-Lo. I think this must be the third version that appeared on any of my podcasts since December. Expect one final take as the Moto Blanco mix will be delivered on my upcoming T-Dance Edition. Other goodies include newcomer Selena Gomez’ “Naturally” and the “Housewives of Atlanta” reality star Kim Zolciak’s “Tardy for the Party.” Okay, okay I know she can’t sing, but give the woman her due. Everyone wants to prolong their fame beyond the allotted 15 minutes and with voice disguisers, why not?
That’s a wrap! I’ll be back tomorrow with volume 2. Right now, I’ve got snow on my mind and it still ain’t here! I guess no sissy snowman for me.
Until tomorrow, ENJOY!

BPM Edition 2010 Volume 1 | Take 3
Thursday Feb 04, 2010
Thursday Feb 04, 2010
Pushing out the third installment of the BPM 2010 v1, I’m gonna take a leap and say this set will get your heart rate up! Don’t be fooled by the bouncy fun of songs like “Rocket” by Goldfrapp, “Can U Dance” by DJ Fast Eddie or even Deepswing’s “In the Music” because this entire set is pretty relentless. In fact, it doesn’t really start to let up until you get to the end when Flanders (Time) and the latest from Samantha James (Waves of Change) cools your heals. I can honestly say this first BPM of 2010 and in particular, this set is some of the best work I’ve done in a long while. Granted, it’s only as good as the music you have to work with.
I’ve already started working on the Winter Edition and that’s falling short in the big room, big voice divas that the Original Series is usually comprised of. So, I may have to experiment a little with it. Regardless, expect it to debut next week before VD.
I also want to let everyone know that I have changed the way “premium content” will be handled on this site. Everything has been so crazy trying to consolidate the sites and shutting down Blogger that I didn’t give full consideration to all of my options. So, what I have decided to do is go to a single monthly fee of $5.00 as opposed to the $2.99 per download. Think of it as an “all you can eat” menu. $5 bucks a month will get you unlimited access to any of the mixes coming out in 2010. I will likely continue to offer one free mix from each series for those people that have yet to discover my site but everything else will require a monthly donation of $5. I think that’s fair and less cumbersome for you guys (and gals) and frankly is a lot less work for me. Those of you that have already purchased Take 2 of this series will receive an email (to the PayPal address you used) shortly with a password that will be good for 1 month of premium content access, so you won’t have to pay again.
That’s about all I have for today. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend wherever you are and whatever you’ll be doing and as always, ENJOY!

BPM Edition 2010 Volume 1 | Take 2
Tuesday Feb 02, 2010
Tuesday Feb 02, 2010
Kicking off this set is Mariah’s third release from her “Memoires of an Imperfect Angel” album. What’s notable here is Jump Smokers have gone back and re-worked the entire album for a near future release and what a job they did! I admit, I wasn’t all that happy with the album, but I think pumping some fresh blood into it may be it’s saving grace.
With the exception of Agnes’ “On & On” the first half of this set delves deeply into some seriously smoking hip-hop via the electro route. Folks, this is what I’ve been talking about. The saving grace for hip-hop is going to be electro. While all of these are stellar tracks that’ll get you jumpin’ Bassmonkeys and Soulshaker serve up a really funky number on “Bad 4 My Health.” With two separate memorable taglines (Don’t blame me if I think with my hoo hoo) and (just call me and I’ll be there in a second) this song delivers the goods and then some. The other is “Now You See It” by Honorebel with Pitbull, which has been blowing up all over dance floors.
The second half moves in a more mainstream direction starting with Keri Hilson’s latest “Slow Dance.” Kaskade really works this number out with a throbbing immediate electro bassline. Another personal favorite is the latest by Dragonette. “Pick Up the Phone” may slow it down it bit, but it’s catchy as hell and is the type of song that relentlessly sticks in your brain.
Closing out this set we’ve got some reloaded classics. ATB’s “9PM (Til I Come) is a sure fire floor filler and Everything But the Girl’s “Missing” is taken to new heights. Picking up where Todd Terry left off, DJ DLG adds some thick bass stabs, while retaining the integrity of the original of this late 90s classic. Perhaps the oddest number in the bunch is the closing track “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King. This is the original 60s classic given an electro makeover by Rachel Ellektra that surprisingly works very well.
As a reminder, this set and its companion to be released on Thursday are part of a trial I’m running to help cover my costs associated with this site. When you click on the “donate” button you will be taken to PayPal where you can make your contribution of $2.99. Once completed, you will receive a separate email with download instructions. It will also have an email address to contact me should something go wrong and I can then reset the link for you.
I hope everyone’s having a great week. I’ll be posting Take 3 of this set on Thursday and have already started in on the "Winter Edition” which is coming up short on new material. Hopefully, some new tunes will start showing up this week, otherwise, it will be my first single set in a long time. I’ll be back in a couple of days. Until then, enjoy!

BPM Edition 2010 Volume 1 | Take 1
Sunday Jan 31, 2010
Sunday Jan 31, 2010
Every once in a blue moon, everything just falls into place. I can say without any modesty that, that is the case for the very first BPM Edition of 2010. This and the upcoming final two sets that comprise volume 1 fell together with such ease that even I am amazed at how awesome these sets are. I did perform some modest editing, but for the most part, the songs are as is. Basically, the only thing I had left to do was go back and remaster all the songs to rein them in for a smoother listening experience. In short, this entire edition ROCKS!
By August of last year, I began experimenting with this series and started mixing in underground house with the mainstream. I had received a perfectly legitimate critique of my work from someone on my Podbean site. Basically, the song selection was redundant. When the same producers remix everyone under the sun over and over, you run the risk of having your sets sounding the same or better yet, like a month old loaf of stale bread. As a result, I started playing around with the set list and frankly, I’m more than pleased with the end result. Going forward, this series will continue to be more inclusive of a variety of styles from electro, mainstream, funky and progressive house. On the first two sets, you’ll find a good mixture, while the third set relies more on underground house with a smattering of mainstream, which delivers a more peak hour feel. The goal here is to hit all the right notes, without coming across as generic or the same shit everyone else is doing. Just trying to keep it fresh.
Ultimately, my goal is to continue to deliver the finest selection of non-stop dance podcasts for your workouts, parties and/or drive time to and from work, while providing exposure for artists and producers that most of you may never have heard of otherwise. The old saying goes “you have to spend money to make money” doesn’t necessarily apply here, because I just don’t even come close to covering my costs. Nevertheless, I’ll be happy if I can break even and keep things chugging along.
Right now, it’s a balmy 34 degrees outside, though the sun is out; so who am I to bitch? For me, any day with sunshine and without rain is like a gift from the gods and certainly one I don’t turn down. So, I’m going to wrap this up and enjoy the rest of my day. I hope everyone is staying warm and having a fabulous weekend. I’ll be back on Tuesday with part two. Until then, enjoy!

Pronto's "Gonna Make U Sweat" (Summer Party Mix) and Rudenko's "Everybody" (Club Mix) were also fan favorites, both featuring groovy rhythms that kept the party going.

Top Dance Songs of 2009 Volume 3

In the transformative year of 2009, the landscape of dance music experienced a major shift. Online retailers selling dance music began to stake their claim on the burgeoning music market. It was a notable period when legal online distribution of dance music found its stride. The Top Dance Songs of 2009 emerged in an ecosystem where companies like Beatport, Traxsource, and Juno Download were curating quality house music that you couldn't find in your local record store, which, in fact, was swiftly becoming a relic of the past.
These online platforms offered an extensive catalog from thousands of dance labels across the globe. Their success rested in meticulously sorting music into genre-specific categories, making it easy for users to discover tunes that align with their tastes. For instance, my go-to sections were "House Music" in Beatport, "Soulful" in Traxsource, and "Funky House" in Juno Download. It was in these niches that I would unearth music gems that were obscure to many but ignited the dance floors across the globe. Now, Party Favorz could share these hidden treasures from the Top Dance Songs of 2009 with our podcast listeners.
However, in the rush to dominate the dance music market, not every player made it. Companies like XpressBeats met their end, and others like Juno and DJdownload merged. The cut-throat competition was a sign of an industry on the cusp of evolution. It became clear that survival hinged on three factors: serving a niche market that major distributors overlooked, creating an easy-to-navigate platform, and ensuring a fast, intuitive search experience. Beatport emerged as the leader in delivering on all of these fronts, while others like Juno Download and Traxsource grappled with issues around layout and speed.
In this exciting period, Masterbeat was one service that showed significant promise. Being the sole online platform to negotiate deals with big labels for dance remixes of popular artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, or Madonna, Masterbeat was ideally poised to make a big splash in our Top Dance Songs of 2009. Their struggle, however, lay in managing the expectations of these big labels, which often interfered with their business operations and deviated from their original goal of promoting mainstream dance music alongside popular underground house.
As the year progressed, it became evident that these online dance music retailers were a vital part of the music industry's evolution. They played a key role in promoting and distributing the Top Dance Songs of 2009, ushering in a new era of music discovery. Meanwhile, services like iTunes began to broaden their offering, with the aim of becoming the Wal-Mart Superstore of online entertainment.
Reflecting back on this transformative year, it's clear that 2009 was a turning point in the dance music industry. Despite some challenges and growing pains, it paved the way for platforms to deliver the best dance music directly to fans. So, here's to remembering the Top Dance Songs of 2009 and the year that fundamentally changed how we discover and enjoy music. To wrap up this recollection, I'd like to share Stevie Bishop's remix of Lilly Allen's powerful song "Fuck You."
Until the next time...ENJOY!

The landscape of dance music experienced a significant shift in 2009, a golden period for DJs and producers that left a lasting mark on the genre. This year in music, symbolized by the Top Dance Songs of 2009, was characterized by the successful fusion of electro-house with mainstream appeal, a trend that echoes the 70s, when disco transcended the clubs and redefined pop music.
In the realm of remixes, Dave Aude was the year's most prolific figure. His signature style breathed life into countless club hits, making him the go-to producer for artists seeking tracks that would set dancefloors alight worldwide. From the infectious beats of Beyonce to the edgy tunes of Lady Gaga, Dave was the powerhouse behind many of the Top Dance Songs of 2009.
On the other hand, Liverpool-based production team Cahill emerged as a noteworthy player in the electro-pop scene. Their distinctive touch on tracks like Agnes's "Release Me" and Mariah's remixes has positioned them as the next superstar production team. Their work in 2009 set the stage for their ascent to club domination in 2010.
Additionally, 2009 marked the triumphant return of some of dance music's most respected figures. DJ Barry Harris, Pete Hammond, and Razor N' Guido, known for their influential contributions to club music, made a notable comeback. Their fresh production styles in the Top Dance Songs of 2009 was a welcome contrast in a crowded field of repetitive mixes, and their re-emergence was met with considerable anticipation for their future work.
The Top Dance Songs of 2009 were greatly influenced by these creative forces, blending new trends with the return of seasoned masters. As we explore this defining year in dance music, we look forward to the continual evolution of this dynamic genre.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Kickstart 2010 by revisiting the top dance songs of 2009 that made us groove, celebrate and live life in full swing. 2009, for instance, was the year that unveiled a true diva, Kelly Rowland, whose life post-Destiny's Child and Sony sparked a new musical journey. She teamed up with David Guetta to knock out the worldwide smash "When Love Takes Over", a track that took over dance floors globally, becoming one of the top dance songs of 2009. The impact was such that the moment it hit WMC, it became an unstoppable force.
David Guetta further cemented his position as 2009's man of the moment. His collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas resulted in two massive hits - "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Got a Feelin." These songs didn't just dominate the club scene but also ruled the Top 40 charts for most of the spring season, indicating a shift in the musical tastes of listeners. David Guetta and the Black Eyed Peas revolutionized the Top 40 radio scene in the U.S, paving the way for more pop artists to follow suit.
A surprise hit that year came from Swedish newbie Agnes' with "Release Me." Her simple, yet catchy pop style coupled with the right production magic from Cahill was a treat to the dance floor enthusiasts, ranking her music among the top dance songs of 2009.
While the unfortunate news of pop icon Michael Jackson's passing took center stage that year, Lady Gaga's ascend to fame shared the spotlight. Her debut album "The Fame", which came out in August 2008, was praised by influential music blogs for its dance-ready electronic beats and pop sensibility. The album's lead single "Just Dance" made waves in clubs across the globe. As a result, Top 40 radio couldn't resist her charm and had to include her music in their rotation, further propelling her career.
We must also acknowledge Beyonce's top game in 2009, with chart-topping hits like "Single Ladies," "Halo," and "Sweet Dreams," that continuously kept her in the news. Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" also made headlines, Mariah Carey and P!nk delivered hits, and even Britney Spears brought us the brilliant "3."
One standout song that year was "Patron Tequila" by Paradiso Girls and Lil Jon, which was one of three hits celebrating a good time. Erika Jayne's "Give You Everything" from her album "Pretty Mess" also became a favorite. Lastly, we saw Anjulie's "Boom" top the club charts.
In conclusion, 2009 was an unforgettable year in the dance music scene, and the top dance songs of 2009 are an enduring testament to that. This was just a glimpse into the exciting year that was 2009. Stay tuned for more exciting tidbits and remember to check out the gayest version of Miley Cyrus' "Party in the U.S.A." by NYCFudge, which I must confess is a guilty pleasure of mine below.

Holiday Edition 2009 Volume 3

Here at Party Favorz, we (meaning I) never rest on our laurels. As such, I am sending up my final mix of the year so I can spread joy and happiness to all of my fellow gay men (and women) throughout the world this season. This final Holiday Edition 2009 continues much in the same vein as its predecessors, with a little Christmas cheer thrown in to round out the mix.
I realize that many of you in the US and the UK are just now digging your way out of the snow, while many more of you in the Midwest are gearing up for massive blizzards in the next couple of days. If it's any conciliation, the ATL has been having beautiful sunny days in the low 60s, which we are going to lose tomorrow as the rain heads south (oh joy). At the very least, if you're stuck and can't go out, you can make your own little party. Just make sure your fridge is stocked and that your significant other or BB (best buddy, what did you think I meant!?!!) is with you before the storm.
I'll be back early tomorrow with my final thoughts of 2009, the year that was and will NEVER be again. So sit tight party people, Santa will be back one last time before signing off for the year. Until then, ENJOY!
