EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

Mariah Carey: A Divine Dance Music Journey | Diva Series 2009
Saturday Aug 08, 2009
Saturday Aug 08, 2009
Mariah Carey: a name that reverberates across multiple genres and holds a particular gravitas in the world of dance music. Bursting into the limelight in the early '90s, Mariah's self-titled debut album was nothing short of a sensation, gifting us four chart-topping hits. Her trajectory faced some turbulence when she left Sony/Columbia for a high-stakes deal with Virgin Records, but any detours only led her back to the path of success, exemplified by her triumphant "Emancipation of Mimi."
One DJ stands out in particular for his collaborations with Mariah: David Morales. Renowned for getting Mariah to re-record vocals exclusively for his remixes, Morales has been instrumental in translating her iconic voice for club-goers around the globe. A close listen to tracks like "Anytime You Need a Friend" or "Heartbreaker" reveals that Mariah's work with other DJs like C+C Music Factory and Junior Vasquez also likely features re-recorded vocals—essentially transforming the dance tracks into unique compositions.
Amidst the pounding beats and gospel choirs that are staples of a Morales remixes, Mariah's vocals achieve a level of emotive power rarely heard on the dance floor. It's as if you're transported to a soul-stirring Sunday service, guided by Mariah's arresting vocal prowess.
In recent years, Mariah's music has taken a younger, pop-centric turn—seen in her album E=MC²—a direction that seems out of step with her natural vocal brilliance. In an era where new talents like Leona Lewis are gaining ground, Mariah doesn't need to play catch-up; she already has a timeless allure that many aspire to but few attain.
The playlist that follows is a dynamic tapestry of Mariah’s versatility and vocal magic. From "Emotions" to "We Belong Together," each song in this over-two-hour set is a tribute to her unparalleled talents. DJs like Peter Rauhofer, Seamus Haji, and Mike Rizzo join the ranks of Morales in crafting mixes that underline why Mariah deserves her Diva Hall of Fame status.
So here's to Mariah Carey, a true diva whose dance tracks echo across decades, establishing her as an enduring force in music. Party Favorz is thrilled to induct her into the Diva Hall of Fame. Ladies and gentlemen…Miss Mariah Carey!
Until the next time...ENJOY!

BPM Edition 2009 Volume 5 | Pt. 1
Saturday Aug 01, 2009
Saturday Aug 01, 2009
The 5th edition of the BPM series consisting of two very long podcasts will be made available all at once later this afternoon. This has been a long and grueling summer and frankly, I need a break. I don't have it in me to create my usual post. I've included the track listing for each set below, so you have a pretty good idea of what's contained in each podcast.
I plan on taking most of August off, though I may pop in later in the month with the 2003 Chrome Edition or maybe just the Mariah Diva Series I had previously promised. I can't say for sure. I'm starting to have some normalcy around the house as Rick's condition has improved markedly. A couple more weeks of dialysis and he should be back at work, right around the time I have my operation.
I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer mixes I've been putting out and you can expect more going into the fall, but with a more restrained release schedule. I fully anticipate having the Fall Edition out sometime around Labor Day.
Atlanta has brought back Pearl Days at Six Flags (Think of it like Gay Days at Disney) which is on September 11th - 13th and should be a lot of fun, assuming I'll be up and about at that time. So make the best of the remaining weeks of summer and I'll soon be back in the saddle whipping it out! Until then...Enjoy!

Summer Edition 2009 Volume 3
Friday Jul 17, 2009
Friday Jul 17, 2009
Life certainly changes at a whims notice. In the spring, I had announced my intent to go back to school. I had applied, got accepted, shelled out $580 to UT to get my transcripts released and transferred, took blood tests to ensure I had all of my childhood immunity vaccinations, submitted my application for financial aid which was approved and finally met with a counselor to cover the courses I was going to need and also found out everything transferred with a 3.47 GPA. As it turns out, it looks like I will be having an operation in August which will require some extensive rehab afterward.
Consequently, school is off the table at least until spring. So what does that have to do with this site you might ask? That just means you have me in your full service at least until the end of the year. Experience has taught me that no matter how much you prepare and/or set your course, obstacles (sometimes good, other times bad) get in your way. At this point, everything is tentative and I fully expect to keep on keeping on through the end of December. Frankly, this has been a whirlwind of a year.
It started off with the failure of not one, but two 1TB external hard drives and my primary hard drive on my computer causing me to lose a ton of my music, photos, artwork and documents that hadn't been backed up to DVD yet. Rick's mom passed away a couple of months ago and that put a strain on our budget to fly him back to Texas. He hasn't been the same since getting back and I'm hoping that will change sooner rather than later.
After all, I rely on him a great deal and I don't enjoy seeing him so down. Nevertheless, we keep plugging away in hopes to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Personally, I'd prefer the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but I'll take what I can get.LOL!
I've decided to take this next week off; well sort of anyway. I'll be opening up the site to my guest DJs to promote their own work and I even have newcomer (for here) Frank Wild from San Francisco on board with us as well. While I can't promote everyone's work all the time, much less listen to all the mixes that are submitted to me, if you're interested, feel free to send me an email (located in the upper left hand corner of my site under the "about me" section) along with your info, website and any cover art and/or logo and pics plus track listing you might want to use to in the post.
The other thing I'll be working on is my first radio-themed podcast where I'll preview some of my favorite songs of the moment. No, this is not going to be a countdown, rather a way for me to share with people songs I think they should consider along with up and coming releases that are not yet available for purchase.
This week, I've had the good fortune to preview two new songs by DJ Bill Bennett (yes, he did send them along after all) which will drop on the 27th. I'm kind of feeling my way around this and hope that people will find it useful.
For now, I'll try to keep it down to 30 minutes or so and will see what the response is before I take the full plunge. If there are any other DJs, producers or artists that have something new coming out (keep it in the realm of dance music please) feel free to forward it along with release dates, bio info, production credits and any available artwork for consideration for future shows.
Alright, enough boring you guys to tears. Here's the third and final set of the Summer Edition. You'll notice that the first half is your usual fair (in a good way of course) before turning decidedly progressive for the second half.
Between the original Party Favorz mixes and the BPM editions, I've been trying to make up for the now-defunct System Edition with songs that I feel mesh nicely within these sets. I'm a big believer in diversity and by mixing it up, it keeps these mixes from becoming stale and redundant.
One last thing, with the onslaught of really great music being released late this summer,

Summer Edition 2009 Volume 1
Monday Jul 13, 2009
Monday Jul 13, 2009
Originally, I thought I was going to get some exclusives from DJ Bill Bennett for you guys, but that didn't quite pan out. We had been exchanging email messages and he assured me that I could use "Manhunt" and "Forever Young" in my Summer Edition, with pre-conditions that I didn't mind abiding by. Many of you may not know that he supplements his income as a nurse. Let's face it, bills have to be paid and that's how he does it when he's not in the studio or on the road. Anyway, I know he's been really busy lately, so I didn't want to keep forcing the issue for fear of getting on his bad side, much-less being a pain in the ass. He did send me his "Expelled From Catholic School Mix" for "Forever Young" and it's a surefire winner. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work with any of the three sets so I decided to put that off until my next BPM. The good news is that he has a double release scheduled for both songs on July 27th exclusively at Masterbeat. I expect these much-anticipated songs to do extremely well in the clubs, on the charts, and at dance radio. Already with two massive hits from his "Big Muscle of the Rhythm" album, last year's summer anthem "Fame" and the Big Pig classic (one of my all-time favorites) "Breakaway" these two bombs should put his Big Muscle Tour back on the road for quite some time.
Meanwhile, I thought I'd go ahead and start rolling out these mixes so as to have them out for the BIG San Diego Pride events coming this weekend. Our good friend John Longo from Circuit Cadence has caused quite a stir with his remarks over Peter Rauhofer's track record for attending these types of events. So this should prove to be an interesting weekend ahead and I've got Twitter on full alert. You can follow the thread here.
As for this mix, this is probably about as commercial as it's going to get. Each subsequent mix after this gets a bit more progressive, tribal, darker and heavier with a few bright spots thrown in here and there to keep the vibe alive. I'm pretty much booked solid the rest of the week, so I won't be providing any further commentary. Instead, I'll just let each set speak for itself and hopefully, you guys can fill in my silence with your own comments, good or bad. Hey, I'm a big boy and haven't even come close to earning "diva" status yet, so I try to learn from other people's critiques.
Enough blabbing.on to the music!

The final mix in this year's Beach House series is a culmination of the two previous mixes but with a more funky attitude and some Latin and Jazzy beats thrown in for good measure. I guess this pretty much does it for now but rest assured I am currently compiling the Summer Edition, which I'm hoping to have out late next week. I have a HUGE week ahead of me with something big happening every day. I will no doubt be a very busy boy so we'll see how I can rectify that and manage to get the next series out. Since I want everyone to have a slammin' summer, I'll do my best.
I'll be bringing you guys some kick-ass circuit tunes soon enough. Until then, have a fabulous weekend and as always...Enjoy!

Beach House Edition 2009 Volume 4
Tuesday Jul 07, 2009
Tuesday Jul 07, 2009
Originally, the T-Dance version of Beach House was going to be two very long mixes, but I decided to go ahead and break it up into three. Granted, anyone with a little know-how can stack each one right after the other because the whole thing mixes flawlessly. I spared nothing in this mix and you can rest assured that you're getting the latest and greatest from this summer's house music scene. All the usual suspects are included: from top-notch producers like DJ Spen and the Muthafunkaz, Richard Earnshaw, Mark Picchiotti, Joey Negro, Moto Blanco and 7th Heaven to top-notch talents like Lisa Shaw, Heather Johnston, Michelle Weeks, Dawn Tallman, Shena and newcomer Mishal Moore, you will want for not. Granted, you may notice that DJ Meme is nowhere to be found. That's because his remix of "Sittin' on Top of the World" by the Sunburst Band doesn't show up until next week. Such is life. I've also included a fabulous Frankie Knuckles remix of "Rock with You" the closest I'll come to honoring the memory of Michael Jackson.
While the overall tone of this first mix is pretty subdued and laid-back, I jolt you back into reality with an updated version of Evelyn Thomas' classic 'High Energy' courtesy of the always fabulous Almighty Production team, late in the mix. I employ a similar tactic in mix three just to keep people on their toes. Overall, this is one fresh and funky mix with a lot of soul that's perfect for relaxing around the pool or at the beach. I'll try to get everything out by Friday, but I'm not making any promises. Until then.enjoy!

Beach House 2009 | Volume 2
Wednesday Jul 01, 2009

Moving along with volume 2 of the Beach House edition, I try to kick things up a notch. Standouts include "Stuck With Each Other" by Shontelle (though I would have preferred a duet with maybe Ne-Yo or even Chris Brown over Akon any day), "Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer)" which needs no introduction, the 2009 update of Haddaway's 90's classic "What Is Love" (for obvious reasons), the smoking HOT "New In Town" by Little Boots (which hasn't reached our shores just yet), Ladyhawke's "Back of the Van" who I'm beginning to appreciate more and more and "If You Want My Love" by Soul Avengerz and Max C an irresistible combination of electro-funk. Frankly, there's not a bad song here. Just look at everything else as the super-glue that holds this mix together.
I've got more stuff coming down the pike the next couple of days, so I'll do my best to get the third in this BPM series out by the weekend. Next week, you can count on the Beach House edition going T-Dance to round out your summer fun. The first three should be more than enough to fill up your holiday parties this 4th of July.
In the meantime, just hang tight.Friday's coming.enjoy!

Beach House 2009 | Volume 1

With the kickoff of the Beach House series, I'd have to say that the summer parties have begun! After pouring through hundreds of promos, my ears started to bleed. There is no shortage of girls or girl groups with thin voices disguised as the "vocal enhancer" technology that is so overused in today's music. Hell, even Mariah employed it on her latest lame-ass single "Obsessive". Frankly, these labels don't even need talent anymore, just some hot chicks and wannabe rappers who are more than willing to pimp themselves out for their fifteen minutes and you got yourself a record. The more you pump out, the more likely you're going to stumble on a hit. Such is the case with the Paradiso Girls' "Patron Tequila". Don't get me wrong, songs like that are a lot of fun, but realistically, it just doesn't cost the labels that much to put something like this out. So, after going through all the promos, I had to make decisions about what's hot and what's not. Otherwise, you would end up with three mixes of songs that all pretty much sound the same. Instead, I mixed in some harder electro and underground tunes that might otherwise not ever see the light of day. I then sprinkled some progressive tunes that were lost due to the deletion of the System Edition, and what you end up with is something that's fresh and funky and contains enough variety to keep you interested. Hey, I'm not tooting my horn, but I knocked these three mixes out from 3:30 AM Saturday til 1:00 Sunday afternoon. The end result is freaking smoking!
Personal favorites include the Noisettes' "Don't Upset the Rhythm", DBN and Madita's "Asteroids", Beyonce's "Sweet Dreams", EliZe's "Can't You Fee It", Lal Meri's "Bad Things", The Kahile Project's "Magic Carpet" no that's not a remake of the 90s Bardeaux classic and Riva's "For How Long".
I've got two more to bring to you by Friday and I'll follow up next week with the T-Dance version of Beach House. Though hot, the weather has been amazing since yesterday with clear blue skies, light breeze, cool mornings, and most importantly smog! I'm hoping it can sustain this through the Fourth of July weekend, but likely not.
Anywho, I'll try to get back tomorrow with part 2 of this mix. Until then...Enjoy!
