EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

BPM Edition 2009 Volume 4 (Take 4)
Saturday May 16, 2009
Saturday May 16, 2009
Okay, folks, we're in the home stretch before I take a much needed weekend break. Starting things off, we get an updated early 90s classic "Just Another Sleepless Night" by Mad8 vs. Shawn Christopher and what a smokin' mix this is! The original David Morales mix is a personal favorite while Out of Office delivers an updated electro take for today's floors. I'm also serving up the two other Amanda Wilson tracks I promised "Love Resurrection" and "Surrender". Though not quite as stellar as "Make It Real" these are still some nice additions to Miss Wilson's growing repertoire.
For those of you that remember the massive Moto Blanco mix of "If You Love Me'" by Chanel last year, well she's updated the song with a new electro mix by Disco Lips which retains all the characteristics of the previous with a bit of an edge. This is kind of a no-brainer and should do very well. Another song I'm really feeling at the moment is "When We're Together" by Morjac and Fred Falke featuring Sarah Tyler. This is a big electro tune that drops into this Stevie Winwood sound from his "Arc of a Diver" period during the chorus. I don't know, it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over.LOL.
Another no-brainer is the already massive "Body Rock" by Oceana. I had previously used the Twisted Dee mix in my Spring Edition and I've got to say that Dave Aude's take is equally as good. This, of course, is followed by U2's latest "Magnificent" which by all accounts is just that. In fact, U2 even sent Dave a personal note thanking him for such an outstanding job. What's nice about this version is that it harkens back to the uplifting 80s sound that U2 is known for, just with an electro edge to it. This is nothing short of brilliant and should take these guys back to the top of the club charts. Speaking of the 80s, "Clothes Off" is an updated take on the 80's hit "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" by Jermaine Stewart. Already burning up the floors, the Soul Seekerz do an excellent job of bringing the song into the here and now while retaining the nice sing-a-long chorus that made this song famous in the first place.
Keeping with the 80s theme, "Too Hot" by Rick Restanques and Linda Lee Hopkins employs a phat synth groove throughout the song that is very reminiscent of the Pointer Sisters' "Automatic." I have to say this works wonders for the song and should do very well this summer. Finally, I close things out with "Time 2 Wait" by Steelers and Naomi. No doubt this is a surefire radio and club hit from the original to the Bellatrax mix represented here. I expect big things for this song.
That's all I got for you guys today. However, if you scroll down the sidebar on the left-hand side, you'll get a clue as to what I have in store for you over the coming weeks. Beginning sometime this next week, I'll start rolling out the next T-Dance mixes, which from what I've previewed so far, should be a lot more fun in the sun for you all. I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I'll be back next week. Until then (as if you didn't already know).enjoy!

BPM Edition 2009 Volume 4 (Take 3)
Friday May 15, 2009
Friday May 15, 2009
Two days ago, I had the chance to finally preview 'Take 2' and decided I wasn't exactly feeling the Bimbo Jones mix of "Push Up Word Up" and decided to swap it out for the club mix instead. That version is more of a breakbeat mix very similar to the original 80s version by Cameo, which I like much better. While I was at it, I went ahead and made some minor improvements to a couple of songs.
I decided that the Simply Red and Freemasons with Sophie Ellis- Bextor mixes were a little too slow for my taste. So, I increased the BPM from 125 to 128 giving both songs an energy boost. It's not as significant as you might think since the vocals remain the same and don't come out sounding like the Chipmunks. I've done this before, but not after I had already posted the mix. I also remastered the Freemasons mix to bring it up to par with the songs surrounding it. The quality was a little lacking so I added some light compression to toughen it up a bit. Anyway, if you want the final version, the mix along with a new .cue file has been replaced and is available for download.
I have to say this has been a hectic week. I've had a lot on my plate and had all the mixes finished up on Sunday to get other work done. The only problem was a slew of new promos showed up. There were several worthwhile mixes that I added to this third installation, making it longer than previously projected. I don't think anyone will mind and I'm guessing that the fourth will have some changes as well, though I can't guarantee the length. I just thought I'd put that out there before some of you get all up in my face about the length of the mix. Regardless, once you hear it, you'll be glad I made the additions.
Starting things off with quite possibly the hardest songs I've had to mix in a long time. Ashley Tisdale's "It's Alright, It's Okay" and Kaci Battaglia's "Crazy Possessive (I'll Muck You Up)" are too big and I mean very BIG electro house tunes that you'll no doubt be hearing everywhere this summer. The problem I had was the rolling beats that Dave Aude and Cahill used as the foundation for the songs. The best way to mix in and out of these is to have a song in a perfect key that has no build-up or breakdown at the end. Otherwise, you can forget it. After messing around with it yesterday evening, I finally decided to move them to the front of the mix and took the easy way out of "Crazy Possessive" to keep things moving along. Speaking of Dave Aude, this guy is on fire! Last year I was complaining that he was kind of hit or miss in his mixes, but it seems that everything he's touched this year (and that's been a lot) is nothing short of magic! So I want to give a big shout out to Dave for rocking the floors in 2009!
We also get hot new tunes by Erika Jayne and Amanda Wilson. Erika's new single "Give You Everything" (currently only available on iTunes ) is jam-packed with great mixes from Dave Aude, DJ Escape & Johnny Vicious, and Moto Blanco. I would definitely add this to your essential list as it has something for every floor. Equally, Amanda's "Make It Real" is one of three brand new songs from the budding diva in this series all begging for attention. I'm not sure when she plans to stop and smell the roses, but I'll take that amazing voice anytime. Now, will someone please give this woman a record deal, like yesterday? Other songs already making a lot of noise are the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" and Lady GaGa's latest "Love Game". Both songs are already burning up the dancefloor and if it isn't where you're at, then request it. The DJ will thank you.
Rounding the mix out, we get a hot new single from 80's freestyle artist Safire. "Exotique" is another essential song that comes packed with great remixes by Mike Rizzo, Johnny Vicious, Jamie J. Sanchez and Mark Alston. Once again, something for every floor that anyone would be a fool to pass up. Finally, we have an amazingly sweet pop song "Armageddon" by newcomer Je...

BPM Edition 2009 Volume 4 (Take 2)
Wednesday May 13, 2009
Wednesday May 13, 2009
Moving along to the second set of the latest BPM Edition, I held to my promise of infusing some more prog tunes into the mix. If you remember a while back, I made the decision to cancel the System Edition and in its place I would be mixing in some of the underground house into this series to make up for the loss.
Frankly, I think it works quite well and prevents this series from being too 'poppy' and gives it a more serious undertone. Granted, you still have your mainstream electro and funky house but the addition of the progressive tracks not only gives it more meaning but prevents everything from sounding too mundane.
First up I've got the ultra hot Livvi Franc "Now I'm That Bitch" which is a big mainstream electro track that will rock your house! Also be on the lookout for the equally fabulous Kaskade mix of this song. Then there's "Boom" by Anjulie which doesn't really need a mention since it's already number one on the Billboard Club Chart but was something that wasn't in my grubby little hands at the time my last BPM mix came out. You also have the Freestylers doing their own take of the massive chart-topper "Word Up" by Cameo from the eighties. Don't worry, this has all new lyrics and Bimbo Jones strayed from the original version but left just enough so you know where it's coming from. However, if you prefer the breakbeat tempo of the original, they have a club mix that's sure to suit your taste.
Another eighties gem is Simply Red's "Money's 2 Tight to Mention" which is just as pertinent now as it was back in the day. Seamus Haji works this puppy out and I expect it to do very well on the floors over the next several months. Since we're in the mood for remakes, why not Sono's classic "Keep Control" which the original just appeared on my 2001 Chrome Edition. This time, Fedde Le Grand has the honors and takes the original up several notches for an ear-pleasing workout.
Keeping in the remake theme, I also closed this mix out with Richard Grey's take on Daft Punk's 2000 worldwide smash "One More Time" which simply updates the original for today's electro crowd while keeping all the uplifting and fun elements intact. In the same mode, we get Lissat & Voltaxx's "Release Yourself" which scoops up the classic beats of Armand Van Helden's "You Don't Know Me", something that has already been done earlier this year not once but twice in a more prog style. This go-around, they add lyrics ensuring a hands in the air crowd pleaser. I also managed to work in a little electro-salsa with Jeremy Sylvester and Socafrica's "Hot 4 U" which practically begs you to dance. Sorry, you just don't have any choice with this one.
Finally, the one everyone's been waiting for "Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer)" by Freemasons and Sophi Ellis-Bextor. This is the lead single off of the Freemason's upcoming Shakedown 2 album on June 29th and has already generated positive buzz across the Atlantic. Expect to be hearing this and the subsequent remixes all summer long!
That's about it for today. I'm putting some finishing touches on the third set and will have that out for you guys tomorrow. Until then.enjoy!
Update: After having the chance to listen to this mix in full last night, I decided to swap out the Bimbo Jones mix of "Push Up Word Up" with the club mix. Additionally, I made a few minor enhancements to the mix.

BPM Edition 2009 Volume 4 (Take 1)
Tuesday May 12, 2009
Tuesday May 12, 2009
I am officially declaring summer! I'm sorry, but I can't wait and the music contained in this four-volume set and the subsequent T-Dance series that will be coming out next week will be a testament to that fact. So it is written, then it must be true. After pouring through hundreds of promos, I somehow managed to cut it down to four volumes each containing fourteen of my picks for some of the hottest tunes coming to a dance floor or radio sometime soon. Granted, this is all subjective and sometimes I am wrong; but I can assure you my overall track record is generally pretty darn good.
That being said, here are my picks to click: First we get not one but two brand new tracks featuring the very talented Simone Denny. We start off with the blazing electro of "Luv Sick" a collaboration with Jean Maxwell and later what is sure to be the anthem of the summer "Your Love" with Max Vangeli and Digital Lab. Keeping up with the harder electro squeeze, we get "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" by Sweet Mercy featuring Veba. This is a big room electro track with powerful vocals that will have you grooving from the first note.
Out of all the promos I went through, there was no shortage of 80s remakes and this one by the S.O.S. band in 1980 is a surefire winner that didn't try to copy the original. I have to say that the overall majority were just plain donkey doo. Among that list were "She Drives Me Crazy"," "Billie Jean" and the most atrocious of them all "Eye in the Sky" originally performed by the Alan Parsons Project. As Moon Zappa once said, "Gag me with a spoon."
Next on the list is "Love Sex Magic" by Ciara and Justin Timberlake which is already blowing up everywhere. Take special note that I went with the unreleased Alexander and Mark VDH mix which is just awesome. Though not their typical mixing style, it further proves their flexibility and someone you need to watch in 2009. Other favorites include the 2009 update of the classic "Summerfish" by Leonid Rudenko and Daniella, Studio Apartment's "I Want U 2 Move", Lenny B and NJ's "Turn Up the Radio" and "Wud If I Cud" by Anthony Wright.
One other thing of note: I've decided to remove the rating system from each song. If I talk about the song, you can guess this is a 4 or 5-star mix and if I don't it's at least 3-1/2 which is still very good and certainly noteworthy. I've also got a lot planned for the remainder of May, so stay tuned. I'll be back tomorrow with volume two. Until then, sit back, relax because summer has arrived. Enjoy!

Annie Lennox: The Unexpected Dance Floor Diva Who Redefined an Icon
Saturday May 02, 2009
Saturday May 02, 2009
When you think of artists who have transcended multiple musical genres and social paradigms, Annie Lennox unquestionably comes to mind. Whether it's her groundbreaking work with the Eurythmics or her striking solo career, Lennox's influence permeates various facets of the music world. Remarkably, even in dance music, a genre she once described as "vacuous" in an interview with HX's Trenton Straube.
Lennox's opinions on dance remixes raised eyebrows, considering her extensive portfolio in the dance music realm. In a rather candid exchange, she appeared disconnected from the notion that dance mixes could extend an artist's reach, encapsulating an audience otherwise unfamiliar with her legacy. It's a viewpoint that seems misaligned with someone like Lennox, who's constantly evolved throughout her career.
The irony is palpable when considering that her remixed tracks, particularly those from her time with the Eurythmics, have introduced her to new legions of fans. For someone who tossed gender norms in the air and redefined musical styles album after album, it's surprising to hear her dismiss dance remixes. Yet, it's exactly this unpredictability that makes Annie Lennox a fascinating character.
Take her track "A Thousand Beautiful Things," for instance. When spun into the Peter Rauhofer Beautiful Strings Anthem, it blossoms into an emotive, pulsating experience. It's as if Rauhofer took the poetic essence of Lennox's music and set it to a score that's both rhythmically compelling and deeply moving.
On the other side of the spectrum, we have "Walking On Broken Glass" metamorphosed by David Morales into a dance anthem, a prime example of how a good DJ can elevate a track into a whole new dimension. Morales maintains the melodrama of the original while injecting a heartbeat-pumping groove that makes it irresistible on the dance floor.
Perhaps most surprising are the Utah Saints' take on "Little Bird" and Freemasons' version of the Eurythmics classic "Here Comes The Rain Again." These remixes are not just fan-favorites; they've actually extended the lifespan of the original tracks, attracting a demographic that might not even recognize Annie Lennox as part of the Eurythmics outside of "Sweet Dreams." Speaking of which, the Steve Angello Mix of "Sweet Dreams" is nothing short of a dance floor igniter. Angello takes this timeless Eurythmics anthem and raises its energy levels to a peak-time crescendo, making it a fixture in contemporary DJ sets.
While Annie Lennox may dismiss these remixes as products of a "vacuous" culture, it's crucial to recognize that dance mixes serve a purpose far beyond mere hedonism. They allow a different audience to appreciate the essence of an artist in a setting where the original might not necessarily fit. They're not "void of intelligence or expression," as some might argue; they are, in fact, an artistic continuum, an extension of a musical narrative that broadens the listener's scope. And, as always, the transformation of her work into danceable tunes is something Clive Davis, her label boss and friend, clearly understands.
So, whether it's the potency of her lyrics or the magic in her melodies, the dance floor adaptations of Annie Lennox's work continue to resonate, making her an undisputed diva in every sense. Maybe one day she'll see the magic in this artistry too.
Until the next time...ENJOY!
Donate and keep the party going!

System Edition 2009 Volume 3 [Take 4]
Friday Apr 24, 2009
Friday Apr 24, 2009
We've reached the fourth set for this edition. I’m guessing it will be quite a while before I do another System Edition since I have other things on tap for May. This final set takes a decidedly different approach to yesterday’s lush and atmospheric mix. In fact, I’d say that this is more alternative and experimental underground house than anything else. Granted, the hooks are there, but sometimes you need to look for them. Don’t expect a lot of vocals in this set either. To me, this is as cold and electronic as it can get. Granted, I have to be in the mood for these types of songs, and last night I guess I was because I was just rocking out to the beats. I’ve got a lot going on today so I’m not going to spend any time discussing the songs on the mix. Suffice to say that it may not be for everyone. However, if you enjoy quirky beats without the dreamy landscape, this one is definitely for you!
In my previous post I mentioned that I was not happy with the way the second set came out and that after further listening, the problem was with many of the songs. I just wasn’t feeling much of it. So, I took the first set and dropped a few songs and the second set and dropped many more, then combined the mixes. That’s how it will stay in my library. I’ll be happy to post it tomorrow if I receive enough requests, otherwise, I’ll just leave everything as is and start working on the next Chrome Edition 2002.
After more rain and thunderstorms last night, it looks like today is going to be a gorgeous day. In fact, we’re now starting to see temperatures climb into the mid-80s and today is going to be a scorcher. Frankly, I welcome the warm-up but will be bitching about the heat and longing for fall by August…LOL. I know, finicky bitch. I also have a couple of reminders: 1) If you haven’t signed up for my Facebook Fan Page yet, please go over there and do that now. It’s not finished yet, but should be by the weekend. I plan on running contests from there and not this site, that will be strictly for the fans. So if you don’t want to miss out…2) I’m calling all fans of Kristine W to submit your questions. I’ll be interviewing her next month and would like to get every fan the opportunity to ask a question. You can either leave your question in the comments section of this post or email me at kjamproductions@gmail.com. Make sure you leave your first name, city, and state, so I know who to attribute the question to during the interview process. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. I will be back sometime next week with the next installment of the Chrome Edition. Until then…enjoy!

System Edition 2009 Volume 3 [Take 3]
Thursday Apr 23, 2009
Thursday Apr 23, 2009
I have to tell you that I have been listening to this mix over and over and barely scraped the first two. While I really like the first take of this edition, I was having a very difficult time with the second. I sat down last night and listened to it all the way through, and it was a hard pill to swallow. How many times have you ever heard a DJ fess up about the poor quality of song choices used in a mix? Probably never. I’ll be listening to the fourth and final mix tonight since I haven’t even touched on that one yet. If it’s as good as this one, then I may go back on Saturday and combine the best elements of the first two mixes to make one single mix and then re-post it. If I do that, then the first two will be removed. It’s my anal-retentive nature to perfect on something that otherwise could be much better. Either way, I’ll let you know in tomorrow’s post.
For now, this mix is rock solid from start to finish. It' starts out with a bang and pumps the pulse straight from your ears down to your toes! Word of warning, this is NSFW. The first three songs drop the “F” bomb repeatedly; so if you wanna play this back while working you might want to cue it at the fifth song to prevent offending your colleagues. After the booty shaking romp of the first quarter of the mix, the tone drops a little into the massive “Devil Toy” by Hoxton Whores. If the song sounds all too familiar, that’s because it is basically a pumped-up dub version of the classic “Make the World Go Round” by Sandy B. Original? Not. But, it’s a lot of fun. Moving on, we get into what has already proven to be a massive track in all its forms by Faithless, “Music Matters”. The Axwell mix does more justice than you can imagine. In fact, I think if this song were housed up a bit, this could potentially be a major crossover. Simplistic, but certainly beautiful. That flows right into “Atlas” by Digital Enemy and Carl Hanaghan. The Vision mix is a true testament to his diversity. Thereafter, we move into some more indie progressive mixes with Arno Cost and Avicii, which provide some great male vocals without sounding cheesy. Avicii’s “Excited” helps levitate us back into the heavier and deeper “Pa Po Pon” by Mowgli. Robbie Rivera is at the top of his game with this floor filler. Purposely repetitive, it will stick in your head like glue long after it’s over. Finally, we switch gears to what I might consider a more commercial prog house with Kleerup and Bad Boy Bill. “Longing For Lullabies” and “Falling Anthem” are both serious contenders for radio play and insidiously catchy. Finally, we drop back down to the low tempo “Panama” by Yvel and Tristan. Its simplistic beauty will wash out everything that came before and make you forget you just took a long journey through the underground; albeit an enjoyable ride and worth taking again.
That’s all I got on tap today. Don’t forget I’ve started a “Party Favorz Fan Page” on Facebook. So if you haven’t signed up yet, whatcha waiting for? I’ll be back tomorrow with the final set in this series. I’ll let everyone know tomorrow what I decide on the first two mixes. Until then…enjoy!

Sorry for the delay in getting this post up. I’ve been jerking around with adding a “Fan Page” on Facebook and it has been extremely complex once you get the initial setup complete. Things like adding a discography or even a link back to this site seem damn near impossible. I dread putting together a Twitter page, but I hope to have everything completed this weekend. I’ll figure it out, I always do. In the meantime, you can join the Party Favorz Fan Page by clicking on the link and adding yourself as a fan. My brain is pretty much fried for the evening so I’ll just let yesterday’s post about the four set of mixes speak for itself. I’ll be back tomorrow (hopefully early) with the third installment. Enjoy!

System Edition 2009 Volume 3 [Take 1]

I've got a big week setup for the underground house lovers. So much so, I went ahead and knocked out all four mixes on Sunday. I've been somewhat busy and haven't had a chance to preview everything before I sent it up, so don't expect perfection. Based on what I've heard so far, it's pretty damn close. In fact, not bad for whipping up these sets in just under two hours. Actually, it takes longer to go through everything and decide what to keep and then have to remaster any song that's not up to par with the rest. I did that on Saturday. Overall, I'd have to say I'm very pleased.
Once again I've put together some of the best in progressive, house, tech, electro and minimal to create a journey through the underground. Granted, there are definitely a handful of tunes on the commercial tip, but that just helps shape the overall tone of these four sets. If you haven't heard the superstar collaboration between Steve Angello, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Laidback Luke with vocals by Deborah Cox yet, then you're in for a big treat. Not unlike the brand spanking new David Guetta & Kelly Rowland tune, it hooks you and never lets go. Don’t worry, that tune is coming up in a later mix.
Obviously, we also have the fabulous Donna Summer with Jay Styles electro take on her version of “La Vie En Rose” and if anyone ever doubted her vocal abilities, I think this puts it to rest. I also think everyone should check out the fabulous “Can’t Sleep” by Sweden’s Adrian Lux. This might very well be the first ever all out gay video I’ve ever seen for a song. If you’re queasy about two men hugging and kissing, then that may not be for you. Instead, close your eyes and imagine and man and a woman.
Frankly, the song can pertain to just about any relationship. One last song I wanted to mention was Sharam’s massive “Get Wild” with fantastic vocals provided by American Idol’s ‘fallen angel’ Mario Vasquez. I guess things haven’t quite panned out as well as he hoped after leaving the show mid-stream. Nevertheless, the guy’s got talent and no doubt will find his way soon enough. This is a damn good start. I don’t have a lot of time to go on, but rest assured, for those of you that live for the System Editions, it will not disappoint. Enjoy!

I never thought in a million years that I would be forced to remove a DJ Meme or Mark Pichiotti tune from my mix, but that day has arrived. It's not even because they were bad songs; on the contrary, they were quite stellar.
Unfortunately, I have to look at two things when I'm forced to start consolidating a mix to get it down from say three sets to two: 1) Will the song work in a variety of areas allowing me to use it properly 2) Is it really worth salvaging? Of course, the first question is the most important, because if it doesn't flow well then question #2 is rather pointless. I just hope the house gods show some forgiveness this go around.
Regardless, there is plenty of brand spanking new DJ Meme contained in the two sets to keep the wolves at bay. The one song that was removed will resurface in the future "Catching Up with DJ Meme" set I have planned for early May. Right now I'm waiting on one new mix of his that is about to be released by Joey Negro's 'Sunburst Band' "Sitting On Top of the World". Once that arrives I'll get down to making what should be a very outstanding set of DJ Meme mixes dating back several years. This is something I've had planned for a while because I know he is currently working with his own band, much like Joey Negro which may very well be touring this summer; something definitely worth watching out for. In the meantime, check out DJ Meme in the studio with his orchestra working out the arrangement for the song. Warning! You may slobber yourself, wet with anticipation.
For now, I'm serving up some delicious funky house on the soulful tip with some jazzy elements to keep it fresh. Trust me, it doesn't disappoint. I want to dedicate this mix to those followers of Party Favorz from Colorado. I realize many parts of the state are buried under several feet of snow with more on the way; my sympathies go out to you. Hopefully, you'll find playing these mixes will warm up your house until your surroundings begin to thaw. I'm confident that will happen soon enough, so just show a little faith and as Suzanne says "believe".
That's all I got for you guys (and gals). I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Barring any interruptions, I'll be back next week with the next installment of the System Edition. Until then, remain optimistic and cheery and as always.enjoy!

T-Dance Edition 2009 Volume 2 (Take 1)

Originally this was going to be a three-mix set. I had thrown in some experimental house into the mixes that I really enjoyed but was concerned that many of you may not be ready to go on that journey with me just yet.
Besides, this has been one of the longest winters in recent memory and I think people need a healthy dose of summer to help improve their mindset. However, I did manage to keep a few songs that I think you can easily digest.
Whether it's the jazzy renderings of Kerri Chandler's "Track 1 Revisited", the Earth, Wind & Fire stylized "Higher High" by Ralf Gum and Daniel Thomas, or the all-out disco romp of Liquid Gold's "Dance Yourself Dizzy" these are all elements I have not used before and there are certainly more twists in the second take of this set scheduled for a Saturday release. Nevertheless, they all gel quite well into this stylized funky, and soulful set that will have you relaxing one minute and up on your feet the next. There are no losers here, just pure joy!
I did want to make one little side note about the Liquid Gold song. LG was a disco group out of England that in 1979 had a top 5 disco hit "My Baby's Baby" on the Parachute Label, which was a subsidiary of you guessed it, the famous Casablanca Records. "Dance Yourself Dizzy" was the follow-up song released by the group later that year and peaked at #26 in 1980.
For the most part, I think this song pretty much fell under the radar and I was surprised to see two outstanding remixes for it (7th Heaven and Yomanda), instead of their first (and only) memorable hit. After all, "My Baby's Baby" was also a top twenty hit on the pop charts.
Regardless, "Dance Yourself Dizzy" has all the entrapments of pure cheezy disco and will no doubt have you on your feet spinning around while the mirrorball lights accent your every move. You can read more about the group and an entire lot of other disco greats with amazing mixes to boot at T.M.L. Enjoy!

Spring Edition 2009 Volume 3
Sunday Apr 12, 2009
Sunday Apr 12, 2009
Here at Party Favorz, I don't take a break okay, once in a while, but when it comes to serving up some of the freshest beats on the circuit, there's no time for disco naps or egg hunting. This is the final edition of spring and boy oh boy is it a scorcher! Starting off with Yinon's take on Deborah Cox's "Beautiful U R" which is an amazing prog mix that has a beautiful drop about 2/3 of the way in. Deep, dark, and haunting, this is truly an amazing song that is supposed to have a second set of mixes coming out soon. In the meantime, Deborah also collaborated with Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Laidback Luke for the star-studded "Leave the World Behind" which will be featured in my upcoming System Edition; so be on the watch for that.
You may be scratching your head and wondering what the hell Acorn, I mean Akon is doing on this mix; especially since he's not a particular favorite of mine. Because Tracy Young worked this song every which way but loose! If you can get past the vocals, Tracy's "Monster Mix" is worth the price of admission. I already mentioned Razor 'n' Guido in my last post, so just know their re-work of the classic "Drop a House" is HOT!
The Chriss Ortega mix of "My Life Would Suck Without You" had already appeared on my last BPM Edition, but is the only entry for this song that's worth the play. I really expected more from Tommy Sunshine and Friscia and Lamboy, but they basically turned in a mix that Jason Nevins could have worked out had he been asked to mix the song eh!
Then we've got the return of Depeche Mode and the elusive Peter Rauhofer mix currently only available as a promo. Why they left it off the commercial release is beyond me, because Peter's mix is not only the best but smoldering. I am a little concerned that David's vocals are not up to par, leaving one to wonder.
We finally get some new mixes for Rihanna's "Breaking Dishes" and Ralphi, true to form, did not disappoint. I liked the 'Soul Seekerz' mix well enough from the original remix album that was released in conjunction with "Good Girl Gone Bad", but this version brings it to life. I just hope those are Chris' dishes she's breaking; in fact go ahead and bust his balls while you're at it.
Probably my biggest disappointment here is the Junior Vasquez take on "Please Don't Leave". An absolutely beautiful song in its own right, I do believe he could have done better. This mix isn't bad but would have been better served with the full vocals. Sadly, P!nk's label didn't commission many mixes for this, though the Digital Dog mix (which appeared on my last BPM Edition) is still the best version and retains all the elements that make this song so moving.
One of the weirdest treats in this mix comes from Jipsta's "I Want Your Sex". If you were thinking 'George Michael"', you thought right. I always thought this song was ripe for a remake, but never in a million years did I think a hip-hop/rapper would re-do it. All I can say is HELL YEAH! This song rocks and is accompanied by a ton of excellent mixes. I don't usually use Mike Rizzo except in the BPM mixes, but his slamming take warranted inclusion.
The Perry Twins in collaboration with Niki Haris turn in a really fun song and is considerably beefed-up mix by the Escape & Capello team, who are currently riding high with one club hit after another. Another welcome surprise comes from Cevin Fisher. After last year's remake of his classic "You Got Me (Burnin' Up)", Cevin dove right back in his bag of goodies and brought out another classic "The Freaks Come Out". As with the last release, the mixes for this song are all stellar. I went with the Prok & Fitch remix because they are one of the underground darlings in the house scene at the moment and deliver a very memorable grind for this song. This is going to be HUGE!
Capping off the mix, Nick Harvey delivers a tribal lover's dream with "Beat on the Drum" and the amazing Allan Natal take on Luis Er...
