EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

I've got a big week setup for the underground house lovers. So much so, I went ahead and knocked out all four mixes on Sunday. I've been somewhat busy and haven't had a chance to preview everything before I sent it up, so don't expect perfection. Based on what I've heard so far, it's pretty damn close. In fact, not bad for whipping up these sets in just under two hours. Actually, it takes longer to go through everything and decide what to keep and then have to remaster any song that's not up to par with the rest. I did that on Saturday. Overall, I'd have to say I'm very pleased.
Once again I've put together some of the best in progressive, house, tech, electro and minimal to create a journey through the underground. Granted, there are definitely a handful of tunes on the commercial tip, but that just helps shape the overall tone of these four sets. If you haven't heard the superstar collaboration between Steve Angello, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Laidback Luke with vocals by Deborah Cox yet, then you're in for a big treat. Not unlike the brand spanking new David Guetta & Kelly Rowland tune, it hooks you and never lets go. Don’t worry, that tune is coming up in a later mix.
Obviously, we also have the fabulous Donna Summer with Jay Styles electro take on her version of “La Vie En Rose” and if anyone ever doubted her vocal abilities, I think this puts it to rest. I also think everyone should check out the fabulous “Can’t Sleep” by Sweden’s Adrian Lux. This might very well be the first ever all out gay video I’ve ever seen for a song. If you’re queasy about two men hugging and kissing, then that may not be for you. Instead, close your eyes and imagine and man and a woman.
Frankly, the song can pertain to just about any relationship. One last song I wanted to mention was Sharam’s massive “Get Wild” with fantastic vocals provided by American Idol’s ‘fallen angel’ Mario Vasquez. I guess things haven’t quite panned out as well as he hoped after leaving the show mid-stream. Nevertheless, the guy’s got talent and no doubt will find his way soon enough. This is a damn good start. I don’t have a lot of time to go on, but rest assured, for those of you that live for the System Editions, it will not disappoint. Enjoy!

I never thought in a million years that I would be forced to remove a DJ Meme or Mark Pichiotti tune from my mix, but that day has arrived. It's not even because they were bad songs; on the contrary, they were quite stellar.
Unfortunately, I have to look at two things when I'm forced to start consolidating a mix to get it down from say three sets to two: 1) Will the song work in a variety of areas allowing me to use it properly 2) Is it really worth salvaging? Of course, the first question is the most important, because if it doesn't flow well then question #2 is rather pointless. I just hope the house gods show some forgiveness this go around.
Regardless, there is plenty of brand spanking new DJ Meme contained in the two sets to keep the wolves at bay. The one song that was removed will resurface in the future "Catching Up with DJ Meme" set I have planned for early May. Right now I'm waiting on one new mix of his that is about to be released by Joey Negro's 'Sunburst Band' "Sitting On Top of the World". Once that arrives I'll get down to making what should be a very outstanding set of DJ Meme mixes dating back several years. This is something I've had planned for a while because I know he is currently working with his own band, much like Joey Negro which may very well be touring this summer; something definitely worth watching out for. In the meantime, check out DJ Meme in the studio with his orchestra working out the arrangement for the song. Warning! You may slobber yourself, wet with anticipation.
For now, I'm serving up some delicious funky house on the soulful tip with some jazzy elements to keep it fresh. Trust me, it doesn't disappoint. I want to dedicate this mix to those followers of Party Favorz from Colorado. I realize many parts of the state are buried under several feet of snow with more on the way; my sympathies go out to you. Hopefully, you'll find playing these mixes will warm up your house until your surroundings begin to thaw. I'm confident that will happen soon enough, so just show a little faith and as Suzanne says "believe".
That's all I got for you guys (and gals). I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Barring any interruptions, I'll be back next week with the next installment of the System Edition. Until then, remain optimistic and cheery and as always.enjoy!

T-Dance Edition 2009 Volume 2 (Take 1)

Originally this was going to be a three-mix set. I had thrown in some experimental house into the mixes that I really enjoyed but was concerned that many of you may not be ready to go on that journey with me just yet.
Besides, this has been one of the longest winters in recent memory and I think people need a healthy dose of summer to help improve their mindset. However, I did manage to keep a few songs that I think you can easily digest.
Whether it's the jazzy renderings of Kerri Chandler's "Track 1 Revisited", the Earth, Wind & Fire stylized "Higher High" by Ralf Gum and Daniel Thomas, or the all-out disco romp of Liquid Gold's "Dance Yourself Dizzy" these are all elements I have not used before and there are certainly more twists in the second take of this set scheduled for a Saturday release. Nevertheless, they all gel quite well into this stylized funky, and soulful set that will have you relaxing one minute and up on your feet the next. There are no losers here, just pure joy!
I did want to make one little side note about the Liquid Gold song. LG was a disco group out of England that in 1979 had a top 5 disco hit "My Baby's Baby" on the Parachute Label, which was a subsidiary of you guessed it, the famous Casablanca Records. "Dance Yourself Dizzy" was the follow-up song released by the group later that year and peaked at #26 in 1980.
For the most part, I think this song pretty much fell under the radar and I was surprised to see two outstanding remixes for it (7th Heaven and Yomanda), instead of their first (and only) memorable hit. After all, "My Baby's Baby" was also a top twenty hit on the pop charts.
Regardless, "Dance Yourself Dizzy" has all the entrapments of pure cheezy disco and will no doubt have you on your feet spinning around while the mirrorball lights accent your every move. You can read more about the group and an entire lot of other disco greats with amazing mixes to boot at T.M.L. Enjoy!

Spring Edition 2009 Volume 3
Sunday Apr 12, 2009
Sunday Apr 12, 2009
Here at Party Favorz, I don't take a break okay, once in a while, but when it comes to serving up some of the freshest beats on the circuit, there's no time for disco naps or egg hunting. This is the final edition of spring and boy oh boy is it a scorcher! Starting off with Yinon's take on Deborah Cox's "Beautiful U R" which is an amazing prog mix that has a beautiful drop about 2/3 of the way in. Deep, dark, and haunting, this is truly an amazing song that is supposed to have a second set of mixes coming out soon. In the meantime, Deborah also collaborated with Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Laidback Luke for the star-studded "Leave the World Behind" which will be featured in my upcoming System Edition; so be on the watch for that.
You may be scratching your head and wondering what the hell Acorn, I mean Akon is doing on this mix; especially since he's not a particular favorite of mine. Because Tracy Young worked this song every which way but loose! If you can get past the vocals, Tracy's "Monster Mix" is worth the price of admission. I already mentioned Razor 'n' Guido in my last post, so just know their re-work of the classic "Drop a House" is HOT!
The Chriss Ortega mix of "My Life Would Suck Without You" had already appeared on my last BPM Edition, but is the only entry for this song that's worth the play. I really expected more from Tommy Sunshine and Friscia and Lamboy, but they basically turned in a mix that Jason Nevins could have worked out had he been asked to mix the song eh!
Then we've got the return of Depeche Mode and the elusive Peter Rauhofer mix currently only available as a promo. Why they left it off the commercial release is beyond me, because Peter's mix is not only the best but smoldering. I am a little concerned that David's vocals are not up to par, leaving one to wonder.
We finally get some new mixes for Rihanna's "Breaking Dishes" and Ralphi, true to form, did not disappoint. I liked the 'Soul Seekerz' mix well enough from the original remix album that was released in conjunction with "Good Girl Gone Bad", but this version brings it to life. I just hope those are Chris' dishes she's breaking; in fact go ahead and bust his balls while you're at it.
Probably my biggest disappointment here is the Junior Vasquez take on "Please Don't Leave". An absolutely beautiful song in its own right, I do believe he could have done better. This mix isn't bad but would have been better served with the full vocals. Sadly, P!nk's label didn't commission many mixes for this, though the Digital Dog mix (which appeared on my last BPM Edition) is still the best version and retains all the elements that make this song so moving.
One of the weirdest treats in this mix comes from Jipsta's "I Want Your Sex". If you were thinking 'George Michael"', you thought right. I always thought this song was ripe for a remake, but never in a million years did I think a hip-hop/rapper would re-do it. All I can say is HELL YEAH! This song rocks and is accompanied by a ton of excellent mixes. I don't usually use Mike Rizzo except in the BPM mixes, but his slamming take warranted inclusion.
The Perry Twins in collaboration with Niki Haris turn in a really fun song and is considerably beefed-up mix by the Escape & Capello team, who are currently riding high with one club hit after another. Another welcome surprise comes from Cevin Fisher. After last year's remake of his classic "You Got Me (Burnin' Up)", Cevin dove right back in his bag of goodies and brought out another classic "The Freaks Come Out". As with the last release, the mixes for this song are all stellar. I went with the Prok & Fitch remix because they are one of the underground darlings in the house scene at the moment and deliver a very memorable grind for this song. This is going to be HUGE!
Capping off the mix, Nick Harvey delivers a tribal lover's dream with "Beat on the Drum" and the amazing Allan Natal take on Luis Er...

Spring Edition 2009 Volume 2
Saturday Apr 11, 2009
Saturday Apr 11, 2009
After an uneventful night here in Fulton County, the rain has subsided. Happily, there are no tornados to report but we did get a lot of lightning and thunder. Several areas reported high winds and hail, but we were spared mother natures wrath. Seems to me when I posted last year's Spring Edition, we had similar circumstances. Though at that time there was a tornado downtown and you could see it on TV. The warning sirens went off to take cover, but Rick and I just sat there and watched it all unfold on the tube. Of course, it was a couple of miles away, so we didn't have cause for concern despite the loud sirens. Thankfully nothing happened this go around so I can bring you the second installment.
This set is jam-packed with some smoking hot tunes. I've got to say that Yoko Ono has become quite the club diva. It seems that ever since the classic "Walking On Thin Ice" was fabulously remixed by Danny Tenaglia (among several others) we have been treated to a new mix at least once a year. I don't know what it is about her since she never sold records amounting to anything and let's face it, she can't sing. Nevertheless, the minute a DJ gets a hold on one of her songs, they somehow manage to work miracles.
The Craig C (not to be confused with Craig J which I often do) mix is smoldering. We also get a follow-up to last years re-work of "Hot Shot" by Karen Young titled "Rendezvous With Me". As many of you know, Karen had a number one disco hit in 1978 with the latter and the story behind this song was that it was supposed to be the follow-up, but was never released. Instead, they released a track called "Bring On the Boys" which no doubt may end up being re-worked as well. In the meantime, MaxRoxx ripped this puppy apart with the original vocals intact. Just listen and you'll be blown away by how magnificent of a singer Karen really was.
Equally exciting is Razor 'n' Guido's return to the scene. I was all excited last year when the unauthorized remix of Britney's "Break the Ice" surfaced by the duo. It didn't just signal a return, but a return to true form. These guys know how to rock it out and "Get Up Stand Up" proves it. I expect more great things from them this year. Finally, I've got the Tony Moran remix of Utada's "Come Back To Me".
You might remember the equally hot Seamus Haji mix I used in my last BPM edition. To me, this reminds me a great deal of what Tony did with Rihanna's "Unfaithful" a few years back. Re-working a ballad for the floor can be daunting, but doesn't have to be, and this song proves it. In fact, I'd say it works in spades.
Right now, I just need to get out and move around. The sun broke through temporarily this morning, but we're now back in clouds with somewhat cooler temps. I hope everyone's having fun this holiday weekend. I'll be back tomorrow with the final take on spring. Until then.enjoy!

Spring Edition 2009 Volume 1

It's Easter weekend and time for mother nature to start showing us her softer side. After all, it is spring. You know, blue skies, budding flowers, mild temperatures, and pollen floating in the air wreaking havoc on millions of people with allergies. Instead, we've had a ton of rain over the past several weeks, and even dropped down into the upper 20s earlier this week. Thankfully, that began to clear out a couple of days ago.
Today we've been overcast with the threat of rain coupled with tornado warnings. Though I'm not a big fan of meteorologists, I do appreciate it when they're wrong in our favor. No rain so far and it does appear the sun is trying its best to make its way out from the clouds. This weekend should be perfect for putting on your big fancy Easter bonnet and hunting for eggs.
With that, I offer you the first of three brand-spanking new spring mixes to help out with whatever festivities you may have planned this weekend. Heck, even if you don't have anything planned, load this in the I-pod and make your own party. There are lots of goodies in this basket. From the beautiful Deep Step with Andy Bell (Erasure) providing vocals on "Promise You" and the 2009 workout of Shannon's 80s classic "Let the Music Play" to the inspirational "I Believe" by the Absolute with Suzanne Palmer.
You may even notice that I relented and included Britney's "If U Seek Amy" only because I know this is a favorite for many of you. I found the official remixes to be lacking any originality and settled on DJ Ranny's tribal workout instead. Sadly, even Ranny's magic can only do so much for this inane song. Nevertheless, the package as a whole is well worth it, as will be the subsequent takes to follow over the next couple of days. So, get ready for the weekend, and let's get ready to P-A-R-T-Y! I'll be back tomorrow with take two. Until then...Enjoy!

All I can say is that this has been an uneventful day. Rick and I headed out to South East Atlanta to pick up the radiator that I had purchased through a parts dealer the day before.
As soon as we got on the highway, traffic was jam-packed in all five lanes. I could barely make out the overhead sign that read "4 left lanes closed due to construction". You've got to be kidding me! Operating on a hunch, I waited until we got to the I-75 exit and went off in the opposite direction. I took the first exit and took a left on Howell Mill Road which runs parallel to the highway. I didn't know this for sure, I was just guessing.
Luckily, I was right and came out on the other side of the traffic jam. We finally made our way to the southeast part of town (an area I don't recommend to anyone venturing out on their own) and found the dealer. Getting back on the highway again was not a problem, because we were going in the opposite direction. Nevertheless, his friend lives in Suwanee about an hour out of Atlanta.
Once we got there, he got to work but had some problems removing the old radiator. After about thirty minutes of trying to remove it, he finally got it out and quickly installed the new one. He then put in some anti-freeze, ran some tests and we were back in business.
Now, I'm not telling this to everyone to bore you to tears, but it just goes to show how the only fabulous day we had to mess around, was wasted on other things I didn't really want to do. I know you say there's always tomorrow. Yeah, the rain moves back in yet again, followed by another cold front which should drop us back down to the 20s by Monday night. Oh JOY! You live, you learn, sh!t happens. Hopefully, mother nature will be kind to us again this next weekend. Now, on to the music!
The nice thing about being in the car for so long was that I got to preview this mix and was very happy with the end result. So much so, I decided to go ahead and put it out today, before I settle in for dinner and a movie. Though my ratings don't look like it, I really enjoyed take 2 more than the first. I know you've had enough reading, so I'll just let it speak for itself. Remember, I'll be back next week sometime with the Spring Edition. I hope everyone has a better weekend than I did and as always.enjoy!

Okay, folks, we're going to be moving into high gear for the month of April. I admit I've been behind, okay derelict in my duties of staying on top of the music. Though it took several days to complete, I finally got everything organized earlier this week. Over 1,000+ songs later, I separated anything I thought I would use into four folders including BPM, T-Dance, Spring Edition, and System.
There's more than enough new stuff to satisfy almost any taste. Starting with the third installment of the BPM edition, I will roll out a new mix in each category throughout the month.
Next week, I'll have the long overdue Spring Edition, just in time for Easter. I expect this will not be an easy task as I've got a lot on my plate this month, but I'll do my best to get everything released in a timely fashion so as not to get behind again.
Initially, I had four demos complete for this series; then I went back and consolidated much of it into two final mixes. Frankly, coming hot off of WMC, I haven't been all that impressed which made the editing process fairly easy. That's not to say that the music contained in these two mixes is bad because they're not. I'm just not hearing anything mind-blowing at the moment.
Some of the highlights in this take are a couple of 90s classic re-hash from Pronto (Gonna Make U Sweat) and Crystal Waters (Gypsy Woman). Both have been updated for today's floors quite well. I did take off half a star for "Gypsy Woman" because Tristan removed the La Da Di La Di Da from the song, which is damn near blasphemous. Though completely fresh, another throwback comes from the genius of Bob Sinclar. His collaboration with the Sugarhill Gang (a hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, a you don't stop the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie the beat) is nothing short of brilliant and complete fun. Maybe it was the "ooah ooah" that got me, I don't know, but I sure love this song.
We also have the long overdue remix of Kelly's "My Life Would Suck Without You" by Chriss Ortega, which is just as excellent as the original. Thankfully, no Jason Nevins mixes this time around, which would have been an obvious choice. Another song I had been waiting for since the radio edits came out in February is by American born Japanese artist Utada. Internationally, this girl is well known and has had massive success everywhere but here. It's a shame because she is very talented. In its original form, her new song "Come Back To Me" is a total break down tear-jerker. Seamus Haji works his magic much like he did on Mariah's "Touch My Body" to great effect. Also look out for the Tony Moran mix (think Rihanna's "Unfaithful") of this great song to appear on next week's Spring Edition.
For the most part, if you're a fan of the BPM edition, you'll love this mix. There really isn't a bad tune here, just several mediocre. I think you'll thank me for my editing decisions. I mean Britney's "If U Seek Amy" is pure junior high. It's immature, lame and doesn't even fit within the context of the song. So if you were hoping for that, it's not here nor will it be in future releases. The rest of the songs that deservedly got the ax put mediocrity to shame.
That's about all I got for today. Looking out my window, I see that our channel 9 meteorologist is once again way off her prediction. After two weeks of rain, we were supposed to have a nice sunny day today. Instead, it's still very much overcast. I am praying for some sunshine tomorrow so Rick and I can get out and enjoy ourselves. I'll be back early Saturday with the second part. Until then.enjoy!

As promised, I've got the next installment of the System Edition up and ready. In fact, I knocked out all three mixes yesterday and have been listening to them in the car while running errands and all I can say is that they kick some serious booty! Initially, I had planned on doing this later in March, but due to time constraints, I decided it was the easiest thing to put out on short notice.
I also wanted to exclusively bring in tunes from Stompy, but the Beatport top ten has been pretty amazingly diverse and outstanding since the beginning of the year. It’s nice to see more than just the same old ho-hum progressive tunes over and over. Diversity is the spice of life and certainly makes for better listening. I’m not sure if this has to do with the way they are promoting new selections or if people, in general, are hungry for more than the typical Adam K & Soha style tunes. That’s not to say they’re bad, because they aren't. It’s just when everyone under the sun starts apeing your style, it’s time to move on to something new and fresh.
Yeah, you will find some of those tunes over the three mixes, but they won’t comprise the bulk of the styles, which is a good thing. As I mentioned before, I’m not necessarily a chart whore, but with so much new stuff released on a daily basis, it’s hard to sit at my computer and go through each song one by one.
I already do that for my promo services; to have to wade through everything that comes out on Beatport, Traxsource, Juno and Xpressbeats (all my favorite download sites) is just damn near impossible. So, relying on what other people’s impression of a song is (hence the charts) makes my job all the easier. One thing I will say for certain is that between the three mixes, I’m delivering some of the hottest underground house this side of the Mason Dixon.
We’ve been having some exceptional Spring-like weather for the past several days which comes to an end tomorrow when the cold and rain move back into town. I hope it’s as nice where you are as it is here. I’ll be back tomorrow and Friday with the final mixes of this installment. Until then, ENJOY!

It’s the weekend…yeah! I’m serving up the final installment of SEv2 and this does not disappoint. Eclectic is best used to describe this mix. Whether it’s the hard-hitting funky electro of Herve (Mars), the 80s throwback of Muddyloop (Flight Night), the all too important massive party favor by Faithless (Music Matters), the Indie inspired “No Turning Back” by Gui Boratto or the re-working of the classic “Adagio For Strings” by DJ Yvan, everything fits tidily in this mix and flows from one joint to the next with utter ease. If you enjoy solid underground house, this is not to be missed.
After having been spoiled with some amazing Spring weather, crappy weather has pretty much settled into the ATL for the next few days. The cold and rain are enough to put a damper on life, but I won’t let it get me down. Why? Because I know sunshine days are around the corner; giving me something to look forward to. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and I’ll be back this coming weekend with the next installment of the Classix Edition now called the Chrome Edition. Until then…ENJOY!

First, I want to apologize for any anger that may have been perceived in my last post. It wasn't my intention to be so forthright, however, this site will in all likelihood continue on but may still turn into a pay-for-download service in the near future or I may just take it private. I'm sorry that it needs to be that way, but I can't have the same handful of people contributing month after month to this site for the benefit of everyone who never makes a small donation, much less comment. Fortunately, a few of you came through allowing me to continue uninterrupted. I want to give a shout-out to Glenn A., David V., Ian K., David H. S., Gary K., Charles R., and Rale E.
All of these guys have made generous contributions since the beginning of the year which has allowed me to cover my costs for the business account I have with Podbean. I expect that account will be downgraded by early April once I'm able to archive all of the mixes I re-uploaded for those of you that didn't get them the first go-'round. It's a shame that it will have to be this way, but I personally sink a lot of time and effort into the mixes, the cover art, and my own personal money into everything that constitutes this site. If you can't appreciate that, then I don't know what else to say.
In the meantime, I've got the second and final installment of the BPM Edition v2. I know I said there would be a third, but I decided it wasn't worth my time to generate another cover, so I took the last two mixes and combined them, throwing out half the songs that will most likely never appear on any future mix. I hope everyone has a great weekend and as always.ENJOY!
