EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

Party Favorz is a dance music podcast and mix series, founded by Keith (aka K j A M), that has been producing and distributing mixes since 2007.
The project’s origins trace back to 1999 in South Texas, where Keith was DJing at a gay bar. After-hours parties were a local staple, and Keith’s branded mix CDs became known as "party favorz"—a nickname that stuck.
The podcast was born by accident on a music-focused blog. Encouraged by friends, Keith’s blogging evolved into Party Favorz, a brand now connecting disco, house, EDM, and circuit trends to a global audience.
At its heart, Party Favorz is about celebration and inclusiveness. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you on the dance floor. It's about providing a soundtrack that serves any moment in your life—whether you're at the gym, poolside, or simply in need of joy.
So, crank it up and get the party started!

Electro-Funk Edition 2008 Volume 7 (Take 2)
Thursday Sep 04, 2008
Thursday Sep 04, 2008
Just a reminder, this will be my last mix for awhile since I need to focus on some other things for about a month or so. In the interim, I'm hoping to get several DJ's onboard who are interested in submitting a mix and I will create the cover art and promote you and/or your blog/MySpace/Facebook page. As this site continues to grow at a steady pace each day, you'll have very good exposure. If interested, please contact me through the 'about me' section of this site where you'll find my email address. I want to take this opportunity for the loyalist among you who have contributed (whether financially or comments) and subscribed to alerts via feed or email; you're always appreciated and I won't be gone that long. In the meantime, I hope everyone enjoys this mix and if you're living in the London vicinity, why not head on over the West End and check out Electroqueer night @ Barcode. Doors open at 8 pm and it should be a lot of fun! I should be back in about 30 days or so. Until then...ENJOY!

House Edition 2008 Volume 4 (Take 2)
Wednesday Aug 20, 2008
Wednesday Aug 20, 2008
Here it is, the second installment of the House Edition v4, served up on a sizzling hot platter of disco with a side of seventies soul. The ATL has already been experiencing some fall-like weather with cooler evenings and temps ranging in the low to mid-eighties during the day. Suits me fine as I always enjoy the transition from summer to autumn. I'll be starting the much delayed Classix Edition: 90's part deuce shortly. Until then, I hope everyone has a great week and until the next time...ENJOY!
Album : House Edition v4
Genre : Disco, Funky, House, Soulful
Year : 2008
Total Time : 1:19:54:00
Track : 1
Title : Third Time (Shave Main Mix)
Artist : Levi 5Star feat. Michelle Martinez
Funky house with a pulsating beat and Michelle demanding "did you think that I was easy?" Think of it as one of those "I Am Woman" empowerment songs with an urgency that demands R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Essential
Track : 2
Title : Hideaway 2008 (7th Heaven Club Mix)
Artist : De'Lacy
I'm going to be honest, I didn't know anything about this tune from 1995. I did hear some 2008 mixes that came out earlier this year, but I wasn't all that impressed, until now. Always lovin' the 7th Heaven vibe, this Hed Kandi promo has been rocking my world and guaranteed it will rock yours too. Essential.
Track : 3
Title : Can You Feel That Sound (Josh Harris' Club Mix)
Artist : Georgie Porgie
IT'S GEORGIE TIME! ...and he's serving up some serious optimistic funk like no other. Sometimes I think that no matter how bad things get, Georgie always remains upbeat. He's probably someone I should be hanging around with right now. Since that ain't gonna happen, I'll settle for this heavenly slice of positive attitude. Essential.
Track : 4
Title : Let It Go (Groove Assassins Remix)
Artist : Afterlife feat. Cathy Battistessa
Bringing the vibe down, we move into this slow-burning number with a very addictive bass line and soothing vocals by Cathy Battistessa. Essential.
Track : 5
Title : Come Into My Life (Haldo's Original Mix)
Artist : Haldo feat. Erika Scherlin
When I saw this, I was hoping it might be a remake of the Joyce Sims classic from back in the day. Sadly, it is not. However, that certainly doesn't take anything from this song. Though not bad, it just feels like something is missing to really lure the listener in. That being said, there are several fantastic dub/vocal mixes that accompany the package that many of you might favor. Also, check out Haldo's Floor Mix which kicks it up a notch.
Track : 6
Title : How Long (Davidson Ospina Vocal Remix)
Artist : Linda Clifford
I've been all over this song since I used the Paul Goodyear version in my Pride Edition v3. Ospina keeps the high tempo of Paul's mix but dresses it down in strict 90's house fashion. Now that we have the official remixes currently available on disc at Perfect Beat, I'm still hoping Linda's pal Ralphi hops on board with one of his sizzling peak hour mixes. Outstanding.
Track : 7
Title : Release Your Mind 2008 (Richard Earnshaw Remix)
Artist : Syke 'n' Sugarstarr
What if Barry White hooked up with Richard Earnshaw and Syke 'n' Sugarstarr then created a funky house masterpiece? Folks, this IS what it would sound like. Essential.
Track : 8
Title : Keep On Push (Outwave Project Remix)
Artist : Alex Barattini
Another song with a positive attitude set to swirling strings and a big disco beat. I'm really into these mixes that use the old school orchestration. Can you imagine what it must have cost for some of those seventies classics to be put together with a full orchestra? Essential.
Track : 9
Title : Real Love (Original)
Artist : Highland Skies feat. Amanda Pryce
ABSOLUTELY LOVIN' THIS SONG! Definitely has the late eighties, early nineties vibe going on. I need to start looking out for more songs by Amanda because this is way beyond amazing. Quick, someone snatches her up and record a full album...we need more songs like this. Essential.

House Edition 2008 Volume 4 (Take 1)
Monday Aug 18, 2008
Monday Aug 18, 2008
I want to welcome everyone to the final House Edition of the summer. Don't expect another Beach House mix 'cause that ain't what's being served up. Instead, I purposely took this mix in a more uplifting direction full of fun disco house music. Granted, there's definitely a lot of soul to boot, but it is the 'fun' aspect I was focusing on. Besides, summer will end soon and I wanted to leave on a feel-good note. I hope all the disruptions this weekend didn't kill my vibe, but I think I really delivered on this one; not just on song choice but mixing as well. I'll be back tomorrow or the day after with Take 2 of this mix. Until then...ENJOY!
If you enjoy this podcast:
1. Leave me a comment at the end of this post. That's one of the ways I gauge what people are feeling and it ensures I'll continue making this type of mix in the future
2. Don't keep this site your little secret, tell your FRIENDS so we can keep this community strong.
3. Donate via PayPal to help keep Party Favorz going. I can assure you that all donations received goes right back into this site to help cover the costs associated with hosting and the purchase of new music; even a couple of bucks/euros goes a long way.
Album : House Edition v4
Genre : Disco, Funky, House, Soulful
Year : 2008
Total Time : 1:19:55:00
Track : 1
Title : It's Yours (Joey Negro Remix)
Artist : Jon Cutler feat. E-Man
With a ton of support from a variety of DJs, this is destined to be a late summer smash. Of course, I'm always partial to Joey and he certainly did not fail to deliver. Essential
Track : 2
Title : Love Me (Sergio D'Angelo Remix)
Artist : Steve Paradise feat. Kiara S
The vocals on this song alone are worth the price of admission alone. Amazing song, even better vocals and a stellar remix by Sergio; this is the full meal deal. What a package! Essential.
Track : 3
Title : I Love America (DJ Meme Main Club Mix)
Artist : Hanna Hais
I for one would have never thought about doing a remix of the Patrick Juvet disco club hit from 1979. I had to go back and dig out my Casablanca Records box set to refresh my memory. After listening to both, I gotta say DJ Meme was definitely the guy for the job. I've really been digging his work lately and this mix does not fail to disappoint. Essential.
Track : 4
Title : Gotta Have House (Do You Remember) (Knee Deep Anthem Mix)
Artist : Knee Deep & DJ Spen feat. Biblical Jones
Yet another song about 'house music'. Nevertheless, Knee Deep live up to their name and really punch the groove out in their mix, making this an obvious choice for a night out in Ibiza.
Track : 5
Title : Show Me How Good (Arduini-Pagany Philly Vocal Mix)
Artist : Arduini & Pagany feat. Vale Ducros
Ahh, picture yourself under the disco lights getting all caught up in the swirling strings. This feel-good number is instantly catchy and definitely memorable. Essential.
Track : 6
Title : Down (Vocal Club Mix)
Artist : Freak 'n' Funky
Boogie Oogie Oogie...need I say more? Essential.
Track : 7
Title : Where Love Lives 2008 (Soulshaker Remix)
Artist : Alison Limerick
Earlier this summer, I previewed an amazing electro version and now we have the Soulshaker remix. Well, we all know that Soulshaker has definitely been on a roll lately and this song just continues that pattern with their take on this early 90's classic. Essential.
Track : 8
Title : Underlying Feeling (Soulshaker Remix)
Artist : Sylvia Tosun
After failing to really make a dent with her amazing "Head Over Heels" track back in early December, Sylvia is back with her follow-up. Folks, this is an ultra-catchy tune with a couple outstanding remixes to suit everyone. Now if this doesn't hit, then something is just ain't right in clubland. Essential.
Track : 9
Title : Falling (Earnshaw's Vocal Re-Touch)
Artist : Soulmakers
Not an instantly gotcha song like its predecessors in this mix, but once you get into it, you'll be feeling the groove too.

Madonna and Me: A Personal Journey Through Music and Identity
Tuesday Aug 12, 2008
Tuesday Aug 12, 2008
In 1983, as a high school junior, my part-time gig was at a local record shop. Madonna burst onto the music scene that same year, amplified by the new MTV channel we'd just added to our TV lineup. The era was marked by Reaganomics, while my parents globe-trotted thanks to dad's booming shoe business.
Though "Holiday" a Top 20 hit and #1 Dance Club hit, it wasn't until "Borderline" and "Lucky Star" that everyone really began to pay attention. I couldn't pinpoint it then, but there was an undeniable aura around her. A year later, I was livng in Austin (TX), working for the Austin American Statesman by day and Hastings Records by night. Madonna's "Like A Virgin" had just hit the shelves, and despite the critics' disapproval, she was the name on everyone's lips. Lucky me, I snagged free tickets to her Virgin Tour (and Prince’s Purple Rain Tour) because my coworkers opted for Bruce Springsteen. Both shows were transcendental, turning me from a fan into an outright devotee.
Fast-forward a few years, I was back in my hometown, newly enrolled in college, and newly out as gay. Now legally allowed in clubs, my introduction to the gay scene coincided with "Express Yourself" ruling the airwaves. A weekend trip to Houston's Rich's gay Club was the turning point for me. Dancing to Madonna and Donna Summer, surrounded by a sea of faces, I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging. This was home, and Madonna’s anthems were the soundtrack to my newfound freedom.
From then on, Madonna became an ever-present force in my life. Her music was my pick-me-up, her headlines were my intrigue, and each new album was a gift. The Queen of Pop was my constant companion through every up and down, a ritual I maintain to this day. Call her whatever you want — Material Girl, Business Mogul, or Controversy Queen — she’s eternally the one and only Madonna.
Happy Birthday. XOXOXO.
Donate and keep the party going!

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 9 [Take 2]
Saturday Aug 09, 2008
Saturday Aug 09, 2008
Welcome to the weekend wrap-up as I submit to you the final installment of the Deep series. One of the things I enjoy most about making this edition is the ability to throw in whatever I'm feeling at any given moment. Some of the past Deep Editions were a more soulful deep house, while others were eclectic falling anywhere between funk, acid jazz, deep house, tech house, and/or soulful.
Clearly, this series has been more on the progressive side of the coin. This mix starts out hitting hard before lowering the tempo a bit and keeping the overall feel somewhere in the middle. I managed to combine progressive, tech, electro house, and even a trance tune for good measure. Overall, I'm very pleased with the end result and hope you are too.
Next week is Madonna's 50th birthday, and there will be a slew of celebrations from coast to coast and worldwide. In honor of this milestone in her life, I put together a megamix showcasing various music and styles throughout her 25 years in the industry. I know it's all been done before (even by me) but I plan to take it in directions that no one ever has. At least not that I ever heard in the countless Madonna mixes all over the Internet. So get prepared, because the party is just getting started.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and as always...ENJOY!

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 9 [Take 1]
Friday Aug 08, 2008
Friday Aug 08, 2008
We're halfway through the summer deep series, and it feels like I'm just getting started. While I like all of these mixes for various reasons (usually mood), I have to say this mix really packs a punch with back-to-back top-notch tunes. That's right, no HHH ½ filler here. Oftentimes, the mixes are only as good as the song selection.
Granted, wading through 500+ songs and narrowing it down to a fraction of that amount is no easy task. I typically don't spend much time previewing. I'll drop in the song towards the beginning and then skip to the middle. I hit the delete button if the song hasn't grabbed my attention by that point. Yeah I know, I can be tough and may even be bypassing a gem, but it's a system that has served me well and this mix only proves that.
I'll be previewing the 4th and final volume this morning as I head out the door with my husband. We've been reduced to a one-car family at the moment, so I take him to work out of town. That's okay. It gives me a chance to listen to the mixes before giving my final stamp of approval. Based on preliminary previews, I do believe the final installment is equally HOT!
One last thing, If anyone hasn't figured it out yet, to download the mixes just hit 'play' on the mp3 player, and a 'download link' will appear just above the player. Cool, huh? Enjoy the last day before play, and I'll be back tomorrow to wrap this series up. Until then...ENJOY!

Deep Edition 2008 Volume 8 [Take 1]

First of all, I want to make the iTunes folks aware that my new podcast address https://partyfavorz.podbean.com/feeds has now been accepted by iTunes and you will now be able to subscribe once again. Remember, this is a different feed address from the last one and as such requires previous subscribers to go back and subscribe again. I changed it so that everything would be consistent between my blog and my podcast. I guess you could say it's all about branding.
Second, I want to welcome everyone to the eighth, yes #8 installment of the Deep Edition. Geez, where has the year gone? What was once the least of my mixes has now turned into the second most popular next to the Electro-Funk Edition. While I use a varied style in the deep mixes, this one leans heavily towards progressive, tech, and house. Because I haven't done one of these in well over two months, I must have had 500+ tunes to wade through.
I narrowed that down to 48 and then went back and added about nine more taken from Beatport's current top 25. From that, you get a total of 56 kickass tunes spread over 4 mixes. Each mix will clock in over the 80-minute mark I usually edit them down to. Why? I just won't have the time for the editing. So if you're not using an mp3 player for the mixes and like to burn to CD, then it's time to start making a jukebox disc (mp3 CD) that can be played in most newer car stereos and DVD players.
I will be adding another mix each day through Friday. So sit back and relax and enjoy the sounds of the underground. I'll be back with another HOT mix tomorrow.

Summer Edition 2008 Volume 2
Friday Aug 01, 2008
Friday Aug 01, 2008
...and finally we wrap up the summer circuit scene with the v2 mix of the Summer Edition. All I can say is HOT! In fact, just as hot as the guy on the cover...yummy! If you're looking to cool down, this ain't the place. I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I'll do my best to be back next weekend with the long overdue Deep Edition. ENJOY!
Album : Summer Edition v2
Genre : Circuit, Tribal, Progressive
Year : 2008
Total Time : 1:19:49:00
Track : 1
Title : Ready For This (South Lovers Drumma Re-rub)
Artist : Edson Pride
Track : 2
Title : Deeper (Original Mix)
Artist : Nick Terranova
Track : 3
Title : Control Yourself (Michael T Diamond Immediate Release Mix)
Artist : Erin Hamilton
The 2nd round of mixes came out a couple of weeks ago and contains Manny's vocal version, which still rules. However, everyone has been clamoring about the Michael T. Diamond mix and rightfully so. I can't remember the last time Michael has served us a production. Apparently, he's still in fine form taking 'Control Yourself' in a completely different direction than any of the mixes between the two discs. He manages to strip the big tribal beats out in favor of a more electronic approach which was perfect for transitioning to the electro atmosphere of this mix. Outstanding!
Track : 4
Title : Into The Nightlife (Soul Seekerz Vocal Club Mix)
Artist : Cyndi Lauper
One of my favorite songs from Cyndi's new album. While there's also an outstanding mix by Jody DB, the Soul Seekerz muster up a little more energy than his. Either way, you can't go wrong as both do a great job maintaining the essence of the original. "Shirtless wonders in my sight...under the light"...deliciously ESSENTIAL!
Track : 5
Title : Disco Lies (Freemasons Club Mix)
Artist : Moby
Looks like the Freemasons may be finishing up work on Beyonce's next album. We're finally being treated to some of their work on a handful of mixes this summer. Good thing, because 7th Heaven and Soul Seekerz have been on FIRE and successfully taking up their slack. I'm guessing this may have been done for the UK release of this single, since it wasn't available on the US version. Frankly, this beats them all hands down. Sorry Spencer & Hill. Essential.
Track : 6
Title : Middle Of The Dancefloor (Ranny's Miami Dub)
Artist : Jipsta
New York native Jipsta is at it again with his own brand of "homohop" (the breeding of circuit meets hip hop). While Edson did the honors again, it's Ranny's mix that steals the show moving it in a more electribe groove that better suits the song. For those that haven't heard the full vocal version, you should check it out as he flips the gender table around from traditional hip-hop songs. Fun & FIERCE!
Track : 7
Title : Shut Up And Let Me Go (Johnny Vicious Warehouse Dub)
Artist : The Ting Tings
All it took was an iPod commercial and this little 2 piece indie band out of the UK have exploded into mainstream consciousness. With great stripped down garage pop like "Great DJ", "That's Not My Name" and "Shut Up and Let Me Go" what's not to like? It's all about the guitar, bass and drum with a lot of attitude. Johnny clearly captures that vibe in his Warehouse Dub, shifting the original jangly tune to the electronic dancefloor. Outstanding.
Track : 8
Title : Fame (Twisted Dee's NYC High School For The Arts Peak Time Club Mix)
Artist : DJ Bill Bennett & Suzanne Palmer
We had a sneak peak of the Edson Pride mix back in May on my First Splash Edition, and now the first set of mixes are out with Twisted Dee taking top honors. Combining Suzanne Palmer's incredible vocals with the 1980 classic originally performed by Irene Cara was masterful. Obviously, full credit goes to Bill Bennett. The second single taken from his forthcoming major label album due in September. Bill is currently on his "Big Muscle" world tour, so if you get the chance, check him out live. Watch out for the much anticipated steamy video featuring Bil...

Summer Edition 2008 Volume 1
Thursday Jul 31, 2008
Thursday Jul 31, 2008
First and foremost, I want to thank Alex, Joseph, Nick, David V, David J, Klaus, and my good friend Glenn a.k.a. discoball for answering my call for help. Without it, I would have been forced to suspend this site for a while. That being said, with the kind of numbers Party Favorz has been drawing over the past several months and the disproportionate amount of downloads vs. contributors, it's a shame that people can't lend a hand to something they clearly enjoy. There's a lot more work that goes into this site than you could ever imagine.
For now, my plans are to keep the status quo as far as the site is concerned, though I will continue to look for ways to draw some type of revenue stream that would allow me to remove everything from my budget into one that solely exists for continuing operations. As I've previously stated, I'm not looking to get rich, just the ability to cover any costs associated with maintaining this site.
If you look to your left, you'll see I already have the cover art for the next several mixes up, so you know what to expect during the month of August. The only one missing is a cross-promotional mix I'll be making for Electroqueer out of the UK for their upcoming fall bash in London. Though I plan on getting everything released between now and Labor Day (September 1st), I won't make any promises. After that, I'll be sending out invitations to other DJs who want to promote their own site or their work while I take a rest.
Another thing I need to mention is that all links on this site including iTunes will be down until Sunday or so. My anal retentive self moved everything over from kjamproductions.podbean.com to partyfavorz.podbean.com over the past couple of days. I now need to go back and update all of the links on this site and re-associate my new listing with iTunes. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm guessing most everybody has already downloaded what they want from previous posts. If there's something you gotta have now, head on over to my Podbean account and you can get it there.
That being said, I've got my Summer Edition finally wrapped up. Once listening to both mixes you'll notice that the worlds of electro and tribal are merging and the electro-pop/funk stuff is really coming into its own. While there's always room for the standard circuit sound, this new direction of mixing it up really works and keeps things fresh. Wait till you hear the second slice of this mix, which will be posted tomorrow. Even I was blown away by the final result. For now, take what you can and as always...Enjoy!

Title : Hot Stuff (Let's Dance) (Eddies Anthem Mix)
Artist : Craig David
I've always like Craig David. He's good looking, has a great voice and was making some smart and sexy R&B tunes. It looks like his label is getting antsy and is grilling him for a major breakthrough hit. That's not to say the original is a bad song, because it's not. Borrowing heavily from David Bowie's 1983 smash "Let's Dance" Craig re-writes the entire song and moves into Usher territory. Eddie kicks it up 10 notches with his electribe take of the tune creating a big room electro stormer. While I wouldn't call this essential, it sure is a lot of fun.
Track : 2
Title : Break Me (Chris Cox Vocal Mix)
Artist : Tina Sugandh
I had to go and dig up some stuff on Tina, and all I can say is WOW! With roots firmly steeped in India, this girl is fracking HOT! The vocals play heavily on her Indian heritage, but it works almost to the point that you might confuse her with Inez. Nevertheless, it could take a few listens for you to come around. If not, check out Chris' 'Dub To Club Mix' instead.

Beach House Edition 2008 Volume 4
Sunday Jul 20, 2008
Sunday Jul 20, 2008
...and finally, I'm serving up v4 of the 2008 Beach House Edition. You can expect some of the best funky and soulful house of the summer, with a touch of disco in the mix.
In fact, whoever can tell me the original songs from which #8 and #14 were taken from will get...hmmm, let's see, oh yeah, my admiration. I'd give away a free t-shirt, but right now I'm ass-broke! The first should be obvious to most since not only was it a #1 disco hit in 1975, but a #1 pop hit as well.
The second was a #1 disco hit but barely cracked the top 40. However, if you were a faithful American Bandstand viewer every Saturday, you might very well remember it. For me, the hooks were instantly recognizable and I was wondering when someone would get around to sampling the latter. Even though they went far beyond sampling, in both cases, they pretty much ripped off the originals note for note. Thankfully they did because they're smokin' HOT!
Anywho, speaking of 'broke ass'...I'm WAY over budget this month and recently incurred some unexpected expenditures. In less than a week and a half, Podbean is going to deduct $39.95 from my PayPal account. Our good friend and loyalist, Discoball out of the UK, has already given $10.00 without even asking, and I thank him for that. What I'm asking is for every person that downloads and enjoys any of these mixes to make a $2 - $3 donation via my PayPal account to your right. If everyone did that, it would not only cover the cost of the Podbean for one month but could even cover it for several more. As I'm sure you must realize, I don't make a cent off of this site. I do everything I do for the sheer love of it. It's my passion.
However, if I don't have enough money to cover next month's fee, the account will be closed. Meaning no more mixes at all. If I have to come back in mid-August and pay a penalty to re-open my account, it will be a paid service. Meaning, I'll start charging for each mix. This is not a threat, nor should it be construed that way. I'm just laying out the facts. I'm certain money's tight for everyone these days, however, a simple monthly or bi-monthly donation of $2 - $3 ain't gonna break anyone's bank. This would allow me to continue providing some of the best (if not the best) mixes for your enjoyment on the net. I'm hoping in September to bring other DJs on board to showcase their stuff.
So, if we can keep this thing alive, I'll be back in 2 weeks with the Summer Edition followed by the Deep Edition, then Classix 90s pt. 2 and a very special promo only Madonna megamix just in time for her 50th. So I'm asking you to please help keep this site alive and more importantly FREE! Just think about what you're getting in return and you'll see how reasonable my request is.
That's it for now. Hopefully, I'll be back in 2 weeks with the Summer Edition. Until then...Enjoy!
