For The People | Songs From The Underground
Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
And the music keeps rolling with our final Underground House set of the year. Once again, this newly minted set pulls from a wide variety of genres to keep listeners, ravers and party-goers engaged. From Tech House, Bass House, Trance, Drum and Bass, and everything in between — "For the People" delivers the party and then some.
Things kick off slowly with the Danny Darko and Julien Kelland remake of the Rolling Stones classic "Paint It Black." This is one of the darker tracks in the Stone's catalog (next to "Gimme Shelter") and Danny Darko takes it even darker. There was a remix contest for the original and frankly, all the remixes officially picked for this release were excellent.
"Paint It Black" is followed by NERVO & Skazi's rework of the more recent "Faded" by Zhu — an equally dark track that put Zhu on the map. It's rare that a recent hit song like this gets a remake but this version is better than the original.
From there, things pick up as we move into the warehouse rave party you came here for. There are plenty of twists and turns in this set with much of it mashed to keep things flowing until we get to the next hard break and switch gears.
I enjoy making the Underground House mixes because the music options are limitless and it gives me greater creative control over what to use and decide on the direction I want to take. Not complaining about the other sets I make, which are by far more popular but I enjoy being able to stretch things to their limit.
Here in the United States, everyone is gearing up for Thanksgiving and I hope y'all have an enjoyable holiday with friends and family. I plan on dropping something special for Black Friday to help everyone get in the mood for power shopping, putting up holiday decorations, or just zoning out. I'm fairly certain y'all can figure it out. Just know that I plan on making it extra special this year.
Until then...ENJOY!

Never one to sit on my laurels — Party Favorz is back with our final FunkyDiscoHouseShit set of 2019 and boy is it a winner! Solid Gold Disco is a non-stop disco-lover's wet dream all wrapped up on a golden platter. It takes from a multitude of familiar beats of the 70s, 80s, and 90s and wraps them up in a tight package with a giant bow on top making these tracks as fresh as if they were delivered to your door today. It really doesn't get any better than this.
Now that my workstation is back and better than ever — I've got a lot of ground to cover to ensure I stay on track for what is the busiest time of the year for the podcast. If I were you, I'd pay close attention because I'll be dropping bombs one right after another — enough to keep you in the holiday spirit (clears throat) no matter your genre preference. If you like everything I'm delivering — you're going to be really busy.
I won't be unwrapping your presents before it's time, so think of each release as a new gift from me to you as we count down the 30 days of Christmas. Until the next time...ENJOY!
On a final note — Party Favorz is not averse to receiving gifts either. If you like what I'm delivering and are feeling in the holiday spirit, feel free to buy a cup of coffee. The donation link is now up and active.

Prince | Dance Music Sex Romance
Thursday Nov 21, 2019
Thursday Nov 21, 2019
Whether he went by his official name Prince Rogers Nelson, The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, a symbol that represents both the male and female genders or, just The Artist — we all know the man by Prince.
Prince was an American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer, actor, and filmmaker. He was a prolific writer and recorded so many songs that his fight with Warner Brothers lead them to put the breaks on his releases for fear of oversaturation. He often gave songs away for free under different pseudonyms like "Manic Monday" by the Bangles (Christoper), "Sugar Walls" by Sheena Easton (Alexander Nevermind), "Jungle Love" and "The Bird" by the Time (The Starr ★ Company). Also, his music was covered by other artists — most notably "I Feel For U" by Chaka Khan, "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor and even the John Cougar Mellencamp produced "When You Were Mine" by Mitch Ryder among many others.
Prince also produced several acts like the Time (mentioned above), Sheila E (Glamourous Life), and Vanity 6 (Nasty Girl) as well as a host of others.
Ultimately, Prince was one of a dozen artists that provided the soundtrack to the eighties. With musical styles that ranged from Funk, Rock, New Wave, Soul, Psychedelia, and pop, he was considered the quintessential artist in that he drew his inspiration from people like David Bowie, James Brown, Sly & the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, George Clinton, Miles Davis among many others and it showed in his music and performances.
In 1985, I was living in Austin, TX, and working as a copy clerk for the Austin American Statesman and part-time for Hastings Records in the mall. We frequently received free tickets to concerts and Bruce Springsteen and Prince were playing weeks apart from each other. I was a fan of both artists but there were only so many tickets to go around so I opted for the Prince tickets. These were for his Purple Rain tour and my best friend Dan and I went to the concert where he put on a 2-hour funk and rock extravaganza as we had never seen. His performance was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and has stuck with me as one of the most memorable I had ever attended.
There is just way too much to cover about this man and his genius that hasn't already been written. The contributions that Prince has made to music, his guitar skills, his songwriting his production, and his everything make him one of the most admired if not influential artists of all time. While most of the tracks in this set stay fairly close to the originals — they are presented in their long form and re-edited for easy DJ mixing along with some notable modern-day remixes by Kue who did an outstanding job modernizing "Controversy" and "Purple Rain" for the dance floor.
It is with much love and admiration for the man known as Prince that Party Favorz finally pays him his due respect with this tribute. RIP my friend.

David Bowie: Let’s Dance [Remixed & Reimagined]
Tuesday Nov 19, 2019
Tuesday Nov 19, 2019
David Robert Jones (8 January 1947—10 January 2016), known professionally as David Bowie, is one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Fueled by a range of musical styles, Bowie often projected a variety of personalities depending on which project he was working on and where his musical interests lay at the moment. From Glam Rock to Disco and everything in between — he achieved massive success with his art that affected millions of lives with each evolving iteration.
Since his death in 2016, Party Favorz has received many requests to create a Legacy set featuring his work. Given the substantial output and variety of his catalog that goes back to 1969 — it was near impossible to do any justice to the legacy Bowie has left us — until now.
There's no doubt he would have gravitated toward the current electronic movement and even began remixing his work in the early 90s. That being said, with a variety of music styles and the ability to capture the true magic of his work — it is nearly impossible to recreate. Nevertheless, I persisted and pulled off something special for hardcore fans (such as myself) that at the very least extract multiple highlights of his career even if it's not all-encompassing. Frankly, a good portion of his catalog would be near impossible to translate to the dance floor. I have to admit, the Julian Marsh remix of "Space Oddity" and the 7th Heaven remix of "Rebel Rebel" is spectacularly executed, as well as several others.
I cannot deny the emotions that overwhelm me when I listen to his music as it brings back a flood of memories — some good, while others, not so much. It just proves that Bowie's music will stand the test of time.
It is with much love and respect that Party Favorz honors David Bowie with his own tribute to dance music. Some may consider this tribute blasphemy but there's no doubt this would have been his next act. RIP Ziggy.

HW19
Tuesday Oct 29, 2019
Tuesday Oct 29, 2019
Party Favorz really dug in yesterday to deliver the epic 40-song non-stop dance music club podcast HW19 featuring the latest club hits from the biggest hitmakers of the moment. Many of these tracks are hot off the presses and you'll likely be hearing them in your local club for months to come.
As usual, I like to put my own spin on these sets with fresh reworks of classic tracks from decades past. There is no shortage of classic cuts in this set featuring "Dancin" by Aaron Smith and Luvli, "Say My Name" by Damon Hess (Destiny's Child), "Cold Rock A Party" by Richard Grey & Lissat (MC Lyte and Missy Elliott), "I See You Baby" by Groove Armada, "Work It & Lose Control" by Missy Elliott, "Feel What You Want" by Kristine W, "Call On Me" by Eric Prydz, "Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake, and the obligatory Halloween favorite "Thriller" by Michael Jackson.
Each of these tracks has had new life breathed into them by the various remixers who've given them a fresh new perspective.
I really wanted to get these all out by Friday but things kinda slipped away from me but better late than never. Technically speaking, Halloween isn't until Thursday and you can enjoy these sets without all the spooky noises and typical filler (i.e., gimmicks) employed by other DJs in their sets.
With my birthday rapidly approaching on Saturday, I wanted to give a shshout-outo David J. and Keith M. for their generous donations that helped cover some unexpected expenses this month including a pricey new DJ service (but worth it) and Billboard's new charge for access to their charts (which pissed me off).
As it stands, we're back on track. I plan on updating volume 2 of the Essential 80's Dance Mix as I noticed two breaks within Taylor Dayne's "Prove Your Love" with a third for the outro. I'll need to re-edit the track and check for anything else I may have missed. Sorry for the continuous need to update sets but it's unnerving for me to not fix something — especially when it's a definitive series like this.
I've already mentioned two Legacy entries on tap but I may expand that to four. It depends on whether I have enough of these two artists to make it work so I'm not saying who they are just yet. I'll let it be a surprise that many of you had asked for in the past when and if they do pop up
My goal now is to get out the updated version of volume two of the Essential 80's Dance Mix followed by volume 4 sometime this weekend. Until then...ENJOY!

Halloween Edition 2019
Saturday Oct 26, 2019
Saturday Oct 26, 2019
I've been up since 4:00 this morning trying to get the Halloween Edition 2019 knocked out for you folks. I had been afraid there wasn't enough music to fill the set only to find out I had more than I could use. So much so, that I had to leave several great tracks on the cutting room floor because I didn't have time to go back and try to make them work.
Regardless, I still threw the entire kitchen sink at this and have NOT had the time to preview it yet. I'll do that later. If you find any errors — let me know and I'll fix them.
I still plan on having the next Dance Club set out by Tuesday at the latest. I have about 4 hours of MRIs tomorrow so I may have to pull an all-day marathon again to get it out in time. I wanted both sets out for this weekend but time has been an issue.
As soon as this is posted — I'm heading to bed as I'm exhausted. I'll be back in a couple of days. Until then...ENJOY!

80s Dance Music: The Essential Dance Mix Volume 3
Saturday Oct 19, 2019
Saturday Oct 19, 2019
Party Favorz is back with the captivating Essential 80's Dance Mix Volume 3, an incredible journey through the decade that gave us unforgettable classics in Funk, R&B Dance, and Rap's early days. This set, often referred to as the Urban mix, masterfully blends a selection of popular 80s dance music with one alternative dance mix and a handful of chart-topping pop tracks.
Developing this mix involved two weeks of careful track selection and editing to achieve the perfect blend and feel. A standout feature is the innovative mashup of Grandmaster Flash's anti-drug song "White Lines" and Herbie Hancock's "Rock It"— a fusion that beautifully showcases the evolution of 80s dance music.
This volume includes the irresistible rhythm of Janet Jackson's "Nasty," and the unforgettable beat of Rob Base & DJ EZ-Rock's "It Takes Two." There's the innovative fusion of rock and rap in Run-DMC's "Walk This Way," and the pioneering electro-funk sound of Herbie Hancock's "Rock It." The unforgettable melody of Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's "I Wonder If I Take You Home" and the ultimate party anthem of Salt N Pepa's "Push It" ensure the mix embodies the essence of 80s dance music.
Laid Back's "White Horse" and George Clinton's "Atomic Dog" deliver doses of synthesized beats that characterize the era, while Prince's "D.M.S.R." offers a taste of his unique fusion style. Lastly, Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" serves as a reminder of rap's humble beginnings before it exploded in the following decade.
Each track in this compilation adds a unique flavor to the mix, crafting a rich and immersive 80s dance music experience. So, put on your dancing shoes, and enjoy this nostalgic trip back to the era that changed dance music forever.
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Ultimate 80s Dance Music: The Essential Dance Mix Volume 2
Saturday Oct 12, 2019
Saturday Oct 12, 2019
Party Favorz presents The Essential 80s Dance Mix Volume 2, a harmonious blend of commercial, alternative, and pop-hit dance tracks, illustrating the rhythmic diversity of the 80s dance music era. A significant part of the 80s was the rise of Hi NRG, epitomized by Patrick Cowley's remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" and his later contributions to the genre, such as "Menergy" and "Megatron Man".
This volume also nods towards the gay community and the movement they helped define, which was deeply intertwined with the Hi NRG genre, as their music provided the soundtrack to a time marked by the emergence of AIDS.
Featuring an eclectic lineup, it juxtaposes tracks like Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" with When In Rome's "The Promise" creating an authentic 80s vibe. You'll find Madonna's "Into The Groove", Whitney Houston's "Love Will Save The Day", and Shannon's "Let The Music Play" among the mix, illustrating the varied landscape of 80s dance music.
Several tracks in this mix have been meticulously remastered from their original vinyl versions, ensuring authenticity while delivering quality audio. Notably, Madonna's "Into The Groove" has been shortened to maintain cohesion and Whitney Houston's "Love Will Save The Day" retains minor imperfections, reflecting the charm and texture of the period's music production.
This collection promises a nostalgic dive into the 80s dance music scene, encapsulating the era's sounds and the emotions they stirred. So turn the volume up and enjoy the rhythmic journey back to the 80s!
Until the next time...ENJOY!

Ultimate 80s Dance Music: The Essential Dance Mix Volume 1
Wednesday Oct 09, 2019
Wednesday Oct 09, 2019
Dive into the vibrant tapestry of the 80s dance music era with Party Favorz's first of six volumes of The Essential 80s Dance Mix. This collection celebrates the decade's dynamic shifts in dance music, amalgamating the standout tracks from our previous sets including Pure Energy, Pump Up the Volume, Hit That Perfect Beat!, and the Back 2 the 80s series.
The 80s music scene began on the foundation laid by disco. As the decade progressed, a transition towards synth-driven beats began to define the era's sound. This evolution is encapsulated in Duran Duran's "All She Wants Is", a song that perfectly captures the synthesizer-led trend of the mid-80s.
The underground scenes of Chicago and New York gave birth to a fresh genre midway through the 80s - house music. This style's mainstream breakthrough arrived by 1989 with Soul II Soul's club and pop radio hit, "Back To Life". Anthony & The Camp's "What I Like" exemplifies this rising house sound with its Extended Dance Mix, blending pulsating rhythms and layered vocals.
Grace Jones' "I'm Not Perfect", embodies the genre-blending spirit of the period, infusing reggae, new wave, and pop into a dancefloor-ready anthem. The late 80s also saw an explosion of pop dance tracks like Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance" which combined hip-hop elements with dance beats, becoming a defining sound of the era's end.
As the transitions between styles might seem stark due to the vast musical diversity we're showcasing, this compilation's richness encapsulates the multifaceted spirit of the 80s dance music era. Immerse yourself in these sonic gems that paint a vivid picture of a pivotal decade in dance music. Enjoy this trip. It is a trip. Countdown is commencing!

Party For The Weekend
Sunday Sep 22, 2019
Sunday Sep 22, 2019
It's a beautiful fall day in the ATL and Party Favorz is back with the finest Funky Disco House Shit this side of the galaxy. Party For the Weeknd is rich in Funky House, NuDisco, and Soulful burners that will get you in the mood as temps begin to drop in your area.
Andy Bach's "Systematic" kicks things off with a semi-familiar groove to many of you. The song is Toto's 1980 track from their 2nd album "99." While it wasn't a huge hit for them, the piano grooves are laid over a soothing house beat that will set you in the mood. This song had a few problems and I had to rebuild the intro because it was problematic. Nevertheless, I've gotten really good and reworked things to suit my needs.
From there, the temp picks up as we dive into more familiar NuDisco territory that the Funky House series is known for.
We also have some familiar classic remakes like "Caught In The Middle" originally performed by Juliet by Arduini & Pagany featuring Channelle with Eric Kupper doing the remix honors. Kim Cooper reprises her role as the ultimate diva in "Unique Diva" with Jamie Lewis and even pays homage to Peter Rauhofer who originally introduced us to the sultry singer back in the 90s under his Club 69 moniker.
Also, Sound of Joy featuring Virag remakes the Geraldine Hunt disco classic "Can't Fake The Feeling" with grace and soul while (Seamus) Haji & Emanuel reprise the massive "Party For the Weekend" simply titled "Weekend." This track was originally performed by Soulseekerz but I'm fairly certain it's a remake of an even older track from the 90s but I can't quite figure it out. Maybe one of my followers knows.
In the rework category, we have Los Amigos and Dimitri From Paris taking on the early 80's disco classic "Glad To Know You" by Chaz Jankel, Block & Crown featuring Kegyi remake of Michael Zager Band's 70's disco classic "Let's All Chant" with their take "Your Body." Finally, Jack's On delivers a faithful updated rendition of the massive disco classic "Relight My Fire" by Dan Hartman and Loleatta Holloway with Richard Grey at the remix control board.
This set also features three brand new Purple Disco Machine tracks with "Emotion," "Up & Down," and the just-released "Joys" by Roberto Surace, which are bound to be crowd-pleasers.
Other important tracks are "Don't Wanna Dance" by Boston Bun, "Heaven" by The Vision featuring Andreya Triana, "Falling Deep In Love" by Horse Meat Disco & Kathy Sledge (of Sister Sledge fame) and anything by Joey Negro who is a personal favorite of Party Favorz and is deserving of his Legacy entry sometime this year.
Finally, Roisin Murphy is back with the funky "Incapable" remixed by Dimitri From Paris who gives it a Stock Aitken Watermen 80's treatment that you'll gleefully find yourself dancing along to.
If it sounds like I'm overly excited about this set — it's because I am. It's been finished since Monday and I was just waiting on the advance of the Purple Disco Machine remix of Roberto Surace's track on Friday to finalize the set. I've had it on heavy rotation all week. Of course, it helps that the weather has cooled down, which generally puts me in a better mood as Fall is my favorite time of the year.
I plan on getting to work on the ultimate 80s Dance Mix that I've been promising and should start rolling those out by mid-week.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and until the next time...ENJOY!
For whatever reason, Podbean was not accepting my password — which had never been an issue. When I chose the "forgot password" option it never sent a link to my email to change it. It's taken over 24 hours to have them fix what was an issue with their system because I was still receiving other notifications from them about new users and unsubscribed users. What a headache. They finally got it fixed. Better late than never I suppose.

Change The Situation

Saturday Sep 14, 2019
Party Favorz is back with one of our most ambitious sets from the underground with Change the Situation. This set is intended to be more immersive as you take a journey through underground house music's finest offerings at the moment.
Think of it like a rollercoaster that starts at the top, immediately drops only to slowly climb back up, do a half drop before taking a sharp left that leads you through a corkscrew only to slowly ascend one more time before taking another terrifying dive into the abyss. OH HELL YEAH!
I love doing these sets because of the large playground they offer me in terms of whatever direction I feel like taking at the moment. Change the Situation features a bevy of genres Bass House, Breaks, Drum & Bass, Electro House, Progressive House, and the always favorite Tech House. It starts off with the Robbie Rivera remix of the Dave Winnel banger "Smoke Machine," which is just a tease of what you think is coming but doesn't really make an appearance until much later in the set. HA — fooled you!
There are plenty of chill moments but at the same time, this is not a chill set. For all those that like to shake up their musical listening environment from one week to the next — this set is definitely for you.
As for the cover art — expect more of these Resist images in future sets. With the world quickly moving towards fascism and protests throughout the globe from Hong Kong, Russia, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Venezuela, and likely soon the United States — The Underground is the perfect vehicle for conveying my support for the resistors throughout the world who have had enough of the lies, deceit, power-hungry, greedy politicians that are destroying our planet for profit all the while suppressing people's voices, sowing division between the races, enacting policies that solely benefit the haves while the have nots pay for their money lust. We've had enough. Putin, Trump, Johnson, Maduro, Bolsonaro, Netanyahu, and on down the line — you've been given burn notice.
I'm going to have a lot on my plate these next several months but I should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time so I can keep delivering the goods you folks expect. I've already compiled the next Funky Disco House set due to drop next Saturday, then the Ultimate 80's Dance collection I've been teasing, followed by a new Legacy entry all before we get to our annual Halloween fare. Then, I have a multi-set surprise Diva Hall of Fame that's going to wrap up one of our most prolific inductees. I'll just let you guess who that's going to be.
As you can see, there's a lot going on and just know that I'm on it. Until next the time — ENJOY!
