EDM & House Music: Party Favorz (Circuit, Funky & Dance Classics)

House Sessions Nov. 2k15 pt. 1

As 2015 begins to wind down, there is no better way to do it than with a pair of house sets that feature some of the seasons biggest and deepest house music.  In the last few years, Deep House has outgrown its underground status and crawled its way into our mainstream conscious making it more accessible while still retaining its roots steeped in house music.
I really worked these two sets out by picking up songs here and there, then a day later dropping some in favor of others until I got the perfect combination that hits my sweet spot.  As a result, it was inevitable that both sets ran over the 80-minute mark and for that, I'm not going to apologize.
I'm off today and tomorrow before the hectic shopping season is upon us, I'll be pulling in more work hours than sleep.  You may have remembered that I had applied and tested for a government position, which I was told was in the top 1% of candidates.  Well, I never heard back from them and my status online has no remarks, at all.  The other job I had, which I was planning on leaving for that one is with Amazon.  Yes, that giant behemoth in the cloud.  Within two months I was promoted and can actually see a future with the company but I gotta say their pay is a tad left of a decent living standard.  I won't complain, nor rail against them because they have a lot of fantastic people working there and I can clearly see a path to a brighter future for myself working with them.  In short, I'm taking lemons and trying to make a fabulous Martini LOL.

Jingle Electric 2015 pt. 1 | Massive EDM Hits!

Okay, folks, my head is spinning as I'm being pulled in a multitude of directions all at once.  I was gonna post this yesterday, but my anal-retentive self felt like creating more work for myself since I wasn't all that thrilled with this set.  I was off yesterday, so I sat down early in the morning and just reworked the shit out of this puppy from top to bottom and added a few new tunes to even out the flow.  The result is ...well, fucking fantastic and worth every effort of my time.
Originally, I intended on a double-set for this year's Jingle Electric but there just isn't enough coming out at this point to make that work.
However, I do have another dual deep house set on tap for next week and a dual Holiday Edition for the following.  As you can see, I am making the most of what little free time I have to stay ahead of the Party Favorz game.
Right now, I've got a demon smartphone from hell that feels like it has to buzz every time Facebook recommends something, an email, tweet, text or whatever comes in.  The problem is that it's relentless and keeps doing it every 5 seconds until I pick to damn thing up and wipe away the messages.  Think of it like a crying baby that wants its bottle LOL.  I've disabled all the notifications and put it on silence but it just won't shut the fuck up!  Frankly, I'm ready to throw it over the balcony.

Rollin’ in the Deep pt. 1

Say what?  Another house music set?  Hey folks, if you haven't been paying attention since last year, this is the direction that a lot of the EDM mainstream has been heading; so it only makes sense that there would be more of these sets than my traditional electro-house sets.  Even those, like last week's Ripe and Juicy had many elements of the deep bass sound that's prevalent in the current dance music scene.
To prove my point, go back and read what I wrote in last year's The Best in House 2015, as I had predicted the heavy influence of that sound seeping into the mainstream.  Eventually, it will correct itself as I am already beginning to hear some 80s influences which are coming across as pretty relevant today.  Think of it like a washing machine with all the different colors and fabrics being thrown into together.  What you get when it comes out are colors that bleed into others creating a whole new look for your favorite t-shirt, which is pretty cool. Then others begin to fade or tear creating a whole new category of clothing that's still wearable while presenting a whole new image.
With all that being said, I really just wanted to clear my hard drive so I can make room for the latest rounds of EDM, Circuit, and House music sets.  With all that I've got going on, I'm gonna lay things out for everybody.  You can expect the annual Jingle Electric (EDM) and Holiday Edition (Sexy Santa's for the circuit boys) and one final House music set before the end of the year.  BackSpins, Divas, Tributes, etc. are all taking a backseat for the remainder of the year.
I'm also sorry to announce what looks like the demise of the Year-End Edition (Time Capsule) as I don't see myself having the amount of time that's needed to complete it.  I may be wrong but the way things are going for me at break-neck speed with the job I didn't intend to keep because I was expecting to hear back from the government job I had applied for, it turns out I may continue working for a company that I really enjoy who are recognizing the talent I'm bringing to the table and if things keep going in their current trajectory, I could very well be sitting on top for the first time in a long time.  Nothing's written stone yet so I'll just have to wait and see; I'll know for certain next week.
I can pretty much guarantee the release of the wildly popular Blow Your own Horn all-night party set that I've put out the past couple of years for compensation.

Decompression pt. 2

I'm finally getting my bearings at work.  At 12 hours a day, 6 days a week I've decided to reconstruct my free time in a way that will allow me to spend at least some time doing the one thing I truly love ...PARTY FAVORZ.  Those that have followed me like forever and a year know that I am truly devoted to this site and that every time I try to throw my hat in the ring and walk away due to circumstances in my life; one way or another I get roped back in.  This time around, I ain't giving it up but will have to make some adjustments to make things work.
That doesn't mean I'll be posting at my usual break-neck speed but it does mean I'm in it for the long-haul or at least until one of our favorite divas dies or decides to call it quits then I'll take my cue to gracefully exit this space.
For now, I've got the second part to Decompression, which these days is exactly what the doctor prescribed; that and some bed rest but those two don't necessarily go hand in hand, so I'd stick with the music LOL.
No point in making predictions on what's going up next (though I've got a semi-map for the rest of the year) so you'll just have to keep following to see if your favorite genre pops up in the next few weeks. Until then ...ENJOY!

Decompression pt. 1

I've been pretty much drowning at work at here at home.  I've got a cat that keeps throwing up all over the place, an apartment that's a complete disaster (beyond anything I prefer to live in) and sliding patio door that doesn't securely close with an un-responsive complex that either can't or won't fix their shit and a neighbor that just backed into my car, then proceeded to give me his health insurance card instead of car insurance.  I've been sicker than anything I've experienced in ages (I rarely if ever get sick) then took half a day off yesterday and slept from 4 - 4.  I've got 10+ hours a day of work starting tomorrow through Friday and frankly don't have much time to devote to this site much-less myself.  So, please bear with me while I try to manage my life and attempt to get everything prioritized; I'm just a bit overwhelmed at the moment.  Please don't send any emails or requests as I'm getting well over two-weeks sitting in my inbox that I haven't even looked at yet.
That said, here is the latest funky house set I promised last week and I've got another set for next Saturday.  I haven't even started nor looked at the songs for EDM and don't know when I'll get around to it.  All I ask is patience while I sort these things out.

Fall Edition 2K15 pt. 2 | The Biggest Circuit Beats for Fall 2015

After staying up until 3 AM studying last night, I finally managed to roll my happy-ass out of bed where I promptly inserted a catheter in my arm and began my morning coffee infusion.  Now that I'm feeling slightly human, I thought I'd go ahead and get part 2 of the 2015 Fall Edition posted.
I've been monitoring the Top Posts on the site every day and I see some folks have been slamming my circuit sets pretty hard.  In particular, this year's Spring Edition has been consistently sitting at or near the top of the list.  I'm not so sure what's so special about that set (though they are all special to me) but hey, knock your socks off.
I also dug into Google Analytics to get more insight about my traffic (which has jumped up pretty significantly in the last couple of months) and saw that our good friends in Russia are back at it again.  You know the folks that create these bullshit websites full of T&A ads for porn that surround links to illegal downloads.  Apparently, they think Party Favorz is some sort of professional paid service so they download my shit and then re-post the mixes to some unsuspecting tool who doesn't know they can come here without the pop-ups, spam, adware, and viruses infecting your computer, but I'll digress.
I had mentioned last week that I had enough solid tunes for about three or four sets but was only going to create two.  However, when I went back and re-visited a lot of the songs that had been axed from the sets, I realized what a monumental mistake that would be.  So, I scrapped the entire part 2 set and started over incorporating many of the songs that would not have been included otherwise.  With the number of hours I've been putting in at work, I would sneak some mixing in the morning, some later at night, here, there and during any downtime, I had to get this puppy pushed out.  I'm glad I did because this thing is SLAMMING!  If you liked the first set, TRUST when I say you're gonna love this one!
Believe it or not, I've already got two new funky-house sets completed and stamped with my approval, and ready to go.  In fact, I got those done a few weeks ago but got side-tracked with the Fall Edition.  I'll start rolling those out next week, so it will probably be a few weeks before I bring in the latest EDM sets.
As hard is it is to hold back, I've made the decision to just drop one set a week to kind of give ya'll (and myself) some breathing room as opposed to dumping two or three sets a week.  Realistically, that's just not going to happen anymore.  I'm putting in about 60 hours a week at work and the fact I still manage to find the time to indulge myself on this site is pretty remarkable.

Fall Edition 2K15 pt. 1 | The Biggest Circuit Beats for Fall 2015

Happy Saturday!  I'm back after an extended break from the site with this year's Fall Edition.  Anyone that's followed Party Favorz for any number of years knows that means HOT cowboys.  Frankly, I'm not certain why I got hooked on the cowboy theme and tied it to my annual Fall series, but it works.
This is a two-part set so the first one relies heavily on progressive beats with a smattering of tribal, while part 2 is opposite of that.  To be honest, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed plying through all this new music.  I had enough here for at least three possibly four solid sets but that's overkill.  Maybe I can recycle some of the songs I didn't pick up for my next circuit set; we'll see.
I'm at the point where I'm tagging and deciding the track list for the next EDM and Funky House set(s).  I'm taking things slow because I got a lot going on around me and I don't see it letting up anytime soon.

Chaka Khan | The Diva Series

When I was working on the third volume of the Year-End Edition 1997, my memory was jogged about one of the divas on my list that I had not gotten around to inducting.  Yes, there is a short list of ladies (Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, etc.) that totally must be included in the Diva Hall of Fame but due to the complexities in putting their tributes together, I haven't taken a stab at it yet.  Chaka Khan was one such person.
As I listened to the awesomeness of Chaka's #1 club-dance hit Never Miss The Water with Me’Shell Ndegéocello, I knew it was time to get to work.
Miss Khan's career spans over four decades, starting as lead vocalist for the R&B Funk outfit Rufus.  They generated several top 40 and #1 R&B hits like the Stevie Wonder penned Tell Me Something Good, Sweet Love (later covered by Mary J. Blige and a personal favorite), At Midnight (My Love Will Lift You Up), and Do You Love What You Feel.
By 1978, Chaka (in true diva fashion) had rocky relationships with many members of Rufus and signed a solo deal with Warner Brothers.  Her debut album included the top twenty songs I'm Every Woman (later covered by Whitney Houston).  From there, she released multiple albums with mild success but in 1983 joined forces with Rufus one more time for the album Stompin' at the Savoy -  Live, which included the studio track Ain't Nobody.  That song was Rufus' final top twenty hit and has been a staple in Chaka's repertoire ever since.
The following year, she released the album I Feel For You.  The title track penned by Prince, enjoyed massive global success fueling the album's platinum status.
In 1986, she joined forces with Steve Winwood for his massive comeback on the single Higher Love.
Chaka Khan continues to release new material and performs regularly.  Her voice, beauty, and skills have earned her massive success as well as well-deserved critical acclaim.  It's for these reasons and more that Party Favorz is honored to induct the fabulous Chaka Khan into the Diva Hall of Fame.
